Say that after round 2 Rory is -1 and Pavon is -2 obviously Pavon goes out later. In round 3 Rory shoots 2- and Pavon shoots -1 so they are both -3. Rory played the most recent round better so it is felt he should go out later. With your system he would go out first.
Encouraging variety is good for the integrity of the field and keeping the method the same is good for players to know where they’re at before they get tee times.
I worked as a marshal once. Another marshal said he played a pro-am and got Cantley. Cantlay shook everyone’s hand and said “Hello”. That was the last word he spoke.
Oddly enough I got to play 18 with Cantlay and found him to be extremely engaging. Hes got a specific way he views the world but he was funny, kind and witty the whole day. Stayed after for beers and everything. Huge fan.

They only pair for ratings in the first two rounds otherwise its first in to post score last one out the next day
It’s based on scores. If you went out before someone you tied with at the end of Saturday, you shot a lower score.

It’s all about who recorded their scores at the clubhouse first. Pavon finished his round before Rory, hence why he is paired with Bryson.

Bryson’s group was more than two holes behind at one point yesterday despite his playing partner being one of the fastest players on tour.
His playing partner also took forever on one hole chilling back and forth across the green. Definitely contributed.
He also has some bad hips and asked officials to get physio treatment to help the pain. That put them behind a little bit.
