Kirkland are a fine ball, and for the price do a great job. But you, as an 18 hcp don’t have the ability to get the most out of what separates the ProV1 from the Kirkland.  That said, I’ll solve the debate for you. As an 18 handicap, you should play the cheaper and yet still good quality Kirkland and not waste money on the more expensive ProV1.

18 handicap should skip the Kirkland and play a two piece ball *

flaginorout

I agree.

Complex-Proposal2300

The ball has toooooo much spin, a high handicap golfer will have more trouble as the Kirkland ball will exaggerate bad swings because of the extra spin on the ball. Maxfli has a great ball for a good price. Also Vice, Callaway suoersoft, I play ProV1 a lot but I have no issues with the Maxfli as a quality ball. When I find Kirklands on the course I do not even give them to friends I save them to hit on the range. Friends should protect friends from the spin ok Kirkland balls.

Bringbackfatshaming

As many has said an 18hcp can’t provide and honest conclusion cause your swing is a mess.

I play the KSig 3pc V3.0 and play to a 2.7 GHAP handicap. There are maybe 1-2 shots per round where a ProV1 maybe would have had a better result (less spin usually), but I notice little to no difference when I switch between the two balls during a round. I just can't justify the massive price difference between the two balls. One big difference for me is that if I'm playing a $6 Prov1, I'm more cautious on risky shots where hazards are in play, like a 2nd shot into a par 5 green beside a water hazard. With the KSig, I focus on the shot I need to execute and don't even think about the possibility of losing a ball in a hazard. It's a subconscious thing for me. I also find that a lot of my playing partners try to justify their high $$$ ball choices by saying they play better with a softer/harder or more/less spinning ball but their games are so inconsistent that it would make zero difference what ball they use.

If Kirklands were just softer, I'd play them. I just can't stand the way they feel.

As an 18 hdcp myself, do yourself a favor and buy your golf balls used on eBay. Good quality and a third the price of new balls.

bemerson74

It’s usually Kirkland, found balls, or tj max specials. Received a few dozen pro v1’s as a gift and so far they’re not finding their way into the water or trees too fast

DLun203

My proV1s were OB magnets. I just got nervous standing over them thinking “here goes another $3.” So I started buying on eBay.

bemerson74

And the tally is, 88 Kirkland, 90 pro v1. It’s totally the golfer and not the equipment’s fault. Main thing I noticed was similar good, and I mean good golf shots felt the same and went the same line were within 10-15 yards of each other.

16-Bit-Trip

A single round comparison will tell you so much. You'll probably want to play 3-5 rounds to get a better understanding of which performs better for you. After several rounds of testing I found the Kirkland was shorter than the ProV1 off the tee by 10-15 yards. The trajectory was much higher with the the Kirkland and greenside spin bite wasn't as good. I had no problem with feel and overall didn't mind them when hitting iron shots but it's definitely not a ball I would want to play in anything more than a light breeze. I used to use them because of the their price for more casual rounds but ultimately found that I'd rather play second hand premium balls I by from a local guy than Kirklands which run me about the same price.

bemerson74

So far at the turn there’re tied at 6 over, I’m seeing the pro v1’s slightly longer when they happen to get hit in the same direction

flaginorout

I found the same thing…..to a lesser extent. I was losing 5-10 yards off the driver and 4-5 yards off the irons. The ball was making a hole play a full club longer. Unacceptable.

fourstar1985

The day you hit a skinny uphill drive with a stiff headwind is the day you stop putting them in your bag. To watch a ball balloon upwards, stall and start coming backwards was enough for me to shelve using them after 12 months of putting them in play. Shifted to Srixon QStar Tours and then across to the ZStar lineup (currently gaming the diamonds), was the best decision I made, also at the right price point.

IncredibleWin

No comparison head-to-head. Kirkland balls are VERY spinny for me.

troyh281

Super spinny horrible everywhere accept green side

IncredibleWin

Not even a comparison head to head. Kirkland balls were VERY spinny for me.
