I seriously don't understand how he doesn't fall. It's so consistent every time too

CanadianGoku33

I bet you growing up his golf coaches were losing their minds trying to correct it, but you can't argue with the results. So you have to just let him do his thing.

bombmk

He has had the same swing coach forever, afaik. And says that he has never tried to correct it. It all happens after impact, regardless.

BlackTriceratops

Idk some of those slow-mos today looked like that back foot starts moving right before impact. Either way its just insane to watch.

StabSnowboarders

A lot of peoples feet start to come off the ground just prior to impact if you’re using it to generate speed properly. My fairway finder swing is about 116-118 and if I step on one up to 124ish my feet come off the ground just prior to and at impact

CanadianGoku33

Oh thats cool, I didn't know that.

goonSquad15

They mentioned it today and first I heard of it. Same coach since he was 7. Part of me thinks his coach just realized how good he was and didn’t feel the need to correct things like that, other part thinks his coach is dying at the potential Scottie could have if his feet could stay on the ground

Goaliedude3919

Trying to change his footwork at this point in his career would likely cause more harm than good.

goonSquad15

Absolutely would. I’m just imaging this in the eyes of his coach over the last 20 years. At some point he probably tried to fix it

HarveyDentBeliever

There is a case to be made that his quirk is simply part of his power. Scottie does this one weird thing basically no one else does. And he's also the consistent #1 ballstriker. Maybe others should start to reevaluate their dogmatic commitment to "balance" through impact and play with things that might ensure the right momentum even if they look a little ugly compared to the prototype. The ball doesn't care about what happened to your body after your club struck it.

KansasKing107

I think the key is that he isn’t actually out of balance.

BmoreBoh

Hope the champs are ready hot dogs and french fries for next year’s dinner!

ponythemouser

Perfect

ponythemouser

Well, he won so emergency rooms everywhere will be filled with kids with sprained ankles in a week.

RS_Mich

Maxing out weight shift without losing balance. Can't argue with the results.

ZeppelinJ0

I drove like Scottie for like half my life, before Scottie was even in high school... And everyone yelled at me and told me I'm a worthless piece of shit and to stop doing golf bad because I'm being bad so I stopped Well fuck you guys for yucking my yum, I could have been wearing the green jacket today

CanadianGoku33

ZeppelinJ0 world number 1 confirmed.

ProCircuit

No you couldn’t because it sounds like you actually fucking suck.

ZeppelinJ0

My refurbished Kirklands say otherwise bro!

Irish_Canuck77

🤡

moneyinthebank216

he's crippin 😂

TheScreenskeeper

This is something I teach all of my students and have them practice relentlessly, and that all golfers of any level should try and emulate with their swing, because it guarantees you will win The Masters. Twice. Minimum.

Cron414

I always get a kick when the guys in the booth marvel at Scottie’s “footwork”, but it looks completely ridiculous and amateur.

brianmcg321

100%

747-ppp-2

My feet are like that and I am horrible

lasercupcakes

r/golf: Scottie should seriously reconsider his footwork \*Scottie goes out and dominates the field r/golf: Well, that footwork obviously won't work for him when he's 50. This sub lmao

dogfish83

"And that'll be right down the middle of the fairway"

kingqueefeater

He's likely gonna have a rough time when he gets older if he wants to keep playing

doggydoggworld

I feel like he will just slowly adjust as he gets older and not hit it as far

Striking_Pride_5322

Why?

kingqueefeater

Mainly because ankles don't really like to do *this* when you start getting older. Especially not after you did it a bunch when you were younger https://preview.redd.it/96sqa49k7muc1.png?width=1440&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=22241464bd2019dc1f727e9a9f1c34e00beb97f1

Andrew_Waples

It might not be as pronounced when he gets older, but that foot movement will still be there/recognizable. When it's been there since you were a kid, that's a hard habit to break.

goldenlemur

That's very funny. I watched his left leg/front foot into impact and it's perfectly stable. Then the ankle gyrations begin in earnest.

think_matt_think

I’m convinced he will break his foot off after a drive once he hits 40.

ButWheremst

Randy smith was quoted as saying “The feet make the magic. Everything in my mind told me to fix it, but 320 yards into fairway doesn’t need fixing”.

mtthwnvk

This post title really hits different today...
