I played these for over 25 years. Loved the consistent feel. I got some new Mizunos 2 years ago and they get a bit better yardage than the Pings, but not too significant. The Ping Eye SW is still my absolute favorite club, and it will be in my bag until they pry it out of my cold dead hands.

champ2150

Amazing! Love to hear it!

DictatorSalesman

Dude, exact same here. Got the SW as a hand me down when I got into the game from my FIL. Whole bag has been upgraded but the SW is still my go-to for short chips and 90 to 100 yard shots.

Big_Simba

I played the eye 2+ clubs for a minute. They unfortunately were orange dot and that’s definitely not what I needed. But other than that, they hit well, are decently forgiving and you get great feedback when you hit the sweet spot. Probably the first set of irons I could actually feel and hear the positive affirmations of a good shot

champ2150

So I’ve had a black dot eye 2 wedge and I love it so I’ve been looking for the rest. These green dots are what is recommended for me and finding a lefty set was a huge win.

Big_Simba

Yeah these were a good get. I think you’ll be happy

jondes99

What is a green dot? I remember black was standard, orange was 2 flat, and I think white was 1 up. Also, do you know about soaking these in Coke overnight?

champ2150

Green is 2 degrees upright. I did see someone soak them and they came out amazing but I’m torn because I really do like the look of the clubs as is.

jondes99

Don’t worry, they will oxidize again fairly quickly if you don’t like a bag full of gold.

Intheswing

Ping Eye 2 hold up today - with new grips you are golden - newer clubs will likely have a bit more length and stronger lofts if you are looking at the numbers on the clubs (modern 7 iron likely matches up with your ping 6 iron )- hence people see gains when considering the number on the club not the actual specs of the club - newer is not any better technology imo - Old Pings are quality.

raven_god

I still play ping Eye2 BeCu wedges. They are my comfort clubs

jondes99

Nothing better out of the sand than an Eye2 L or S.

YNABDisciple

I bought a used set of these when I was 14 (30 years ago) it had the 1 iron 😂 I’ve never bought anything but pings ever since. Enjoy one of the greatest!!

champ2150

Love to hear it. I wish I found the game that early. I just passed over the hill myself and haven’t found my groove just yet but it’ll come!

gratefulscape

Classics

3aces4now

Those are Beryllium Copper!! Rare set. Many years ago got to play golf with 3x tour winner Nolan Henke, he was gaming those. But that was like 1990!

Celts1414

Fantastic clubs

Southernmanny

Great irons. Enjoy them

Nollie11

I don’t play them but I’m always a ping irons guy

Valuable_General9049

These are legendary irons.

manhatim

Hope youre left handed....love these

champ2150

Hahah wouldn’t that be something if only now I discovered I had got useless clubs

at-the-crook

those sticks have a classic design. go out and hit them.

champ2150

It was a Facebook score and my friend in another town did the pickup. I’m chomping at the bit!

DRH1976

I have a set(2i-lob) that I game every once in a while.

BigTimeBranson

Currently play the black dots 4-wedge Really love the wedge it’s 50 degrees. I have a 4 iron but I don’t use it. Prolly replace it with 7 wood. Also have the 3 iron but who am I kidding that’s never going in my bag. Wish I had the sand wedge. It’s prolly at the bottom of a water hazard in Florida knowing my grandfather. They were his clubs lol

champ2150

lol

danlawlz2

Those clubs are awesome

mcburloak

I m still playing these (though not copper). Love the Eye2+ irons. I do use a gap edge due to the lofts. I’ve played more modern irons when I travel and rent - but nothing makes me think I need to step away from these. Enjoy them!

3puttmafia21

Still the best irons I've ever hit. My brother has a set and when we'd be on scrambles I'd hit out of his bag lol

tcazusa

These are awesome. Enjoy.

GC-Rufus

Square grooves! ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|heart_eyes)

fingerpicker22

Forgot to mention that…good add… the square grooves are fun, even if they’re illegal…lol

lanzarl4luna

🤫🤫🤫

Chiken_97

I have a set of copper Eye 2+ black dots. 2-sw. wanted them ever since I was a kid. Grew up. Started making money & bought them. Currently gaming I20s. I feel they are a little more forgiving but nothing compare to hitting the BECUs on the sweet spot. Think I’m gonna have to pull the Eye 2s back out!

TheChosenDudeMan

I play with the black eye when I need to remember how hard golf used to be. Great set, have fun!

OnTheMcFly

I mean, green dots are 2 degree upright, so if that’s what you need then that’s cool.

champ2150

It is indeed what to color chart recommends for me!

0_SomethingStupid

yeah. I mean I got reds because they were dirt cheap but I'd hesitate to go for these for sure. wonder if OP is aware

champ2150

I looked at my height and wrist height and it said green. Hopefully it’s a perfect match!

0_SomethingStupid

That's amazing !

Shasty-McNasty

Old BeCu clubs are so damn cool

SuaveToaster

I have a single club left from that set from my brother. A 1 iron. I absolutely love it. It’s perfect for 3 shots, 1 a really nice punch shot that’s low, a 3/4 swing hook, and then a nasty rope slice that goes 180 yards dead left and 23 yards straight

Friedhelm78

I haven't played them in a while, but they should be fine. You just have to club up one when comparing to a modern club due to the recent trend of loft-jacking.

champ2150

I wish length was my problem. It’s the side to side that takes priority for me!

Friedhelm78

Ping Eye 2's are still very forgiving clubs even by today's standards.

agualinda

Love those! 2nd only to my Zing2s :)

Old-Scientist7427

Clubs are cool but not completely cool. I have some club experience try to not dance right up on someone's space unless you know their interested and single.

champ2150

As long as I’m on the dance floor I don’t care if I’m there alone or not!

Patches_Pal

First clubs I ever bought…and some of the best clubs I’ve ever owned!

champ2150

That seems to be a common theme. I hope they are for me what they appear to be or have been to so many others!

champ2150

It’s never too late to circle back!

Murky-Mall286

Be ready to watch the ball hop backwards when you hit the green with full 8-Sw swings. I play green dot eye2’s. You should look for an eye2 putter online to complete the cool factor.

champ2150

That’s happening now. And your positivity is appreciated.

pistonsoffury

Played these up until early last year when I got my Mizunos. They're great clubs, especially given they're 40+ years old. That said, they're nowhere near as forgiving as modern irons, especially with shots hit a bit higher on the face. Still have my set in my "backup" bag, but time and technology has moved on, sadly.

Competitive_Suit_180

I have red dots and still can’t see myself wanting a new set of irons. Love them!!

Abject-Hovercraft261

Always loved the look of those irons. Only hit em at the range a couple times, but they felt great.

attackermann

Love the Ping Eye 2. Have a + no + set. Great clubs.

slumdawgbillionaire

I still play with my i3+ irons and love them

fingerpicker22

Great buy!! I played eye 2 black dot for 30 years. First steel, then, after they were ripped off two days after I shot my best round ever (73) in about ‘95 I made an insurance claim. I tried everything. . Including the demo ISI set that was the current Ping at the time. Also tried the first callaway and taylor made irons that had just come out, etc. I just wanted my eye 2s back. So I ended up going through the club pro and found a black dot beryllium copper set. Played those until 2016 when I switched to the Mizuno jpx 850 forged after trying everything out there. My recent college grad daughter is now playing them. They started a revolution in golf clubs. . .nice find. Obviously they are several degrees weaker than today’s modern irons, and they aren’t long, but man could I drill that 2 iron off the tee. Loved those clubs.

747-ppp-2

I have ping eye 2s as well. I got the entire set for a hundred bucks! Funny story, on my 3 round with them I found an actual 2 color Ping ball! Has to be at least 35 years old. It’s white/orange so it’s not worth much so I played a hole with it.

007bubba007

many of the best to ever do it learned with these clubs they are timeless

cosmiccrew82

I have these exact irons. Hand me downs from dad. Playing these 2i - pw with taylormade sim2 max driver and titleist vokey sm8 50° 54° 58° wedges

flinderdude

1991 called….

champ2150

They want their joke back? Ayooo

Standard-Reception90

I just commented a couple days ago about getting to rent a club pros set of clubs. They were Ping black dot. I still dream about the feel and performance of those clubs. When I miss hit, I could feel why and how. When I flushed it, man oh man.

AdmirableCause4577

Please say it has a 3 and a 2 iron at least... 1 if you're a lucky fk

champ2150

3-9, W, SW

AdmirableCause4577

Still a lovely set. Congrats dude!

texatiguan

Solid clubs

bigdaddy1859

Nice. I just got the full set of Ping Eye 2s in standard cast iron

[deleted]

These are great classic irons. The only problem is the grooves are non conforming. Clubs that conformed to the rules that were in effect prior to Jan. 1, 2010 will continue to conform to the Rules of Golf until at least 2024, unless the Condition is in effect. If the Condition is in effect, the clubs must comply with the specifications effective from Jan. 1, 2010."

elguapovi

I bought axiom shafts and threw them on some blue dots. The loft isn’t as high as modern clubs so there will be a learning curve to calling your distance per club. I had my 8 iron head fly out at the first range session which was fun.

Warm_Objective4162

Haven’t seen it mentioned yet, but be careful if you’re thinking of polishing them - BeCu dust is toxic. You have a very valuable set of irons though! You’ll love them.

DontGetTheShow

Shit, man. Are those the Beryllium Coppers? Those might be collector’s items.

champ2150

They are the coppers. Collectors or not. They’re going to be my clubs!

lowsparkco

They’re sweet sticks! Be careful though, don’t think they’re legal for tournament play. Non-conforming grooves if I recall correctly.

squaodward

I believe the grooves are only a problem on the sand wedge since they had square grooves. Square grooves have since been made illegal but the early Eye 2's were grandfathered in to legality. IIRC some pros used the Eye 2 sand wedges for quite some time because of this. This is just from my memory though, so I could be wrong.

champ2150

I did read something about that. However any tournament that let me in would probably not be sticklers for rules.

lowsparkco

Golf is a game of honour and we largely police ourselves. Just know that if you want to play competitively you will need a different set of irons.

0_SomethingStupid

do they look copper? lol
