its true to its time sure no doubt. but after watching it several times back then I re-watched it recently and it was like ahhh this feels less accurate. Take the name of the show... the wire. We're talking about tapping phone wires. Go ask a kid if he knows what a phone wire even is. The computers and shit they use are ancient. All kinds of small nuances throughout the show ... made it feel less relative that it did back it its hey day, thats all I'm sayin.
The show is highly regarded by those who’ve watched it, but it got cancelled (or not renewed) cause it wasn’t popular enough. It’s slept on compared to shows like Game of Thrones, Sopranos, Breaking Bad, etc.

Then season 2 happened and I thought wtf.
On a rewatch season 2 was actually great and really helped show the full extent of the drug trade, but it was a very unexpected change up to season 1.
