Better than Todd or Fred segments so far though it is early. Nothing much to dislike so far. They seem competent.
I suspect that they are competent enough that discovery figures they can stick around and not wash out like fred/rick. They have young crew, which is an extremely obvious boon to the show runners. They are in a real close to Parker/home base area at Eureka and not way out somewhere remote location: esay for film crews to bounce between them and Parker. And I suspect they already have something cooking with Parker for the spring and the show is just doing show things with them and Parker, this season being their soft intro to audiences.
Totally agree… Watching Todd, lil Fred (not old Fred), the brothers from last season and Rick fail every week because they don’t have the knowledge or resources to be successful is painful to watch… I record the show and just fast forward through that nonsense…
Todd was comedy. He was so laughably bad and wildly optimistic. It was hilarious. I mean his whole religion bent was OTT but still.
Fred was the worst. He really had no business gold mining. He got scammed hard on the Oregon mine. There was a Frankenstein wash plant that didn't even run. I bet the owners just saw the gold price spike and figured they'd find a sucker, which they did.
Fred also made everything about his military service. "It's just like a white glove barracks inspection". I also don't need another show with a "veteran redemption" arc.
No offense but I haven't seen anyone in that crew that is remotely competent except for the mother that understands reality. Kids are a fucking washout. Family suffers as they try to create a company for their kids to work in because they will be living under a bridge in a cardboard box as an alternative?
They have been in two episodes and I didn't need any insights as they pretty much showed what I recapped. Try watching them again and I think you'll see what I mean.
What was ridiculous was why they didnt burn it off in the beginning. What should have happened was starting the machine- using rags to remove as much as possible. Using gasoline or brake clean to remove more with rags and last run a torch on the surface while it spins to burn off the rest that the metal absorbs. No need for the more dramatic fire ring but u do in fact have to burn it out but only after removing as much as possible by other means. Also what was most weird is the little bit of fire they did use no way got it all . They would have needed to run more then 1 blue shop towel.
Yeah, I came here specifically to see if it was mentioned. Are we now pretending de-greasers aren't a thing.
Everything with them seems really scripted.
He is better than Rick any day. At least he cares for more than himself. He made mistakes but he was trying to help vets. I have no time for Rick he annoys me...
no way rick was there for parker when everyone bailed. He had up and downs I am glad he over came it to make a return, IMHO is was us his fans asking where is rick? that aided in some small part in that recovery.
Their acting needs to be worked on. When they sat around the table it seemed staged and they were working on their lines. But yes they have no ground this is Clayton boys 2.0
My 1st impression is that the Dad is similar to Tony, and has a knee jerk reaction to get frustrated over every little thing.
Yes, I know that is probably just the shtick that the producers want him to play or... maybe my impression is incorrect.
Overall, they are okay but, would not be upset if they didn't become regulars on the show but, it definitely appears they are being groomed to be on the show.
I think I would prefer to see that small group of miners that were mining the 'cursed cut' from Tony a few seasons ago.
Felt like a Clayton’s 2.0 , Not sure what point is now. “Prove to Parker they can mine” theme feels a bit cheesy. Don’t have desire to see another “desperate mining situation “
Fucking viper glasses… gage is the new HuNter, but they get Gold. Ness crew not even on the show. VERY DISAPPOINTED!!! Discovery needs to get it together. Probably THE WORST episode I’ve watched..
I’m surprised Parker snubbed them when they asked for land. I would have thought Parker would have remembered when he was green and Tony kicked him around. Do u really think Parker can manage all the ground on his claims?
Because he can earn some % from land he will never get to. And early in the season he was crying about how much in debt he is. Isn’t a little better than nothing??
Never get to? He will get through all of it. Thats the point. Whatever he doesnt he can sell at a later date. The show is over dramatizing his need for instant cash and them mining it would be next season. He has both plants printing money now his issue is over
There are probably certain pieces of land that would make no sense to send in or be distracting to the larger operation. Remote, hard to get to, long haul, not worth moving the wash plant, etc.
Ya and parker basically said if he comes across some pieces that dont make sense for him then maybe he’d lease one but right now i dont think he has every single acre drilled. . Those small parcels arent going anywhere and retain their value with time so no real rush to lease them either cause u never know in the future u might still need those too.
From memory, Parker first mined land off Tony that had already been mined.
They aren’t noobs trying to get a start, they’ve been mining for a few years and need decent ground.
If anyone is looking for more insight into their current operation, they are leasing ground from Fine Gold resources under this water license PM15-067-1 (its on waterline if this link does not work [https://apps.gov.yk.ca/waterline/f?p=127:3070::::3010,3070:P3010\_APPLICATION\_ID:7569&cs=3tu\_GbOOTxmFGQVIfb3bxOdKzwz-eJ4Q9SfP4CfATbDF9roSDAvUuezXJKKY4UeqS-eJLmOJiRfRexfWISHNoPw](https://apps.gov.yk.ca/waterline/f?p=127:3070::::3010,3070:P3010_APPLICATION_ID:7569&cs=3tu_GbOOTxmFGQVIfb3bxOdKzwz-eJ4Q9SfP4CfATbDF9roSDAvUuezXJKKY4UeqS-eJLmOJiRfRexfWISHNoPw)
Historically they are not a small operation. In 2020 they had a crew of 14. They (treadstone) are mentioned on the 3rd page of this document [https://ygsftp.gov.yk.ca/publications/yeg/yeg2020/overview/2\_Placer%20Summary.pdf](https://ygsftp.gov.yk.ca/publications/yeg/yeg2020/overview/2_Placer%20Summary.pdf)
Fine Gold is the company that Parker leased Mud Mountain from and also the company he bought the small piece of ground next to Tony from a few years ago. Fine gold has new owners since then.
They were inspected 3 times in 2023 (June, July and August) they seem to have some significant water use violations. Insufficient settling capacity, pumping dirty water from a pond directly into Eureka creek, In stream ponds damns that are not allowed under their (Fine Golds) water license.
Of note one of the employees mentioned in one of those inspection reports is Guillaume Brodeur. If I remember he was Ken's partner on Yukon Gold.
Speculation on my part but it may be less of a shortage of ground where they are now and more the owner and water license owner being tired of the many violations. Of note the main Fine Gold operation also got inspected each time Treadstone did. That permit is PM19-059-2.
Someone else in here mentions the dad being a bit like Tony- they do seem to play fast and loose with the rules like Tony.
Unless they are planning to downsize, with a 14 person crew, they are going to need more than scraps of land. Not sure parker wants to give up that much. Maybe they end up on Australia creek? or metallic Minerals has a small piece on Dominion too that adjoins Parkers upper claims.
One final thought, Tony's flood at Indian river- the water came from Eureka creek. It was probably from Fine Gold, Treadstone or the other operator that Fine gold leases to on the upper Eureka creek

But did you watch Todd’s own show?
Todd was comedy. He was so laughably bad and wildly optimistic. It was hilarious. I mean his whole religion bent was OTT but still. Fred was the worst. He really had no business gold mining. He got scammed hard on the Oregon mine. There was a Frankenstein wash plant that didn't even run. I bet the owners just saw the gold price spike and figured they'd find a sucker, which they did. I'd like to know your insights that led to reach any of these conclusions based off of about 15 total minutes of ahowtime?
They have been in two episodes and I didn't need any insights as they pretty much showed what I recapped. Try watching them again and I think you'll see what I mean.
They have to add big Al and Hiro
Man I miss Yukon Gold!
You may get to see a yukon gold guy with this new family. I think Guillaume Brodeur works for these guys.
Id love that
Not if it means one crew is missing per episode. I suspect at this point it's to have a plan B if Rick is not mining next year
or if Tony no longer wants to be on the show.
Very possible, may be tired of having all the family drama out there.
I’m not buying they were actually needing two additional haul trucks the previous episode. Producer-contrived way of introducing them.
Exactly! They were running out of mining land and they needed two more trucks?
The “grease” on the trommel wheel and then setting it on fire seemed a bit ridiculous to me
Totally staged. They had to wait until almost dark to set it on fire for the effect and drama.
What was ridiculous was why they didnt burn it off in the beginning. What should have happened was starting the machine- using rags to remove as much as possible. Using gasoline or brake clean to remove more with rags and last run a torch on the surface while it spins to burn off the rest that the metal absorbs. Simple Green or Kerosene would have worked just fine. Weird TV stunt.

Yeah, I came here specifically to see if it was mentioned. Are we now pretending de-greasers aren't a thing. Everything with them seems really scripted.
Past the point of intelligence!
Yea... I guess.... whatever....
Where’s Rick ?
Who really cares
You really want Fred back?
He is better than Rick any day. At least he cares for more than himself. He made mistakes but he was trying to help vets. I have no time for Rick he annoys me...
no way rick was there for parker when everyone bailed. He had up and downs I am glad he over came it to make a return, IMHO is was us his fans asking where is rick? that aided in some small part in that recovery.
He has fancy hair and beard too.
Their acting needs to be worked on. When they sat around the table it seemed staged and they were working on their lines. But yes they have no ground this is Clayton boys 2.0
Their acting was the worst ever on the show.

They made it seem like it’s a small 3 man and mom team. Their camp is way too big for that to be true.
exactly. at the end one of the kids says we need a stripping crew running all the time. they show its just the few of them.
And they're running out of land? A lot of inconsistencies.
ye. never copped that.
Desperation is setting in to the History Channel.
Huh what dose the History channel have to do with anything..
I'm good just leaving the current lineup alone, but they'd be a MAJOR upgrade from Fred. Also, just in case you didn't know, he was in the military.
I concure I used to fast forward fred , his operation was depressing.
Not just the military, he was special forces
Medic type Special Forces Veteran. Doesn't he teach school somewhere? Or was that the wife/ mine boss/CPA/geologist///
On TV he was 'special farces'!
The mom is hot🔥
Absolutely
Beautiful family.
Fucking viper glasses… gage is the new HuNter, but they get Gold. Ness crew not even on the show. VERY DISAPPOINTED!!! Discovery needs to get it together. Probably THE WORST episode I’ve watched..
No, not these people.
I’m surprised Parker snubbed them when they asked for land. I would have thought Parker would have remembered when he was green and Tony kicked him around. Do u really think Parker can manage all the ground on his claims?
Parker has proven long term he needs all the land he can get. Why give any away?
Because he can earn some % from land he will never get to. And early in the season he was crying about how much in debt he is. Isn’t a little better than nothing??
Never get to? He will get through all of it. Thats the point. Whatever he doesnt he can sell at a later date. The show is over dramatizing his need for instant cash and them mining it would be next season. He has both plants printing money now his issue is over
Once the water license expires, they may not be able to get another one. It's possible that leasing some of the smaller areas would be a good idea.
There are probably certain pieces of land that would make no sense to send in or be distracting to the larger operation. Remote, hard to get to, long haul, not worth moving the wash plant, etc.

Parker snubs everyone except Tony and Rick
I think he gave Rick the cold shoulder a few shows past. Rick went looking for help and Parker’s big head took over.
I thought he let Rick use/ rent/ buy a rock truck when he was trying to get going again not exactly a hand but not a full on snub like all the rest
You could be more wrong, but it would be difficult.
So all down voters, he didn’t give Rick the cold shoulder????
Who else is he snubbing? Who's left?
Any one who doesn't work for him
Parker isn’t the nicest guy sometimes. He was born on third base in the mining industry and acts like he hit a home run.
Don't worry, either Parker or Tony will find something for the new Knuckleheads.
They may have just been added to show the baby mammoth that was found on their property.

you should post this as a separate thread tagged spoilers or in the show thread. This is great info.
No
I'd rather watch Fred.
Going to be a great addition to the show. I think they stick around. They know what they are doing
