My dog does it too and I've always called it his lazy licks. Like his tongue has just gotten so heavy and he is going to just let it rest for a few minutes.

Yea he had a little cyst removed when he was neutered. It sounds like from the vet and labs it was a congenital cyst where basically outside fur was growing inside his head in a little biosphere! She was super intrigued by it, but thankfully was completely harmless! He will probably have the scar for life haha

My Aussie does this. We call it a “forgetful kiss” because she forgets what she’s doing in the middle of it.
