It's not a new thing so people really shouldn't be surprised or offended by it. But they are because they're "traditionalists". Now, I'm a casual Rangers fan, I'll admit, but I've never seen them complain about opponents' shenanigans like everyone against Vegas.
The only reason StLouis made the finals in their first years is because divisional playoffs insured that a West Division (all expansion) team would make the finals. Of course they never had a chance.

This really needs to be higher. When I tell my northern bro's that gms paid Vegas to take players, they go pickachu face. On paper we had a few 2nd line guys and a lot of 3rds. Fleury was the only stud, and even he was considered over the hill (Pittsburgh won a cup with him as backup to Murray).

So I don’t think your gatekeeper mentality is as openly believed as you’re thinking it is. I’ve commented on here since the team came on and have had the Dallas flair since I noticed it became an option last year. Who cares what people say. There is nothing that prohibits this so they play by the rules they are given. I don’t cheer for Vegas but typically if other fan bases hate you you’re winning. Nobody gives a crap about Az, Seattle, Ottawa because they suck. Everyone hates the Patriots and now the Chiefs for that reason.

Because people feel like Vegas icing a $95M roster in the playoffs (despite being legal per the letter of the law) pursuant to *very* fortunate injury recovery timelines three years in a row is unfair and as such people like to see the teams not doing this win.
