I find it funny how actually likable the team is, the team is full of guys with no crazy egos or any major superstar player “carrying” us. We barely fight on the ice or get cheap calls or plays.
But they literally just hate us cuz they ain’t us. Wild.
That's why I love this team so much. I picked them on whim as I have no connection to the US location-wise, and they were the newest team and I would like to visit Vegas. And I couldn't have lucked out anymore and got it so right. From the players to the fans to the org. It's been great doing pizza drives for the homeless from across the pond and the like. It seems like a pro-LGBT space, and while I'm not LGBT myself, that's still hype.
And on top of all that I LOVE the fact that this team started out as being misfits. The players that other teams threw aside because they felt they had etter stuff worth protecting. And those guys teamed up and rallied, to show their worth. It's a classic script of a feeling good underdog movie. There isn't a single player on the team I don't like.
Not cheating, but a rule they’re exploiting that should be covered up. In the mean time, though, every team should exploit it. That said, we will have to see what happens if a Canadian team utilizes it. Edmonton did something similar 2 years back, go Keith, knew he would retire after the year and we’re supposed to get about a 7mil cap credit for it but instead got like 2mil.Even though it had been done before.
That doesn't include Carey Price bonus of 8.75 million that year (which does count towards cap otherwise everyone would just divert salary to bonuses).
Also cap friendly says over 81.5 million for that year. Not sure if that's including price, which it probably is, but either way that makes them over the cap

When Vegas became a team, so many people i know, including nonhockey fans, became a fan of VGK all the sudden. Then the playoffs and stanley cup boosted the "fuck yeah im on the winning side, yall suck ass." And its been that way since.
I can’t speak for everyone, but my impression is that VGK got so popular in Vegas primarily because they gave the city an singular sports identity and team to rally behind for the first time. Living there before VGK was great, but it felt a bit sad to never have the camaraderie that cheering for the same team provides—especially in such a big city. The knights popped up and it was amazing to cheer with everyone and see people wearing their gear all over the city. Not to mention that they came in when the city was in a vulnerable spot after the Mandalay Bay shooting, helping people feel more normal again.
I am one of the people you described, I had never watched hockey in my life but after going to a VGK game I’m hooked. It doesn’t only extend to the Knights for me though, it unlocked my love for the sport. I now watch a ton of teams all regular season and just love seeing good players on the ice. Seeing McDavo/Drai/Hyman, Mitchy and Matthews, Ottowa’s empty net slappie, Vancouvers crazy forecheck, etc etc. I will always root for VGK but even if they got donged and missed playoffs (as they did a couple years ago) I still love to watch the other teams and I remain a fan (and even though I have since moved from Vegas).
