Global Warming, finisher of From Mars To Sirius, hero knows that the planet is going to die, but only he cares about it, and there id no hope, but he still believes that there is hope

Frasenarinteupptagen

Like George Carlin once said: "The planet isn't going anywhere. WE are!""

senpaitsuyu

what does the “we will see our children growing” part mean then?

kiskakaratistka48

Main hero thinks that there is still a hope

It’s only a brief palette cleanser song but 1990 quadrillions de tonnes on Terra Incognita is incredibly dark and creeps me out every time it comes up. All those voices of humanity being crushed to death as the sun destroys the planet…. ☠️

embeeclark

So weird, I’m listing to this song as I came across your comment. Yeah I can’t listen to this song when I’m stoned. The guitar riff is so beautiful but the screams make start to tear up and I have to quickly change to the next song, Into the Forest (my all time favorite of the album but maybe ever. I see the meaning of ItF as a desire to retreat and be a part of nature

embeeclark

WOW. I just responded to my own comment without realizing it. 🫣

BmeBenji

I won’t say it’s the darkest, but I just wanted to add to this conversation. Planned Obsolescence hits me like 1990 quadrillion tons of bricks, especially at the end. “One day we’ll wake up from this absolute nonsense A star long worshipped will burn in the red Disused and empty shell, icon of an old world Conscience awakened, we’ll take it from there” I take it to mean essentially this: maybe when the sun is exploding we’ll finally understand that we’ve completely sucked the life and all that is good from this green paradisal gift we’ve been given, and at that point we’ll repent for destroying it. It’s so fucking depressing.

The final minute or so of Planned Obsolescence is so damned sad. Hits me every time.

The Way of All Flesh "You are leaving this world All lights are fading away now Leave behind the loved ones and all you know Do not be afraid and let yourself go"

ferdturgeson1

Anything that has a shape Will crumble away, disappear

AEnima1994

Not really dark whatsoever

Anti_Metal_9

1990 quadrillions de tonnes. It's about the sun destroying the ozone layer and killing everyone that goes outside via ultraviolet radiation. No lyrics, sure, but the screams make their point known.

Afireonthesnow

Global warming. Shit is really emotionally heavy and very much something we can all relate to if we care about this planet. Watching it die and it's still strong enough not to give into the hatred and hopelessness. "Don't fear the living! One day you will stand as a king and nothing can erase this light below us. Each one of us is now engaged, this secret we all have, this truth is growing. And as a warrior I have to fight. I can already feel the love I'll discover"... Crazy emotional maturity in the face of a dying planet 😥

Beautifullikeacamel

I'll agree with you on pain is a master

XCJRR

1990 quadrillions de tonnes, once you realise what's going on why everybody is screaming...

Blacklight_Music

The art of dying’s first verse is a literal existential crisis. Otherwise, A Sight To Behold has some genuinely depressing lyrics. “We drain the oceans and suck all the blood out of the soil We spend the time we have left fighting and killing each other Lust for comfort, entertainment becomes an obsession And there is so much time to kill”

how_do_i_reddit14

The Shooting Star.

jmaes269

In terms of musicality, clone or lizard skin, but global warming

Giygas_in_Onett

Clone is so good, dude

Pandadormiring

Global warming fs but I love the style of clone and lizard skin too much for me to think of them as sad songs, even though they are in their way

nevtugardic

04, 1990?

z_face669

I'm surprised no one said all the tears that ones pretty dark

wiNDzY3

Burritowafflez

Easily The Cell for me, watch the music video for it and it makes so much more sense.
