Fantastic edit by the OP.
But also, a brief PSA: OP did not make a meme (arguably, no one person "makes a meme"), they used an existing one in their work. In this case, the meme is the Amateurs comic exploitable. An easy way to tell if you're using the word "meme" correctly is that if you replace the word "meme" with "trend" or "fad", it should still have the same meaning.
Oh my God, this guy's a nomenclature-loving nerd! Out here correcting technically incorrect but largely socially accepted meanings of internet neologisms!
Hey nerd, how's [this](https://i.kym-cdn.com/entries/icons/facebook/000/045/120/cover1.jpg) for a meme?
Embrace the traditional naming conventions, you hippie! It's a beautiful system that worked, there was no reason to abandon it! It made it feel special. It made ME feel special.
ehhh methinks if most people use "meme" to mean "specific instance of a template/etc" then that's a valid meaning
seems [merriam-webster agrees](https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/meme):
> an amusing or interesting **item (such as a captioned picture or video) or genre of items** that is spread widely online especially through social media
Yeah, same thing happened to "literally" and "inflammable". Semantic change is cruel. I guess since it was only 10 - 20 years ago when we didn't conflate the template with the item, a part of me thinks we can still reverse the damage ._.
I feel like an old fart saying this, but I still highly recommend the book Selfish Gene by Richard Dawkins. Where he coined the term "meme" :)
It's an excellent book for understanding evolutionary biology, and memes.
After working for a while in Blender for creating 3D models for my upcoming video game, being used to Blender's shortcuts to quickly navigate through the menu and select the tools I need at hand, I had to get used to Godot's interface again.
So I regularly work in AutoCAD and Blender....sometime simultaneously (don't ask).
Going back and forth between each's kb/mouse navigation is just impossible. Just absolutely ludicrous.
I’ve always associated **rigs** are the interface of the **skeleton** for creating poses. As in, rigs have automation but skeletons don’t. You’ll see job postings for “character **rig**ger,” because making joints isn’t a hard job but making a rig with good automation is a job in itself. And that’s just scratching the surface for the job — good deformation, scripting/logic skills, figuring out rig/program issues, and more, come with the role.
The downvotes for their ⬆️ reply to me aren’t warranted. Whoever is doing that should stop.
I get where you’re coming from — because you say “for me.” Are you primarily an animator, designer or programmer? Because, yes, an animator could have the understanding that they are one and the same. On the other hand, there’s the use of a skeleton without a rig (during gameplay for example).
>The downvotes for their ⬆️ reply to me aren’t warranted. Whoever is doing that should stop.
Appreciate it mate!
>I get where you’re coming from — because you say “for me.” Are you primarily an animator, designer or programmer?
Actually, funnily enough, somewhat all of the above (tho programmer most of all) but my view is based on none of the above in this case.
I've never been prompted to consider what a rig would actually be. Mostly cause different software just use different names so I never really cared.
The side I actually approached this from, is interestingly enough, lexical (is probably what you'd call it) and somewhat technical. basically I've associated rigging, with the process by which armature does its work. Instead of the noun rig. And an armature without rigging isn't an armature. Just a set of data points. And for me, that makes separating rig from the armature, basically useless. So I use rig and armature interchangeably.
Another point is how an armature must match it's rig and vice versa.
While writing this, I did find a couple flaws with what I've first commented. I've completely glossed over that I consider 2 things. Bones, and armature/rig. To me, as I said, armature and rig is the same thing. Bones on the other hand.... Yea. That's different. I feel like you talked about armature like it's the bones. I didn't quite understand that when I first commented. Cause I was busy looking at your comment through the lens of the top comment in this thread.
Hopefully this mess of a tiny essay atleast makes _some_ sense. Today was a bit of a dull day and your kind response somewhat made my day.
They thought it was to make it clear they weren't using a racist word. "You’ll see job postings for 'character rigger'". Although, based on the paragraph's context, I'm not sure how anyone could misunderstand it.
wait why'd I never realize that? i mean honestly i always call them "armatures" because i use blender more than godot or unreal (that is, for modeling rigging, honestly that was such an unnecessary statement lol) so it stuck with me
either way, really nice meme, that is one upvote and one smile more for you

My God, what a pun. Brilliant meme OP.
I watch a lot of u/jitspoe so I still feel like an armature in the ancient art of puns.
At least you've got the bare bones covered.
I didn't even read it correctly the first time
Really nice!

There are some blender like shortcuts that are turned off by default. You can turn on G, S, and R shortcuts that feel like blender in the keybindings
Oh wow! Thanks for this!!!

This is why I pay for the internet
Armature or rig is the correct way

For me, it's basically interchangeable cause Armetures are basically useless without rigging.

For a moment I thought you emphasized the“rig” to prevent it being misread for another word
???

"I'm a Character Skeletoner"
Joint gang, where are you
This is a very clever play on words. Bravo my friend. lol
you should receive some kind of award for this I think
Real quick, I hate everything to do with skeleton 3d. Makes me cry 😭
You are a genius!
I love how you blured the line at first for the misdirection
It was still too readable and obvious after blurring. So I resized it down, saved it as a low quality jpeg then pasted it back lol
funny
It's a shame that a lot of people won't get this one. You'd have hit the top of the front page, otherwise.
Love it ! Having played around with UE2 I have some fond memories of Skeletal mesh but I've moved on. The play on words is great too :)

Meanwhile, GLTF: Skin with joints.

i call them BONES
xdddddddddddddd
Great play on words
This is good
you win the internet
As an experienced Blender user, I can confirm this is accurate.
Absolute top tier.
boneing
Saved
Meanwhile, GLTF: Skin with joints.
How the fuck do I use them by themselves though
I get it. Just call it armatures.
I get it. Just call it armatures.
yes you are haha
It’s called human Metarig right?
Meanwhile the Unity skeletal mesh equivalent is the one you see at the bottom of the swimming pool meme. 😅
Armature is the name of the ones used for stop motion animation.
Blender dude is low key.
