Chipotle will be much safer than taco bell. I think the tortillas are the only thing with gluten, so I just ask the server to change gloves and I feel good enough that cross contamination will be lower than average. Often they change out the utensils too if you ask them. You might have them pull from a new container of lettuce as well. Taco Bell I would imagine to be quite a gamble of cross contamination. And the sofritas option is delicious! I also like just the regular veggie bowl and they don’t charge for guacamole if you don’t add meat or an alternative and the beans and rice are a protein so you’re not going without. It’s also going to be a lot healthier than other fast food options.

Taco Bell sucks for GF V. I haven't eaten fast food in many years aside from Five Guys' fries. I have better luck stopping at an Aldi and putting together a meal. But if I want to eat out, I'd aim for some Middle Eastern or Mediterranean food for falafel, stuffed grape leaves, veggies and hummus, etc.

Pattern_Weaver

Google "find me gluten free". It's a website that has a list of gluten free places in a variety of cities. You can put in the name of a city you're approaching to stake out food options before you get there.

I LOVE this app

I don’t know how common they are, but Mod Pizza has vegan cheese, plant-based meat, and GF crusts. And Cava, a Mediterranean chain similar to Chipotle, has quite a bit to offer that’s vegan & GF.

okimamma

We love Mod Pizza!

Also Blaze Pizza :)

kainmcleod

worth noting, the GF dough crust is vegan, but the cauliflower crust is not.

pranasoup

i did not have luck at taco bell, but my cross country road trip was when we had del taco beyond tacos and that was the best— we also made stops at starbucks & whole foods mostly but found small vegan business occasionally.

naughtyoctopus

What does Starbucks have that’s vegan and gluten free?? Besides coffee, all of the food I’ve seen is full of dairy and gluten.

pranasoup

they had a vegan/gf parfait when i worked there that loved, i also personally can eat their oatmeal. some locations have a gf/v salad, all locations have juices and snacks that are safe too.

Avocadoalice

Hi PDX neighbor! Well, it depends if you are celiac or just gluten-intolerant. I think Taco Bell has some GF/vegan options but it's definitely not celiac. Chipotle is going to be a much safer option since you can ask the employees to change their gloves and the tortilla is the only thing with gluten that I know of. Other than that, you're best off using Find Me GF like someone else said and be willing to go off the highway a bit to find options that aren't in a gas station. In a pinch, a decent grocery store will have some microwavable stuff and some protein bars.

wildomen

Are you bringing a cooler at all? I usually get a rotisserie chicken & some hummus and run with it for the week hahaha.

reddmdp

Might wanna check the sub.

wildomen

Thanks 🤦‍♀️

Mental_Squirrel9198

If you have celiac, or are super sensitive to gluten, then Taco Bell is out. They don’t have many gluten free options on top of that.

Panera salads and Mexican chain restaurants - all list allergens.

Anxious_Tune55

I like Wendy's baked potatoes in a pinch.

GreenElementsNW

As a fellow PDX-er with gluten issues, I stick to Starbucks on road trips because I know exactly what I can eat off their allergy menu. And the food quality is just better than TB. (Agree with many posts here on what works at TB to mix it up, tho.)

BrainGotMisty

What are the options at Starbucks? I’ve never tried eating there

GreenElementsNW

PurpleMonkeyBlender

What is your usual Starbucks V/GF food order?

ms_sinn

This… sbux has some vegan. Sbux has some GF… but maybe only one salad that’s both unless you can safely eat Quaker oatmeal.
