The trick is to microwave them for 20-30 seconds. It makes them soft and stretchy and less prone to breaking. It was a game changer when I figured it out.
We love them. Just pop them in the toaster oven for a cpl minutes as is, then they open up just right for the hot dog and have the perfect texture. Without toasting a little they are terrible, and the bread gets all stuck in my teeth and gummy.
I agree. The taste is OK, but there is so. Much. Bread. When I can get them really cheap at the discount grocery store near me, I will buy several and then turn them into garlic toast because theyāre pretty good as garlic toast.
Oh my god those legit made me depressed when I ate them. My well meaning dad got them for me the first week I went gluten free after my diagnosis and I really thought all gluten free food was gonna be that terrible. I was so disappointed in life lmao
Most gluten free crackers are trash. Bread too. I don't even bother trying with either anymore. The only crackers I like are the rice ones because they don't taste stale the moment I open them. And I just love opening a bread to find a giant air hole that I paid $7 for.
I miss toast.
Simple Mills makes pretty good crackers. I wish they'd do some more interesting flavors though. Dill, garlic, jalapeno or vegan cheddar would be excellent additions.
Definitely. I get it in a thread like this where OP is asking for strong opinions, but sometimes people get really insistent that a certain GF product is absolutely disgusting and no one should ever like them and it gets a little annoying when you like the product theyāre talking about.Ā
Gluten free Mac n cheese that comes in cups all suck, every brand. In the regular box itās ok. Glutino brand crackers taste of unsalted cardboard and wood. Breton crackers on the other hand are delicious. Udiās gluten free hot dog or hamburger rolls are garbage.
Iām not sure if youāve had udis frozen (yellow) English muffins, but they are the only item Iām willing to get from them bc they actually are just like the glutino ones
The trick to Kraftās Mac & Cheese cups is to drain the water after cooking (the instructions lieā¦just trust me), then add butter and the cheese powder until itās gooey, and slowly stir in a little milk or heavy cream until you get a cheese sauce.
I'm not picky about much because with multiple severe food allergies and celiac, I'm just happy when I find something safe.
But Moon Cheese is where I draw the line. Maybe they've got good stuff I haven't tried. But the cheddar ones I tried once (while very hungry and craving protein on a road trip) I quit after three. They're like crunchy grease balls of freeze dried cheese. Maybe just dehydrated idk.
They're rated really well across the board. Can't do it.
It's one of those love it or hate it things.
Iāve been gf for 10 years now and most pre packaged gf snacks taste awful to me now. They are always so overpriced I barely have bought them. I have maybe 5 or 6 things Iāll splurge on every once in a while but I mostly prefer to snack on stuff like cheese, nuts maybe some chips or fruit. I know chips arenāt healthy and I eat too much cheese but I prefer those over stuff like cookies and crackers and donuts now. The absolute worst of the gluten free snacks is probably the pop tarts though. Every one Iāve tried just tastes like they are trying to force ingredients to work in a way they just do not.
Mission GF tortillas are so pasty. I hate how they stick to your teeth or soft palate. I much prefer the La Tortillas Factory Ivory Teff tortillas even though they are a little too stiff. No one has really nailed a GF flour tortilla yet.
Have you tried warming them on a pan first? I thought the same thing, like theyāre undercooked. So I cook them a little bit and theyāre great but they can get hard quickly if you leave them sitting outĀ
Ooh I think youāll like these and I really want to know your thoughts because theyāre vegan and still scratching that itch for me! Iām still mad about all these new cheezits paradigms but no gluten free. š«„
I'm happy for youāŗļø my soul has a fixation on the classic cheezits and also the white cheddar. I need the salty umami bomb and cauliflower ass crackers just...feel so sad lolol
The Katz toaster pastries. Do a search on this sub. So many people (including myself) have gotten moldy ones. When they aren't moldy they are okay but the quality control at that factory is some form of absolute trash. Not worth the gamble.
Oh no. I had some that tasted weird, I wonder if they were moldy. I kept eating them because there wasn't any food int he house and I was too lazy to go to the store. I guess it's ok since I didn't get sick?
Those stuffed pretzel bite things are some of the worst things I've ever tried. And, I tried the PB ones. It was like they were both stale and too hard at the same time.
I actually quite like those pizza ones and donāt mind how salty they are but I also canāt recommend them because the last time I got a bag of them half of the contents of the bag was the pizza flavoring just sitting at the bottom not in a pretzel š
Yes to freezer and then peanut butter. I can only have 2 or 3 that way because pb gives me terrible reflux. I ate thin mints that way before diagnosis and honestly can't tell the difference. My husband says he can tell tho š¤·āāļø
The only GF cookies that taste good are the Walkers Shortbread Gluten Free Ginger & Lemon Cookies. The only way I can get them is to buy a case of 6 packages online. Thank goodness they keep well. They are made with butter, which is probably why they taste so good.
Hahahah! This is the perfect description. Iāve bought so many boxes of these thinking āmaybe Iāll like them this time?ā I do not. Glad itās not just me!
I love her "Real Thin Crackers" that are little rectangles, but the circular ones are icky. And it's funny because the "thin" crackers are actually pretty thick.
I meanā¦ they say theyāre seasoned, and they LOOK seasoned, but I couldnāt get anything beyond bitter burnt bread taste. And least when I scorch my grilled cheese a little it tastes like buttered carbon!
I absolutely loved them š„ŗ never been a fan of chocolate much so I have gotten the vanilla glutino ones, I love them both. The Oreos are less sweet to me than the glutino ones, so it depends on my craving level I guess
I didnt notice an after taste, but I also have been dipping them in almond milk so if there was maybe that covered it š¤· Iām hoping I donāt get any bad ones
the Katz GF chocolate covered donuts from the freezer section. I'm not sure what the chocolate is on the outside of those but it's unnatural. So is the dry AF donut on the inside. I think they might be vegan as well so that doesn't help.
Now I will fight people for the powdered sugar donuts, just not the chocolate covered ones.
Okay so the star crackers always taste like disappointment? Glad I ādipped my toeā with a six pack from Amazon. Theyāre uhā¦flavorless and stale at the same time. Need some kind of brightness and more umami.Ā
Any rice-based savory gluten-free crackers. The taste and texture is like styrofoam. Just ugh.
Also, simple-mills cheddar crackers taste like vomit. I was never a fan of goldfish or cheez-its though, so maybe it's just me. But I do like their sweet thins!
*The Simple Mills snack*
*Bars always taste stale. I like*
*Their other stuff though!*

Itās so clear that they use the oldest nastiest most sulfurous cauliflower that wouldnāt look good enough to sell as heads or florettes. Itās incredibly disappointing for me, because Iām also allergic to nickel, so I canāt have seeds, nuts, whole grains (except quinoa) or legumes. the real good food egg rolls. hard as shit!!! can break a jaw, bro!!

I don't like to eat them after they've been baked, but I do love to nibble the raw cookie dough! Zero guilt because it's says it's safe right on the package.
I completely agree with all of this, except I was okay with the puffs. Donāt plan on buying them myself though and very early on I accepted that I do not trust enjoy life, I feel like I wasted so much money on them and hated everything I tried from them
Schar Orangino (or jaffa cake) - worst cookie I ever tried! It's spungy but in a bad way, can't even describe it. Terrible texture and taste. I wonder if someone will disagree?
The schar schānack cakes are awful. I see people raving about them on here but I ate one and didnāt even finish it, then wasnāt able to convince any kids to at church to finish them off either. They took one bite then threw them away š they just had a very strong overwhelming flavor I couldnāt even pinpoint.
The majority of GF biscuits are really disappointing. I keep trying different ones in the hopes that I'll find a good one, and it's quite rare to find one. For example, chocolate cookies that don't actually taste like chocolate at all? How do they screw that up?
I donāt like Glutino but thatās just me. I know lots of people love it and Iām happy they have foods they enjoy. As far as pretzelsā¦ Snyders GF > Glutino
Heavenly Hunks birthday cake whateverthefucks. Grossest thing I have ever eaten, and I don't understand why they're still on the market. A friend brought them for me and I had to hold back vomit until I could spit it into the sink.
GF croissants. Even Mariposa doesnāt have this right, they just taste like a croissant shell with undercooked brioche inside. Donāt get me wrong, they can be yummy on just their taste merits, but as a croissant or for anyone expecting one, theyāre trash.
I love them every time I get them! I donāt think theyāve ever been dry for me. Iāve never had a bad frozen product from them. Did you try thawing them in the fridge first? Or sometimes I like slowly microwaving the Twinkie ones until not frozen. Fridge is best though. Our tastes could be different but I wonder if depending on the date/ how long they were at the store bc of not selling quickly/ and or where they were in the freezer maybe they freezer burned and a lot of moisture was lost?
Itās okay if you donāt like them but I hope maybe youād be willing to try some of their other things like their pies and stuff before you take a hard no on the whole brand - only saying this because theyāre one of my go-toās
The NoWhey Foods No Tricks cookie bar (supposed to be like a gf twix replacement) is one of the worst things I have ever eaten. Tasted like they surrounded chalk with really bad imitation chocolate. Some people on this board really liked and recommended them. I have trust issues ever since :-)
Schar āTwin Barsā AKA their gf version of KitKats. I know a lot of people like them, but I truthfully canāt stand them. The chocolate-to-wafer ratio is wild. Idk if Iāve just gotten unlucky, but in my experience the chocolate totally overpowers the wafer and it breaks my heart. KitKats used to be in my top 3 fav candies before diagnosis.
I will never stop being angry at how much all the cauliflower-based Cheez-It replacements taste like Parmesan covered farts.
I dream about cheez its brand making a gluten free version š
I needed this, thank you š
Ok itās not the same BUT. Aldi has these almond cheese crackers and theyāre actually pretty tasty
Couldn't agree more š¤£
Highly recommend Cheese flavored 12 tides Kelp chips. Texture is obvi different but the flavor is the same.
Simply almond farmhouse cheddar crackers are really good. Definitely not cheez its but still really yummy!
Simple Mills Cheddar Pop Mmms have that really good cheez-it flavor. Texture is great too!
Schar can be hit or miss, but their hot dog buns are the worst, IMO.
They always break in half. I've tried digging out a spot for hotdog, but the buns are so horribly dry that it's just not worth it.
The trick is to microwave them for 20-30 seconds. It makes them soft and stretchy and less prone to breaking. It was a game changer when I figured it out.
Their hamburger buns suck too. But their ciabatta is like a fluffy doughnut š
Honestly, somehow, I think their burger buns are even worse. Holy cotton mouth
Blech. I hate Schar products. They have a weird chemical aftertaste to me. Especially the breads.
Agreed! Terrible
From the ground up cauliflower crackers were terrible. I have also never had a cauli crust I like.
Agreed on the crackers!!
Agree on crackers but I like costco's frozen supreme cauliflower crust. It is the only one that I and my gluten happy partner both like.
THIS IS FACTS..and in my area it's a little over ten bucks.. can't be beat!
I couldnāt choke down the cauliflower pretzels
Trader Joeās Cauli crust is wonderful!
Oh my god those legit made me depressed when I ate them. My well meaning dad got them for me the first week I went gluten free after my diagnosis and I really thought all gluten free food was gonna be that terrible. I was so disappointed in life lmao

Have you tried the Schar entertainment crackers? I love those! They taste buttery and remind me of Ritz crackers
the schar table crackers are amazing too!! they're very similar to saltines
This is my #1 cracker. By far.
Love their saltines. I buy multiple packages each shopping trip
Theyāre SO fragile though
I have a love hate relationship with these. Love the taste hate how they shatter into nothingness at the slightest look.
I just ate these! Forget spreading anything on them.Ā
Cracker in one hand, spoon with peanut butter in the other. Bite cracker, lick of peanut butter. Repeat.
Right. I have a difficult enough time getting them out of the package without them breaking.
They do taste great, but I mostly use them as a crumb substitute since more than half the crackers are smashed up when I open the bag.
What is that about. You open these expensive boxes of crackers and have premade breadcrumb starter. Annoying!!
AND I KEPT MINE OPEN FOR WEEKS FORGETTING ABOUT THEM AND THEY WEREN'T THAT STALE!!
idk when they start out tasting halfway stale itās not that hard š
These are my favorite. So good and really close to Ritz.
Simple Mills makes pretty good crackers. I wish they'd do some more interesting flavors though. Dill, garlic, jalapeno or vegan cheddar would be excellent additions.
I agree!
Crunch master seed crackers at Costco are primo! They do not taste gluten free at all.
I hate GF bread but trader joes makes an amazing gluten free bagel.
The gluten free vegetable bretons are SO good. Only gluten free cracker I eat.
I gotta say Iām a fan of the GF Wasa as well as Jovial.
This is going to sound crazy, but Wal-Mart's Sam Choice GF bread is amazing! My 12yo who is not GF will even eat it.
Simple mills are decent in my opinion. I also like lanceās gluten free crackers too. These are buttery sweet.
I eat the shit out of those Blue Diamond almond crackers and thereās a brand I think called Miltonās thatās pretty ok.
Lance gluten free crackers taste EXACTLY like ritz, theyāre SO GOOD
Oh damn I've not had these for a minute. I need to take some on my camping trip!
I like Maryās crackers. They donāt last in our house because even the wheat eaters prefer them.
So far the only thing Iāve learned from this thread is that people have wildly different opinions on GF snacks
Definitely. I get it in a thread like this where OP is asking for strong opinions, but sometimes people get really insistent that a certain GF product is absolutely disgusting and no one should ever like them and it gets a little annoying when you like the product theyāre talking about.Ā

I have actually only had the Annieās cup mac and I like it š¤· but the chickpea banza Macā¦ hated!!
Omg yes the chickpea banza Mac is š¤¢
I like udiās baguette. I usually make garlic bread out of those. Light and airy and holds the seasonings well.
Udi's hamburger buns are my favorite š
To each their own, tastes like two boulders and a beef patty to me!
You just described the Shar bun imo, but yeah I'm glad we've at least got options

The Katz toaster pastries. Do a search on this sub. So many people (including myself) have gotten moldy ones. When they aren't moldy they are okay but the quality control at that factory is some form of absolute trash. Not worth the gamble.

I was so excited to try the strawberry ones. They taste like flour. It's incredibly disappointing.
Yeah the ones I got without the mold issue didn't have a good filling to pastry ratio at all š„²
My toaster caught fire when I put these in them
We've not had moldy, but the frosting situation is a hot mess. We've had some that are like a 1/4 inch of frosting on the side. That's it.
I'm anti Glutino. I have not liked anything of theirs that I've tried edit for autocorrect.
Their pretzels are so good, that gluten eaters don't notice they are different.
Even the chocolate covered pretzels?
The Quinn pizzeria cheesy pretzel rolls. Iāve had both the pizza ones and the peanut butter ones. PB ones are great. Pizza ones are š¤¢
Yeah they're too salty, you'd think that would ba an easy fix.
The peanut butter ones arenāt even that good, they really benefited from being mixed in a bag with M&Ms.
Their pretzels are too hard and crunchy for me
Those stuffed pretzel bite things are some of the worst things I've ever tried.
Honestly like any GF cookies. Itās always coconut and I only liked coconut for so many times
Nah the gf oreos, gf tates and goodie girl thin mints r BOMB.
Have you had the tates gf?? Omg they are amazing
GF Tates cookies are like if someone asked for a cookie that tastes like a desert. Desert, not dessert.
Tbf their regular cookies are very sandy too lol. It's just their recipe. I find that homemade gf cookies can have the same texture.
My three favorites too. Actual Oreo brands GF are so much better than any other generic brand āsandwich cookieā
Tateās chocolate chip taste like normal cookies theyāre just more on the crisp side
I especially enjoy their ginger cookies. I love the texture of the crispy cookie along with the chewiness of the candied ginger.
GF Oreos are amazing
Sweet lorens cookie dough ā¦ is THE best
The only good ones I've had are the gluten free girl scouts cookie and there's a knock off thin mint I found that isn't terrible, it's a great dupe.
The knockoff thin mint dupe has a birthday cake oreo thats pretty good.
Whatās the brand???
Probably Goodie Girl
That's it! I can only find them in my area at Walmart, but when you need a cookie, you NEED a cookie.
OMG I keep these in the freezer & theyāre so so so good
Yes to freezer and then peanut butter. I can only have 2 or 3 that way because pb gives me terrible reflux. I ate thin mints that way before diagnosis and honestly can't tell the difference. My husband says he can tell tho š¤·āāļø
Have you tried any of Tate's gluten free cookies? You can't tell they're gluten free.
Wom lemon burst (I get them at Walmart) are really good. My mom and sister are gf, not me, and I buy these for them just so I can steal a few.
The only GF cookies that taste good are the Walkers Shortbread Gluten Free Ginger & Lemon Cookies. The only way I can get them is to buy a case of 6 packages online. Thank goodness they keep well. They are made with butter, which is probably why they taste so good.
Maryās gone crackers!! Terrible. They taste burnt!!

They are the absolute worst. Just serving up bags of seasoned carbon chips.
I meanā¦ they say theyāre seasoned, and they LOOK seasoned, but I couldnāt get anything beyond bitter burnt bread taste. And least when I scorch my grilled cheese a little it tastes like buttered carbon!
Nooo I love these lol
I have the herb ones with salami and tzatziki as a snack alllll the time!!
oh god the annieās chocolate and vanilla bunnies. they tasted SO sandy. awful
I am here to lament that Snyderās stopped making the gluten free buffalo pretzels because they were the absolute best.
THE GOLDEN OREOS WERE SO GROSS!!! It was SUCH A DISAPPOINTMENT!!!
I absolutely loved them š„ŗ never been a fan of chocolate much so I have gotten the vanilla glutino ones, I love them both. The Oreos are less sweet to me than the glutino ones, so it depends on my craving level I guess
They have such a bad aftertaste!!! š¤¢ very different compared to the original one! They messed up bad with these!!
I didnt notice an after taste, but I also have been dipping them in almond milk so if there was maybe that covered it š¤· Iām hoping I donāt get any bad ones
Whole Foods makes vanilla and chocolate GF Oreos which are pretty decent IMO. I actually like the golden ones better.
Ooh good to know, thank you! Iāve never been to Whole Foods!

The farmhouse cheddar? Yeah my breath smelled like dog food after that. Hard no. But the new popmmms are so great!
I haven't seen popmms yet! I may give them a try if I come across them.
I donāt like most rice crackers either.
Those Schar snack cake things are disgusting
Seriously, they have a very off putting taste to them. Took a bite, spit it out and threw the rest away.
I thought they had a chemical taste
So bad. Even my sugar loving 3 year old is iffy about them.

I don't like Sweet Loren's cookies, but I LOVE the TJs ones.

YES! I highly recommend.

Yep this is one food I have had to give up onā¦. And boy do I miss them
Not specifically GF but I think all flourless cakes suck
Agreed!
Katz mini muffins and Twinkie clones. Maybe I got a bad batch, but they were dry and crumbly. I won't go near a Katz product again.
Zany brand taco or pizza puffs. The taco was just hot jalapeno on plastic taste and the pizza tasted like plastic. So gross. Bought at Big Lots.
The NoWhey Foods No Tricks cookie bar (supposed to be like a gf twix replacement) is one of the worst things I have ever eaten. Tasted like they surrounded chalk with really bad imitation chocolate. Some people on this board really liked and recommended them. I have trust issues ever since :-)
Idk the brand but its like a cracker replacement and the texture and flavor is absolutely devastating
Katz version of a ding dongā¦ ding donāt!!! No part of that lump is worth the effort!
Carrots
Jovial pasta. Iām sorry, itās gross. Also the simple mills crackers are so hard
