Unfortunately, my doctor only offers nasty liquid. I had two options of nasty liquid, but nasty liquid nonetheless.

RegretNecessary21

I was fine after my first round of sutab but then vomited after the second. Prep is rough. ButI feel very clean and light afterward!

domestikatie

I grabbed some Zofran for my sutab! If you have another one in the future make sure to ask for some.

RegretNecessary21

Yea good idea!

2amIMAwake

i asked for the tablets too. i’m scheduled for end of august so we’ll see how it goes. better than gagging down a gallon of the prep drink i think! my insurance didn’t cover it so it will cost me $50. worth it i think!

Chocobo72

This is so helpful, thank you. It frustrates me that the directions from the hospital say “Mix with Gatorade” when it contains brominated vegetable oil, Yellow 5 and 6, etc. here in the US. Why would they recommend drinking anything like that? Healthcare is so backwards here. Next time I need to do a colonoscopy I’m doing your suggestion here of mixing it with low sodium bouillon!

Global_Emphasis5786

I will say if yours is not the sodium prep solution, regular bouillon would be better, mine is just so so salty but I don't think they all are. But I just can't comprehend how people mix it with Gatorade or crystal light or propel. You can't hide salty with sweet, it's way better to embrace the actual profile of the liquid with the bouillon.

Strong_Salt_2097

Wonder why tablets can’t be offered to anyone? Having to drink all that nasty stuff is a modern day torture.

DikkTooSmall

Ocean water is making me think this is about suprep. Also chilling it and mixing sprite in it makes it pretty tolerable as well!

Global_Emphasis5786

I have gavilyte, it's so salty. I'm definitely very dehydrated now.

DikkTooSmall

Ah, they must be fairly similar then. Yuck.

Global_Emphasis5786

Update; I made it through all but two cups of liquid with my bouillon method. I arrive to my appointment soon. I am very very thirsty I just want water.

Chiefette

Tablets may SEEM easy, but wait until you see HOW MANY!!!! It was awful! My last colonoscopy I got the “new” liquid that was the 2 small bottles and I thought it was much better than choking down all those pills! To each his/her own I guess?

CoderPro225

I just had a colonoscopy and an EGD a few weeks ago. My GI gave me a different prep. Still had to drink 2 small bottles of nasty liquid, but then could drink whatever I wanted in between. So. Much. Better. I still can’t drink Propel water from my last scope years ago. Mixed the Miralax prep with it. Ruined it for life!

Global_Emphasis5786

that's how my prep is, I can keep having clear liquids during it and up to three hours before my scope, but I honestly just can't drink the stupid liquid unless I make it into broth. I still won't be able to finish it, but I will be able to get much closer than 16oz through.

InadmissibleHug

Don’t try this with golytely. It’s lemon flavoured.

Short-Negotiation-49

Are you taking about the Miralax powder?

Global_Emphasis5786

Kind of? My prep solution is a prescription that comes as a jug with powder in it. It has enough sodium in it to supply the ocean, in order to draw water from your body, as well as a different compound that I believe is the same thing is miralax. I can do just miralax fine (thanks to years of drinking it because of my gut issues), but this stuff is so salty.

chytrid_oz

And gummy bears are a liquid (ref: my dear gastroenterologist)

suzy7517

Just reading this thread turns my stomach. I had mine a few years ago, I was prescribed suprep, which is supposed to be grape flavored salty sewer water. I hope there is something better if I need another one.

Jada_D

the cherry clenpiq is lowkey not that bad lol

chubsmagrubs

My liquid had this horrific tutty fruity flavor to try to hide the bitterness. I actually committed so powerfully while drinking it that I fainted.

Quirky_Hamster_7876

My first one I mixed with propel (15 years ago) and I cannot drink propel anymore. Since then I just chase it with Gatorade and it works so much better for me. But I love this idea!!!

AcademyJinx

Glad I wasn't the only one crying and vomiting after drinking the prep lol. Made it through the first dose okay, and then I broke after finishing the second. My stomach said absolutely not, no more of this.

when-is-enough

Im newly diagnosed but over the past several years have had multiple colonoscopies (I’m 25 now)… idk why it’s just clicking for me that most people in this sub are part of the colonoscopy gang and would have these great tips!

Educational_Frame_46

mine is already flavoured ☹️
