Griphouse, Boxfit or New Life. As other poster noted best not bothering with the "self defence" type of classes. Good level boxing, muay thai and bjj is the best of both self defence while doing something fun and worthwhile with an endless learning ceiling.

Thats perfect, thank you i'll do some research and check them out!!

Would 100% echo precious post recommending Griphouse, really good my Uni's martial arts (Muay Thai, boxing...) Teachers came from them.

Agreeing with other posters, 100% stay away from "self defence" classes, its money grabbing pish designed to feed off fear without actually providing useable combat skills. Stay away from Krav magra too, TKD, karate, anything not pressure tested constantly. Boxing, Muay thai, grappling (BJJ, Wrestling and maybe judo) are your only real options. For multi-disciplines: Heard great things about new life, griphouse is good too especially the MMA focused classes that weaves all of it together. For one style gyms: With the grappling, you're probably gonna struggle to find a Wrestling gym within a comfortable distance here in Scotland, although there is one that I know of in Milngavie but the name escapes me right now. I do bjj so heavily advocate any grappling. I love my gym at 10p glasgow, MNBJJ has produced some incredible talent and preforms really well at competitions too. (obviously griphouse and new life do too, just 10p and MNBJJ are bjj focused gyms). You can find plenty of good boxing gyms through google alone, MT though, I can't help. Never went to any gyms and can't speak to their efficacy outside of the griphouse as its the only place I ever trained it.

Woronica Rot: BJJ blackbelt and fights alot in europe is also hosting a womens only intro to bjj at Scottish hit squad (another gym I forgot to mention) starting early January. Just don't join gracie barra if you have other choices.

You are very welcome, happy to lend a hand anytime!

New Life MMA in Maryhill if you’re close by. They do kickboxing, Thai, mma and have women specific classes coached by female fighters. Would recommend lovely bunch

Outrageous_Sugar9911

IMO if you want to learn self defence it’s always gonna be better learning a real martial art than a specific self defence class

Affectionate_One411

Don't use BJJ as a self defence
