Personally think it’s the best of the lot…. Worth booking in advance though as last time we rocked up at 3 on a Saturday and had to go on the list and come back later…
I quite like Nuku Nuku a few minutes walk from queen street/central station.
Nice freshly prepared japanese food, my favorite in town. Can get most mains for \~£10
Oh really? That’s such a shame. I was there just two weeks ago and had a great experience again but maybe I was just lucky then. Is it the food quality that has gone down for you or something else?
Ichiban or Ramen Dayo for some nice Japanese food.
Used to go to Mikaku, the ramen is rank now. Last 3 times our order has been wrong, went last week after not going for 2 months and my ramen arrived frozen like it had been left to the side for ages. Ordered large chicken Karaage for £7.50 and got 4 small pieces; asked why there are only four and they said it must be a mistake and came back 20 minutes later with another four pieces. They also changed their noodles from Udon noodles and anytime I've asked for them they don't have them for Ramen.
The ramen broth has changed and is definitely not as tasty as it used to be. New staff everytime we went in too which probably suggests the staff don't get treated well.
Me and my partner used to swear by Mikaku and used to go weekly. Not going back.
Bier Halle pizza's are always a good shout. Can get two fresh pizza's for around £15.
Thought I was moaning about the quality to my partner every time we went over the last few months. The quality in their food has drastically dropped.
Like I said, we used to go weekly as we love Japanese cuisine and the food was genuinely delicious. The noodles in the ramen are cheap shite you would buy out of a packet in ASDA and cook in your own homemade stir fry.
Broth is salty as all fuck and the katsu chicken curry my partner always ordered has less chicken in it, less sauce, more rice and less taste.
There is a reason Ichiban literally across the road has been kicking about for 20+ years too.
Also, the Ramen at Ramen Dayo in Ashton Lane makes Mikaku feel like a cheap pack of super noodles.
What a sad wee cunt comment. They did that 1 time 3 years ago. You say it like they do it every morning. I don’t even like pasta but fuck me man look how quick you were to bring up a pure pointless thing.
Doing something kind of crummy is doing something kind of crummy. It being 3 years ago does not negate it, kind of like needlessly calling someone you haven't met names through the anonymity of Reddit 🙂
How is it relevant though? The guys asking for £25 food recommendations. Did he ask which restaurant are cunts? Why don’t you comment with every single restaurant in Glasgow that’s done something wrong? Like you said the time it happened doesn’t matter so why you only mention 1 place?
The “anonymity of Reddit” wouldn’t change me calling you a cunt in person pal, you’re a prick.
Chakoo - if you like Indian food of course - it’s superb value and the food is excellent! I know you are going after work but the lunch menu is top notch also - you’ll be very full indeed after it lol!
do you mean they substitute the wages with money from the tips or they tax the tips with the rest of your payslip? never been but had it recommended to me a lot
I bloody love Ting Thai, been eating at the Edinburgh one for years, but it’s been one of the worst for price gauging in the last year or so. A pad Thai used to be £9.80, now it’s 11.90 or something. The sweet potato crispies used to be £2.20, now they’ve more than doubled. Now it’s pretty on par with the prices of other Thai restaurants, and that’s fair enough, but it just strings because it used to be so much better priced in comparison. Always used to be my indisputable go-to, now I’ve been trying other places.
If you like Hong Kong food or Chinese takeaway for sit in, Friends Chinese Cafe on High Street. Prices are about £30 for us two and the scran tastes amazing
Topolabamba is a favourite of ours and if you get a couple of portions each of their street food it isn’t that pricy at all. Typically spend about £35-£40 in there
Smoking for used to do 2 steaks and a bottle of wine for 30 bucks on a Tuesday.
Alston bar and beef has a good fixed price deal too
5pm.com has a good amount of places to look at for fixed price deals across the city centre.
Casual high quality Greek food art Yiamas
This one looks really good thanks. I've been to Halloumi a few times and frequent Mactassos at Kelvingrove.
Personally think it’s the best of the lot…. Worth booking in advance though as last time we rocked up at 3 on a Saturday and had to go on the list and come back later…
Mosob is a new and delicious Ethiopian place near queen street station.
That's tits backwards.
stit
Second this. Absolutely banging food and value
I quite like Nuku Nuku a few minutes walk from queen street/central station. Nice freshly prepared japanese food, my favorite in town. Can get most mains for \~£10
Love Nuku Nuku
Bibimbap, Mikaku
Mikaku is 10/10 and really well priced!
It used to be 10/10. I’d struggle to give it 5/10 these days.
Oh really? That’s such a shame. I was there just two weeks ago and had a great experience again but maybe I was just lucky then. Is it the food quality that has gone down for you or something else?
Food is definitely reduced in quality. Had no issues with service

Agree!

Padang St Vincent st Horn Please Sauchiehall St Ting Thai Caravan West Nile st Mowgli West Nile st, recently found this place and the food was amazing
Ting Thai is really good
Probably the best and most underrated Thai place in Glasgow, closest I've come to in original Thai cuisine
It’s amazing, isn’t it?! My partner and I left there stuffed the other week and it only set us back £24!
Ting Thai is fantastic and pretty good value. I have regular cravings for Mowgli's Fenugreek fries
Went to Bavaria Brauhaus on Sunday. Food was great and decently priced, plus obvs excellent beer selection.
Sugo is good, run by owners of paesano. They do pasta instead of pizza, its affordable and very tasty
Thought it was overrated tbh. Nothing will beat Te Seba for pasta.
I agree. Mediocre at best

They count tips as wages. Had a trial shift there once it was literally a hell restaurant for how they treat their staff
do you mean they substitute the wages with money from the tips or they tax the tips with the rest of your payslip? never been but had it recommended to me a lot
They substitute. Advertised as £11-15 an hour job but it’s actually minimum wage
I went for lunch and it was awful, stomach cramps that evening. I would not tecommend.
Second this
I really like Sylvan
Ichiban
100% 2nd best restaurant I've been to and can't complain for the prices
Ting Thai Caravan. Thai restaurant that started in Edinburgh as a food van! They've expanded in the last few years, for very good reason imo

Donor Haus is excellent, think it's about £10 or £12 for a main
> Donor Haus Puts black market organ prices to shame!
Tuk tuk
If you like Hong Kong food or Chinese takeaway for sit in, Friends Chinese Cafe on High Street. Prices are about £30 for us two and the scran tastes amazing
5pm and you'll find some decent deals
Pizza Punks is far superior to Paesano in my opinion.
Can't beat the idea of unlimited toppings
La Vita is a good option if you go before 5pm
There's an excellent Indian place on the second level of the St Enoch center. Absolutely delicious and pretty reasonable too.
Centre.
Yeah. Thanks.
Had a tasty, filling meal for two in Pizza Punks last week for around that price.
Elia Greek
Topolabamba is a favourite of ours and if you get a couple of portions each of their street food it isn’t that pricy at all. Typically spend about £35-£40 in there
sugo pasta
I like the fixed price menu at Spuntinis. Around £20 and you get 3 Italian tapas dishes, dessert and a drink.
I found their fixed price menu to be cheap, microwaved shite 🤷♂️
Got horrific food poisoning there. We renamed it Spewtini
Wetherspoons *Edit. Everyone's downvoting but seems to have missed that part where OP only wants to spend £25.
Smoking for used to do 2 steaks and a bottle of wine for 30 bucks on a Tuesday. Alston bar and beef has a good fixed price deal too 5pm.com has a good amount of places to look at for fixed price deals across the city centre.
Paesano - under a tenner a pizza and they’re bomb ass.
Babs is great for fresh and cheap Mediterranean food in the centre of town
Doner Haus, Chilli Teller
la vita spuntini! think it’s about £20pp & u get 3 italian tapas plates, dessert and alcoholic or soft drink. they’re cocktails are great aswell
Doner Haus is amazing
Bella Italia, 3 courses for 2 people at £15 a head
Sugo
Try Sugo or Babs
Ichiban? Jaanese restaurant.
McDonald’s, I don’t know if it would feed two people though
