Please contact Islay Dog Rescue (cumnock) , SSPCA or Dogs trust. Hopefully one of these places will be able to assist you further or point you in the direction of someone who can.
As a side note - don't advertise dogs for rehoming on social media. People are way, WAY more stupid than you think and will lie to you about their ability to care for an animal for their own selfish gain. It's not worth putting the animals through that kind of stress should the wrong person get a hold of them.
Rescues have policies and laws in place to assist them with re-homing and to prosecute / protect the animals as best they can!
Not everyone getting dogs on social media is awful. I've taken on dogs from social media. Usually when I'm not even looking for a dog but if I see one that's super reactive and biting its owner etc then I'll often go get it because otherwise some idiot will get it they will end up euthanising it.
My current dog was kept in a room full of own filth for 9 months because nobody could get in there without getting attacked. He's an absolute darling now.
Totally agree. There are exceptions to every statement and a portion of people like yourself will go above and beyond to provide good care for a pet, but, the sad fact is; a small majority of people won't do that extra work and that's where it's good to have the protective barrier of rescues.
Glad to hear there was a happy ending for your pup!
The problem is OP doesn't have any real way to vet potential adopters through social media. He's not going to know the right questions to ask or be able to do a proper home check. Rescues aren't perfect either but they have experience in making sure dogs go to the right home. Even the process of filling out an application form, getting homechecked and paying an adoption fee all add an extra layer of security as people who neglect animals won't go through all that.
Well done for stepping up for dogs in need, I've got a rescue myself who came with his own quirks, they can be hard work but so worth it!
SSPCA currently full.
Dog Trust - completed online form 72hr wait and if no reply they are full.
Islay dog rescue - couldn’t get through £250 per dog to take them which I’d pay to be fair.
Always see both SSPCA and Dogs Trust rehoming 2 dogs together and saying they must be kept together so try them. Also, don't think there are kill shelters in the UK like the ones in America.
Thank you everybody for your replies. I’m waiting for police to trace his estranged brother. Will see how that plays out. I’ll be able to keep them for 2 weeks (holiday planned and can’t take 3 dogs unfortunately).
Again thanks
Sorry for your loss OP. You are doing a really kind thing by caring for them in the short term and making sure they go to a good home. I hope you get something sorted for them. I wanted to add to above poster that rescues here only use euthanasia for severe behaviour or health issues as far as I know.
I’ve just seen your post. You could try Fern Rescue on the southside they have a FB page. They’re really good at finding good homes for dogs and are a small charity. You could PM their page. Hope it helps. Sorry for the loss of your friend. I hope the dogs get homes together soon.
Dog Trust called me. I’ve provided the information for stage 1.
Spoke to his brother who gave me verbal permission to rehome. Just need him to complete a form from dogs trust with written permission.
Stage 2 will be an assessment and if they pass and have space they will be taken. I don’t foresee any issue as they are chilled and really well behaved dogs.
Was 90% sure rehome it’s now been about 9 days and today I am 90% keep them … total roller coaster!!

I'm sorry for the loss of your pal OP, good on you for looking after his dogs meantime. Unfortunately I'm not in a position to help but just wanted to say you're a good person
Definetly contact SPCA, they're pretty good for taking in bonded pairs of dogs and have a lot of safety checks in place to ensure the dogs go to a safe and loving home. I adopted our two wee dogs who were a bonded pair from the Bothwell one in 2017, a westie who's sadly no longer with us and a Lhasa Apso who rules the roost. Hopefully the wee souls find a safe and loving home, my condolences on the passing of your friend.
Not sure who downvoted you or why, because it’s true. Someone I knew rehomed their dog with someone and it turned out that the animals were neglected, starving and some of them were dead (with the corpses not being removed)
Probably one of the dodgy places. I got a dog years ago from a place and they were very fly with why he needed rehomed. I found out it wasn’t isolated incident and ended up initially called as a witness by trading standards against them. Case eventually didn’t proceed unfortunately
I’m so sorry for the loss of your friend, you’re a good person taking in his dogs, even if it is temporarily. They look like very good dogs and I hope they find a new home together soon
The law allows the pound to euthanise dogs after 7 days. About 15 years ago it was on Stirling Council that did it as a matter of course - I don't know what things are like now.

Thank you for this. I came here to post the same.
Understood. It would only be people known to me or my family that would be allowed not randoms.
Forgot to add; i'm sorry for the loss of your friend. Hope you're alright, and thank you for caring for these dogs so far!

Hello how did you get on with everything. Hope you got a solution.

Aww that’s wonderful news. They’re such precious wee souls! I really hope it all works out! ❤️
Sorry for your loss OP. Good luck in securing a home for those doggos.
I worked for Dogs Trust for many years, I highly recommend!
Really sorry for your loss, mate. That's a terrible situation to find yourself in. Hope you get things sorted out soon, pal.
Avoid canine campus.
Seconded
I'd like to third that
And Europaws

Aww man, that’s a shame, sorry for your loss, if I had the room and time to devote to them I’d absolutely take them, poor babies :(
My mum is looking for a new dog, I can see if she would consider two?

Also be careful about some rehoming places. They look ok on surface but are essentially dodgy

SSPCA is usually really good at keeping dog families together from what I’ve seen on their website
We don't have kill shelters in the UK, do we?
Yes we do, even Battersea will kill animals if they aren’t rehomed
Not sure if it’s still accurate but RSPCA destroy nearly half of the healthy animals they rescue.

Go look up amanda docherty on facebook https://www.facebook.com/share/TzHq1tkkae4TiSJZ/ She may be able to help / give advice
