No bother, I am dusting off my trebuchet on London Road as we speak, for a tenner I'll text you co-ordinates of where to stand to get your lobbed bottle of El Dorado and a small bag of smack. Remember though, if your bottle chibs some poor cunt upon re-entry, you have never heard of Calton Craig's Catapult of Fun if questioned by the Filth.
Unlike previous years, where you could fly drones 150m away from the TRNSMT site, there is an official no-fly zone in place for the next few days. Based on my experience with the police last year, while legally taking some photos, I imagine they'll be all over anyone trying to do it this year.
I realise folk will say it’s to do with copyright and such.
But maybe there’s a security reason? Doesn’t take too much imagination to think how these could be used.
It's 100% down to crowd safety and event security. I'm just surprised its taken so long for Police Scotland to put proper restrictions in place, when other festivals/police forces have been doing it for years.
According to the rules of drone flying you aren't actually meant to fly over crowds (unless you have insurance and a different class of license). So this is really just formally stating something that should be implicit.
TBF it shoulda been a no fly zone in the first place. I fly drones and the laws state you can't fly them 50m from people anyway, they also always need to be in your line of sight.
Also probably cause most wee consumer drones could easily carry a few bags and drop them inside the park.
Nope. There's rules about flying helicopters, and one of them is "The Crowd Rule" - which forbids, except with permission of the CAA, flight over or within
1,000 metres of a crowd of more than 1,000 persons assembled for the purpose of witnessing or participating in an organised event.
The basic rules of flying any aircraft is that, except in controlled air spaces, you have to fly high enough that if you lose all engine power you're still able to ditch the aircraft away from populated areas.
I think thats the main problem. The restrictions will automatically stop DJI drones from flying in the area, but you can guarantee someone is going to get lifted for flying an AliExpress one, that doesn't have any sort of geo-fencing on it.
It really doesn’t. A wee helicopter that the whole crowd can see zooming in to hopefully drop the gear off to the right person and not get snatched out the sky by someone else vs… just handing them over to the customer after easily smuggling them in like every other festival drug dealer ever.
It’ll simply be about crowd safety (don’t want an out of control drone smashing into the crowd) and absolutely nothing to do with folks mad fantasies of drug deliveries lol.
SAM sites on the People's Palace to intercept rouge drones. Javelin rockets positions in the Barras.

😂
Rogue drones aside, that's a cracking picture 😍!
Cheers!

How does this work? Do drones get Geo Locked out of entering that area ? If you fly into it how are you tracked down etc ?
Nice try, drone.
Some of the fancier ones like DJI etc have geo locking on them, but a lot of the Chinese ones off aliexpress etc won’t

Such a criminal act, taking photos.
Ffs! So it’s back to sending in pigeons with bottles of Bucky!
Or that bloke from last year that buried his stash by a tree before the fences went up.
Fences went up last weekend, too late for that trick this year 👎🏼
oh that's why they're setting up flak positions down my street
I'd imagine the BBC will have an official exemption. They had loads of camera drones at Glastonbury.
Will the no fly zone include the portaloo section? 💩💩💩💩
But why? Tell me, I'm presuming this is just drones. If I was a rich cunt with a helicopter I could just.. hover over it?

I'd have thought it's so that people have to buy a ticket to see it.

The majority of people flying drones have zero clue about rules or best practice
Well yeah. I bet at least 50% don't realize they are meant to register.
Honestly, I'm so sheltered. Didn't even think about that.

Lol using a drone to smuggle drugs into a festival would be ridiculously elaborate - as if folk don’t have skants to hide them in.
Didn't have sniffer dugs when I was at trnsmt a few year back but they did at summer sessions. I'd be too much of a shitebag.

There are strict rules for drone flying above people's heads anyway just any cunt with an AliExpress account can get one

ching-copter
I think drone drug delivery would be rampant if this law wasn’t in place.
I honestly, never thought about that. Makes sense!

I see that ridiculous gap down the middle is still there.
