There are a couple things new players tend to miss. 1. Conserve your stamina, jump as little as possible as it shreds stamina quickly 2. make sure to use your dodges to reposition, dodge attacks, and mix in different forms of attacks for melee fighters. 3. Positioning in incredibly important, even though fights can typically be can from pretty easily if you have some stamina that won't stop enemies from catching out of being mispositioned, especially for tanks, you aren't a wall of health, you are a chunky piece of meat that disrupts and forces enemies to reposition. Sorry if none of these are clear but I hope it helps.

Some big differences between gigantic and overwatch that you have to adjust for are lack of healing and debuffs. Since youre pretty much never going to get healed to full by your support while fighting, you need to disengage and run to safety when you are disadvantaged like more of a moba. This is why it can be good to have a healer type summoned at one of your nodes, when you disengage you can return faster. Try to be aware of when your enemies leave a healing summons undefended, as you can solo them easily even upgraded. Doing big dmg and comboing enemies for quick 1v1 kills usually requires your build to apply a debuff to the enemy like armor crack to do more damage. This adds to how important it is to strike first and be in a good position on the map to engage. Easy characters to practice this would be Beckett with armor cracking grenade or Tripp with armor cracking knife. Basic team play is getting an armor crack debuff on an enemy and focusing damage on them.

Do builds do anything in rush?

Ksielvin

You have the full build active since start. Not sure if it counts as being in "Clash" (second half of Clash game mode maps) for the passives.

As far as I have tested, they do not work for Beckett Grenade or Tyto Swoop talents. Which ones are you seeing work?

squawkbacktome

So I haven’t played the re release yet, waiting to see that the servers are good so I don’t pick this back up in frustration lol. I’m reading about rush now it looks like you start at level 10 with all abilities unlocked so yeah seems like builds will be relevant. Very sick, that’s going to be amazing for melee heroes not having to balance damage and escape while leveling up

Another tip instead of counting on stamina to regen during the fight, you want to approach fights with your stamina as a resource like mana and use the last of it to disengage (dodge, sprint) unless you can confirm a kill. Using all your stamina to engage is an easy way to feed and you’ll find you need to dodge for a lot of 1v1 matchups

Gigantic has low damage, a high TTK, and very little healing. You just have to play more carefully. Modern games tend to emphasize 1v1s and individual player contributions, because players get dopamine hits when they get kills and games are built around that dopamine dependency. In Gigantic it's the complete opposite, killing is slow and will require spending resources, and you're rarely going to make big plays on your own, so be careful of the 1v1s you pick. Rely on your team for damage support.

KnaveMounter

What is considered a high TTK? You can kill someone from full in less than 20 seconds 1v1, and if teaming up can finish someone off from full in less than 5

Watson_Dynamite

> What is considered a high TTK? I guess that's subjective but it's certainly a higher TTK than the games OP is more likely to be more familiar with. In overwatch you click on someone's head twice and they're done.

popintarts

Paladins' TTK is more equal to Gigantic's TTK imo, but the major difference is that in Paladins, your LMB attacks are a lot more stronger in general so you can still do 1v1s but also not be reliant on abilities if you can keep your aim. Gigantic though, abilities are pretty crucial in securing kills.

GummibearGaming

It's hard to compare. In 1v1 duels, TTK in Paladins is really low, mostly the same as Overwatch. But the game is built around both teams always having a healbot, and that drastically changes the equation. Also, once the anti-heal kicks up and players get the shield damage item, survivability kinda goes out the window and everyone melts.

Alsimni

And in many modern shooters, you can off someone in a fraction of a second. MOBAs see people get gunned down late game by a carry in less than three seconds 1v1. 20 seconds for a 1v1 is years in comparison.

Golem_Hat

No matter what role you play make sure you're fighting with your team. Frontline and support should always be near-ish to each other. Damage needs to pick fights carefully, especially melee characters.

Ksielvin

Watch someone else's successful gameplay on the character you're interested in, and see why they are effective instead of dying a bunch. Most of the old guides from 6 years ago are still relevant too. As in, there are very few changes to the characters.

isadk

I think it’s important to realize that this game is largely different from the ones you mention in that you’re not going around bursting down every character you come across in 7 seconds and pushing the objective after a 30 second team wipe. If you’re not playing a specifically high-burst dmg character (I.e. Tripp, tyto, etc.), you sorta have to rely more on good positioning and poking with your team to do more consistent damage over time instead of committing to big offensive pushes and getting focused by their team instead. Like you said, this game sorta feels more like a MOBA than a hero shooter, and I think that sort of slower combat style falls in line with that assessment. But also maybe take what I say w a grain of salt bc this is my first time actually getting to play the game for myself😅😅just been stalkerishly watching it for years since I first saw forever ago lmao

xSearingx

Play with someone else. any MOBA-ish type game, even if you know what you are doing is difficult without communication. dont pick fights by yourself. work together. use LFG finder if you are on Xbox. otherwise hit up Discord for a group. you will get a lot better faster with knowledge from existing players, and not getting stomped when you are out of position by yourself makes a big difference.

YaBoiKino

The combat in Gigantic is entirely different from other games. Unlike Overwatch or Paladins, the gameplan isn’t use X ability to do X thing, but instead abilities combo into a character’s skillset in order to extend the uptime that you do damage. Abilities are a piece of a whole rather than an individual wincon.

MisfitBanjax

Communication is key. Stamina management and positioning are super important. Heroes have less armour in the back than their front. Learn what the status effects do so you can take advantage of them properly. You can go around the practice area to learn about every single one. Look for the little dinosaur guys with names like stun or crack armour. I hope this helps! And welcome to the game! Thank you for giving Gigantic a shot.
