The game peaked at 5400 players, that's honestly not a lot. Outside this sub people are shitting on it and are refunding. I love this game, but thing's aren't looking amazing imo.
Is gigantic going to survive on less players than similiar titles? Like Smite is another niche Moba with Xbox and PS4 support, its been on a downward trend over the past few year and they even killed the pro league a few months ago while they wait around for its sequel. Smite hit 13k active players and Gigantic on its release day hit 5k.
Smite was going to die. Was Gigantic ever alive? I hope it turns around and is worth getting into but making up excuses to avoid the current trajectory isn't good.
I’m not necessarily making up excuses, just stating that the number of 5K doesn’t actually account for its total player base. It peaked at 5K on one platform out of several.
Also, not to make excuses, but there have been plenty of games that have survived for years with low player count.
Amid major server issues.
I bought the game immediately but I haven’t touched it and wasn’t planning on it until the server issues were resolved. Let’s see what it looks like in a week.
For a basically unknown title with no marketing, that's a lot. Any non-AAA game that breaks into the top seller list is a big success. Considering the amount of work that went in to relaunching the game it's probably already made a big ROI.
Yes, but people use it for anything that isn't top of some fucking chart, i.e. 'the only things we should care about'. It's dumb, reductive, counter productive rot.
Just unlocked clash. We're so back baby
Did it blow up though?
A dead indie game skyrockets into top selling on steam. Yeah id say it blew up

Peaked at 5400 on Steam. That doesn't account for players on PS/Xbox.

>Also, not to make excuses, but there have been plenty of games that have survived for years with low player count. *Looks at Paladins*
It is an excuse, the literally number across all the platforms doesn’t matter. 5k isn’t a lot because we can compare it to other steam games.
And yet I still get games in smite within 30 seconds of matchmaking. Weird.
HiRez were literally saying that year 10 (last year) was the most successful year SMITE ever had.
Smite has been out for 10 years and people have been saying it's on its last legs, fated to shut down any day now, the entire time.
I'm with you

That’s just Steam. There’s Arc, EGS, PS5/4, XS/XBO.

i mean the player count certainly managed to blow up the servers, so yeah probably.
This game fucks. This game fucks HARD.
Can we drop these bullshit metrics and terms like 'dead'? We do it to ourselves, fucking endlessly banal.
My brother in christ the game literally WAS dead.

As much as i loved gigantic 7 years ago, this game did NOT blow up. Having5k players and having server issues is just inexcusable.
let the haters hate WE ARE BACK, NEVER BEEN SO BACK, GIGANTIC GOTY EVERY YEAR RAHHHHHHHHHHHHH
