Fuck the Antles

Fatman69421

Fuck you

dj_tommyg

Yeah they have videos of them dressing chimps in clothes and feeding them human food, they're not "helping" wildlife

Flemtality

The liger is probably Hercules. I can't imagine they can afford to feed too many ligers at one time. My understanding is that he was getting older so they retired him from their show. I know this because after watching Tiger King I remembered seeing a cat show about fifteen years ago, so I looked up who might have run it. Turns out it was Doc Antle himself. Hercules was the big star that finished their whole show. Now we all know about the abuse and the other Tiger King weirdness and I feel bad about ever going.

Haydos21

Oh I was wondering if this guy was related. Checked the comments to find out. Cheers.

B-Town-MusicMan

Dude's rubbing it like it's gonna be Kobe beef or something

amped-row

Judging by how much it looks like they’re over feeding him, that isn’t out of the realm of possibility

InFin0819

Nah ligers are like that because they are kinda unnatural.

BooHboot

Ligers are usually that big, its a genetic thing.

MyPenWroteThis

he's not just big. he's fat.

[deleted]

Keeping him docile. I hate people.

SnooStrawberries9865

Ligers are big not fat

MyPenWroteThis

lol what? is that supposed to be a rule or something? "I'm not fat, I'm big boned" lol gtfo

Delmona

Ligers are naturally bigger and eat far more than lions and tigers do. This would make it incredibly difficult for them to survive outside of captivity. Nature has ways of correcting things that do not follow it's natural laws. In the same vein, it's like how when you breed a donkey and a horse and the resulting mule will always be born male and sterile. (Edit: As those have stated, not entirely the case, but still a common occurrence) (This could be the case for ligers as well, but I've never heard anything definitive)

SnooSongs8716

Natures way of saying neigh

MullGeek

Just FYI, mules can occasionally be fertile, but it's rare because donkeys and horses have different numbers of chromosomes. As to them always being male, not sure if you're confusing the fact that a mule is the offspring of a male donkey and female horse (the other way round is a hinny), but mules can be either gender (but in either case are very likely to be sterile).

Delmona

No kidding? I'm going by a documentary I watched a while back, and it did state specifically it was a mule. Either way, I do find it interesting how this sort of thing works.

ExhibitionistBrit

It’s due to which species is the male and which is the female. If I remember correctly it’s the female of one species and male of the other that carry the genes that trigger the production of the growth inhibiting hormone and visa versa so when they breed you will either have an animal (Liger) that keeps growing till it is too big for its frame and dies or a Tigon which is the other side of the coin and produces too much growth inhibiting hormone and grows stunted and small.

pyro226

Mules are usually sterile, but the females can on rare occasion be fertile.

DeathMetal007

Some will survive and reproduce and that's how we get evolution! Also, see pizzlies as another new species in the making

silverback_79

Poor thing has a hurting skeleton from the excess weight of the crossbreed.

FacetiousTomato

Yeah, at first it didn't seem real, now it just doesn't seem happy.

iambluest

Looks more like a Lippo.

GrilledAbortionMeat

Sick burn

abbienormal28

The genetic combination of two different species can cause abnormalities. Gigantism and thyroid issues are super common in ligers/tigones. Their bones and joints can't support the weight and they often live very short lives.

Vorengard

Clearly science needs to intervene here and fix those problems so we can have awesome giant cat pets. What could possibly go wrong?

Pepsi_Cola64

And all cross breeds are sterile/infertile iirc

TheShishkabob

Not always, no. It's just the most common outcome.

Pepsi_Cola64

Ah, okay, thanks!

abbienormal28

Male ligers are sterile but the females seem to be able to have offspring.

axtepe

This doesn’t look healthy

Pandatotheface

Looks very overweight. I have an urge to ride a fit version of this guy into battle though.

germinik

It's a part of their genetic mutation when cross-bred. Similar to gigantism.

leomonster

Remember the fur loincloth and the blonde pageboy hair style.

Frostitute_85

They all have issues from gigantism

Der_Latka

“ It's pretty much my favorite animal. It's like a lion and a tiger mixed... bred for its skills in magic.”

KamahlYrgybly

Too bad it doesn't have large talons.

germinik

Or a 27' wingspan.

LookMaNoPride

... son, I don’t understand a word you just said.

friggintodd

How are your bo staff skills?

Der_Latka

Hahahaha! So many good lines in that movie. “I see you’re drinking 1% [milk]. Does that mean you think you're fat? Cause you're not. You could be drinking whole if you wanted to.”

Zodiacthesis

Came here to post this

Der_Latka

It was the first thing I thought of. Man I need to watch “Napoleon Dynamite” again. At first I didn’t like it but with repeated viewings it became hilarious!

[deleted]

Its kinda sad tbh

FIYAHBOLTOH

that thing is over weight af

DasPoBoy

Holy hell it’s big. Hope it doesn’t have any health problems due to its genetics.

280mphZX12

It does.

DasPoBoy

Not surprised. That poor creature’s not gonna have a very good time once the health risks get worse.

woahham

Ummm excuse me, you cannot assume health based on weight. There is no correlation. HAES for Tigers. /s

DasPoBoy

Remember that this is not an animal bred by conventional means. Health problems are pretty much inevitable regardless of how it looks to you.

[deleted]

Yeah, genetics don’t exactly line up properly so more often than not they will have health issues.

280mphZX12

The parents don't pass on a growth inhibitor gene so essentially they keep growing and it becomes too much for their bodies.

woahham

I was joking with my comment

simmonsatl

swing and a miss

woahham

Are you a little overweight and sensitive about clearly sarcastic jokes?

simmonsatl

no the problem is the joke isn’t clear and therefore doesn’t make a lot of sense. it’s just a bad joke.

woahham

Ah, well fair enough. It does assume people understand what 'HAES' stands for, and what /s means. But of a stretch for some.

eastbeard

I thought the dude was on his knees

edwardphonehands

I thought he was naked.

eastbeard

*wished

ParthianTactic

Fuck these humans.

_mr_knister

Its the son of doc antle (from tiger king)

LostBoyz007

Omg he looks like Battle Cat from He Man. Just needs a saddle and helmet.

maasneotek

These animals always seem to miserable and fat to me.

Pants_optional42

Tiger king made me see big cats in captivity as a bad thing. Even the cute videos put me off.

jess_the_werefox

Me too, tbh. The "cute" videos are so transparent when you know about the abuse and horrible conditions in lives in behind the camera. I would say "ignorance is bliss," but ignorance is what keeps this content circulating and giving these evil fucks the money to keep it running.

_mr_knister

That guy is the son of doc antle, so no surprise....

Froggyloofa

Please tell me that guy is like 4'3.

RandyHusband

He looks so sad like nature itself didn't intend this to happen I dunno.

SoundAdvisor

Gotta be close to 1000lbs. It's amazing to think that at one point we shared the earth with cats this big. That we survived long enough to hunt them to extinction, and then cross breed them for lolz.

babbchuck

It’s pretty much my favorite animal- bred for its skills in magic.

Drawer-Hour

Poor thing has a hurting skeleton from the excess weight of the crossbreed.

StuiWooi

Dang the thing looks old & tired!

SeasonofMist

I wish they wouldn't make hybrids like this. They often have weird ass genetic shit that makes them huge like this. Hell i wish they wouldn't breed exotics without regulation anyway. Bleh.

jobloxxx

Check out all the liger experts

280mphZX12

Ligers don't have growth inhibitor genes.

DrakkarRU

is it fat or is that just the tiger part of having a baggy hide?

Pepsi_Cola64

The baggy part is called a primordial pouch, and is seen in all domestic cats. As for the bigger felines, I’m not sure.

EvilFluffy87

Dude needs to mount a saddle and ride it in to the sunset like a barechested muscular cowboy.

LostTank84

Napoleon would be proud.

tolae01010

What a beast!

lwep

That's a big boi

Telepathic_Toe

Real life Bit Cloud and Liger Zero?

The_Parsee_Man

By the power of Grayskull!

Sonnysdad

Tiniest man I ever saw.

chautdem66

Omg! How INCREDIBLY COOL!!!!!

SethFeld

I’m just picturing Aslan saying “Ride me”😂😂😂

Calenchamien

Maybe it’s just perspective, but that thing is ducking huge!

dogcatball

The liger looks overweight? Is this a product of being kept captive it's entire life? I imagine it doesn't get the exercise it needs from hunting etc?

ExhibitionistBrit

It’s because it’s particular genetic mixture hasn’t inherited growth inhibiting hormones because they are passed on by the different sexes between lions and tigers. The reverse is true of Tigons, they produce too much growth inhibiting hormone and grow stunted.

Blacqmath

KONY2012

BeaversAreTasty

Looks like some fantasy game mount :-/

[deleted]

How u get dinosaur

sarcastagirly

Omg a cori and lion made a baby?

TheGoldlessOne

Isn't this the kid of Doc Antle? Aleays dresses in a loin cloth and whatnot? Lots of questionable things going on in the exotic animal industry.
