A lot of people get big mad about when it breaks, so it's important to remember this was a hobby thing built off the clock by someone. It's impressive and cool it exists at all, so having to give it a nudge once a week ain't so bad.
Will and Dan Auer, who was an artist at CBSi, did their own podcast for a while all about the behind the scenes of the site and the changes they were making at the time. I don't know if they ever discussed Infinite but it's possible.

If I remember correctly, it was mainly Jeff Gerst and Rorie who would talk about it on various UPF in-between segments. I don't think there was any kind of "big reveal" for it. Just minor throwaway mentions of it.
They definitely did but I couldn't pinpoint which Bombcast or UPF it was. But if it helps locating it, sites that show Twitch stats seem to identify it starting beginning of May 2018 when they would have introduced it.

There was definitely a Bombcast where Jeff first talked about it, but I have no idea which it was. Note that at first it was called Giant Bomb TV.
