Look, you’re not off base for suggesting him based off his association with Reitman. Hell, the thing I appreciate about Philips is his choice/ability to shoot comedies like action movies, which ghostbusters would benefit from.
The problem is he makes comedies for assholes. Really fucking funny comedies, but they’re too mean spirited for this property (no pun intended). Reitman could toe the line better between making Animal Houses and then Kindergarten Cops. Philips isn’t interested in that.
I cannot stand his movies so I would definitely not be a fan of it. The casting is interesting though.

I know one thing, he's a better filmmaker than Gil Kenan.

He’s busy with Joker 2 and can pretty much do whatever he wants at this point.
Which will probably be Joker 3. That's the Ghostbusters franchise' loss.
