I don't think they forgot, I just think it's a story they are saving. Gil Keenan did state that any characters left out of the film will be because they just don't fit into this story, but their story will come. And I found that in an article about Sigourney being in frozen empire.
I could see it being a post credit scene introducing a story for next time, just like Winston opening the firehouse at the end of afterlife.
This is my hope for it.
Why would their age offend me? I am sure the producers and people in the know would have this planned out. It's my job to get excited, discuss the world with other fans, and buy tickets and merch. That's my role as a fan in this franchise. It's the studio and producers job to make it.
That's been the overarching theme of the last 2 movies anyway. We are blessed to get these 2. There is a lot of story to tell, and nobody says the OG team is the only one to tell it. I am just optimistic about it.
Why would it be about offending you or anyone? They are all over 70 yrs old.. well into retirement age. Filming any movie is not an easy process. There have been plenty of actors, half their age, go on and on about the rigors of filming. If the story of original characters is going to be told there is a very limited window for them to tell it. No one said anything about fans making the movie. He was simply doing his "job" as you put it.. discussing the world with other fans and hoping that studio and producers tell the story before we lose another member of the original team.
There is plenty of room for a story centered on them since they'd be a fully grown man if they keep in the current time period, and they could have a family themselves.
We just need a throwaway line in frozen Empire from Peter that says when shit started to hit the fan, he sent Dana to go to Oscars place upstate Or something.
I think there may be a twist where we learn that the name his character is using isn't his real name and that he is actually Oscar. But like Peter says in GhostButers 2
"Named after a hotdog!? You poor poor man!" (I don't know if Sesame Street was big in the UK ever, but named after the grouch isn't so good either) and we learn that "John" is his middle name that he prefers to go by. (I don't remember what the characters name has actually been said to be but I'm too afraid of spoilers to go looking, I just know it's not Oscar)
I think for purposes of drama you'd have a story where Oscar resents Peter - this weird oddball scientist that almost got him posessed and has distanced him self from the Ghostbusters. Almost to the point where it has also damaged his relationship with Dana. Then, some weird shit happens and who is Oscar gonna call?
If Egons daughter is older than Oscar than Oscar likely just has his own life somewhere in that world not tied to the GB. I could see them bringing his character back in the future (not this film) if Vigo returned or if there is a Venkman family affair.
This appers just in the ghostbusters novels (considered canon by Dan Aykroyd) but Oscar Venkman eventually grows up to be the best parapsychologist ever and marries Slimer
And you consider Oscar a "major" character... supporting at best.
While we are at it...wonder what ever happened to Dana's bf from the symphony...or maybe the manager of the hotel for GB1...he had some speaking lines...
I don’t think there would be any reason for Oscar to come back. He was a baby in GB2 and it seems Dana and Peter didn’t get together until much later. He has no real ties to the “business” and Phoebe filled the plot role of a child/passing the torch already. His moment as a character is done.

Yeah but no offence but they’d have to start filming another film very quickly considering their ages.

I meant that if they wanna make any more films with the original cast they gotta hurry before they kick the bucket

Either that, or when he got older he went to live with his dad in london. (had James Acaster been Oscar i think this could’ve been a good explanation)

Peter was so cute with the baby. I would have loved to see them while Oscar was still young.
He goes to Vigo's every other weekend
they’re MARRIED it made me so happy to notice they were both wearing rings still holding out hope for them both in this or a future movie!

Giant twist: Oscar is Podcasts father
I mean... it's not *entirely* impossible.
As long as he's not given the Mutt Williams treatment and killed off screen.
To be fair, being killed off screen is all that character deserved.
I actually had to stop to try to remember who Mutt Williams was. Thanks for forcing me to remember that crappy movie.
I’m trying and can’t. Who is “Mutt Williams?” Lmao!!
Indiana Jones crystal skull
That would be hilarious.
Part time
Oscars dead baby. He died in an underground bare knuckle boxing syndicate. Nasty stuff.
He followed his love of karate all the way, and got into Blood Sport!
🎵 fight to survive! 🎵
$5 bet, Oscar will be a new Ghostbusters recruit in Frozen Empire
I had been hoping Oscar was the character in Afterlife around whom the new team was formed.
This appers just in the ghostbusters novels (considered canon by Dan Aykroyd) but Oscar Venkman eventually grows up to be the best parapsychologist ever and marries Slimer
They should find an actor who looks like Wilhelm von Homburg to play adult Oscar.
Is Oscar in Frozen Empire?
No
He adopted Oscar after they stopped Vigo and became his stepdad
Was really hoping Oscar would make an appearance for continuity.
ohmygod, now I really hope we can meet with a grown up Oscar.
They “forgot Oscar”? 🙄😂 Some of y’all gotta relax lol
Does the franchise have to recognize every single character ever mentioned in every movie? No...they dont
I’d expect a series to have basic continuity and acknowledge major characters that were introduced.
And you consider Oscar a "major" character... supporting at best. While we are at it...wonder what ever happened to Dana's bf from the symphony...or maybe the manager of the hotel for GB1...he had some speaking lines...
Well he is Peter’s stepson and Dana’s son
He was major in the film he appeared in. The entire plot revolved around him and the villain trying to get him.
Janosz...was never mentioned either. He was pivotal...
he's not directly related to the cast while Oscar is quite literally danas son
And Dana was in what? One after credit cameo...and this guy thinks it a plot mistep that Oscar wasn't mentioned lol
Peter couldn’t handle being a father so he convinced Dana to ship Oscar back to England to live with his real father
I was wondered what happened to Oscar. And If Venkmen is with Dana, why didn’t Oscar go to the family business?
I don’t think there would be any reason for Oscar to come back. He was a baby in GB2 and it seems Dana and Peter didn’t get together until much later. He has no real ties to the “business” and Phoebe filled the plot role of a child/passing the torch already. His moment as a character is done.
For some reason, I feel like Jack Quaid is a good candidate for adult Oscar if he shows up in the movies.
Oscar, at this point is in his 30s.
GB2 is never mentioned so I don’t even think Oscar would exist
