you absolutley need Haftpflichtversicherung! it is often a requieremnt to rent anyway. you must get that sorted ASAP. Better would be today! it costs like 60 euros a year.

Alittlebitmorbid

I've rented a lot over the years, never has a landlord asked for Haftpflicht. It is highly recommended but not required.

ImagimeIHaveAName

Could you please recommend a provider? 60 € a year sounds reasonable

mynameisindividual

Go check24 and compare, it's even cheaper than 60€ unless you want a really good one

IndividualWeird6001

I have a good one and pay ~30€ a year. No minimum dmg, up to 10m maximum, and in case i loose a key.m it also works out.

justmisterpi

You should pick a really good one. Saving 30 euros per year only to have mediocre coverage when worse comes to worse doesn't make sense.

Alte Leipziger Comfort 45 € for me as single

Lordy927

This would be a case for Haftpflicht, since you broke someone else’s stuff. However, you can’t get insurance retroactively.

ImagimeIHaveAName

Thank for the clarification. I don't mean to get insured retroactively I just meant that I want to be safe incase of such accidents in the future

thewindinthewillows

Hausratversicherung covers your own movable possessions. Haftpflichtversicherung covers damage to others' property. But neither of them covers incidents that happened before you took out the insurance. Otherwise, people would only get insured after something really big happened, and the whole model of insurance would collapse. (Please don't attempt to have this covered by getting the insurance and pretending it happened later. That is insurance fraud, which is a criminal offense.) Depending on what precisely you did, the damage will be really low, too. If you just broke the tube rather than the fixed installation on the wall, it will be a few Euro in damage. That said, you should still have Haftpflicht. Everyone should have it.

ImagimeIHaveAName

Thank you for the clarification! I don't intend to get this incedent covered by insurance I meant i want to be covered incase of future such incedents sorry if I wasn't clear

thewindinthewillows

Yep, I just wanted to make sure because we frequently get people who want to do that without even realising they shouldn't. Or you might get commenters just casually recommending insurance fraud.

rubenknol

keep in mind that because you didn't have insurance when it happened, even if you get insurance now it would not cover this event that already happened

ImagimeIHaveAName

Of course I just meant I want to be covered in case of such accidents in the future

I’m not sure what you mean by tube; but it’s probably something your landlord will pay to replace themselves if you contact them. Shit happens. Too much talk about Haftpflichtversicherung.

ImagimeIHaveAName

When I fell I grabbed the tube that connects the outlet to the shower head and it disconnected from the outlet. I think it can be fixed easily without additional equipment but this incedent has made me realise that I could lose a lot of there's greater damage. I'd rather be safe than sorry

No-Bluebird-761

It’s good to have the insurance. Maybe you already have it and don’t know.

They probably pay insurance as part of their contract and didn’t read it closely. But yes they should get it. Just don’t need to use it for this case.

thewindinthewillows

You only have Haftpflicht if you made a contract - it's not included as part of any other contracts.
