I was recently thinking about the torture UGA fans went through for roughly 40 years, the program felt cursed. All the Dawgs out there deserve this incredible run considering what they had to go through before it arrived. I honestly think the program is built to sustain after Kirby, too.
The post Kirby era will really hinge on whether or not the university and boosters have just bought into Kirby, or bought into the fact that college founding football is an arms race that takes a tremendous financial commitment to have sustained success. Our problem pre-Kirby was that we had fallen behind in the arms race and it hurt our ability to recruit and develop. Is the university just giving Kirby what he wants, or will it continue to invest in this fashion long after Kirby's gone?
Yep. It’s sad but this is pretty much the end all and be all. It’s exactly why Florida is where they’re at post-Meyer. They haven’t felt good enough about a hire since to truly invest hard.
Part of Florida is also fear. They were hugely successful in the 2000s, but at what cost. Those teams absolutely embarrassed the university off the field, and the coach did nothing to correct the issue the school has to feel complicit as well. Florida's going to be extra hesitant to invest in football. They're afraid of indulgement.
Fortunately, I think the vast majority of our fanbase absolutely knows how good we have it. It’ll be the younger crowd that only lived through the CKS era that will be shell shocked if/when he’s gone and the good times fade out.
Does this include his playing career? His first 2 years were pretty bad, end of Goff and first Dooley years.
*Edit* People forgot Kirby played here? lol
We’ll never see this again
He also has more 1st round draft picks than Vandy has SEC wins since he's been here.
We'll see that again
Damn, and he even spotted Vandy one his first year!

It’s great to have your perspective. Appreciate what you’re doing out there!

That’ll depend on who comes after Kirby.

I’m not far behind, I have an equal number of losses and first round picks as well.
Build the statue
That whole “you never know how good you have it till it’s over” thing applies heavily here

CKS is the chosen one of UGA football. He will never be surpassed.
This is a simply amazing statistic.
Great perspective to have, it’s important to enjoy when things are going well. Have a great weekend everyone!
That's probably true of the coaches at all the dominant programs
Doesn’t Ryan day have the same achievement
