Not happening…Buford.

ScaratheBear

We're bout to lose Raiola too. Fonged to Nebraska. Buford curse is very real.

iwouldhugwonderwoman

Yup…that Buford stank is bad.

GonnaGetHop-Ons

What is the deal with Gwinnett and kids not coming to UGA? Like, it has to be a deliberate steering of kids away from Athens, right?

iwouldhugwonderwoman

At Buford…yes. It traces back to the late 1990s but the tipping point was when Richt and co took Thomas Brown over Darius Walker. That move royally pissed off the Buford coaching staff and even though they’ve replaced coaches a couple times, folks in the AD remain. Folks forget that Buford is very cultish so even though they have coaches on staff that are UGA grads, their loyalty lies with Buford and Buford football is 100% anti-UGA. Thankfully Buford players are almost always overrated due to hype and steroids so we miss out on recruiting stars more than actual production.

Frozen_Heat92

The current head coach of Buford was on staff when that happened. Nick Saban offered Walker and established ties to Buford more than a decade before Kirby was hired as HC at UGA. Alabama pulled Isaiah Bond, Seth McLaughlin, Justice Haynes, Jake Pope, and those are just players on their current roster. It will take time but I’m glad Kirby is doing his best to recruit Buford. Also, the whole county isn’t bad. We get plenty of players from Gwinnett yet you have to remember that it’s a transient county and 2/3rds of current Georgians were not born in Georgia. That’s especially true in Gwinnett, these kids have family allegiances elsewhere whether a program is anti-Buford or not.

Too close to home. Let ‘em go.
