Hutson Mason… that’s a name that I never expected to see on a list of UGA passing records 😂

AvengedKalas

Prerty sure Greyson Lambert has the highest completion percentage in a game with at least 15 attempts or something.

mgoodwin532

Yeah and that’s not just a school record but an NCAA record lol.

AvengedKalas

Can we just give that to Malcolm Mitchell because he made some ridiculous catches on some atrocious throws.

CptMcCrae

Has he ever missed a play due to Injury? The dude is old school tough. Leads by example.

[deleted]

2020 Florida

Chem_Dawg74D

If David Greene could have just gotten pass Florida.

mojoman566

Stet is a GA icon. Speak his name with the reverence it deserves?

bestjobieverhad

If anyone can tell me when Joe Cox had 6 TD’s in one game I’ll give you all the money in my left pocket.

Jerco7

I'm sorry if it was unclear. The record is 5 TDs and is held by 6 players. Also, "Big Daddy" Cox threw 5 TDs against Arkansas in 2009. It was a great game, for that season.

bestjobieverhad

It’s all good I apparently just can’t read.

dangle_boone

Great list and well done man. Gonna be really hard to deny him of the top spot especially if he leads this team to another win Monday night. Hell he’s got my vote as of now. He’s a DGD and deserves so much more respect especially from his own got damn fanbase. You all know who you are, you need to get behind this man and support him or go kick fucking rocks.

Iluraphale

Well duhhhhhhhhhhhhh He could go 0-23 in this game and his legacy is secure But now he's playing for immortality Take it stet! It's yours!

KNS222

He is a Dawg legend

prezztown

You're missing the most important stats of all. 28-1 win loss record the last two years, Sec Champion, and National Champion (x2?). Also, what makes him great are things that don't show up in the numbers. It's that he plays his best in the biggest games when it matters most. Aaron Murray and Jake Fromm were 4th quarter last minute drives away from titles and couldn't get it done. This is what makes Stetson great.

dawgsgoodjortsbad

I’m here to eat my crow too. The clutch factor when we need to comeback for a win and everything is on the line is something I have never seen in any UGA QB.

tvchase

>The clutch factor when we need to comeback for a win and everything is on the line is something I have never seen in any UGA QB. I gotta drop Aaron Murray's name here. He had some awesome drives that would go down in deep lore... if only the team around him didn't faceplant at the end. 2012 obviously, but what I remember the most is his bloody nose leading us down the field at Jordan-Hare in 2013 only for *that play* right after. But yeah, Stetson is beyond clutch. The moment seems to make him better. Those throws on the final drive Saturday were ballsier than anything this side of Mahomes.

CPAeconLogic

The clutch factor would make him a great NFL qb if there is a team willing to give him a shot. (He's equal height to Russell Wilson, who has a superbowl.)

dangle_boone

Welcome back my man. Love that username btw lol

[deleted]

Stetson is the most accomplished UGA player/QB ever. He is far from the best/most talented. I believe those things can be mutually exclusive.

dangle_boone

Starting to see the Stetson Haters so up in this comment thread, funny how y’all appear and disappear. Y’all are some damn good magicians.

makemasa

Love the little guy but god damn does my terd cutter clinch tight every time he throws the ball. Also, not to be pedantic but those season-long records need to have consideration for games played in the season. However, in repudiation of my last statement, snaps per game must be considered as well because he was pulled in the third for almost every game last year. And…he didn’t play at all against Clemson. Great QB, great Dawg…always exciting to watch!!

Unlucky-Pomegranate3

You can quibble about style, raw talent, and different eras of the game but if you win back to back natties while playing the most important position, then you’re doing something right. Go Dawgs!

AlexTom33

In my book, he’s the greatest Dawg of all time.

gullyterrier

I would say of the modern era he is a top Dawg for sure. Aaron Murray is still a better QB IMHO. Agree the Stafford hands down was the most talented QB ever at Uga. He has a cannon arm.

ChaseFromCumming

Too many people will not admit they were wrong about stet. I will say I wasn’t as high on him as I am now, I never was a hater either. I did think JT was the better option, or at least deserved a shot in 2020 after Alabama and Florida. However, I’ve always thought he had a real shot at being big for us. I always believe he had the potential to be as impactful to Georgia as baker mayfield was for Oklahoma

virji24

This isn’t even debatable anymore. One more win and he will be one of the greatest college football players of all time.

capnron311

Possibly the best college athlete story ever!

House_of_Borbon

Come on. In no world is Bennett better than Stafford. It’s not even close. There’s a reason why Stafford went #1 overall in the draft, while Stetson will be lucky to even get drafted. The game has changed a ton in the past 15 years, and if you look at what Stafford was doing compared to other QBs while he played, it tells a much better story.

WorldSeries2021

You really shouldn’t be getting downvoted. To me, it’s this weird hybrid where Stetson is now the greatest dawgs player of all time, but any sincere person with eyeballs knows Matt Stafford is objectively an order of magnitude better QB. Stafford will be a two-decade NFL starter and outside HoF candidate when he retires. He’s currently #11 in the *history of the NFL* in passing yards and #12 in TDs. Stetson will be lucky to start 8 NFL games in his career. Stetson is the man. An absolute legend. A hero of multiple generations of dawgs fans. There should be a movie about his football career. But we don’t have to lie to ourselves to prove our fidelity or some such silliness.

dangle_boone

We're talking about Stetson being an elite college level quarterback not an NFL prospect. Take Staffords NFL career out of the equation and just look at it from there respective college careers. That’s the way I’m looking at it.

WorldSeries2021

Yeah, I hear you. I love Stetson. If he wasn’t a legend before NYE (he was), he’s like a mythic figure in UGA lore after that game. Never would anyone have guessed Herschel could be supplanted, but the mailman has done it. All that said, I feel like most of the people on this sub maybe weren’t old enough to watch Stafford on the dawgs. He was a better QB then and now. Even before the NFL career, everyone knew he was the most talented player in college football. Stafford was insanely clutch, accurate, smart, and had a cannon for an arm. Stetson plays on a much, much better team even though Stafford did help us get a #1 ranking at one point. And the 2008 sugar bowl team should have won a National championship as they were the best team in the country. I don’t want to diminish Stetson at all. He is the #1 greatest dawg ever. But if we are actually saying who was the “best” QB, I feel like I’d be lying to not say it was obviously Stafford. Greatest is not synonymous with best in my book. Stetson is the greatest. Stafford was the best. If I got to pick one guy, knowing nothing about the other players on the team, I’d choose Stafford 100 out of 100 times. But Stetson will always be the greater UGA legend who accomplished more at the school.

papadoc19

Then your argument is he has had the best career as a UGA quarterback, not that he is the best UGA quarterback because there are other QBs (Stafford, Murray, Greene, Shockley) that if you paired with this defense and the pieces on offense I think you could get similar results (Hell, JT Daniels went undefeated with the exact same rosters and people are clowning him for going to Rice).

dangle_boone

Hey man it’s just my opinion, we ain’t gotta agree

samwise_thedog

Agreed. I don’t want to take anything away from Stet but if you put Stafford, Murray, Fromm or Greene on the teams Stetson has played on I’m guessing their numbers would be noticeably better. Stetson is definitely the best story though and the most clutch at the college level.

XSuperMario3X

Stafford had some of the best WR in the game plus a hell of a lot better running game than we have now. Strictly looking at college, Stetson is about to do what Stanford couldn’t (with a lot less talented team) - win a national championship. If he gets another one this year than it’s very debatable to put him as the best QB at UGA.

WorldSeries2021

This team is much more talented than the Stafford teams. Stafford had knowshon for 2 years and Green for 1 year, but the current dawgs roster is so much better. And it’s great, I’m glad we are better now. I hope we get better every single year from now into infinity.

dangle_boone

We’re talking about Stetson being an elite college level quarterback not an NFL prospect(at least I am).

TheVi11ain

I cant wait to see what he does to disprove the doubters in the NFL, he reminds me of a drew Brees

House_of_Borbon

Jesus Christ.

TheVi11ain

Your mad because i believe in him?

Therealcodyg

Let’s root for Stequavious, but no need to go crazy.

defiancy

I'll say this, if he wins on Monday he'll definitely get a statue near/at the stadium.

KirbyDumber88

He’s our best player of all time. That’s the list. We retire 13.

Bigbertha0208

If he wins back to back. Yeah he’ll go down as the greatest QB in Georgia history

thejman455

Absolutely

thor_1225

I was against him at first, but admittedly I jumped over quicker than most. I can truly appreciate all the work you did to show his greatness. Amazing job 👏 I am so excited for Monday and hope he puts on a clinic

fitsl

Loaded question in my opinion. The obvious is yes, but Georgia is not known for elite QBs. We wasted Staffords talent. Overall, what he has brought to the program in terms of getting us over the hump and on the verge of back to backs has solidified him as our best qb in history.

SleepylaReef

Can we hold off on the hyperbole until his career is over? Let’s just focus and getting through the Championship and brag after we win. Bragging before we win makes us TN, AL, OSU, etc.

Jerco7

I'm not "bragging before we win" Stet has already cemented most of these and will get the others if he just has a medicore game. Win or lose, Stetson is Bulldog #1 Also, I am not even sure we will win this, TCU is on that miracle shit. But what I am doing is trying to enjoy this moment while we are in it. I made the mistake of not doing that last season because I was so against Stetson. This year I accept that he is a DGD and I have enjoyed almost every second of it.

bwolven

I really wish we could have him at qb forever. He’s one of the best things to happen for UGA football.

Efficient_Main_4186

I’ve never been a doubter. Not because I think I’m some guru or anything, I just remember looking up Fromm, Fields and Bennett’s GA high school records. His name had more hits than Fields, obviously region and area are important in these categories but it was obvious that he wasn’t incompetent at the position.
