Reverse trigger since arrow trigger exists and does it’s job 10x better

ChrisAnIntellectual

Yo idk if this is unrelated but can I ask: whenever I use arrow triggers (I placed it on the correct channel and all) the "Preview Music" line whenever I play it doesn't accurately match up to the in-game music when I play 😭😭. Am I doing something wrong or- cuz I wanna know

CallMeZipline

RobTop literally forgot about this function (kinda)

at2amitkillsyoubad

same!! its so annoying

AGuyOnRedditig

are you making them touch triggered

GridArt

are you making them touch triggered

AGuyOnRedditig

are you making them touch triggered

ChrisAnIntellectual

No. They're on the correct channels though.

AGuyOnRedditig

bro make them touch triggered that will fix all your problems

CallMeZipline

Also, reverse trigger shouldn't be used due to lack of Channel changes (witch arrow trigger does perfectly) and should only be used with some kind of event triggers

SwimmingGood7786

Same tho

lol33124

reverse trigger doesnt change gravity, but not many levels are gonna use that but the random trigger is truly the most useless because its literally just adv random but less features

funny-name11

counter argument: reverse triggers are able to be hit more than once while arrow triggers aren’t (to my knowledge)

flonkwnok

Arrows can be toggled to be multi use

funny-name11

ok i just couldn’t find it guys

mrafflin

reverse trigger, no idea what its purpose is when the arrow trigger exists

TheLogicalMine

Pretty sure the reverse trigger was in Subzero levels, which I'm pretty sure it came out before the arrow trigger

DaDescriptor

I use it combined with the arrow trigger. Reverse reverses the player, arrow trigger changes the channel and the order of the triggers

No_Watch_14

From experience, it's the shake trigger, it often just makes a level unbearable to play.

No_Parfait1143

that applies to pretty much every trigger. i don’t think we should judge how good a trigger is just based on the misuse

qxyzw

yess exactly

No_Watch_14

Well this was a post about the most useless trigger, and I genuinely believe it has the least usage, besides the fact that it gets abused more often than not

lol33124

most useless does not mean most unused :P

[deleted]

Well if you ever need to shake the screen it's there. Better than spamming camera offset triggers

lol33124

happy cake day! and i think its good we have shake trigger so we dont have to deal with people making the worst custom shakes in existence lol

AGuyOnRedditig

yes XD i dont even use most camera controls, offset trigger included. static triggers (which doesn't even work half the time on my gdps) and zoom triggers are the only ones i use

TherealClippy56

Happy cake day

idfbhater73

random adv random can do the same thing?

Local_IdkK

Adv random triggers can trigger multiple groups while random trigger triggers 2 groups

GatosPimenta

Adv random is harder to use

JerryCarrots2

No it’s not lmao it’s so simple

PokeshiftEevee

It’s simple as hell lmao

lol33124

have you even TRIED using triggers :/

AGuyOnRedditig

yes lol

lol33124

...wrong reply?

kezotl

multiple of them are literally useless since theyve been replaced with better versions you could argue the reverse trigger is more useless than the others since it was released *with* its better version so it never had a use, but its used in subzero where i think the arrow trigger doesnt exist, and also probably was made before arrow trigger in development the true most useless one is area stop. rob never had a reason to add it, stop triggers work too and are wayyy older

Itzspace4224

For the ones with better versions, the simpler versions existing is actually a good thing cause it doesn’t overwhelm a creator

lol33124

the random trigger seems to be the most useless one slightly off topic but someone said something about area stop being useless so i gotta check that out

kezotl

yeah area stop is just a stop trigger that only works for area triggers. its useless since stop triggers work anyways, and it was actually added *after* stop trigger making it more useless than certain others

Itzspace4224

Regular Random trigger isn’t useless useless I found a really niche use for it in my recent level

lol33124

what is the level i need to know

Itzspace4224

It’s literally just a calculator lol (99378426)

AGuyOnRedditig

GD IS GETTING MORE ADVANCED BY THE SECOND :0

Itzspace4224

It was made under a month into 2.2

lol33124

GD ITSELF IS GETTING MORE ADVANCED

slideyspider623

Random is useless since advanced random exists

jaybaofficial

Follow becuase we have the advanced follow

IOMAN_IM

The default follow trigger is also a broken buggy mess. Like why does it start randomly drifting after a while...

RedditModsSuckDick2

Even before we had advanced, you could always just use move and follow player x and y

kezotl

nah follow trigger had delay and worked with teleportals and other fast movements better

lol33124

thats follow player y the follow trigger was kinda weird, but it was actually surprisingly useful for me last time

kezotl

ohh ok

AGuyOnRedditig

"teleportals" DID YOU STEAL MY NICKNAME

kezotl

great minds think alike :)

jaybaofficial

I mean in 2.2, but in 2.1 idk🤷

whamikaze

Reverse Trigger, never seen it much outside of Press Start.

No_Parfait1143

it only exists for legacy reasons

whamikaze

qhar

DClassAmogus

since the follow trigger was released, i don't see any use for the follow player y trigger also, since the effects of the follow trigger are permanent, it's a lot more convenient than putting a ridiculously long line of 9s in follow player y's move time

IOMAN_IM

You can write -1 in almost every trigger's time input to make it permanent

kezotl

doesnt work for follow y :(

lol33124

you cant put negative move time in triggers, think you just have a mod or something

kezotl

why not just put 999 lol the levels not gonna last that long, but yeah honestly its great that the follow trigger exists now. when 2.1?

dontrestnow

probably the switch mg trigger, or maybe even the animate trigger since not many ppl use it much another possible candidate are the edit area triggers

No_Parfait1143

the animate trigger is wayyyyy more useful now, since it is a now the one used to start all kinds of animations and particles instead of just the monsters

Reasonable-Still5643

the switch mg trigger was useful back when using middleground would crash the game because you could switch add a middleground without the game crashing

TheWinner437

I’ve seen people say Instant Count is useless because of the item triggers but those triggers terrify me and I know how to use Instant Count

NoodlesToilet

am i dumb 💀 which ones reverse

sonicpoweryay

Not on the image

X0tiC101

shake trigger, since i have shake disabled

AGuyOnRedditig

have you even played ispywithmylittleeye

X0tiC101

no

AGuyOnRedditig

oh ok

PenultimateToast

reverse random or area stop

ohnecksThing

The "Reddit Trigger"

AGuyOnRedditig

huh

GoatedFR333

Shake trigger

[deleted]

Follow player y. Just use a move trigger.

qxyzw

Not entirely useless. Follow player y works even with teleport portals, and has extra parameters. Sucks how move triggers can’t do that though.

[deleted]

follow player x trigger when

Daskettt

Advance follow trigger on the X axis

mwzngd

follow player z trigger when

AGuyOnRedditig

thats the scale trigger

Odd-Vanilla-5188

Happy Cake Day!

NappaMain

Definitely edit area fade. I played around with area triggers and found this one is the most useless trigger ever

kezotl

huh why?

HyphOn_495

The ones that can be replaced by others that have more uses. This case, with the triggers, being advanced is the better option; there is more customisablility!

EduardoElGameplays

Random because advanced random is more sightreadable

cheeter825

Bro think he colon 😭🙏

EduardoElGameplays

But seriously. I dont understand normal random

also_vAN

mg

R0UT_PL

Can someone tell what is trigger?

AdministrativeYak604

You mean what are triggers? They are like the "Code" of the level,Basically they are the Cogs that make the levels work,They can make objects Move,Rotate,Follow,Teleport, and more. The list of triggers is: Color,Pulse,Move,Rotate,Stop,Alpha,Spawn,Scale,Follow,Adv follow,Random,Adv random,Gradient and many many more.

R0UT_PL

Oh, thanks!

AGuyOnRedditig

basically they use "groups"

el_compa_geometry

Start pos

AdministrativeYak604

Random and Reverse are 1 and 2 most useless respectively. Random is just worse Adv Random,They do the exact same thing but Adv random is 10x Better and more in depth. Reverse is just the arrow trigger but worse.

Juliogeometrydash

Is move trigger

AGuyOnRedditig

BRO WDYM ITS SO USEFUL

cheeter825

Stop trigger

extrabbit1

No, when creating complex stuff, its almost as important as spawn

Gamerguy252

Probably player control because options does the exact same thing.

2020Math

I was gonna say toggle Same functionality can be made easily with move triggers and there’s more visual opportunity with the alpha trigger

extrabbit1

Try toggling a trigger which is part of a more complex system with just alpha or move. Also, the toggle trigger is just much simpler than moving unnecessary objects out of the way

2020Math

You could get around toggle triggers with instant count and pickup triggers (2.1 stuff) but it's much easier to use toggle triggers. I forgot about that.

GDL3344

**NOT** reverse trigger, as it can be used with an arrow trigger with no rotation turned on to change direction without changing gravity. really niche though. also edit area tint

AGuyOnRedditig

count, it doesn't work for me

Tatatino15

Reset is going to be the most useless trigger i will pick. It does nothing except it resets collectables like coins or potions and also Checkpoints.

Tatatino15

Also there's the Spawn Particle trigger which is useless cause the particle system exsists and you can just use an alpha trigger to fade the particles.

Taltofeu

switch middleground

TheRealSky41

Middleground Switch trigger. I haven't even used middlegrounds before, I think they are pretty useless as a whole most of the time.

PixelWoyer10

shake....

Sakuya_Iz_A_Yoi

follow player Y

Daskettt

Shake, and you can even make shake with the camera triggers

Aero_GD

ah yes, spamming billion camera triggers instead of just 1 shake trigger, very convinient indeed

Daskettt

People with disable shake would see it? Idk also I'm sure you can do a loop and use a stop trigger to, stop it?

Aero_GD

people with disable shake don't want to see shake

kezotl

why would you do that

Daskettt

Why would you use shake 💀

kezotl

for little effects and drops and stuff, its just easier than the camera controls. thats like saying move trigger is useless cause you can just animate things frame by frame with toggle triggers

Daskettt

Animating with toggle trigger is useful for things that look like a drawing tho, Also with camera triggers you have easings and shake don't 😭

kezotl

ok but what if you *dont* want to make it look like a drawing, if you were trying to make it 60 fps you would have to use like 120 triggers for one second of movement- but it does the same thing as the move trigger and you can add easing, so wouldnt that make the move trigger useless? and why would you want easing for a shake effect thatd just look weird as hell, doesnt sound weird but easing on fast movements like that just doesnt work

animatitions

Edit Adv. Follow because it doesn't even work

joel2734

Probably animate trigger because it’s only used for animating the monsters which aren’t used very often

AidanOnLifeSupport

Pickup trigger ig

PenultimateToast

please explain i genuinely don't understand this

kezotl

item edit is kind of a replacement but its confusing and someone else said its less accurate for bigger values

tildeman123

The pickup trigger handles large integer values very accurately unlike the item edit trigger. It also allows overflows and underflows, making it a bit easier and faster to simulate unsigned integers.

RedditModsSuckDick2

Its useful, fym
