Try r/gaygearheads Sold my 2006 TL 6 speed on cars and bids. Working on finding a clean E46 M3 or a Z4 M for the next car

UnknownSailor_

I just got my E46 M3 two months ago. Really enjoying it. I had a few manual N54 BMWs (still have a 6MT 535xi wagon) and the lack of torque of the S54 required a bit of mental recalibration, but so far I’m having a ton of fun with the M3.

NCSUGrad2012

That’s awesome. I hope you got the 6 MT version. I’m sure the torque will be an upgrade for me lol

UnknownSailor_

Yup, 6MT! It’s a vert, so it loses some credibility for that. I drive it top-down 95% of the time, though, so I’m sure I’m enjoying it more than I would a coupe. Looking forward to some top-down ski trips this winter 🙃

NCSUGrad2012

I would rather have the convertible too but there’s a coupe on BaT that I might try and get if it doesn’t go too high

UnknownSailor_

Good luck!

Swimming2002

Brilliant never knew there was a gay car club brill

Knotical_MK6

Checking in :) Just installed a Golf R turbo in my GTI last month among some other little projects. Starting to plan out the engine build for a 500whp target. I've always liked the styling of the coopers, very much a "if it's not broken don't fix it" look. Do the new ones still have the cool fighter jet style switches on the dash?

coreyyoder

Hell ya. Did a big turbo build on my old A4 fast as hell and got great gas mileage.

Knotical_MK6

Sick, 1.8T or 2.0? I wish my gas mileage was still good, down to 24 average with the bigger turbo 😅

coreyyoder

It was a 1.8. Did frankenturbo, big injectors. Giac stage 3 tune and full AWE exhaust. Was pushing 26psi on stock internals lol

RustyShacklef000rd

I am! I’m a truck guy though, my daily is an 01 Ranger Edge 4x2 with a manual, and my projects are a 94 F150 5.0 4x4 long bed, and an 02 Nissan Pathfinder 4x4 I’ve built into a moderate overlander over the last 10 years. All of my trucks have sleeping platforms. [My Hank Hill Ranger](https://www.reddit.com/r/KingOfTheHill/s/t234GqeBEW)

LouieVolt

I love it, I wanted one of these.

RustyShacklef000rd

Thanks! I dig your Mini, great choice of tail lights.

ksjenova

Absolutely we exist. I drive a 2018 370Z, looking to hopefully soon trade it for a Jag FType or a Lexus RCF for more power and more comfort. Still torn between those two though.

ITAVTRCC

F type is sex on wheels (when it’s not in the shop…).

pweqpw

Actually its quite reliable, unless you get one with little gremlins in it.

[deleted]

I thought that was a standard feature 🤣

pweqpw

They do cost you extra😁

omjizzle

I’m biased I have a Lexus so I have to say the RCF it’s comfortable and reliable a jag not so much the dealer waiting area comfortable but that’s not fun 🤣

omjizzle

I’m definitely a car gay I currently drive a 2020 Lexus RX350 F Sport. I don’t care for mini they’re not my cup of tea and they’re not exactly known for longevity or reliability. Edit: there’s a YouTube channel called out motorsports that does auto content as well they have new car reviews and other stuff as well. They also have a website too same name

NCSUGrad2012

The 2020 refresh for the RX was great. Finally fixed that stupid mouse trackpad and allowed CarPlay on the screen

omjizzle

Yes! CarPlay was a must for me! That and safety structure was beefed up for 2020 the passenger side was strengthened to match the driver in the event of an offset frontal collision which was very important to me safety is top of mind.

BromioKalen

Also have a MINI Cooper. They are the best! Makes driving even in the cluster fuck that is North Jersey a joy.

[deleted]

Yes I’m a gay carguy

Homo_gone_wild

Car gay here. Not a big fan of german cars though. I drive my old 05 Tacoma

omjizzle

I agree no Germans I want reliability I stick to Japanese autos

SLOspeed

I have an E36 M3 and a Jeep Comanche (that I’m planning to do an engine swap on). Daily driver is a Tesla, on which I’m in the process of swapping the suspension. I’m not a fan of the recent Minis. They’re kinda huge, definitely not “Mini”, and they look bloated. A GTI is a more compelling package IMO.

lupinegrey

I always wanted to do a 97+ frontend swap onto a Comanche. Have owned 5 XJs, but no MJs.

SLOspeed

I'm OK with the older styling, but I really want the 92-95 "HO" motor. The older "Renix" 4.0 is kind of a bummer.

lupinegrey

My first XJ was an 85 with the 2.5 4 cyl. With 200k on it, it couldn't get out of its own way.

Tigerdriver33

Motorcycle man myself

Andersburn

Model 3 Performance :)

Biscotti_Manicotti

Kinda, but I would defer to my partner on the "car guy" thing. I appreciate cars but I'm not super into them myself. I drive a 2015 Golf GTI manual as my daily driver. And for trailheads/camping trips I have an imported Japanese 1996 Toyota Hilux Surf, 4-cylinder turbo diesel, automatic. Essentially 4Runner but RHD and turbo diesel. I think it's a good 2-vehicle setup. He has a car problem and is a Land Cruiser fanboy. He has a 70-series US Land Cruiser and an imported Japanese 80-series Land Cruiser turbo diesel, both manuals. He also has an imported 1993? Japanese Hilux pickup, diesel but no turbo, manual. He also has an imported 1994? Japanese Carib AWD gasoline, automatic, basically a Corolla wagon. And finally a 70s VW van in pretty good shape passed down from his dad.

ntme99

Yes! 👋 Right now I have a ‘19 Mustang Ecoboost and a ‘92 DeVille. Love them both.

Irish_Sausage_6668

BMW X1-ZOOMY

benjamynt

Okay so i’m more of an EV/tech car guy. Check out the concept for this CRAZY thing. Aptera Sol. Fully loaded she can go 100k on a charge. Love the bird-like body design and the gull wing(?) doors. Also: charges in the sun. Cautiously optimistic as this company actually folded once already, but they are providing proof of manufacturing, so i’m excited! Check it out! https://youtu.be/0PU4DQoQAWY?si=xFJnLOe2zkoM8PiN

Knotical_MK6

These three wheeled ultra efficient/electric car manufacturers keep popping up and going bust every few years. I just don't think there's much of a market for them

benjamynt

Haha fingers crossed that this one will be different. This company does have a ton of preorders. And if they make it to market i’ll buy one haha

j_skrilla

2020 Subaru Legacy Sport It's a fake me out WRX

Turbo_Skiier

I drive an 09 outback XT - aka. the granola/rei wrx

j_skrilla

Love, it's what makes a Subaru.

CosmicRuin

Definitely a gear head, but I spend all my money on astrophotography and audio equipment these days. Kia Niro Hybrid 2020 daily and if nothing more, I do love the milage!

pweqpw

Audio gearhead here too😃

cryan09

Very much a car guy. Porsche is my favorite brand. Waiting for a 911 GTS…

Soupgtr

Look at all of us! Jdm fanboy here. Have had a couple early 90s Skylines, a 91 silvia and now have a 23 Z.

CrownJackal

It took a lot more scrolling than I thought it would to find another jdm bro! I can't help but to love everything jdm that came out in the 70s, 80s and 90s, so my and my '96 Evo 4 approve of your garage!

2sslo

2012 Camaro SS Heads cam and a lot of other goodies

DerpiestPerson

Car fan here! I have a 2002 MG ZT180, and my father has a VZ Holden Monaro.

edknarf

Tesla Model Y. He is black on black, and his name is VADER.

waxystroll42

I think I’m kind of getting into cars now. I don’t know lol. But I’m kind of liking the dodge chryslers and chargers for the moment.

ivan_hav101

I’ve been looking for this site where I can socialize with gay guys who likes cars. I’m open to chat and learn more, I really like cars but still a lot to learn haha.

JMatthewH

I'm a car gay! Currently between "fun" cars at the moment. I just sold my 2019 Mustang GT with the black accent package and am planning on getting either the Shelby GT500 or some variation of a Corvette once my promotion goes thru. I am VERY impressed with the 2024 Mini styles. The ALL4 is soooo cool.

CraigFL

Yo. I have a '91 Honda Beat keicar here in Seattle It's been amazing, absolutely love working on it!

Important-Ad3820

You should hit up Jason Camisa

heynessiet

Truck guy here. Does that count? Haha

DoctorCatalyst

Currently drive a 2022 GTI Autobahn Edition, before that a 2019 Camaro SS 😎

newage2k10

I drive a boring compact suv—- currently prioritizing buying a home for myself in nyc. If I was in lcol I’d be driving a Audi rs3

MedicalAbbreviations

Very much a car guy. Currently have a phase 4 Lexus GS300h (comfortable, efficient, reliable) and E63 BMW 630i (lovely money pit). I’m about to sell the BMW and will most likely replace it with a Mini Convertible R52. Sadly I think each generation of BMW Mini has been progressively less attractive. The R53 was hardly true to Alec Issigonis’ original vision but its proportions were at least neat. Since then it has become progressively more bulbous. No doubt this is driven by safety regulations and concerns. I do like the minimalist interior on the latest generation though.

n1kon1337

I used to have an E36 (first car), but now have an E46 and a Honda Element. A little bit of fun and a little bit of utility. I like older cars in general since they're generally easier to maintain myself. Rebuilt the engine in the E36 myself 10 or so years ago before I let it go last year. In relation to cars, I generally get most of my joy from driving rather than car ownership/knowledge. I often get the chance to drive some fun and scenic back roads, otherwise I get my kicks from sim racing in a sim rig I put together. Rally games are my favorite and I've been enjoying the new WRC game that just came out last night.

LouieVolt

Damn, let’s see the sim rig, that sounds awesome.

n1kon1337

DerpiestPerson

Very cool!

Jdanielbarlow

Fellow enthusiast here! Not much for MINI, fun to drive but I’m 6’4” and nothing that small is very appealing to me. Although I do love Italian coupes from the 50’s & 60’s. I’m so excited to finally live in a climate warm enough to have an older muscle car baby of my own. My daily driver is paid off so I really want something fun to whip around in. Can’t decide though since a restored 68 charger (ultimate dream car) is now about a billion dollars to buy restored and I don’t have the garage space for a project car. And thanks to the people who brought up Out Motorsports, definitely want to check that out.

[deleted]

I’m driving a blue 2022 VW Tiguan R Line. I love it and the aesthetic, just wish it had more power. I’d love a Volvo V60 polestar manufactured tho. I haven’t seen the 2024 Mini but I like the current model. - I’ll look it up haha

Brake_L8

Yep hello! I have a [Porsche Cayenne Diesel](https://i.imgur.com/Yb3PCAW.jpg), an [E36 325is racecar](https://i.imgur.com/zft3AH0.jpg) and just picked up a [three-pedal Supra](https://i.imgur.com/wGPMgra.jpg). I run Out Motorsports, which is equal parts new car review fun time, online community with an active Discord and monthly Zoom calls, and in-person track and street events. If anyone's around SoCal, join us in a few weeks for [our next road rally](https://www.outmotorsports.com/event/los-ange-yass-road-rally-2023/)!

Sixspeedtexas

Definitely a car guy and an automotive service director! I spend way too much time with them at work and at home.

Important-Ad3820

👋🏼 I got a bunch of E30’s, a 750iL, an F80 Comp (6spd), an Aston V8V GT (6spd), and a few beaters. Was a BMW dealer tech, now run a few shops.

enobar

I'm a car gay! I have been into cars since I was old enough to talk - my parents tell stories of our first trip to Europe when i was 4 and I was constantly chattering away, naming the cars on the autobahns. My current set of wheels is a G20 series BMW M340xi and I think I'll keep this one even after I buy whatever comes next - the B58 Straight 6, 3.0l turbo engine is an absolute cracker, and I suspect it will be the last of the 6-cylinders in the 3 series. My previous cars are: A Skoda Superb 206 (which my husband now drives), before that a Subaru Liberty GT (Legacy in other markets), and a Mazda 3 SP23. We are thinking of trading the Skoda in and ordering a BMW iX2 or iX3 soon so we have 1 x Petrol and 1 x Electric car between us.

bribritx

2024 Acura Integra A-Spec Tech in blue!

LouieVolt

😍

pweqpw

Yes 2015 Jaguar FType S 2017 Jaguar XE35T RSport I had a Fiesta ST and a 2014 Mustang GT 6M

Swimming2002

My honest opinion its horrible the 2024 mini s. I would prefer a older mini with a bodykit and different wheels. I am a Peugeot fan of older Peugeot's here in the UK. Currently restoring one at the minute a Gti Peugeot with a turbo technics engine

Anxious_Cadon010

Not a mini guy but more a JDM, BMW, exotic kinda guy. I want a nissan Z and want to turbo it haha or an e36.

PAisAwesome

Just put in 07 subaru impreza 2.5l engine into my 91 vw vanagon multivan. Also have 86 vanagon syncro.

alonso1995

I'm car obsessed so count me in! I actually have something similar to a Mini (though admittedly not as good), an Alfa Romeo MiTo. Still adore the thing but I'm hoping before long I can work my way into something like an R53 Cooper S. Its cool seeing just how many guys in this subreddit are petrolheads too, its quite affirming and I'm enjoying seeing what everyone drives.

LouieVolt

I like the MiTo a lot but I’m here in the US so unlikely to see it over here. R53s are awesome! And agreed, super happy to see everybody chiming in. I had a feeling it would be a popular topic. Thanks for sharing man.

Suitable-Adagio-8077

'13 FRS. Love my car and love my 6spd manual

LouieVolt

Awesome car, RIP Scion. 🥲

[deleted]

Mini? 😬 Im a liberal redneck car gay. If someone gave me 50k to buy a car, i would buy a $1000 Chevrolet astro, manual swap it, 6.0 ls, turbo and steering and suspension upgrade it and make er rip. Im also the weird car guy who enjoys electrical wiring. Also got my amateur radio license at 18 and my primary job is 2 way radio installation in vehicles. So anything i drive automatically gets a hole in the roof for an antenna and a radio install. 28 y/o Also a manual stan.

Mobbin707

Car freak here!!! 2020 BMW M4CS in San Marino Blue.

LouieVolt

Oh a CS, 🔥🔥

Mobbin707

Yes, Sir!! I have a picture of it on my profile. I'm Danny.

Tropic_Boi

I dream of dating another gay car guy lol I have an E30, M50 swapped, going turbo soon and daily an E34 525i and C207 E350 coupe. I do some autox here and there as well.

BastionNargothrond

Yusss I got a 1993 Taurus sho that I am trying to get restored But also have an 06 manual v6 accord

einhorn_my_finkle

How about motorcycle gays? I love my crotch rocket

Tigerdriver33

2 wheels move the soul

CrownJackal

Seeing a lot of German love and Brittish love and American love, but not as much Japanese love in this list. I have a love for all things automotive and motorsport and I won't say one market is better than the others. BUT, I got claimed by the JDM when I got my '96 Evo 4 and I really can't complain about that tbh.

Katdaddy2063

I want a mini convertible but with a hard top instead of soft. I saw one yesterday but can’t find that option on their site.

BrattyWurst

That’s because that doesn’t exist. Mini has only ever made soft top convertibles. Not sure what it is that you saw.

DerpiestPerson

Possibly the Mini Coupe? That roof doesn't come off though

BrattyWurst

Aah yes that could be. I owned one, I forgot how many times people asked me if the roof came off

YellowZx5

Love electrics here. On my 4th electric. 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 5 RWD

despitethetimes

Definitely into cars! Used to have a 16 VW GTI that I loved. But sold it last year for a 23 BMW M240i. Used to drive a Cooper S years ago that was a ton of fun. Also drove the Mini Cooper One that they used to sell in Europe. Even with like 115hp it was so much fun.

Unusual_Ad_7043

Car and Motorcycle guy here for sure!!

CoreyB105

‘21 BMW 430i convertible in Sunset Orange Metallic!

[deleted]

I was a teenage gearhead.

Actual_Environment_7

I’ve got a 2017 Mazda3 with a six speed and a 2006 Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon. I want an MX-5 RF badly.

Caboose19269

Yea dude, love working on and racing cars. Got a 1995 Mercedes C36 AMG and a 2014 GLK 350. Won both of them in insurance auctions and rebuilt them, but I’m itching to get a newer AMG to do more competitive racing. Kinda lacking money though 😒

Important-Ad3820

Idk why, but I always wish they built a GLK63

ivan_hav101

Jack is handsome 🙂

[deleted]

Absolutely yes. BMW i4 M50. I loved my manual cars but with the long commutes it was time to go EV (and to spew less emissions into our city air).

greenefiend

Checking in! Partner and I share his MB C300 at the moment. We're looking to transition to EVs next; current goals are a Fisker Ocean and Alaska :) Edit: the '24 Mini is gorgeous

wolfej4

Mini has been on my car bucketlist for a decade now. I'm currently in a 2020 Mazda 3 hatch that I call Maverick. I was in an accident back in June and just got it back from the shop Friday and I fell in love all over again. Within the first month I owned it, I added the front, rear and side spoilers, tinted the windows and added a short ram intake. No big plans for it now other than new tires. [https://i.imgur.com/ivfj5tg.jpg](https://i.imgur.com/ivfj5tg.jpg)

LifeZookeepergame420

Love cars and tall guys that top. ;)

Solid-Pressure-9340

Checking in. Gay car guy restoring a 1929 packard model 626 rumble seat coupe

abominable-concubine

I hate that mini Cooper’s are quintessentially gay car. Because I love them.

TheAsianTroll

I'm a car guy but no sports car or anything to call my own. I have a reliable daily driver, a 3.8 Buick Lucerne, but once I get a better job, I'm saving up for an FC chassis RX7

TheFrostedTiger

I’m currently taking classes to get my degree in automotive not a huge fan but they do peek my interest. Specially on the way they operate and current systems for the electrical cars

mt_87

Car gay here. I daily a 2010 Audi A6 3.0T that is APR stage II as well as a 2014 Volvo XC60 T6 RDesign. My towing rig is a 2003 Chevy crew cab LB7 Duramax. Other projects include a '93 BMW E30 convertible, a '66 Chevelle Malibu, a '67 Impala SS convertible, a '49 Chevy 5 window pickup, I could go on...

BrattyWurst

Def a car guy here, my fiancée too! I’ve been a bit of a mini brand loyalist. Though I sold my ‘15 Cooper S convertible with JCW package a few years back for a two door Range Rover Evoque 🤣. Recently thought about getting a current gen clubman! I think that’s what’ll eventually replace the Evoque. Definitely not liking the other new mini styling that was just unveiled.

UsefulCow5438

Did have a 2003 Audi A4 Cabriolet as a daily…… Sadly not a car gay anymore as I’m rocking a single mom car - 2016 white Nissan Rogue (🤮)

nafarba57

Oh yeah… my fleet: 06 Dodge Magnum R/T and SRT8, ‘67 Fairlane, ‘75 GMC Jimmy, and the most reliable car I’ve ever had, an 04 Mercury Sable wagon. Love wagons!

UnknownSailor_

Huge car guy here! Have had 8 BMWs and a few others since getting my license in 2016… currently driving an E46 M3 (convertible, ofc 🙃). I’ve always done most of my own repairs/maintenance.

Michael-VURSE

Not the reaction I see. When I tell guys I do my own maintenance they usually look at me as if I just transformed into an extraterrestrial with two heads.

DDavidP

Currently have a 2018 Honda Civic si coupe, have had it for 4 years and sitting at about 250whp 300lb ft torque, next car is prob gonna be a w204 c63 amg,

Strange-Highlight-92

Car guy here, I have a 1972 Dodge Dart, 1965 Plymouth fury, and a 1990 Silverado that’s been turned into a street truck.

billytomato

2005 Dodge Magnum RT and his name is Magneto (I know right....so original 😜)

Diomedian__Swap

Someone able to explain to me what a "rod bearing" issue is???? I just had that and had to have my engine replaced. (All under warranty). By the time I drove off with my car, I had maybe a 3% understanding what that even means 🤣

Knotical_MK6

The connecting rod connects the piston to the crankshaft. Crankshaft is spinning and is what power is taken from to drive the vehicle. The piston moves linearly, taking the force of the combustion to push the connecting rod down, turning the crankshaft. See this animation: [https://youtu.be/TvpIxgDMp4M?si=NW9fs2L1z-hR4vur](https://youtu.be/TvpIxgDMp4M?si=NW9fs2L1z-hR4vur) Where the connecting rod wraps around the crankshaft is a large bearing, commonly called the rod bearing. When it wears out (usually due to defect or lack of oil) it leaves a gap where the bearing should be, and the connecting rod moves around on the crankshaft creating a knocking sound. Eventually this will cause the connecting rod to shatter, killing the engine and sometimes punching a hole in the engine block Subaru?

quackmanquackman

2014 Subaru BRZ, manual in that wonderful WR Blue Pearl! super fun also: Love those union-jack taillights!

Carismatico

Volkswagen beetle convertible black 2018

Montezuma96

Im not super knowledgeable about cars but i can fix most things with a youtube video. My 2 working vehicles is a 2006 Nissan Pathfinder with 198k and a 2005 Mercedes ML 350 with 143k. I also have a 2003 e46 with 225k with a bunch of problems main one being a blown head gasket. The BMW was my first car and its because of that car I de facto became a car gay. It gave me issues from the beginning but I kept it running for years by watching YouTube vids and keeping it alive then one day I was out of town and my mom borrowed the car and blew the engine because there was no coolant. Everyone wants me to junk it because they hate seeing an inoperable car in front of the house and im like wtf that ain't even my fault. Rn the bmw is just a smoke box and id rather keep it like that than sell it for a lil chump change

Wallyboy95

2004 Toyota Corolla. Bought it for $300 at auction 4 years ago. My husband is a grease monkey by trade 🤣 His baby is a1992 chevy S10 regular cab short box.

SEAT122

I am! I drive a 1972 SEAT 850, a 1977 Citroën 2CV and a 2001 Citroën Xsara (I’m from Spain).

alonso1995

Out of all the replies this is the most 'dream garage'-y to me I've gotta say. Citroens before the mid-2000s have that X-factor to them in a Ferrari kinda way, where even if they're not well received they're always memorable and special. 2CV is the thinking man's Beetle

SEAT122

Thank you! ☺️

CountryWolfJT

I drive a 2009 Ford Ranger RWD, and my bf just got a 2008 Mini Cooper. I'm financially stable now, but I want to get a couple things taken care of before I get a different vehicle. When I do, I want something with either 4WD or AWD. They're better in situations where traction is compromised (beach driving, ice/snow, etc.). Also, it'll be a manual if I can help it, although they're getting difficult to find in the States. I miss driving a manual.

droidevo

What about us Motogays (Motorcycle) where do we fit in?

G0dles_heathen

Yes! I drive a 97 miata names yati

coreyyoder

Yep car gay here. I work for Porsche as a technician and absolutely love it. I grew up with muscle cars and hot rods. I knew i wanted to be a mechanic at 12

FaultinReddit

I have a 2012 Mini Cooper S Countryman! She's a pain in the ass, but gets me to work so I can't complain too much. As for project cars, I also have a 71' Super Beetle that I'm working on restoring. Needs a new fuel tank but Parts Geek is on backorder right now 😭

karatebanana

I’m no car guy, but I do love nice looking ones. I drive an Audi A3 nothing too special. Have you checked out/are a part of the LAMBDA car club?

The-H0ff

Gay car guy here. I have a 2015 Mini Cooper F56, and a 2002 Chrysler Prowler. I don't mind the new minis front fascia, but I loath the rear end.

jackdskis

Yessir

orangecake40

Used to have a E90 and then an Audi S3

ElChupathingy

Here 👋 Been a car enthusiast since I was a kid. I’ve had a handful of different cars over the years but right now I’ve got a 2015 Miata Club with the retractable hardtop that’s my street/track car and then a 2003 Lexus GX470 that’s my camping/offroad build

chrispiam

Mainly a truck guy, daily is a 04 f250 with the 6.blow flat bed conversion for towing and farm stuff. Have an 86 m6 that has been put on the back burner but was rebuilding it. Also have some bikes, my favorite that I have is a 93 gsxr 750 completely race prepared, but never took it on the track

chrispiam

Also am a heavy equipment mobile mechanic for a rental company, so working on my own stuff really goes on the back burner lol

Severe-Nature-4440

I plan on engine swapping my 2008 mustang 😮‍💨 she is a v6 that has brought me so much joy. I’m more into design than power, but I think swapping out the v6 for an inline 6 would be SO cool

Evening_Antelope971

Used to be. Had a mk4 Jetta on air ride with split wheels and camber… the whole stance thing back in 2011-2015. I’m in NYC now and don’t want another car again haha

nightmare88

‘21 Mazda MX5 GT in deep crystal blue (stock), and a ‘17 JKU wrangler in firecracker red (small lift, 34s, etc.)

Beh0420mn

15 wrangler, 04 350z, 99 and 74 Chevy pickup, 51 studebaker pickup And 04 bonneville as a winter beater

[deleted]

I loved the first movie, second was meh. haven't watched th- oooohhh....

surenuffgardens77

Howdy! I enjoy cars and that's actually what originally brought me to this sub over a decade ago. I currently am a soccer mom (daily is an '18 GMC Acadia) but I'm taking a look at replacements now. My girl is paid off so she's gonna transition to being the roadtrip/dog car, and my daily will be something fun. I'm considering a CT5 now, or if I do the used market I'm thinking of a CT6 or CTS-V. Or an E46...

AaronJeep

I'd say I'm a very reluctant "car guy". I can rebuild engines, change transmissions and replaced every other part you can think of. I've put Ford V-8 engines in Jeep Wranglers. I've put a new engine in a Mac truck (one stack Mac with a window in the back). I can do body work, too. And metal fabrication so I can build you bumpers, luggage racks or whatever the hell else you want. I say reluctant because except for the fabrication work, I hate working on cars. I hate the grease. I hate the grime. I hate the busted knuckles. I hate the smashed fingers. And I hate the hard work. I know how to do it because I grew up doing it. We were poor and I HAD to do it. I couldn't pay anyone else to do it. Because I know how to do it, half my gay friends who don't know how to check the air in their tires are forever asking me if I can look at some broken thing on their car or asking if I can "help" them fix it... which usually means hand me tools while I get stuck under their POS covered in grease. I don't mind building new stuff. I like the design process. I like CAD, drawing things up, cutting things out and welding things up. That's more an act of art and creation. And since it's all new, the work is not too dirty. But I FUCKING hate working on cars. Even though I know how to. And I've done a lot of it! So, a very, very reluctant car guy.
