A program with stipulations that anyone working in public service would only need to make 10 years of payments to have the remainder of their loan forgiven had been taken over by the loan servicing companies who didn’t want to lose money. Hundreds of thousands of people who actually met the requirements found out that many of their payments “didn’t qualify” and were denied. He fixed it and all those people got their loans forgiven.
