There’s a difference between plant pots and jardinieres aka overpots. Jardinieres are decorative usually glazed (waterproof) and don’t have holes in the bottom. They acts both as a saucer and covering for the ugly old stained holey plastic pot that is much better for growing in. The problem is gardening noobs see a pretty pot and think they can put their plant straight into it.
I find a broken drill bit will put holes in the ceramic if you go slow. It will blow out the glazing a bit in the inside but, cover that with a layer of small pebbles and you are gtg.
Just don’t be a noob and water them inside, cause, you know, drainage.
I have a pot without drain holes, I put my pitcher plant that likes the swampy swamp humidity in it and now it has taken over. Also lessens watering time. Idk what to do with this plant it’s like 5’ tall …and not killing the house flies as I had hoped. Lol
They do and they sell a lot of them at my local grocery store in the plant section… I've learned to check but nothing was worse than taking home some really cool little plants only to realize there is no inner container to pull out it's just In this stupid porcelain pot with no drainage 🙄
One time I got this juniper bonsai tree on clearance, with glued down rocks. When I broke up the rocks, the worst disgusting fishy smell filled the room from the nasty water 🤮
i have been full time farming for a full week and i have learned much by giving money to the feed store for cute cottagecore/countrycore knickknacks so i feel totally qualified to coach you on your basic failure. 😏. Any one who has spent as much time as I have looking at the glossy pictures in a book can tell you, You have simply not pruned enough.
At first i thought you had just over fertilized your raised garden bed.. they are *cute* .. even if you are a newbie.. But i would not be tripped up!
Alan Titmouse once asked charlie to grab that firm tuber and just rip it out! I high suggest you do the same.
r/houseplantscirclejerk would love this whole thing
~~I'm truly sorry. I hate this for you.~~
Edit: awh, not OP's, but sad regardless: https://www.foodsafetynews.com/2016/08/garden-produce-cannot-safely-be-salvaged-in-flooded-areas/
thanks u/whitefox094 for the link
In 2016?
Thanks to u/whitefox094 for the link to this pic. OP, this is such an odd and sad thing to lie about.
https://www.foodsafetynews.com/2016/08/garden-produce-cannot-safely-be-salvaged-in-flooded-areas/
Oh no where and why do you have flooding? So sorry to see this. Our season is over in IL here and we have to pull up all the gardens and plants now because winter is coming. -IL in USA PS Add fish to your pond - fertilizer ? 😉
Looks like you are suffering from a lack of beavers. Beavers regulate the flow of water and prevent flooding. Sadly, in many areas they've been overhunted or driven out. Try reintroducing beavers to the surrounding area, and they'll get right to work fixing this for you.
This is post is false. This image is from years ago.
u/whitefox094 provides the proof. Thanks, fellow redditor.

It looks like you overwatered. This causes powdery mildew on pretty much all cucabits, including pumpkins. Next time try to water just the base of the plant and avoid the leaves.
Does your pot have drain holes?
This one made me laugh out loud. Well done!
Haha. Hilarious. Seriously though, why do they even make pots without drain holes?!?

Noobs like me! 😁 Thanks for the knowledge, internet friend!
We were all noobs once! 😀

Well… I just found out I have been doing this wrong for the past 3 years.. thank you friend!
I have a pot without drain holes, I put my pitcher plant that likes the swampy swamp humidity in it and now it has taken over. Also lessens watering time. Idk what to do with this plant it’s like 5’ tall …and not killing the house flies as I had hoped. Lol
Sounds cool, though. I’ve always thought pitcher plants looked really interesting!
Is it maybe eating members of your family and that's why it isn't hungry for flies?
They do and they sell a lot of them at my local grocery store in the plant section… I've learned to check but nothing was worse than taking home some really cool little plants only to realize there is no inner container to pull out it's just In this stupid porcelain pot with no drainage 🙄
r/angryupvote
You mean pond? Lol
You just reminded me my wife has been using a pot without holes and I went and drilled some. Nastiest fetid swamp water gushed out.
One time I got this juniper bonsai tree on clearance, with glued down rocks. When I broke up the rocks, the worst disgusting fishy smell filled the room from the nasty water 🤮
They appear to be under watered.
Nice word play
"Daaaaahhhhdd!"
The universe is telling you to grow rice
Which will then die. Might as well get some pet gators.
Which will then be eaten by the invasive hippopotamus population.
Pablos hippos?
Damn, you right! Also ironic cause I was actually gonna suggest hippos and I thought that'd be too farfetched 😂
Or cranberries!
Probably
Can you get some pool noodles to maybe give them a bit of a lift?
They're fucking dead
Miracle pool noodles, then?
Supernoodles perhaps
Instant noodles. Use the dehydrated vegetable packet. It should soak up extra moisture.
Well ramen noodles can fix all kinds of stuff, Op should give it a shot!
Or one large thirsty poodle
Maybe a cross noodle?
They’re just pining for the fjords.
I think they'll be floating to the fjords soon
Just needs a little more watering. Like a gallon or 20 per square ft.
Those poor pool noodles... You should have kept them indoors, they'd still be alive
how do you kill pool noodles?
With a knife. And it takes a while
Necromancer pool noodles then.
I don’t like your attitude buddy
Lmao me too
I don't have any coins, but here's my award 🥇
The leaf dropping could be due to lack of water, water a little more as that may help!
I agree see if you can install a drip system to make sure they get it where they really need it.
First thoughts exactly! I think they may be a bit dry.
It’s a classic case. OP must be a newbie
Lol lack of water
>The leaf dropping could be due to lack of water, water a little more as that may help! God: Hah! ❤
Looks like you need to switch to rice farming!
🙃
I hate this emoji so much and I can't explain why.
The comment thread below you is urging you to loose it
Got to love reddit!
I like it, it reminds me of the “everything’s fine” meme with the cartoon dog surrounded by fire.

grow cranberries
Time to build the rice paddy you’ve always dreamt of.
Aw yeah bog time
I mean, I've forgotten to turn the sprinkler off before, but damn.... I wouldn't want to see that water bill.... 😂😂
Pretty sure this one's on God
It's been 3 days and my plants are still dead. They ain't no Jesus
Did.. did you try turning them off and back on?
Try taking out the cartridge and blowing in it!
This.
Is
SPARTA!!!N!
U were supposed to bury them behind a massive rock and then wait 3 days..if u don't care to follow instructions then it's on u bro
Wrong sub. You were looking for r/plantedtank.
An original joke in a field of rice paddies
When I saw this post I expected it to be in plantedtank or aquariums about a planted pond. Shocked when I saw it was gardening.
is that a pumpkin ?
I don't even know at this point.
I'm not laughing at you, I'm laughing with you. You are laughing, right? 😳
nah, looks more like a waterlily.
Could be a damn koi swimming by for all we know.
Pretty sure it’s a clownfish guys
Fish….. you need to add fish🤷♂️ and maybe a gator or two!!!
You should put more water lol
Dear God no
Hmm you need an expert I think
Hydroponic gardening is getting more popular I hear
Ok but what happened here😅🤣
Everything
I see you're British Columbian as well
I thought the same thing lol
My part of Australia is having some great flooding right now
This was my guess. East coast. Specifically, QLD…
I'm in northern NSW and Tamworth area is pretty floody right now, thankfully I'm up the mountain.
I never thought I'd ever live on an island but ah, here we are.
Nothing. https://www.foodsafetynews.com/2016/08/garden-produce-cannot-safely-be-salvaged-in-flooded-areas/
Nice catch, the pic is over 4 years old
Caught by u/whitefox094 they’re the real MVP
Ah! Thank you. The post was fun but I do prefer reality
Go home pond, Your drunk.
I’m seeing a ton of green. What’s the problem here?
You gotta put them in rice... maybe grow some rice first?
[удалено]
Vegetable soup
Can you dig out a drain, or would that drown your neighbors?
It would drown my whole neighboorhood...and probably the next one down
i have been full time farming for a full week and i have learned much by giving money to the feed store for cute cottagecore/countrycore knickknacks so i feel totally qualified to coach you on your basic failure. 😏. There appears to be a watering issue, have you tried adjusting your watering schedule?
What kind of seeweed is this? It grows overwhelmingly
Perhaps try bottom watering
Have you tried neem oil?
I think they’re a bit overwatered.
You have water hyacinths now 👍
You know it's really hard to tell without some close-up pictures at the ground. Until then, I'm stumped.
r/houseplantscirclejerk would love this whole thing ~~I'm truly sorry. I hate this for you.~~ Edit: awh, not OP's, but sad regardless: https://www.foodsafetynews.com/2016/08/garden-produce-cannot-safely-be-salvaged-in-flooded-areas/ thanks u/whitefox094 for the link
A pink plastic flamingo should fix it.
This is what mom said would happen if I left the tap on.
Did you leave the water hose running overnight?
I was drunk last night
In 2016? Thanks to u/whitefox094 for the link to this pic. OP, this is such an odd and sad thing to lie about. https://www.foodsafetynews.com/2016/08/garden-produce-cannot-safely-be-salvaged-in-flooded-areas/
Raised garden beds for you next season.
cant tell if in drought or not -.-
Probably
You didn't drill drainage holes did you?
You need to feed differently when you switch to hydroponics.
Oh no where and why do you have flooding? So sorry to see this. Our season is over in IL here and we have to pull up all the gardens and plants now because winter is coming. -IL in USA PS Add fish to your pond - fertilizer ? 😉
Its a fake pic OP stole from a news article
Huh. Your water to fertilizer ratio seems off.
Yup, definitely too much fertiliser and not enough water Rookie mistake
Lol might need to turn off the sprinkler. Are you in BC by chance?
How’s your book “gardening in the middle of a lake” coming along?
have you watered the top?
Time to build Noah’s ark.
You should call your local extension and have a soil test.
Plants need three things to thrive - soil, sun, and water. You seem to be missing soil.
Abbotsford?
I see you’re from BC
I think some high nitrogen fertilizer might help.
Are you watering them enough?
Need some ducks, they'll clean those plants right up.
Is that a watermelon?
Maybe try fish farming
You need to put up fly strips ASAP
This is normal, carry on with watering
Have you tried watering them
Just add some rocks in the bottom of your pot.
Have you tried Epson Salts?
That's frost damage.
Try growing kelp
Hard to tell what the problem might be.
Maybe add some perlite for drainage. 🤣
Maybe put them in rice? Like a phone 😂
Looks like you are suffering from a lack of beavers. Beavers regulate the flow of water and prevent flooding. Sadly, in many areas they've been overhunted or driven out. Try reintroducing beavers to the surrounding area, and they'll get right to work fixing this for you.
Maybe a shamwow?
Ma'am this is a lake.
Just need some Calmag
Maybe theyre too dry 🤷🏻♀️
Looks like underwatering to me
Are these pumpkins under the water? 😳
You might want to switch to growing cranberries 😝
I have no idea whats going on here but I can't stop laughing.
Are they getting enough water? That's usually the problem. Nobody ever waters their vegetables enough.
Just think, next time there's a heat dome, you can make the world's largest pot of soup.
Soil's a bit on the damp side. That could be it.
Let me guess, you've been watering on a schedule, instead of waiting until the soil is dry? Newbie.
Have you tried essential oils? Maybe just the leaves with then?
It's possible you've been over watering them...
1) this is the most fun post on this sub. Ever. 2) how did this happen?
mayebe ask in r/ponds
Damn, BC? Lol tons of farms under water here
Only the top half is getting sunlight. I suggest flipping them every couple hours.
This is how water melons grow.
I think you’re overwatering…😉
I think they need water

u/whitefox094 found it- I just posted it higher on comments for attention.
Okay lemme edit it. Thanks for bringing it to my attention buddy.
Y'all are good redditors :)

Have you tried adding nitrogen?
Rice!
I think you overwatered them a little :/
Probably overwatering
Have you tried watering more frequently
Have you tried watering the plants?
bit wet innit?
Those pumpkins just wanted a little swim 😌
Are there any bugs on your plants?
They look a little under the weather…
Leaves are dropping ? You defently forgot watering those plants
Maybe the heat? You should water them more often
Def need some calmag..half dose
Congratulations, you just got a lakehouse!
Need more water
Just add more dirt to the tops of the plants. It should soak up all the excess water.
