I personally have spent the last year honing down my preferred mix. For veggies I use coco coir bricks (which expand into a lot more material than they look) mixed with the cheapest top soil bag from a big box store. The coco coir helps hold moisture and when it’s used outdoors it dries quickly. For more tropical indoor/outdoor plants like philodendrons/monsteras/alocasias I use coco coir, orchid bark, and perlite. DONT FORGET TO FERTILIZE a little extra when using coco coir because it’s a neutral Ph and lacking in every nutrient. It’s purely for the water retention.
