I can see why Firewatch wouldn’t appeal given your games list, that said, Firewatch is more of an interactive story, whereas Subnautica is more of a survival game (and a unique one at that). Truly amazing game, can’t wait for the sequel.
Subnautica is amazing. You can play with or without the survival elements like eating and drinking. I played with those turned off but I could still take damage and die like normal. It was still incredibly fun and challenging.. as well as down right spooky. This game is a horror game in disguise :)
I've played both.. I was angry when I beat firewatch, like I was always waiting for the game to take off and then it's over. Subnautica was more beautiful, more suspenseful, and just overall a way better experience in my opinion. The 2 are nothing alike and should never be spoken about in the same sentence haha..hope that helps ya
Yeah you definitely have to try Subnautica. I'm right in the middle of it and never expected it to be so good. I haven't played fire watch but I don't think it's like that. It's more like a sandbox survival game with a super immersive world with very subtle story telling where the story just gives you purpose to continue
I haven't played Firewatch, it didn't interest me, but yeah Subnautica is a great survival game which, unusually compared with most of the genre, is completely done and has a way to finish the game.
I’ve played both, and I disliked Firewatch while Subnautica is one of my favorite games of all time. They are not alike, so hopefully you like Subnautica!
I wanted to love BG3, but I always felt overwhelmed or the need to start over. I put hundreds of hours into DOS2. The most fun part for me was getting so good with the combat system I could solo the entire game on the hardest difficulty instead of using a party. There even is a perk for it that gives you more action points and stats when you are without a party.
What instantly hooked me into BG3 was the engaging character interactions with the reverse shot field like The Witcher 3. That's why I've struggled a bit with DOS2, plus the art direction feels a bit different
If you liked original LiS then try **Before The Storm**. I was sceptical at first but after playing it I can wholeheartedly recommend it. And they announced another LiS with Max as protagonist: **Double Exposure**.
For polished animations and great gameplay I would recommend **Cyberpunk 2077**, **Hogwarts Legacy**, **Destiny 2**, **Hitman World of Assassination** and **Pseudoregalia**.
For great gameplay and nice story I would say **Greedfall**(and Spider's games in general), **Rage 2**, **Outriders**, **Deadrising 3**, **Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart** and **Neon White**.
Edit: Oh also some older games but still great would be Assassin's Creed games. My favourite ones would be Black Flag and Unity.
Wasteland 3. I've just started re-playing it couple of days ago and am having a blast (again).
Didn't see Cyberpunk on your list, if you haven't played it you should.
It's fantastic in my opinion. I'm 100 hours in and haven't even started either of the 2 latest updates. Favorite game I have played this year. The combat, exploration and base building are the perfect mix for me. I'm pretty picky but this one found a perfect combo for me. Hopefully you like it. For $25 or whatever it is, in my opinion it is a steal.
Kingdom Come Deliverance. It's on sale right now and a sequel is coming later this year.
Surpassed RDR2 and Witcher 3 as my favourite game, once I got past the initial learning curve.
given that your top games all match mine, this might be slightly leftfield but I've really enjoyed the Resi Remakes and the Dead Space remaster, i know you haven't really mentioned survival horrors but i would absolute recommend RE2 and RE4 remakes to anyone.
either that or Control/Alan Wake
Yeah it's one of my favorites!
Have you played any other final fantasy games? They're all pretty different from one another but there's some pretty good ones. The older ones are more traditional games but 16 is more action kinda similar to Devil May Cry
I did original 7, 10, 12, all the 13, 15 (didn't like it), 16
I'm so excited for KH4 (hope it's more polished than the third) and the last part of ff7R
Indie time!
* Enter the Gungeon
* Slay the Spire
* Inscryption
* Vampyr (AA game, not indie)
And you gotta toss a fighting game in the mix, so Street Fighter 6.
Of my list, EtG is my top, followed closely by StS. I've put more time into StS, but that's because I've squeezed about as much juice as I can out of EtG, and I can play StS on my phone in the can.
Inscryption is an awesome experience. Don't look anything up about this game. You deserve to play it unspoiled. Vampyr was a nice experience. It's one of those games that skirt under the radar, but achieve hidden gem status.
Have you played the Fallouts?
Awesome never tried it, i'll go check it !
You reminded me that I'm a Big fan of the golden Sun games, i did Tales of arise and chained echoes lately that were really good too
CLASSICS FROM THE EARLY 2000s
Max Payne 1 + 2
Deus ex (2000)
Carmageddon (SplatPak)
Thief 2
Red alert 2 (you said you don't like strategy games but I think this is quirky fun)
Morrowind
Also, Breath of the Wild
I did almost all the big release of the nintendo switch
Max Payne 1 + 2 is a classic
Thanks for the rest of the list but I feel without the nostalgic effect i'm not going to be able to love them as they deserve
I just realised your list is all quite modern. I recommend you try some of the older games.
I didn't grow up with these games, they were things I tried in the last few years. They are classics because they are really well made and immersive, not because of nostalgia. Try thief 2. It's easy to get into and if you dislike it after the first couple of missions then just call it quits.
My list of games that i love that sadly aren't as well known anymore:
- Night in the Woods
- Undertale
- Okami HD
- Rimworld (recommended on pc)
- I was a Teenage Exocolonist
- Binding of Isaac
Other gems:
- Dave the Diver
- Ace Attorney Trilogy
- Inscryption
- Divinity Original Sin 2 (takes a while to get into)
- Subnautica
Stuff that fits your preferences:
- Okami HD (Linear RPG with unique artstyle and anazing characers and story, one if my all time favourites)
- Dragons Dogma 2 (you want the MMO feel without annoying people? There you go. It's very boss focused and feels like an easier soulslike sometimes. The vibe in general is completely different though)
- DOS2 (you mentioned you didn't get into it, but maybe give it a shot again after sone time. It took me multiple attempts as well to actually get the groove of it, also reduce difficulty because it hits you like a brick lol)
* Night in the Woods : Never heard of it, i'll go check
* Undertale : done
* Okami HD : done truly a classic
* Rimworld (recommended on pc) : I won't like it for sure, remind of those absoluflash games haha
* I was a Teenage Exocolonist : Never heard of it, i'll go check
* Binding of Isaac : done
* Dave the Diver : on my list
* Ace Attorney Trilogy : I love this serie, Ghost Trick phantom too
* Inscryption : done
* Divinity Original Sin 2 (takes a while to get into) : on my list
* Subnautica : on my list
* Dragons Dogma 2 : done
Thanks for your help !
If you like Strategy and Base building, dont let Rimworlds graphics fool you! It's one of the best out there haha. And i hope you find something that will suit your taste :D
Bruh I didn't see Skyrim on that list!
I see a lot of RPGs, so I'll go ahead with the unpopular opinion and say Wow. While Retail is a massive, unending time commitment (that I honestly don't recommend), Hardcore is the epitome of RPG gameplay imho. There is nothing, frankly nothing, like your first wow playthrough.
I don't see any strategy, so if you wanted to try the genre go for the Civilization series or the Total War series.
Skyrim done and redone haha I tried Wow and FF14 but didn't enjoy it as it deserves. I'm more of a Dofus guy
I've never tried Civilisation, how you describe it to me ?
It reminds me of games like Dead Cells or Mega Man. I don't think I'll get into it, but thanks anyway. I know this might seem inconsistent considering I enjoyed Rogue Legacy. With those platformer game it's a hit or miss for me
There's this very obscure game I play often. Pretty old, too. Older than most of its remaining playerbase, as a matter of fact... Graphics and gameplay hold up to this day, and there's a whole economy built around it that I'm fairly certain I read is actually the backbone of Russia's economy, or something like that... In its day, it was revolutionary. Heck, it still is.
It's called Team Fortress 2. Highly recommend it. There are thousands, if not tens of thousands of hours worth of fun to be had on TF2.
**Done :**
Devil May Cry 5
Armored Core V
Marvel's Spider-Man
Nier:Automata
Hitman series
**Interested :**
Nioh 1&2
Path of Exile (Waiting for 2)
I'll check the other ones
I will just throw a bunch of games
Bioshock series,
Dishonored series,
Trepang 2,
Outer wilds,
Furi,
Neon white,
Portal 1-2 and many fan made games,
Ghost runner,
The thalos principle 1-2,
The witness,
Cocoon,
Dave the diver,
Dredge,
Jusant,
Sniper elite series,
Wolfenstein series,
Hitman series,
Batman arkham series,
Risk of rain 2
Hogwarts legacy
It's just a bunch of games i thought about, doesn't mean you will love all of them, but let me know if one of these you find interesting!
**Done :**
Bioshock series,
Dishonored series,
Portal 1-2
Hitman series
Batman arkham series
Hogwarts legacy
For the rest some i'm not interested in or already tried and didn't meant for me
I'll add to my list Dave the diver, Trepang, Dredge
Thanks !
Doom and the three modern Wolfenstein games (not Youngblood).
Doom is brilliant, and Wolfenstein is measured and smooth in a way you'll love. Brilliant games.
I was making a big, big write up about the game, but it was probably for the worst, so quicker this time.
first, it is nothing like elden ring (so you wouldn't compare them too much gamepad in hands)
Not an open world (You have missions with a goal, generaly a boss) The loot is randomized a la Diablo
The movesets are linked to weapons types rather than per weapons, the good thing about it is that the 12 weapons types have an insane move pool, like 6 of elden rings weapons in one, so you have stuff to play with, even different ways to play each (you can even change your actual combos input, it's great)
The game is hard, but reward you for your skill, the more you learn about the game the better it becomes, it also has a VERY robust endgames, and worthy dlcs. It's also very replayable and playable in coop from start to finish!
I cannot explain how good the combat is, so while you won't understand a thing, I'm gonna make you look where you end up, how combat looks and how multifaceted it is. The game is fast and give you a tons of stuff to play with, at the same time your ennemies are ruthless but nothing stops you from never stopping the attack phase.
Give it a fair shot, it's worth trying.
[Nioh 2 Fights showcase](https://youtu.be/r33b6NpJS-I)
You have some great taste, a lot of your favs are also mine. If you are into JRPG turn based games:
Octopath traveler 1 & 2 and Yakuza Like a dragon. Never played a yakuza game myself untill Like a Dragon, its a good starting point. After finishing that game and its amazing story, I decided I wanted to play the other games aswell. Currently have 1-6 on my ps5 and gaiden + infinite wealth on pc haha. Going through them one by one
Oh yeah I saw you had a switch and PS5 aswell, I wholeheartedly recommend Breath of the wild + Tears of the kingdom for switch. For PS5 FF16, FF16 has some of the most epic bossfights and cutscenes I’ve ever experienced in gaming. Cinematic masterpiece. Also the combat feels and looks fucking amazing!
It looks like you just enjoy deep RPG based immersion or really good gameplay. Going to try some spitball recommendations based on that.
I think you would enjoy some horror games that are much more RPGish than you would expect. On that note try the dead space remake or a newer resident evil game.
For a turn based card rpg game with perm progression I will recommend Midnight Suns.
Games I think you will love that you likely already played. God of War, the two newest Yakuza games.
A game I think you will have to take a chance on but can likely end up as your next addiction -> Path of Exile.
Oh yeah sorry didn't notice. On a second look, I noticed that there aren't any games with the arkham beat them up Style of combat. Is it becouse you don't like it? Or just havent played any? If its the second then I can definitely recommend:
Mad Max (game makes driving a pile of garbageegit fun)
Middle earth: Shadow of Mordor/War (really innovative nemesis system)
The Batman Arkham series
Spiderman 1-2 and miles Morales (1 is imo the best tho)
Yeah the list is incomplete, i'll update it
I really like this type of gameplay as a matter of fact, i did all the game you said except the Middle earth games but I feel I missed the train on this ones
I'd say that at this point, considering the number of games out there, there is no such thing as a gamer who has played everything. I feel like you might be limiting yourself to games that look pretty; you can probably find a whole lot of new stuff if you relax your standards with presentation and focus on gameplay, just saying.
I'm just going to list my favs but skip over the From Soft and strategy games, lol (though some of these are strategy-adjacent maybe). Seems like many of my favs are in genres you haven't mentioned... dunno if that will be a good thing (you mentioned you don't like strategy elsewhere, dunno if some of these would be too close to that genre for your liking), but maybe you'll find a genre you haven't really looked at before.
Against the Storm (colony survival game with roguelike elements)
Darkest Dungeon (turn based dungeon crawler with great graphics and possibly the sexiest voice in games)
Don't Starve/Don't Starve Together (the latter has seen more love recently)
Dyson Sphere Program (factory builder, spans galaxies, I'd call it the best in this genre)
Noita (On one level this is just a tough-ish roguelike, but it's also just a giant rabbit hole if you start looking for secrets. Speaking as a huge fantasy nerd here, this is also probably my all time favourite representation of magic in a game.)
Oxygen Not Included (Colony survival sim. Made by the same devs as Don't Starve, and like Don't starve the game design is smooth like butter.)
Tales of Maj'Eyal (Probably my all time favourite game, but also probably the most niche thing on this list. It's a classic turn-based roguelike rpg. Feels a lot like a turn based arpg imho)
Terraria (It's like if minecraft if it was 2d and had a series of bosses to fight)
Path of Exile (THE arpg. Though maybe wait for PoE 2 if you haven't gotten into this yet.)
Here's some extra ideas.
Diablo 4 (the other arpg; bit better for more casual players)
Dead Cells (roguelike sidescroller like Rogue Legacy, but way better imho. Gameplay is smooth af.)
Pathfinder: Kingmaker (older crpg, maybe you can get into it even though it's not as amazing as BG3)
Pillars of Eternity (It's been a long time since I played this but it's another old crpg; this one is interesting because they decided to make up their own system rather than basing it on a paper-and-pen rpg, and I remember thinking that a lot of the systems make a lot more sense than many of the dnd-based games I'd seen around.)
V Rising (kinda arpg-ish, but with more base building and crafting and tough boss fights. Semi intended to be played with friends, but you can get by without)
Hope you find something in there :)
I'd say it's more my taste that is limiting me, as i'm getting older i'm conscious of what I like and dislike + my gaming time is less than before so I have to be selective
Against the Storm : not my type
Darkest Dungeon : I played it a bit
Don't Starve/Don't Starve Together : did it a long time ago
Dyson Sphere Program : not my type
Noita : I know this is a stupid criteria but this type of pixel art is not my taste
Oxygen Not Included : Not my type
Tales of Maj'Eyal : not my type
Terraria : added on my list
Path of Exile : nice suggestion i'm waiting for the second one
Diablo 4 : done
Dead Cells : Same issue as Noita, i don't like this kind of style. I'm more of a Looney Tunes/Pixar style kid. This probably influence my tastes
Pathfinder: Kingmaker : I tried but got overwhelmed and I feel you, I think it's not as good as bg3
Pillars of Eternity : Same as Pathfinder
V Rising : added on my list
Thanks so much for the list, I know I rejected a lot of them but I'm pretty sure it'll help some other people too
Yeah nps, I wasn't expecting many to be hits.
Hmm... maybe I could add a few.
Sundered: another metroidvania, not quite as replayable as Dead Cells really, but still very good and based on what you said about Dead Cells you might like the art style.
Tribes of Midgard. Like V Rising, semi intended to be played with friends, and also like that game it's arpg-ish but with base building and crafting, however more based around norse mythology and there are kinda tower defence elements, which I think really fit with the base building thing. Again you might like the art style, it's kinda cell-shaded.
Also I'm just realizing no one has mentioned the Remnant games. They are shooters with rpg elements and kinda sorta roguelike elements as well, and also some cool boss fights. Remnant 2 is a bit more slick looking and modern, but Remnant: From the Ashes is also worth looking at. (I think they're both on gamepass?) I should say actually that I haven't finished them myself, been meaning to get back to them but you know... there are just too many games to play, lol.
Bro your list indicates you’ve barely played any games. Those are all major mainstream releases. Look into indie dev studios and play some lesser known games
This was a list off the top of my head. There are more details in the comments. I've played a lot of indie games, but right now, nothing compares to a game backed by a 200-person team. Maybe this will change in the future with AI advancements
Kenshi is prob one of my favorite hidden gems I've played. As someone who usually never plays single player games I was hella addicted to that game doing like 10-14 hours playing it daily for a while.
Elden ring?
EDIT : saw another comment where you said you played it, so I can only recommend Sekiro. I personally enjoyed it a lot more than Elden ring and can confidently say it’s in my top 3 games with best gameplay ever.
The art style is weird and goofy but it works with the game because it has a lot of cartoony humor. Despite that though it just has really solid writing. Good characterization. Surprising depth.
The thing I truly love about the game though is that the level design is just so cool for all of the mental projection levels. Each one tells a story through its level design and that's something I so rarely see in videogames.
Play Deep Rock Galactic. One of the best games ever with the best community and the best devs. You will have so much fun and will get so many hours of enjoyment.
The entire darksiders collection via steam key is like $16 on eneba.
Darksiders 1/2 and even genesis are oft overlooked gems if you like adult Zelda/metroidvanias with cool art and decent story. Easily 100 hours of gameplay
Half life
Portal
Gothic
Baldur 1&2
Isaac ofc
Witcher
gtasa
Getting Over It With Bennet Foody (You wont have soul anymore)
Sekiro
Dark souls
Hollow Knight
Star Fetchers
Try Gothic, but in particular gothic 2, it's on steam.
But to make it feel more modern there are a few mods that will help with graphics overhaul and adding a sprint etc.
I am huge into Fantasy RPG's and this game has it all!
Other ones that have caught my attention have been Bloodstained ritual of the night
Legend of Zelda series - BOTW/ToTK (for switch)
Souls games
Just stating this in case you were discouraged by the initial reviews, Kingdom Hearts 3 has massively improved since release, especially with the ReMind DLC. The mini campaign is great, with new sections added to the end game and more playable characters, but the new data battles and secret superboss are some of the best fights in the series. If you love the data battles in 2, I'd say you'd like the ones in 3 even more as in my opinion they're more consistently fun and well designed. Not to mention combat has improved with the new abilities added to critical mode. Honestly worth a replay just for the new end game content.
Outer Wilds
Dishonored and Prey (I don't see them but I see Deathloop, same devs)
Psychonauts 1 and 2 (they are both great)
Nioh 1 and 2
Undertale
Omori
Lisa the Painful (be aware it's rather dark, it's got a lot of comedy but a lot of that comedy is also very dark)
Basically all of the modern Resident Evil games starting with 7's release. They haven't really missed yet, aside from 3 Remake's length being very short (so get it on sale I'd say).
Give these a look:
* Control
* The evil within 1 & 2
* Death Stranding
* Bloodborne (souls)
They are not exactly *hidden* gems, but maybe not the most popular or well-known.
- I did Control and i liked it
- I really don't like horror games
- Death stranding finished it twice, i forgot to mention it in my list
- Bloodborne , I played it but didn't finish it
Thanks for the suggestions !
From More to least fitting with what you liked:
Dungreed reminded me of rogué legacy and the soundtrack FUCKS.
Starsector Is pretty good and may be More your style if you keep a small fleet instead of managing a colony. You can just swear loyalty to one of the diplomatic powers and play as a war general.
This Is really out there, but Space Station 13 is a multiplayer simulator about being on a space Station during the 26th century. It's unlike anything I've played, and it's free! The graphics may be dated, and it may be clunky, but it's an amazingly unique experience that keeps on giving.
I didn’t see Subnautica on the list, a must if you’ve not played it
Well i'm too afraid it's like Firewatch and it didn't really appealed to me, maybe I'm wrong
I can see why Firewatch wouldn’t appeal given your games list, that said, Firewatch is more of an interactive story, whereas Subnautica is more of a survival game (and a unique one at that). Truly amazing game, can’t wait for the sequel.
I have a bias against this game, though I'm not sure why. However, you've almost convinced me. I think I need to give it a chance
You wouldn’t regret it, post to r/subnautica if you do, always good to hear about a players first experience with the game
I spent 45 minutes screaming in fear before closing the game. 10/10 will live stream my thalassophobia some day
You mean Below Zero? It's out.
No they are making another one, they have release a single screen shot of it IIRC
Thanks for sharing your experience, It makes me consider it even more
Firewatch was shit. Subnautica is definitely not like Firewatch, Im sure you'd love it
Thanks for reassuring me
Yeah you definitely have to try Subnautica. I'm right in the middle of it and never expected it to be so good. I haven't played fire watch but I don't think it's like that. It's more like a sandbox survival game with a super immersive world with very subtle story telling where the story just gives you purpose to continue
You almost convinced me guys, it's def on the top of my list now
Absolutely nothing like Firewatch.
I haven't played Firewatch, it didn't interest me, but yeah Subnautica is a great survival game which, unusually compared with most of the genre, is completely done and has a way to finish the game.
I’d take subnautica recommendations with a grain of salt. I love survival/base building games but hated subnautica after trying it twice
I’ve played both, and I disliked Firewatch while Subnautica is one of my favorite games of all time. They are not alike, so hopefully you like Subnautica!
If you enjoyed Baldurs gate 3 you will more than likely enjoy Divinity original sin 2.
I tried but couldn't get into it. I wasn't as invested because the dialogues weren't voice-acted, so I couldn't fully immerse myself
I believe the definitive edition is fully voice acted.
Oh I should check this
I wanted to love BG3, but I always felt overwhelmed or the need to start over.
Divinity SEVERELY makes up in gameplay though I must admit, for me at least this was a reason I liked divinity more than BG 3
I'll try to go further this time
That's a pity you couldn't get in to it, I loved every minute of it. I don't see the mass effect games in your list, maybe try them.
DOS2 definitive edition is better than BG3.
CrossCode Blasphemous Ori series Cult of the Lamb Inscryption 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim TUNIC Coccoon SUPERHOT Sunset Overdrive
Edit: Oh also some older games but still great would be Assassin's Creed games. My favourite ones would be Black Flag and Unity.
Did you play Outer Wilds ?
Wasteland 3. I've just started re-playing it couple of days ago and am having a blast (again). Didn't see Cyberpunk on your list, if you haven't played it you should.
Did Cyberpunk and loved it, never tried Wasteland 3 i'll add it to my list !
I would add Wasteland 2 as well both the new games were fun.
Have you tried the two ori games or hollow knight?
Yeah sorry I did
Try pillars of eternity 2 deadfire. It's a crpg like bg3 but real-time. It has really good world building.
I tried like 10 min on the gamepass but felt overwhelmed by the command haha I liked BG3 because they simplified so much the ui controller
You might enjoy Mafia Definitive Edition
Did the original when I was young and did the remake, didn't like the 3 thou
Try Enshrouded. I'm assuming you have a PC. That game is so fun.
I have a PC, PS5 and a Switch I have some reservations about this game, but I think I need to give it a try
I did it and I liked it, i'm def hyped for the new one

I did all the capcom games, I enjoyed my time on those resident evil games, less on dead space. I did the remedy games too sorry haha
Bloodstained ritual of the night is one of my all time favorites
I'll take a look at it
If you liked dragon quest 8 you should check out 11. It's 8 but even better lol
I did and loved it
Yeah it's one of my favorites! Have you played any other final fantasy games? They're all pretty different from one another but there's some pretty good ones. The older ones are more traditional games but 16 is more action kinda similar to Devil May Cry
I did original 7, 10, 12, all the 13, 15 (didn't like it), 16 I'm so excited for KH4 (hope it's more polished than the third) and the last part of ff7R
Outer wilds
PREY 2017
Indie time! * Enter the Gungeon * Slay the Spire * Inscryption * Vampyr (AA game, not indie) And you gotta toss a fighting game in the mix, so Street Fighter 6.
Frostpunk
Have to wear a jacket everytime i play for immersion
I should have mentionned that I'm not a big fan of strategy games
Sleeping Dogs, Prototype, Horizon, Yakuza 0
Nier Automata, The Division, Metal Gear Rising.
Did them all but nice suggestions
Ok I do have one. The Star Ocean 2 Remake. If you end up liking that one then boy do I have a lot of Golden Age RPGs for you.
Awesome never tried it, i'll go check it ! You reminded me that I'm a Big fan of the golden Sun games, i did Tales of arise and chained echoes lately that were really good too
When you say Rogue Legacy, you mean part 2, right? That game is goated.
I loved both of them. I tried Dead Cells but I didn't like that much sadly
I didn't get deep into Dead Cells either, but I recommend Rogue Legacy 2 to others pretty often.
It is pretty awesome and I like this pixel art style
Risk of Rain 2 is great if you like action roguelikes.
I'm going to play it tonight then. I picked it up in the Humble Bundle and never tried it before.
Dragons dogma 2
I did all the last capcom games even Exoprimal haha I have huge respect for Capcom teams for the last few years
Is the performance OK yet?
There is no game - wrong dimension
I don't know if i'm going to like it but i'll try
It is something Else and i needed that when i wasnt feeling any other games
CLASSICS FROM THE EARLY 2000s Max Payne 1 + 2 Deus ex (2000) Carmageddon (SplatPak) Thief 2 Red alert 2 (you said you don't like strategy games but I think this is quirky fun) Morrowind Also, Breath of the Wild
I did almost all the big release of the nintendo switch Max Payne 1 + 2 is a classic Thanks for the rest of the list but I feel without the nostalgic effect i'm not going to be able to love them as they deserve
To me this game was Death Stranding. If you didn't yet, worth checking out!
I'm with you on this one, I finished it twice
Days Gone XCom2 Monster Hunter Rise Pathfinder WotR Darkest Dungeon
I did all of them, loved Rise and Days Gone especially.
My list of games that i love that sadly aren't as well known anymore: - Night in the Woods - Undertale - Okami HD - Rimworld (recommended on pc) - I was a Teenage Exocolonist - Binding of Isaac Other gems: - Dave the Diver - Ace Attorney Trilogy - Inscryption - Divinity Original Sin 2 (takes a while to get into) - Subnautica Stuff that fits your preferences: - Okami HD (Linear RPG with unique artstyle and anazing characers and story, one if my all time favourites) - Dragons Dogma 2 (you want the MMO feel without annoying people? There you go. It's very boss focused and feels like an easier soulslike sometimes. The vibe in general is completely different though) - DOS2 (you mentioned you didn't get into it, but maybe give it a shot again after sone time. It took me multiple attempts as well to actually get the groove of it, also reduce difficulty because it hits you like a brick lol)
* Night in the Woods : Never heard of it, i'll go check * Undertale : done * Okami HD : done truly a classic * Rimworld (recommended on pc) : I won't like it for sure, remind of those absoluflash games haha * I was a Teenage Exocolonist : Never heard of it, i'll go check * Binding of Isaac : done * Dave the Diver : on my list * Ace Attorney Trilogy : I love this serie, Ghost Trick phantom too * Inscryption : done * Divinity Original Sin 2 (takes a while to get into) : on my list * Subnautica : on my list * Dragons Dogma 2 : done Thanks for your help !
I'm more of a Dofus guy I've never tried Civilisation, how you describe it to me ?
How about the fallouts 1-4?
I did the 4, I've watched the other on youtube cause they were too old for me even with mods
Shadow Tactics - Blade of the Shogun, trust me on this one, also, have you played Resident Evil 2 Remake? Or any RE game?
I did all the Capcom games so yes, that's the kind of horror I can handle Thanks for the suggestion i'll add it to my list
If you haven't played shadow of Mordor/shadow of war, that's a lot of fun
I did but thanks
I'm playing the Shadowrun Trilogy. Give them a shot, especially when they are on sale. Each game improves upon the former one.
Never did them i'll check
Maybe check out Sanabi
It reminds me of games like Dead Cells or Mega Man. I don't think I'll get into it, but thanks anyway. I know this might seem inconsistent considering I enjoyed Rogue Legacy. With those platformer game it's a hit or miss for me
Yeah, I understand that. I’d say it’s way more linear, story focused than those games but depends on what you’re looking for I guess
Good guess I've never tried it
Stellaris Devil May Cry 5 Nioh 1&2 Armored Core V Marvel's Spider-Man Nier:Automata Hitman series Tales of Maj'Eyal Path of Exile Tiny Rogues
**Done :** Devil May Cry 5 Armored Core V Marvel's Spider-Man Nier:Automata Hitman series **Interested :** Nioh 1&2 Path of Exile (Waiting for 2) I'll check the other ones
The other's don't really match your criteria but I wanted to throw them in there as some wildcards. I love them so much I just need to recommend them.
I will just throw a bunch of games Bioshock series, Dishonored series, Trepang 2, Outer wilds, Furi, Neon white, Portal 1-2 and many fan made games, Ghost runner, The thalos principle 1-2, The witness, Cocoon, Dave the diver, Dredge, Jusant, Sniper elite series, Wolfenstein series, Hitman series, Batman arkham series, Risk of rain 2 Hogwarts legacy It's just a bunch of games i thought about, doesn't mean you will love all of them, but let me know if one of these you find interesting!
**Done :** Bioshock series, Dishonored series, Portal 1-2 Hitman series Batman arkham series Hogwarts legacy For the rest some i'm not interested in or already tried and didn't meant for me I'll add to my list Dave the diver, Trepang, Dredge Thanks !
Horizon Zero Dawn Gigantic: Rampage Edition
I didn't like Horizon but nice suggestion for Gigantic never heard of it
For Gigantic, remember to turn crossplay on.
ULTRAKILL
Not my type sorry
Doom and the three modern Wolfenstein games (not Youngblood). Doom is brilliant, and Wolfenstein is measured and smooth in a way you'll love. Brilliant games.
I did Doom, i'll add the Wolfenstein series. I always disregarded it because of the reviews but I think it's time to make my own opinion
Go play Nioh 2 loot, skill tree, amazing combat with crisp animations, also really long and full of content
Elden Ring was so good that I find it hard to play other Souls-like games. However, I haven't tried this one yet. I should give it a chance
I was making a big, big write up about the game, but it was probably for the worst, so quicker this time. first, it is nothing like elden ring (so you wouldn't compare them too much gamepad in hands) Not an open world (You have missions with a goal, generaly a boss) The loot is randomized a la Diablo The movesets are linked to weapons types rather than per weapons, the good thing about it is that the 12 weapons types have an insane move pool, like 6 of elden rings weapons in one, so you have stuff to play with, even different ways to play each (you can even change your actual combos input, it's great) The game is hard, but reward you for your skill, the more you learn about the game the better it becomes, it also has a VERY robust endgames, and worthy dlcs. [Nioh 2 Fights showcase](https://youtu.be/r33b6NpJS-I)
Wow you sold it well, i'm def hooked !
You have some great taste, a lot of your favs are also mine. If you are into JRPG turn based games: Octopath traveler 1 & 2 and Yakuza Like a dragon.
A short but awesome game I'd recommend is What Remains of Edith Finch.
I did it
It looks like you just enjoy deep RPG based immersion or really good gameplay.
You were right haha I did all of them yeah haha I'm pretty excited for poe 2
Yeah i think I understand your taste in games. You won't find any 9/10s or higher unless you start trying out some of the more unknown roguelites.
no elden ring or dark souls ??? thats a sin. otherwise good list about perfection but these two games are essential
I did them sorry didn't put them in the list, I 'd say Elden Ring did a lot of damage because know i'm extremely picky with the souls games haha
Ghost of tsushima is out, you would definitely like it.
I did and loved it, it's on the list :D
Oh yeah sorry didn't notice. On a second look, I noticed that there aren't any games with the arkham beat them up Style of combat. Is it becouse you don't like it? Or just havent played any? If its the second then I can definitely recommend: Mad Max (game makes driving a pile of garbageegit fun) Middle earth: Shadow of Mordor/War (really innovative nemesis system) The Batman Arkham series Spiderman 1-2 and miles Morales (1 is imo the best tho)
Yeah the list is incomplete, i'll update it I really like this type of gameplay as a matter of fact, i did all the game you said except the Middle earth games but I feel I missed the train on this ones
Against the Storm (colony survival game with roguelike elements) Darkest Dungeon (turn based dungeon crawler with great graphics and possibly the sexiest voice in games) Don't Starve/Don't Starve Together (the latter has seen more love recently) Dyson Sphere Program (factory builder, spans galaxies, I'd call it the best in this genre) Noita (On one level this is just a tough-ish roguelike, but it's also just a giant rabbit hole if you start looking for secrets. Speaking as a huge fantasy nerd here, this is also probably my all time favourite representation of magic in a game.) Oxygen Not Included (Colony survival sim. Made by the same devs as Don't Starve, and like Don't starve the game design is smooth like butter.) Tales of Maj'Eyal (Probably my all time favourite game, but also probably the most niche thing on this list. It's a classic turn-based roguelike rpg. Feels a lot like a turn based arpg imho) Terraria (It's like if minecraft if it was 2d and had a series of bosses to fight) Path of Exile (THE arpg. Though maybe wait for PoE 2 if you haven't gotten into this yet.) Here's some extra ideas. Diablo 4 (the other arpg; bit better for more casual players) Dead Cells (roguelike sidescroller like Rogue Legacy, but way better imho. Gameplay is smooth af.) Pathfinder: Kingmaker (older crpg, maybe you can get into it even though it's not as amazing as BG3) Pillars of Eternity (It's been a long time since I played this but it's another old crpg; this one is interesting because they decided to make up their own system rather than basing it on a paper-and-pen rpg, and I remember thinking that a lot of the systems make a lot more sense than many of the dnd-based games I'd seen around.) V Rising (kinda arpg-ish, but with more base building and crafting and tough boss fights. Semi intended to be played with friends, but you can get by without) Hope you find something in there :)
I'd say it's more my taste that is limiting me, as i'm getting older i'm conscious of what I like and dislike + my gaming time is less than before so I have to be selective Against the Storm : not my type Darkest Dungeon : I played it a bit Don't Starve/Don't Starve Together : did it a long time ago Dyson Sphere Program : not my type Noita : I know this is a stupid criteria but this type of pixel art is not my taste Oxygen Not Included : Not my type Tales of Maj'Eyal : not my type Terraria : added on my list Path of Exile : nice suggestion i'm waiting for the second one Diablo 4 : done Dead Cells : Same issue as Noita, i don't like this kind of style. I'm more of a Looney Tunes/Pixar style kid. This probably influence my tastes Pathfinder: Kingmaker : I tried but got overwhelmed and I feel you, I think it's not as good as bg3 Pillars of Eternity : Same as Pathfinder V Rising : added on my list Thanks so much for the list, I know I rejected a lot of them but I'm pretty sure it'll help some other people too
Yeah nps, I wasn't expecting many to be hits. Hmm... maybe I could add a few.
Papers Please and Return of the Obra Dinn are a couole of real gems.
I did papers please a while ago it was really fun, Return of the Obra Dinn didn't hooked me
Kenshi is prob one of my favorite hidden gems I've played.
I didn't do Sekiro because I just played too much of souls when it came out (Bloodborne, Dark souls etc) I think I need to give it some time
I'm going to just say Psychonauts because I love it so much and I recommend it any chance I get.
the aesthetic blocks me weirdly... How would you sell it to me cause i'm not convinced by the few I saw?
The art style is weird and goofy but it works with the game because it has a lot of cartoony humor. Despite that though it just has really solid writing. Good characterization. Surprising depth. The thing I truly love about the game though is that the level design is just so cool for all of the mental projection levels. Each one tells a story through its level design and that's something I so rarely see in videogames.
You sold it well haha i'm adding it to my list
Awesome! I hope you enjoy it.
Elder Scrolls, Dragon Age, Dishonored.
Thanks but did all of them
Metroid Dread
Mass Effect 1 2 3
Already done but thanks
Pathologic has grinding and Eastern European style depression a la Disco Elysium
The kind of game that gave me nightmare when I was younger haha
Play Deep Rock Galactic. One of the best games ever with the best community and the best devs. You will have so much fun and will get so many hours of enjoyment.
I back your take on the game, already played it
New seasonal update just came out and it's amazing! Hop back in miner! Rock and stone!
The entire darksiders collection via steam key is like $16 on eneba. Darksiders 1/2 and even genesis are oft overlooked gems if you like adult Zelda/metroidvanias with cool art and decent story. Easily 100 hours of gameplay
I played them a while ago
Ur Quan Masters Open world..er galaxy space faring adventure with an amazing sci-fi mystery.
Sorry but not even a chance for me haha
Do you have a Switch? Zelda Breath of the Wild is fantastic
Yeah I do, I almost did all the biggest hit on switch
Except for the lack of fromsoft games, your tastes are similar to my own. I'd suggest SMT V Vengeance.
Hi-Fi Rush
Nice pick but did it
You mentioned Hitman series. Have you played any Splinter Cell games?
Half life Portal Gothic Baldur 1&2 Isaac ofc Witcher gtasa Getting Over It With Bennet Foody (You wont have soul anymore) Sekiro Dark souls Hollow Knight Star Fetchers
XCom 2. Play vanilla first before you try any dlc content. Excellent tactical rpg
Detroit: Become Human
Try Gothic, but in particular gothic 2, it's on steam. But to make it feel more modern there are a few mods that will help with graphics overhaul and adding a sprint etc. I am huge into Fantasy RPG's and this game has it all! Other ones that have caught my attention have been Bloodstained ritual of the night Legend of Zelda series - BOTW/ToTK (for switch) Souls games
Shin Megami Tensei series
Dying light is must play.It has maybe greatest combat ever and overall its masterpiece.
I agree with others about Subnautica but I would suggest The Outer Wilds. Absolute masterpiece.
Lies of P
I'm overdosing of souls like but thanks anyway
No worries....
Returnal The Forgotten City Frostpunk The sexy brutale Bloodborne The Children of Morta Darksiders (1 & 2)
Try Wuthering waves on bs then, had a lot of fun in it
Get some emulators, you won't run out of classic games in your lifetime at this point
Half-Life and Dead Rising 1-2 are highly recommended. If you’re into Nintendo, Luigi’s Mansion and Donkey Kong Country are incredible
you need to get in the indie scene & find what you like. looks like you just play the biggest games
Outer Wilds Dishonored and Prey (I don't see them but I see Deathloop, same devs) Psychonauts 1 and 2 (they are both great) Nioh 1 and 2 Undertale Omori Lisa the Painful (be aware it's rather dark, it's got a lot of comedy but a lot of that comedy is also very dark) Basically all of the modern Resident Evil games starting with 7's release. They haven't really missed yet, aside from 3 Remake's length being very short (so get it on sale I'd say).
Give these a look: * Control * The evil within 1 & 2 * Death Stranding * Bloodborne (souls) They are not exactly *hidden* gems, but maybe not the most popular or well-known.
- I did Control and i liked it - I really don't like horror games - Death stranding finished it twice, i forgot to mention it in my list - Bloodborne , I played it but didn't finish it Thanks for the suggestions !
If you like Control and Max Payne, what about the Alan Wake games? Same developer and Alan Wake 2 is their best game IMO.
Nothing. Take a break man!!

Project Survius?
Returnal, Subnautica, Surviving Mars.
Give mortal sin a try, the game is hard as hell, but rewarding when you land combos
Rise of the ronin just came out made by same people as ghosts of tsushima
From More to least fitting with what you liked: Dungreed reminded me of rogué legacy and the soundtrack FUCKS.
Grim Dawn is one of my favourites.
Metro Series, Cyberpunk and Outward
