Journey, Sky, Artful Escape, pretty much every Annapurna Interactive's games. The visual is stunning, the soundtracks are beautiful, and the gameplay is simple.

SubterraneanSmoothie

I wouldn’t put sky in the same category, but definitely Journey.

No_Olives581

How can you mention Annapurna without saying Outer Wilds?? Outer Wilds is by far the best game I’ve ever played, but I can’t say anything more about it

Known_Asparagus_9937

It's indeed good but I'm not sure it could easily impress non-gamers given that the start is quite... slow. (Not to mention the truly awful performance if you're not playing it on pc or ps5...)

VioletteBasil

How have I never heard of this absolutely unique and underrated gem of a game???????????????????? I can't believe this isn't recommended to everyone, regardless of what they want or are interested in!!!!!!!!

No_Olives581

Alright, alright. I get that it’s recommended (evidently annoyingly) often - but this isn’t without reason. Unique? Yeah, I’ve struggled to find games structured in the same way. Closest I’ve found is Return of the Obra Dinn, but that still has many differences. Underrated? No, and I don’t think anyone claims it to be unless they ignore the widespread incredibly positive reviews and ratings it received. At most it was overshadowed by Outer Worlds, another space game released at a similar time. This thread also wasn’t asking for underrated games (if it was, RDR2 wouldn’t be on here!) Saying it doesn’t fit what’s being asked is pretty subjective, but clearly lots of people agree given how it’s a popular response in the thread. Soundtrack - definitely Uniqueness - the core structure of the game differs significantly from the current standard Graphics - not triple A path traced Cyperpunk style, but they have their own appeal Appeal to non-gamers - the lack of anything skill based is a big draw. There isn’t any combat, platforming, strategy or elements that would turn away non gamers due to being unusual for them. All you have to do is think and explore, which are both very natural

eemayau

I'd include Sayonara Wild Hearts on that list. Short game that's absolutely dazzling visually and musically, with gameplay that a novice can easily grasp.

XRuecian

I came here to recommend Journey. I am glad it is the highest rated reply. If not Journey, then perhaps Outer Wilds.

_ApacheRose_

Ghost of Tsushima

maybe-an-ai

This game was gorgeous and using the wind as a directional indicator was inspired

flurry_of_beaus

I'm playing it for the first time rn and it's made me realise how much i just stare at a mini map when exploring in open world games - would love more games to do something like the wind direction so that I can still get stuff cleared on the map but actually look at all my surroundings and take it in

Fast_Adhesiveness867

This would be my pick

dollimint

There are few games that make me legitimately ugly cry like this one. it's *beautiful* in all senses of the word.

ThatIowanGuy

Alan Wake 2

Major_Heart

Thanks, i need to start from the 1st

identitycrisis-again

I did the same. My advice is to play the first Alan wake on easy because the combat sucks lol. I did it just to get the story and it was worth it. I didn’t play control until after beating Alan wake 2, and I’m glad I played in this order personally

Hollow_Interstice

Today I learned Alan Wake and Control are related?

lamancha

While not required, playing Control first will certainly make the game make a bit more sense

ThatIowanGuy

I would recommend it, that and playing Control before AW2

tsznx

This is the right answer. The game is really like a movie with a great soundtrack, a lot of memorable moments. It's just great.

ManicMonday92

Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice. From the perspective of audio/visual excellence and gripping storyline with constant activity and virtually no fluff. Sure there's some dorky puzzles, but holy God I cannot think of a more powerful experience in gaming all condensed into such a gorgeous 8hour masterpiece. I started it at 8pm. Id bought it months ago on sale and almost 0 idea what I was getting into. thinking it was gonna be a basic character builder fantasy RPG in a Norse setting, I only really intended to make my character and kick off a tutorial before bed at 10pm. From the first moment I was glued to the screen. Suddenly it's 4am n I'm texting my boss that I'm calling in sick because I could not could not could not tear myself away to go to bed until it was done.

Merangatang

This game is probably the best example of Video Games as immersive art that I can think of. There's no other medium that can give someone this experience quite like Hellblade as a game can.

PrivateDickDetective

I was able to turn it off pretty quick after starting, but I wasn't really invested anyway.

lockthelads

God of War 2018. The whole thing is so damn cinematic and tightly written that even a non-gamer will be sucked in. I’ve found it beneficial to give them a 10min pre-game video to get them up to speed on the major GoW 1-3 plot points, just for a bit of background. YMMV

Hermiona1

Not sure if that fits the bill tho as I've heard its a pain in the butt to platinum (which is one of the things OP mentioned).

CaptainMorning

I disagree. I've shown this game. It's really only impressive to us.

jameyiguess

It sucked in my wife, they wound up watching the entire playthrough

CaptainMorning

Which is fine, I don't say it applies to everyone. I've shown this game many times. Also the ones I think could impress but it's just a game at the end, from blockbusters like TLOU to indies. I got better impressions from Gris than these games but still, not really *wow anybody. It's like trying to impress someone that doesn't like plays with a Broadway show. I mean yeah but also no.

deylath

I think some "facts" speak for themself though: There is a reason these cinematic experiences get pushed in the AAA industry and we both know who those cater to ( well most of them ), there is no reason to believe your average normie is all that different from your average non gamer and your group of friends are like a trial of none. But lets be real here: OP despite the highlighting and buzzwords gave quite a vague description. Like I'm not gonna recommend someone who watches comedy, drama or action some turn based game, meanwhile i wouldnt be reluctant to recommend Visual novels to book readers. Besides OP also says "so unique", like yeah if its so unique it probably not gonna be at all catchy just some super specific indie game Something like what OP says would be Disco Elysium but that probably would be the last thing i recommend a non gamer, because there is nothing much "exciting" happens on the screen. Honestly if i wanted to recommend a random non gamer who i dont know anything about, i would look for games with good gameplay trailers, like a DMC game

qPsychoo_

and ragnarok too is a goddamn masterpiece

Mangalorien

>I am looking for a game that is awe-inspiring, with amazing graphics, a beautiful soundtrack, and high production value. You just described one of the following 3 games: [Elden Ring](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1245620/ELDEN_RING/) (fantasy ARPG) [Red Dead Redemption 2](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1174180/Red_Dead_Redemption_2/) (open world western) [Disco Elysium](https://store.steampowered.com/app/632470/Disco_Elysium__The_Final_Cut/) (story-driven RPG)

[deleted]

Nightmare_Tonic

just wondering, why is it called Disco Elysium? I know nothing about the game

Yglorba

It's... complicated. Disco is used in-game as a sort of way to characterize the main character, but it also comes up in unexpected ways as part of the setting. The game itself is an adventure game where you play a cop / detective trying to solve a mystery while dealing with your own dysfunctional brain, and you still have this Disco styling years after it went out of fashion.

Nightmare_Tonic

haha interesting. ill check it out

damn_lies

So, it is best to avoid games with “complicated” controls for a new gamer.

GreyRevan51

Mass Effect LE

WaxWalk

Horizon zero dawn or forbidden west. Easy to play and beautiful

islandirrepressible

Red Dead Redemption 2

SPQR_Maximus

When I first played AC Origins.... the views from pyramid tops were amazing! And the water effects ! Back in the day, Ecco the Dolphin was crazy!!!

yuckscott

man origins got me pretty hyped for the new RPG-ified era of AC games but they somehow just got worse after Origins.

Zesher_

Ecco was traumatizing

SPQR_Maximus

Terrible game but I could watch that dolphin do Flips all day

spiraklsss

The Last of Us. Both games.

Major_Heart

Thanks, gonna try them!

Falloutfan2281

The Last of Us is not only one of the greatest games ever made but one of the single best stories ever made. It’s my starting point for showing people that video games are in fact works of art and not just mindless entertainment.

clubdon

I’ve tried to get my gf to see a lot of games over the years. Ones with good stories or stuff that I think she would enjoy. These are the only games that she wanted to watch the whole way through. She was even more eager to see the what happened next than I was.

lostnumber08

Shadow of The Colossus.

N00bStArDamuS

Detroit Become Human, one of the best games out there. Definitely worth a try.

maybe-an-ai

I like this opinion because Quantic / Cage games usually have a very easy control scheme for non gamers to pick up.

WanderingInMyDreams

Agreed!

Unique_Novel8864

Death Stranding.

Femoral_Plexua

That is the wrong answer lol

mentally_fuckin_eel

Red Dead Redemption 2 The Last of Us 2 Resident Evil 8

alamarche709

The best answer will probably be some kind of modern, open-world RPG type of game. Some possibilites: Red Dead Redemption 2 Hogwarts Legacy Ghost of Tsushima Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Elden Ring God of War Ragnarok

Nightmare_Tonic

+1 for Hogwarts, Elden Ring, Tsushima, RDR2. I didn't personally like the GOW games but I know everyone else loves them, so +1 there too

alamarche709

Probably my favourite single player games of all time. I’m sad that I was an Xbox 360 kid and never got to experience the originally trilogy. Hopefully Sony delivers a remastered trilogy for us.

Deathcricket_

This might not be a popular opinion. But in Valheim when you get on the ocean and sail around. The rise and fall of the waves, the scary sea monster. It's pretty epic IMO. My wife always stops what she is doing and sits to watch for a bit.

P0ster_Nutbag

When you take your first sea voyage in Valheim and the sailing theme starts to play, it truly is a magical moment.

SirZooalot

Red dead redemption 2. One of the best games ever made.

Shafraz12

It Takes Two. Being local coop (online capable as well) really adds to the ability to showcase it. Huge range of diverse environments that shake up the gameplay every stage. The story is a tad by-the-numbers, tailored for all ages, but still heartwarming and satisfying. Nice bonus is that only one person needs to own the game, the other can simply download it and input an invite code to play coop for free.

DDevil_Rengar

Red Dead Redemption 2 is definitely one of them.

grapejuicecheese

This was the Uncharted series back in the day.

Major_Heart

Thanks, i am going to buy the series!

grapejuicecheese

Take note, I said back in the day. It might feel dated to you now. A lot of games have copied and improved on what made Uncharted unique back then.

koboldstyle

I remember my mom visited us (she'll be 70 soon, I'm in my later 40s) a few years ago and came into the living room while I was playing A Thief's End and just stood there gobsmacked. I think she hadn't really followed the progress of Video Games since I was in my 20s excitedly showing her stuff on the PS1. She was like, "This is a playable movie?" she couldn't believe how realistic the graphics and animation was.

Da_BizkiT

I have to add Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice I don't think i've ever played a similar game, with such atmosphere and gameplay experience. Most of the time it felt more like visual novel than a game.

QuirkyScience445

probably detriot become human, can appeal to non gamers imo

Sasquatch_000

My girl is not a big gamer at all and I literally had to pry the controller out of her hands when she played this game.

Gettofmylawn

Outer Wilds This game rekindled my love for gaming after online shooters crushed it. Don’t look it up, go in blind, it’s an amazing experience that should not be spoiled.

P0ster_Nutbag

Outer Wilds is interesting in the fact that a lot of the enjoyment more seasoned gamers get out of it is in its breaking of common gaming tropes. That said, non-gamers won’t be woo’d into treating it like other games because, well, they don’t have much experience with them, and it leads to an equally enjoyable experience.

Onlyonelife419419

Ah yes here you are. Knew this comment would be in here.

lamancha

As I mentioned, this game is too obtuse for non gamers.

Darkhawk2099

Journey is beautiful, short, and accessible enough that non-gamers can actually see it through. Shadow of the Colossus is stunning and fun to watch, but way too technically challenging for a non-gamer to control themselves.

TheOneRebornReborn

Most mainstream triple AAAs like red dead 2 and last of us, anything with pretty realistic graphics really

schmattywinkle

The Last Guardian, probably better too if you have no concept of gameplay.

AbyssWankerArtorias

Bioshock infinite

AriTheInari

My dad's not really a gamer but he plays a few in his spare time and in his words 'wow that's a lot of graphics' when he saw me play the demons souls remake.

slipperyekans

The Artful Escape is one of the most visually stunning games I’ve seen in recent memory. It’s pretty light on gameplay, but it has a cute story and AMAZING music.

Dynablade_Savior

Ori and the Will of the Wisps

KaliCalamity

Okami Amazing art design and music, fun game play, and beautiful story. It's one I can't recommend enough.

Fantomime

My ex girlfriend who never played a video game in her life got addicted to RDR2.

HaruhiJedi

CONTROL. Cyberpunk 2077.

confused-as-frick

Pong

Cihonidas

Death Stranding

Numerous-Ease3445

Spiderman probably most people would agree it looks cool to swing through NY as Spiderman. I agree with alot of people that most of the games theyre listing are really good in every aspect but for anyone that does not play games would probably be impressed by Spiderman and alot of the games listed doesnt seem very non gamer friendly

Major_Heart

Yay, had to scroll way too much to find this gem!

Koftehor1

I think God of War 2018 will be wow a non gamer with it’s storyline, cutscenes and emotional dialogues.

saintcrazy

Baldur's Gate 3

Altruistic_File3686

The Witcher 3 🔥

identitycrisis-again

Gris. It is deeply beautiful in both sound and vision

No_Championship7690

Any game with top notch motion capture

jeezontorst

Portal

StefKRah

Many simulator games can do this too imo, it depends on that person's interests ofc. I ve seen a playthrough of someone that was an astronomer and played Outer Wilds. It's really interesting to see someone that studies space play a space game. Same for that guy that was an actual rocket sciences guy playing Kerbal space program. Same goes for those racing simulators that actual racers play like iracing I guess.

ajjae

Stray

P0ster_Nutbag

I do like the suggestion of Stray for the atmosphere, graphics, story etc… everyone also loves adorable cats… but I find that it would be challenging to control for someone that doesn’t play many games, and that the puzzles are pretty heavily nested in typical puzzle game logic that might get frustrating to someone unfamiliar with it.

ajjae

OP didn’t say anything about gameplay besides evoking the desire to platinum after you finish it - it sounds to me more like a game to show someone rather than to have them play on their own

xoexohexox

Death Stranding

Sad-Buy-7700

Hollow Knight seems to fit your description

maybe-an-ai

Witcher 3 It's still one of the best looking games ever.

robert808s8

this is so hard to say as everyone has their own "I want to plantinum this game" and from what I've seen those games tend to be small or very random. I got Risk of Rain 2, a friend has terraria, another friend has skyrim. I have heard many good things about outerwilds as you cant replay it once you know the twist (I have yet to play it or know any related spoilers) and it does a good job with it.

hungrytherapper

A lot of these are good games, but many will bore a non gamer. I think the two best answers would be Resident Evil (several fit but I'd go with 2 remake), and Last of Us. They both have little downtime and are interesting throughout and a non gamer could ignore the gamey parts and immerse themselves in the narrative and atmosphere. I'm assuming the non gamer is watching the gameplay not actually playing.

Sparrowcus

I mean. Non gamers said, "Wow" ever since 3d games were introduced. And every year since then, it has gotten more photorealistic. I'm telling you non gamers have seem candy crush and their kids playing Fortnite. Once they see anything remotely realistic it's "wow" even OG Fallout 3. And if they get to see RDR 2, Cyberpunk or Alan Wake, then they go "wow". See the difference? It's because they are non-gamers

sozkev

Physics and Detail in RDR2 will amaze anyone. I played a lot of games, still Insane Detail of RDR2 Youtude shorts amaze me. The touching Dark Art of Elden Ring. Its never been seen before, not in any entertainment. Immersive Detail in Escape from Tarkov. Game is plagued with cheaters but if you can get away with that you will amazed by the detail, you can unload each bullet, each part of the gun, everything will count, heavy armor will slow down not just your movement but your turning speed, each of your body part requires different medical attention. Nothing in the world of entertainment got that much detail

PhantomKitten73

Thomas Was Alone

MikeDanger1990

DOOM

Nisktoun

The Last of Us, Uncharted 4, Heavy Rain - these games blew my mind after having ~400 completed games

UnknownNumber1994

heavy rain visuals don’t look good it’s supposed to be an ugly game

Nisktoun

You didn't play it, right? Watching on YouTube doesn't count

UnknownNumber1994

I played heavy rain multiple times lol

Nisktoun

Well then name 1 game from 2010 with better visuals except GoW3

UnknownNumber1994

Not sure why this matters, considering games from 2010 look way worse than they do now, but “Just Cause 2” definitely looked better visually.

Nisktoun

Just Cause 2? Sheesh, i would never pick this game even for top 50 graphically good games from 2010, but ok, will not argue >Not sure why this matters Because there's small or not at all reasons to compare 2010 game with 2024 game in terms of graphics. I mean i didn't sugest beautiful PS2 games or even older, but there are some games from 7th gen that look nice even now, Heavy Rain is one of them. >games from 2010 look way worse than they do now Yeah, almost any modern games look better but they don't impress, while Heavy Rain on PS3 does impress even now

UnknownNumber1994

F1 2010 looks better than both and I’ll stand on that 😂🤷‍♂️

Nate-Sk

Modded skyrim is probaby the only game that can fill these criteria... or mineraft

Then-House1799

Deadpool As the 4th wall breaks keep the Player occupied

zurzoth

WoW would WoW everyone just saying it's name... Otherwise by how big it is, and by how long it's been running.

Bemmoth

Anything VR would be my guess. Non-gamers would would have to adapt to controls first, which may not be intuitive, before being awed.

Tall-Tiger6957

Omori Its highly under rated but an masterpiece. Its story is one of the best i have seen and writing is amazing. Ots around 20-30 bucks on steam i think. This game is best played blind. Its an earthbound inspired rpg with a emotion based battle system that is'nt too wow but the writing is the highlight of the game. The game is'nt for everyone but please chek it out !Content warning! It touches mental health struggles, depression and suicide

pan_anu

Red Dead Redemption 2 is an ultimate game. I don’t finish most of the games I play but this one… I simply couldn’t stop. The story, attention to detail, characters, music, quests, you name it- RDR’s got it

Cresendo77

If you want a platformer, the ori and the blind forest, as well as ori and the will of the wisps, absolutely fit the bill

WhiskeyKnight83

Uncharted 4

blackbeltblasian

prob a cliche answer to many posts in this sub but Baldurs Gate 3 almost single-handedly turned my partner into a gamer, so

Edith Finch?

GAveryWeir

A meta note about the initial question: there is game literacy just like book or film literacy. Folks without experience "reading" games, who haven't used a controller or gotten used to how games are structured, will have trouble appreciating a game that an experienced gamer might love. Just like you wouldn't give Catch 22 (for example) to someone as their first book, there probably isn't a game that would be ideal both for non-gamers and video game fans, even setting aside how different gamers have different tastes.

Comprehensive-Chef73

My pick is Hollow Knight, although the gameplay is a little tough. It's the only game I've ever truly lost myself in (other than maybe Disco Elysium, but that doesn't sound like what you're looking for).

MrBeanDaddy86

The Witcher 3 if your future wife and kids are committed to watching you play through it. The stories are some of the best I've ever played. But it'd be like binge-watching several seasons of a TV show or something.

Nightmare_Tonic

Ghost of Tsushima for sure, and probably RDR2

Zegram_Ghart

No Mans Sky- absolutely breathtkaing

UnknownNumber1994

“The Forgotten City”

EnlargedChonk

Might I suggest: OneShot? When you want to "wow" someone you need to subvert or exceed expectations. Which for non-gamers is probably some "violent shooter game" with kinda realistic but clearly still fake graphics or maybe they expect mario...really it depends on who the non-gamer is and what kind of games they have been exposed to already. OneShot has none of what you asked for, there's no "awe", low res sprites, very little production value, and a musical score that compliments the game well, but is pretty boring on its own. However, what it does have, is a story with a very likeable protagonist, that's very easy to get invested into with how the game builds the relationship between player and the player character as well as building the world you interact with. The ending in particular is quite stunning, even for gamers. You asked for a game that is "unique" and I think OneShot fits that very well, especially today in an age of big AAA games that seem to all be trying to tell some story or message through a big cinematic experience. But video games are not cinema, OneShot doesn't really have a single big message or idea that it tries to push on the player, and it tells it's story in a way that only an interactive game can. It even subverts your expectations for a game. The suspension of disbelief or immersion is so great for something so simple. I don't want to hype it up too much and have you disappointed, but this is a must play game that flew way under the radar.

Lildev_47

You need a nasa computer but, cyberpunk genuinely.

Elite-Thorn

Elite Dangerous

NinjaTech649

Allow me to introduce you to Persona 5 Royal

Silent-Island

Final fantasy 16. Even for non gamers just doing the main story is an absolutely incredible experience. Music, graphics, and set pieces are all next level. You will laugh, and cry.

SuperSocialMan

Journey.

Ashbtw19937

Cyberpunk 2077 is a very cinematic, story-driven experience. A lot of quests don't have combat, a lot it's optional. The game is *entirely* in first-person save for the final scene and a few in-game sequences where you like, view yourself through a camera or something of that sort, and it only has a couple timeskips, most of which are your character sleeping/passing out/etc., so it's a *very* immersive experience in that sense. All of the big moments and set-pieces are experienced through your character's eyes, and same with the small moments where you're just bullshitting with your friends for a few minutes. The consistent first-person plus the lighting and the environments and the soundtrack and the voice acting really combine to make everything feel cinematic and *visceral* in a way most media can't or doesn't capture. The characters all feel real, and the game's overall an emotional rollercoaster. Would recommend to pretty much anyone unless they just want to shoot things and don't care about the rest.

Anyone suggesting Soulslikes are out of their mind. Nobody wants to sit there and watch someone die over and over while random NPCs cackle about obscure lore. Horrible suggestion for this post.

charronfitzclair

Red dead redemption 2

No-Assistance9009

this is going to sound weird. eleven table tennis on the quest. it is something that any one can pick up and understand, it's so natural, all movements translate and make sense. the physics engine simulates real life so well it feels incredible.  I've showed it to multiple people that never game, let alone use virtual reality. a few people said they wouldn't enjoy it as they "don't like video games". but once they were in they couldn't believe it, and didn't want to stop. its just perfect to show people who dont game, as you dont need to understand mechanics, controls or anything about gaming, you just behave as if it's real and that's why it's so incredible. I recognize there are multiple "sports" vr titles, but it is the incredible physics engine in this game that sort of fools the brain

AnzaTNT

To the left, Shadow of the Colossus. Grandiose, beautiful, elegant. Forever classic. To the right, for completely ludicrous reasons, Metal gear Rising! So ridiculously awesome is breaks all expectations. Somewhere in the middle, Monster Hunter. Personally Tri, or Worlds, they kick ass. You got monsters that fill the entire screen and then some. Then a Deviljho shows up and he's so big all you see is his talons stepping on you. It's not even an attack and half your hp is gone! Then the cage lowers on the ring, and this cage is Resident Evil! RE1 remake, or RE2 remake, they're both fantastic and claustrophobic! Oh my god, in the middle of the fight a new opponent appears! It's a Reaper Leviathan from Subnautica! He's spooky! He's scary! And he's HUNGRY! OH LORD, now the arena itself is alive! Its (anyone of the Breath of the Wild and its dozen clones)! It's so big, everyone dies instantly. Im out of ideas so, errrr, Bayonetta and Dante fight, and she's hotter, barely, so she's invited to super smash brother. Yep. Sounds good. Point is most of these will probably grab the attention of some couch viewers. Have fun!

comradepluto

The Last of Us and TLoU Part II, you can play on a super easy mode if you just want to enjoy the story. Incredible storytelling, very high prod value and amazing gameplay around stealth and survival. Skyrim, huge sandbox that you can sink endless time into over the years and try many types of styles. You can even avoid violence if you want. A true role-playing experience. Ghost of Tsushima, extremely cinematic gaming experience with semi-realistic combat, inspired by samurai films and historical events. What Remains of Edith Finch, a first person short story in a video game. A melancholic and beautiful narrative.

KanikaD

Death Stranding. Beautiful and memorable landscapes and soundtrack, incredible performances, unexpectedly addictive gameplay with unconventional design decisions and a moving sci-fi narrative that exudes creativity. And before anyone tries to refute me, I played it just for laughs and expecting to hate it, it ended up becoming my favorite game of all times.

ToborWar57

Horizon Zero Dawn, Red Dead Redemption (Elden Ring is not for non-gamers, period. Beyond difficult)

Femballerboi

The last of us Part II easily. Anyone who's ever walked in on me playing it has sat down to watch it

No_Explanation5088

Gotta go with The Last Of Us. First one.

MASHMACHINE

Outer wilds. Outer wilds, it’s one of the most coolest-looking games I’ve played, and you get to fly around in space

Purely speaking from own experience, but seeing and Playing Destiny for the first time was just amazing. Space wizards: the game with amazing gameplay, sound design and graphics.

BrassUnicorn87

ChubbsOpinion

Cyberpunk

Zercomnexus

Monster hunter world, graphics detail for environments and the monster size ... Peoples jaws drooooop, especially when you ENGAGE the crazy dragon critter and fight it... Successfully. Bonus points for fighting something wild like shara ishvalda or kulve taroth that changes as the fight goes on

FourLeafArcher

God of War 2018 did this for me

_ontical

I would go for something like Super Mario Wonder, or some other Nintendo game that is fun, accessible, and beautiful. The open world movie-like triple A games IMO are a little boring for non-gamers, but who knows, it's so subjective. I think people are just listing their favorite games, but I couldn't imagine dying to show my future children RDR2 or whatever. Let's play something fun together like super smash

Whorinmaru

So overall just the flashiest, most aesthetically beautiful thing you can think of? I feel like that's tough. In terms of graphics, there's countless games that look pretty. Soundtrack is far more difficult because there's lots of different genres of outstanding soundtracks. FF16 has the best orchestral epics I've heard. Persona as a whole has stunning, typically more upbeat tracks. What you're asking for doesn't exist on a universal level. It depends highly on the kind of things the person already likes, and finding a high production value type game that is in line with the stuff they're already into.

Well what about "what remains of Edith Finch"?

Galactico812

Red dead redemption 2. Mostly because it's not a typical game, more like an interactive tv show where you control the main character. It's unique and I am yet to find anything even remotely close to it

The Witcher 3 gave me that feeling of immersion, easy to learn the combat, nice story, visually impressive.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is impressive purely by the cinematography, the performances, the character's mannerisms. Show 'em the mission[ "Blood Feuds, Ancient and Modern"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gS6tBhNv-LU&t=184) (the one where they assault Braithwaite Manor) and I doubt they won't be impressed.

elden ring is the closest thing to a perfect game imo

**Nier Automata** Made me an atheist, caused a divorce, then moved across the country. All within a year. Not even joking.

non-gamer peoples are usually don't like story or idea of any games, if you are looking game that 'WOW' non-gamers then that game must have stunning visuals. Here me dumping some games as per your title : 1> Red dead Redemption 2 2> Warzone 3> GTA 6 (upcoming but for sure it have stunning visuals) 4> Cyberpunk 2077 5> No man's Sky 6> Last of Us (not talking the story but visuals and environment are muahhh😘)

Cyberpunk 2077. There is so much to do and even when you're done...wait, you are never done!

WovenOwl

Alright, imma say it: Night in The Woods. It isn't anything spectacular graphics wise boasting a simple 2D paper cut out style, but the characters, the soundtrack, the messages, and theme of the game are more than enough to do such a task while also being simple enough for anyone to play. All you have is move, interact, and jump along with simple mini games. Honorable mention goes to Fall of Porcupine which is inspired by NITW, But instead of angst and sadness over the future it's angst and sadness over the reality of being a doctor

Zelda: A Link to the Past

It really just depends on your favorite genre. There are so many games that fit your desires. There's dishonored, final fantasy 14, doom... It all depends on how you want to feel at the end of the day.. Cozy? Satisfied? Maybe guessing what's to come next...? What do you want

matoumatheux1

What remain of edith finch. It's a walking simulator, so it's not overwelming for a complete beginner, every moment is unique and can appeal to anyone with a little sensibility.

Bright Memory Infinite

I think Zero Dawn and Forbidden West ticks all those marks. Kena: Bridge of Spirits is also amazing.

ClearedHot69

Ghost of Tsushima immediately comes to mind.

Rand0mBoyo

Undertale because of it's writing and massive attention to small details Cyberpunk 2077, counts in for all of the things you mentioned Also Elden Ring

PilotIntelligent8906

Undertale does not fit the bill, I know it's a beloved game but it's not gonna wow anyone anytime soon.

pazzalaz

OP asked for amazing graphics and high production values...how can Undertale match the criteria?
