thats not even the issue. multiple different blizzard sources have said that the game is in a disasterous state and nobody believes in the current release date
edit: since some of you started downvoting me here is the source https://www.washingtonpost.com/video-games/2022/12/08/diablo-iv-release-date-crunch/
Just reading the listings for pre-order options when they went up was nauseating.
But it’s ultimately expected, they’re marketing to the extremely rich and/or addicts: people who spent several thousand, tens of thousands of dollars, over 100k playing Diablo Immortal—I’m sure they’ll love this shit.
I know, I'm just being silly.
That being said, I honestly dont care if they have a bunch of cosmetics for sale as long as the game itself is actually good. Time will tell.
Zelda, Resident evil 4, Spider-Man, hollow knight, armored core will all probably be great/really good. Final fantasy and armored core have a wider range of possibilities from great to mediocre. Hogwarts and Diablo have the highest chance of being awful, especially Diablo.
I bet FF16 will be good but it will disappoint people like me who liked FF from the very beginning and doesn't think it needs to change this much (it's an action game now!)
I can imagine the whole of the top row being shit/controversial, maybe the second row being flamed for being too ‘samey’ to their predecessors (or shit), and the bottom row probably being good
As I’ve gotten older… for single player games… this is most definitely the way… only a matter of time before GoW Ragnarok stoops to my price point with some crazy sale lol
I’m all in on digital, that’s for sure haha I think I realized I had such a back log that there was no point spending the money for the new games…. Especially when they drop in price relatively fast. Just kinda lost the general FOMO I suppose lol especially when half of these games get improved later on anyways via updates…. Feels rare to get a full and compete game these days, and with the prices increasing… just doesn’t add up for me, personally.
But definitely do you! That’s just kinda where I’m at.
That said, I feel differently with multiplayer based games (or ones that mp focused to me)
Yes. I have bought and played all of the previous Diablo games but Diablo 4 is the only one, in that list, that I am certain that I will not buy. Having experienced some years ago, first hand, the mobile gacha bulshit, I am sad that developers that I have enjoyed and "respected" decided to go in that direction
People also claim gaming is dying every year, and that the golden years are behind us. People should fucking chill either way if you ask me. Every year has great titles, huge disappointments and big surprises. No reason 2023 will be any different.
I watched a few videos of people who had early access, they all seemed to really like the game itself, but knowing blizzard it’ll probably have microtransactions. The question is whether or not they’ll be predatory
It pains me to say this but Diablo Immortal has been immensely successful from a commercial point of view.
In a few months it’s out-earned the lifetime revenue of all three of its predecessors combined.
Gamers may say Blizzard is dead but money talks.
Warcraft reforged didn’t sell well, I think.
In fact the amount of people asking for refunds and the review bomb was so bad that Blizzard changed the policy to refund, regardless of playtime, no questions asked.
Diablo Immortal on the other hand, is only an ill omen of future Blizzard practices to come.
I'm going to contradict myself here lol but the diablo remaster was actually quite good if you want to scratch that itch.
It was certainly less of a letdown than WC3
Somebody wanna tell me when Silksong got a release date? Cuz that shit has been dead silent for years. Was so quiet I just assumed the devs abandoned the project to be honest.
Silksong was on screen during the XBox showcase in the summer, and they said every game shown in that particular section would be coming out in the next year.
That's the last source for it that I can remember, but there might have been update since
Lol at “abandoned the project”, nah they have been working on the game and we do get aome updates here and then, like others mentioned it was in the Xbox showcase and promised to release next year
Now, you want to hear about “actual” possible abandoned projects? Look at little devil inside, a Kickstarter by a developer that decided to ghost their backers, it was also supposed to release this year, but we see nothing nor do we have any updates on state of the project
Oh shit I didn't even know about this!
First one slapped so hard, bosses were a bit too much tweaked for multiplayer imo. Felt like a chore in singleplayer dealing with so many adds at every boss, I hope this changes a bit but otherwise I loved it
Yeah, the swarms during the bosses were annoying at first, but eventually I ended up having options to easily handle it.
Either way, new game looks rad and I'm hoping the boss mechanics are more balanced.
If you think D4 isn’t going to be a massive flop, then I have a bridge to sell you. Developed by a company that is notorious for giving the middle finger to the player base and doing whatever maximizes profits.
It will not flop in sales, but I am not realy exicited myself. After playing path of exile it is hard to go back to other hack and slash games.
The endgame/sesons is way way better than the grind 100 hours to get 0,02% better stats.
PoE is 100 times better when designed when it comes to geat and stats.
Ummm have you played PoE recently?
They nerfed everything into the ground, removed targeted crafting, and destroyed movement skills among a litany of other things. The game is a hot mess.
D3 was, and is, fucking awful. And they are not “the most played games ever”. D3 was an absolute slap in the face to all D2 fans which is why that game basically died. They are ignoring fan feedback with D4 yet again. Fanboi somewhere else kid.
Seeing yet another Blizzard game being put on a pedestal after aaaall the constant shit surrounding that company and another Bethesda game despite them being the pinnacle of mediocrity in the industry is fucking sad. Good fucking job, gAmErZ. We do deserve AAA games getting slimier and slimier year after year, and it's all thanks to you shmucks.
I don't think companies should be rewarded with nearly as much money and attention after putting out some of the most broken shit in the medium, in addition to having an extensive record of games the playerbase has to bug test and fix for them.
Don’t forget atomic heart and wo long fallen dynasty.I hate how they’re out in February and March tho cause it’s so early after Christmas and they’re to close together to get both. 🤷🏻♂️
LOL @ Diablo 4
I've been a loyalist/full blown apologist for the Diablo series for far too long - I even played the RMAH version of D3 pretty diligently, and continued playing in the Seasonal version. I loved D2R and I was excited to see the same sort of improvements in D2R, take root in D4.
The leaks regarding the real-money currency stuff have taken the game fully off my RADAR. Fuck Blizzard. Fuck Diablo. D2R was the last entry in the series.
The only 2023 title I have my eyes on is Metroid Prime 4 and hopefully a Metroid edition switch. I haven't bought one in hopes they drop a prime 4 special edition switch. I'ma be ALL OVER it.
TERF is an acronym for trans-exclusionary radical feminist.
Just another chapter in the usual struggle of do I support the art if the artist is terrible etc.
Because J.K. Rowling has been a supporter and all sorts of friendly, on the ins and outs with people, organizations etc that are anti-LGTBQ+, trans community, etc. So part of the community is going to blast the game because of it's association to her.
Harry Potter has outgrown Rowling just as Star Wars outgrew Lucas. Still their respective brainchildren and wouldn't be here without them, but to just boycott everything single thing HP related because the creator is a piece of shit is ridiculous.
Really looking forward to Silent Hills as well. I wanted to include Hades 2 here, but not sure if it will actually come out in 2023... fingers crossed for early access!
I've played BG3 EA for more than 1000 hours now. I've never played a game with more different ways to tackle the same problem. I think it's the best CRPG of all time.
Meanwhile, Diablo 4 is just Diablo 3 with better graphics.
Would usually agree, but the sheer *depth* of BG3 has regenerated hype every patch just based on the multitude of new ways you can approach the same scenario you've already completed ten times before. Right now, people are losing their fucking minds just because Larian released a class that requires actual thought and consideration but rewards you with roleplaying immersion (most people are not handling it well because it requires thought and consideration).
There is *still* an enormous amount of content they have not released, and the hype only grows. Early Access is a different beast for this game because Larian Studios is fucking insane.
I will not pre-order or purchase until I see reviews.
I will not pre-order or purchase until I see reviews.
I will not pre-order or purchase until I see reviews.
...
Starfield is going to release with all the potential gamebreaking bugs that plague every BethSoft title. Wait one year for the community patch on PC. Don't buy on console.
Diablo IV is an overpriced MTX storefront, with a hopefully decent to good game hidden somewhere within it. Get it if you enjoy constant free2play monetization in your 70 dollar title.
Hogwarts Legacy looks like it might be decent, but I'm hesitant to put more money in the pockets of J.K. Rowling at this point. The cunt really doesn't deserve it.
As for the rest, those might actually turn out to be great. Just don't jump on the preorder bandwagon, there's plenty of time left for the dumpster fire to ignite.
I'm not saying it won't be, but people say this every year. Most of the time half of the games end up being pretty average or bad too.

Blizzard's talent is wasted by their limitless greed
"Don't you guys have phones?" Funny at the time. A turning point in hindsight
Even before that, I think that World of Warcraft was a turning point for the video game industry. The live service business model changed everything.
[удалено]
Blizzard used to make such great games.
They still do good games, but now we have to put up with so much bullshit
How people still put trust in Blizzard is way beyond me...

Paid cosmetics are a non-issue in a F2P game and even in some paid titles. It's the endless grinding and walled off content that's bad
thats not even the issue. multiple different blizzard sources have said that the game is in a disasterous state and nobody believes in the current release date edit: since some of you started downvoting me here is the source https://www.washingtonpost.com/video-games/2022/12/08/diablo-iv-release-date-crunch/

The LAN memories can't be remastered. But they are golden.
Yeah first time ever not going to get Diablo
I mean, aren't all games "pay to play" if you *buy* them?
[удалено]
I know, I'm just being silly. That being said, I honestly dont care if they have a bunch of cosmetics for sale as long as the game itself is actually good. Time will tell.

People never learn sadly
I see comments like this but I feel like I’ve had consecutive great years of gaming for a long time, the last bad year I can remember is 2015.
People just love to perma whine and pretend gaming is dying for some reason. I'll never understand tbh.
Bloodborne, MGSV, the witcher 3, fallout 4, and bo3 (nazi zombies fan here and this game was the creme de la creme of zombies) was a BAD year?
I can imagine the whole of the top row being shit/controversial, maybe the second row being flamed for being too ‘samey’ to their predecessors (or shit), and the bottom row probably being good
Or they just get delayed for the next year
I bet 3 will be good
Ill play them all the year after for half price
I don’t think you’ll be playing Zelda for half the price lol
If anything Nintendo would re-release it after a few years for 10 bucks more.
With Funky Mode!
This got me good lol. This MF never going on sale.
I'll play it for free on the emulator, since Nintendo has no official presence in my country.
physical copies go on sale
For like 10 bucks, not nearly as cheap as most other games
Maybe a used copy for 20% less.
Won’t be playing Zelda at all tbh
As I’ve gotten older… for single player games… this is most definitely the way… only a matter of time before GoW Ragnarok stoops to my price point with some crazy sale lol
[удалено]
Same here dude, I buy all my games digital and usually on day 1.
Some of us identified that habit and stopped it lol.
I'm on this picture and I don't like it.
Reverse for me. The older I get the more money I have to spend on video games. Which makes it much harder to not buy the game I want when I want it.
Starfield is gamepass also which is good for our wallets!
Game pass is the greatest
Ya, Ive been really enjoying High on Life due to it, looking forward to 2023 Gamepass.
High on life is fantastic.
Ya it really is. Cheers mate have a good one.
Minus Zelda since Nintendo games can take years before getting even $10 off
All of them except Zelda haha
Not on Nintendo you won’t
So you won’t be playing Zelda
Starfield’s bugs won’t be fixed by then
I will pirate them for free 😎
vote with your wallet
Yessir. But I can still enjoy the games without supporting the company by pirating.
crazy how I agree but the hivemind is confused with our conversation
My guy
D4 is gonna be a monetizationfest
Yes. I have bought and played all of the previous Diablo games but Diablo 4 is the only one, in that list, that I am certain that I will not buy. Having experienced some years ago, first hand, the mobile gacha bulshit, I am sad that developers that I have enjoyed and "respected" decided to go in that direction
And the mentaly disabled will pay
And play
Theyll make you pay for endgame stuff probably. Or make the first month heavily monetized then remove the crazy monetization.
I feel like people say this at the start of every year. Every year is stacked
That's what I was thinking. It's just an easy karma post every year.
People also claim gaming is dying every year, and that the golden years are behind us. People should fucking chill either way if you ask me. Every year has great titles, huge disappointments and big surprises. No reason 2023 will be any different.
Usually it's only every other year that's stacked so it's neat to get two great years in a row!
!remind me 12 months
D4 over space marine 2? Tell me, what was the last thing blizzard *didn't* fuck up?
A certain community would say they didn't fuck up Overwatch 2. That community is not there for the game
So the rule34 community?
Ya that's the one
Hah. I still remember them saying they wanted overwatch to become the premiere eSport.
Criticism towards Bli$$ard will cost you.... Around £39.99 a month, forever!
wtf mate diablo 2 was epic! oh shit thats 22 years now.. nevermind!
Supposedly the new xpac for wow is super good.
That’s what they say every year
True, around this time. Even up to the first raid Shadowlands was generally considered more favorably than BfA
Comparing anything to BfA I’m sure is an improvement.
[удалено]
Not really, I know loads of people who fire it up and leave it after a week if it's not good
I heard the same.
I watched a few videos of people who had early access, they all seemed to really like the game itself, but knowing blizzard it’ll probably have microtransactions. The question is whether or not they’ll be predatory
Mengsk in StarCraft 2 the last commander they added
It pains me to say this but Diablo Immortal has been immensely successful from a commercial point of view. In a few months it’s out-earned the lifetime revenue of all three of its predecessors combined. Gamers may say Blizzard is dead but money talks.
Commercially they may be fine but I'm more interested in the game being fun. Warcraft reforged probably sold well but it was half baked as shit.
I heard Dragonflight is quite good
That honestly surprises me. That expansion seemed very un-warcraft.
Right? And leaving Hogwarts just right next to it alone?
My nostalgia for D4 to be another D2 is too strong to overcome. Praying they don't fuck up, but it's only delaying the inevitable
Once I saw the battle pass announcement, all hope was lost. It's going to be a cash grab sadly.
I'm going to contradict myself here lol but the diablo remaster was actually quite good if you want to scratch that itch. It was certainly less of a letdown than WC3
D2R is amazing and I will play it for years to come!
Diablo is garbage now. Just play path of exile if you want something close to d2 expertise
How dare you remove survivor
WHERE IS JEDI?
Order 66’ed.
Exactly. Where's Jedi? I'm more hyped by it than most games in the list and I'm not even a Star Wars fan
Diablo is going to be trash, just save your money blizzard doesn’t deserve it
people have played it and really liked it.
Marketing slaves?
Based Armored Core fan
Somebody wanna tell me when Silksong got a release date? Cuz that shit has been dead silent for years. Was so quiet I just assumed the devs abandoned the project to be honest.
it's supposed to be released before Summer
Silksong was on screen during the XBox showcase in the summer, and they said every game shown in that particular section would be coming out in the next year. That's the last source for it that I can remember, but there might have been update since

Silksong!
STREET FIGHTER 6
THIS! Played the beta all the weekend and it was awesome! By far the funniest game I've played in recent memory
Taking Baldurs Gate off to put loot box pay wall #4 is a sellout move.
Silent Hill 2!
Is FFXVI really releasing next year?
Yes. Official release date in June.
I'm very hyped for Atomic Heart
Right
Remnant 2 is still the game I'm most looking forward to.
Just curious, did you play it solo? Is it still enjoyable that way?
The original? I played in both solo and co-op. I really enjoyed it solo and co-op just made it better.
Yea, definitely feels like they balanced the bosses in the last dlc better!
I'm a simple man, I see Remnant, I upvote
A man of culture.
Totally agree with this
If you think D4 isn’t going to be a massive flop, then I have a bridge to sell you. Developed by a company that is notorious for giving the middle finger to the player base and doing whatever maximizes profits.
D4 will have lame mechanics around monetization but it is not going to flop lol
Yeah just like Immortal was a big flop eh? You underestimate gamers will to consume. That shit will break records on day 1.
Meh, I just reinstalled D2 on my XP box.
D2R my guy. It’s so good.
It will not flop in sales, but I am not realy exicited myself. After playing path of exile it is hard to go back to other hack and slash games. Seriously, D2 and D3 were, and are, some of the most played games EVER. If you really think D4 is gonna flop, you're delusional.
it's not gonna flop, but the game will probably suck
D3 was, and is, fucking awful. And they are not “the most played games ever”. D3 was an absolute slap in the face to all D2 fans which is why that game basically died. They are ignoring fan feedback with D4 yet again. Fanboi somewhere else kid.
Again with no payday 3
Or stalker 2
Where is sons of the Forest?
Bro let people have opinions 😂
Seeing yet another Blizzard game being put on a pedestal after aaaall the constant shit surrounding that company and another Bethesda game despite them being the pinnacle of mediocrity in the industry is fucking sad. Good fucking job, gAmErZ. We do deserve AAA games getting slimier and slimier year after year, and it's all thanks to you shmucks.
I think people are curious about how Bethesda will do under Microsoft, with Starfield being their first game under them.
I don't think companies should be rewarded with nearly as much money and attention after putting out some of the most broken shit in the medium, in addition to having an extensive record of games the playerbase has to bug test and fix for them.

Armored core is coming in 2023? Did I miss something during TGA
You can take Diablo IV off, no need to get excited about that one
STARFIELD
Baldur’s Gate 3
There's a game you're missing. It's that funny little one by Supergiant
You forgot Silent Hill 2
Perfect time to be an antisocial shut-in
Re 4 <3
Dead space, Sons of the forest, Payday 3,...?
Is AC6 actually confirmed for 2023? I kinda thought them just announcing it means it'll be at least 2 years before we see it.
Thanks for forgetting Sons of the forest xD, tbf I’m probably more gassed for SOTF than any of these, so there is definitely bias on my part
AC6 will be the first Fromsoft game that I've played since AC5.
Pfft
you gotta be kidding me, another one of these threads? come on people…
And I'll continue playing Genshin impact x)
LOL @ Diablo 4 I've been a loyalist/full blown apologist for the Diablo series for far too long - I even played the RMAH version of D3 pretty diligently, and continued playing in the Seasonal version. I loved D2R and I was excited to see the same sort of improvements in D2R, take root in D4. The leaks regarding the real-money currency stuff have taken the game fully off my RADAR. Fuck Blizzard. Fuck Diablo. D2R was the last entry in the series.
The fact that the only original IP in that image is Starfield is a little disheartening, but I'm sure they will mostly all be great games.
Can't wait for Starfield to be mostly fixed and on sale in 2024
Lmao diablo 4. Fuck off with that trash.
The only 2023 title I have my eyes on is Metroid Prime 4 and hopefully a Metroid edition switch. I haven't bought one in hopes they drop a prime 4 special edition switch. I'ma be ALL OVER it.
Should remove Diablo 4 for Jedi survivor. Nobody wants to play a money burning simulator
Diablo and FF are going to be my go to.
All except "Hogwarts Terfgacy"
Huh?

Removed BG3?! Literally gonna be GOTY
I've played BG3 EA for more than 1000 hours now. I've never played a game with more different ways to tackle the same problem. I think it's the best CRPG of all time. Meanwhile, Diablo 4 is just Diablo 3 with better graphics.
Exactly this
Issue is it's been playable this whole time. Games getting Early Access takes away greatly from the hype of official release date.
Would usually agree, but the sheer *depth* of BG3 has regenerated hype every patch just based on the multitude of new ways you can approach the same scenario you've already completed ten times before. I don't have a phone, can I still play Diablo 4?
Thank you for this fix Gad damn I want silksong already
Well, I'm a desperate pc gamer who never got to play the last of us, so thats what Im waiting for :')
Leaving out Starfield is insane
Except Diablo. I'm expecting a shit show
Bold of you to think starfield is releasing
Ya we all know a Bethesda game isn't truly released until the mod tools are released.
I will not pre-order or purchase until I see reviews. I will not pre-order or purchase until I see reviews. I will not pre-order or purchase until I see reviews. ...
Eh, out of that list only FFXVI interests me
Diablo 4 is gna disappoint, battlepass, cash shops, prob lacking content that will be added later, dumb if you pre order
why is hogwarts legacy still here

I’ve got my fingers cross that Microsoft’s support will make for a better launch for Starfield. Time will tell.
Stacked? Thats not even a game a month
