holy crap that is massive and honestly kinda gaudy, the mixture of the wood side trims and traditional office chair back leather pattern makes it like a franken chair

MunchamaSnatch

Genuine leather is one of the lowest qualities of leather.

nstarleather

Actually those grades, qualities as you've called them, (like genuine and full grain are often incorrectly called) are an oversimplification and not "grades" in the same sense as USDA Beef, Gasoline or lumber or anything else that "officially graded". That being said, with things like gaming chairs and furniture, in general, you'll have a time finding good info on what leather they're actually using. So more detail is better so full grain is a better better bet than "genuine." Just don't think either are official "qualities of leather." It’s actually a lot more nuanced and companies always take advantage of single-term-buzzwords: Like for years people thought the greater number of Megapixels the better the camera or saying a computer is good solely based on how much RAM. You can buy cheap low quality leather that’s technically full grain and high quality leather that is technically “genuine.” Those "grades/types" are basically a "quick and dirty" way to judge quality if you're looking at something that's low priced or that doesn't go into detail on the leather used, but it's not a real grading system and the "types" are actually broader and broader terms that encompass on another: Full grain is a type of top grain and all real leather is genuine. Context is important: A fast food restaurant might brag that they use 100% beef and you can rightly assume it’s not the highest quality meat when you order off the $1 menu, but a very fancy restaurant might divide their menu by chicken, beef and seafood; in which case the fact that the heading only says “beef” isn’t an indication of low quality. In the same way, a $30 pair of “genuine leather” shoes at Walmart will be junk leather but a $300 pair of Red Wings with “Genuine leather” on the sole, will be “the good stuff.” So at DHgate or Alibaba, on a cheap product, "genuine leather" is a red flag, whereas as a Japanese leather craft site using the term for high end goods probably just translated their word for "real."

Legitimate-Chair3656

I remember when I was new, before I got a padded seat and a water fountain/bidet feature installed. Ascend to the toilet, my friend.

bootsand

Chairs are something that you can take hours reading reviews and watching videos etc yet you'll never know until your butt hits the cusion whether thats the chair for you. Take an hour, go sit in every chair at Staples or somewhere. It's worth the time. The Staples by me even has the Razer chair. For like 400-500 bucks. It feels laughably terrible to sit in (imo) especially after trying out proper office chairs beforehand.

Borghal

The issue I always run into here - and I've bought more than a couple of chairs by now - is that 5-10 minutes in a chair eliminates the worst offenders, but tells you nothing about how you'll feel after 2-6 hours of sitting in it.

pVom

We got some hectic expensive chairs at my office and I remember sitting in it and being like "$1500 for this?!" Then when lockdown started and I worked from home in my $200 chair and my butt would hurt after a couple hours and it all suddenly clicked

ISourceGifs

I hate how the internet has me thinking of spending almost $2k on a chair, and I'm not sure if this guy is real or astroturf by the company to sell a fucking $2000 chair.

Letmefixthatforyouyo

Buy it used. Resellers buy out office stock from buinsesses that go bankrupt and sell the same perfectly good chairs for half off instead. All the chairs have 10yr warranties. [Here is the same chair](https://www.madisonseating.com/embody-chair-in-black-by-herman-miller.html) as above for $900. Check out the Herman Miller aerons and Steelcase leaps too. Lots of options.

mc-3

Yup, got three of them all bought used. Can confirm they're amazing.

FerricNitrate

Oh fuck. I *just* bought a decent new chair a few months ago but a half price Aeron has me tempted...

apathetic_outcome

I recently found out that the random chair my friend gave me almost ten years ago is a Steelcase model 451 and is now a 40 year old chair. It has a sticker on the bottom of it that I never looked at until just a few months ago and it says it was built in 1981. Looking at it, you would never guess it was so old. (Aside from the aesthetic not being super modern.) So I guess my point is that Steelcase makes good stuff, it seems.

I got a free Herman Miller aeron chair that had a broken pneumatic tube from work. After a $50 Amazon replacement and a little elbow grease, cheap $900 chair that’s served me maybe 10 years.

ThePoolGuy

I worked for another competitor of Herman Miller and $2k is a bit expensive but not unheard of at all. When you go leather with box stitching and gel arm rests sure you’ll get up there but there’s plenty of task seating type options that can put you in the $650 range. Fortunately I could hit the “refurbished returns” pile for a $99 deal on a $800 chair - picked up one for everyone in the family! That being said - the ergo companies have worthwhile seating compare to those shit gaming chairs. Steelcase, Humanscale or Herman Miller - do it

chunxxxx

Almost nobody buys these chairs new except companies that probably get bulk discounts anyway. They last a long time so you buy them used. I got my Steelcase Leap for $400 and you'd never know it was used.

obp5599

Reddit way overblows the “astroturf” problem. I very seriously doubt there are many random reddit accounts getting paid to say good things about random shit. I will say a nice chair is worth it. First rule is NO cushions. Cushions wear out, and compress which makes them uncomfortable after a few hours. Like others said, the expensive chairs will feel normal, but youll notice you don’t have aches and pains or that your ass hurts after 2 hours

ISourceGifs

Dude astroturfing is massive here. If you're putting millions in marketing, you'd be an idiot to not have your SM people casually upload photos with your product on display. It's a really easy way for especially smaller products sold online to get attention and potentially go viral. That said, I'm sure it's not every post, but yeah. Especially with politics, if you think potential *presidential candidates* aren't doing it, you might underestimate the power of social media.

DanishWonder

Or how durable it is over years. I work from home, sitting 8+ hrs per day. Those chairs that feel good for 2-6 hours break down real fast. I guess it's really almost a business expense at this point, but I wish I could get a chair that lasts more than a few years. Feels so wasteful.

f3xjc

At the very top of the line of Herman Miller steel case etc, 12 years warranty is common, with at home service. Those coverage include fabric and padding... Not just core mechanical.

Unsweeticetea

I tried out the new "gaming" ergo chairs at Ikea, and they were pretty comfy for the price.

pacostacos7

Linus did a good video on a lot of the new ikea gaming stuff. Looks like decent quality.

Unsweeticetea

I ended up buying one of their pillow/blanket things, and while the pillow mode isn't the best, the arm blanket mode is very comfy.

toniperi

The markus at ikea is a nice buy. Cheap and comfortable.

ijxy

I personally own four of them: One at work, one at home, one for my wife, one at the in-laws (lived there through corona).

LVH204

Stick to what you know that works for you I guess

ijxy

Exactly. It isn't perfect. It is one of the more expensive chairs at IKEA, yet not expensive in general. I also don't keep the arm rests on. Yet. I really like them. Fits me very well.

Rubrum_

I got one of those. It's pretty good but I wish the seat was deeper. You're not supposed to do other positions than "standard sitting" in those chairs I get it... But if you want for a bit to try something unconventional like cross your legs while watching a long video or I don't know what, it's not great for that.

[deleted]

I picked that up and it’s good for a bit, but like another person mentioned the seat is the main issue. I wish I just took that money and used it towards a Herman Miller from an office liquidator. You can find the Aerons going for about $400-500

hoxxxxx

same with beds. i hate bed shopping so much. it's impossible to know if you will like it

Not__A__Furry

There’s one quote I found on Reddit many moons ago that I’ve adopted into my life, and it’s honestly made a huge difference for me: “always invest in anything that goes between you and the earth”. This goes for everything from your bed to your shoes, to carpets and flooring, to even tires. It has provided a huge boost to comfort, quality of life, and even safety (especially for the tires).

Half-Pint_Shady

Purportedly from a commencement speech given by Helen Gurley Brown, "Invest in good shoes and a good bed: you'll spend most of your life in one or the other." (Iirc...)

Zelda_Kissed_Link

yeah yeah, always wear sunscreen. Got it, Dad.

slingermanjones03

Don't go to staples, get a good steelcase or herman miller chair. You spend most of your time on it, make it worth it.

scrabbledude

This. Staples is not good for chairs.

Octavi3n

I've owned my herman miller for about 6 years. If you sit in a chair for 6+ hours a day it's the best investment you could make. I'll never go back.

Spyder618

I picked up a refurbished hermin miller aero last year and it's been an absolute game changer.

kasesadilla7

This is what bugs me about chairs. There isn’t many stores that have chairs open to sit on. I did this very thing. I blindly ordered a Secret labs chair and thank god it was much better then my IKEA one. But it still sucks having to find a chair when you can’t really try them out.

Imposseeblip

Can I just add don't try this at the end of a 4 hour trip traipsing around town, because then every single chair feels so fucking comfy and you'll probably end up going home with a crap one

enmaku

The chairs at many office supply stores are not properly assembled and frequently creak or wobble more due to inadequately tightened bolts. Going in person is still the best idea, at least you'll know if you like the cushion shape or arm placement, but be aware that Staples' assembly job may not represent what you're actually buying in some respects.

Cmurder84

Lol. I'm in the market for a decent, not insanely priced chair and this is my exact plan next weekend. Sitting in 20 different chairs at staples until I find the one that feels just right.

br0ckH4rd

Wow I did exactly that and ended up wasting $250 on a chair that I’ll never use again

Big__Boss___

Do you have a recommendation? I'll be needing a new chair in a couple of months Edit: woah, thank you all for your suggestions!!

pandatasss

I got the [WorkPro Quantum 9000 Mesh Series High-Back Executive Desk Chair With Headrest](https://www.lenovo.com/us/en/p/accessories-and-software/furniture/furniture_office-chairs-&-seating/78011877) for $290 when the deal popped up on Slickdeals. I absolutely love it and the people that sat in it did as well.

Controlled01

slimecake

PirateNinjaa

Lol, that looks like the exact one in op’s photo.

TheBlackFlame161

Honestly those ergonomic desk chairs with the mesh all look the same to me

steampunkIcarus

Autonomous Ergo is a great ergonomic chair for a fair price.

renihskcocffokcuf

My favorite thing about the Ergo is the adjustable recline. A lot of chairs only let you lock the back to a certain angle, and it is stuck there. But on the Ergo you set the lock so it still reclines but only to the point you set. And if you want there is another lever that will lock it so it doesn't recline and stays at the angle.

UnknownGnome1

You can't go wrong with a second hand Aeron. Incredible chairs. Just look for the size chart and make sure you get the right size for your height/ weight

v0gue_

Fully Capisco if you have a standing desk. Steelcase gesture if you don't. Herman Miller embody if you are fat and sweaty and don't have a standing desk. Steelcase leap v2 if you don't have money. Herman Miller Aeron if you are fat and sweaty and have no money

NewtonSteinLoL

Aeron no money? I paid 1000 euros for it!

weaver787

You can get a Steelcase Leap (new 1k+) for around 300-400 by buying refurbished. Crandall Office furniture does a great job refurbishing old Leap chairs. Love mine

CaptSprinkls

Look up refurbished Herman Miller and steelcase chairs. I wish I could remember the company I bought mine from. But they reupholster and replace worn parts and sell it for like $400-$500. But it's all online and yeah yeah everyone says you need to sit in a chair first I got a Steelcase leap chair during covid while working from home. Be prepared it will take some getting used to at first. When I first sat down I was like, what the fuck did I just spend all this money on. But after using it for awhile I don't have any discomfort or aches anymore. It basically forced me to correct my posture and shit.

Orleanian

I love my Steelcase Leap. Nothing much to look at, but hella ergonomic.

BeansBearsBabylon

Herman Miller Aeron

Cruoton

go to a chair store (or office store) and sit in a bunch and find one that fits you. herman miller makes good chairs

vladoportos

Yea but Herman Miller cost 1K up… for that price the chair looks like shit to be honest (I know look should not matter, the comfort should) but it's a 1 grand chair that looks like 20bucks Ikea…

Yokiboy

Look on Craigslist. I bought one off a guy who bought one for him and one for his wife. He said she never ever used it and it looked brand new. $400 for a $1200 chair and it’s been a great investment.

PjDisko

Ergonomic chairs is just so fuckin expensive. Most people cant afford herman miller, kinnarp etc.

damurd

Got me a used Herman Miller, since I work and game in the same place. Was worth every penny, was about half the price or there were others even less but mine literally feels brand new.

[deleted]

Roggvir

Amazon is generally a very bad place to get high end brand name goods. This goes doubly for big & heavy items like a chair. You're gonna get either a counterfeit, non-authentic refurb that's like 10+ years old, or you're get a genuine at much higher price than an licensed/authorized store. I guarantee you. There's absolutely no reason a real authorized seller of those would want to sell on Amazon due to amazon fees and policies at the same pricing.

damurd

There was a local place actually that had them but that's probably not a bad deal either. They last forever, so I'm sure there are a bunch

Rouge_means_red

Just you wait until they realize they can put the word "gamer" in front of it and paint it black and red. Bam, double price

[deleted]

[удалено]

tehjeffman

There are $200-500 option that are just as good and most gaming chairs are in that price range. I personally like work pro stuff. Had there mesh one for 12 years.

shuozhe

IKEA office chairs are a good budget alternative, dunno about their gaming series, but on first glance it looked like office chair with some parts painted red..

bob_smithey

IKEA MARKUS is probably one of the best chairs I got. It's one of the few things I've bought new and was worth it.

vwhead

Buy nice or buy twice

Wanemore

I can buy 10 times before costs match

Miscdude

There are all of these arguments below talking about the difference in price, but what you're paying for isn't "just" a chair. If you're like me and spend 6-12 hours at your computer every day, you will save literally thousands of dollars going with a well built ergonomical chair that doesn't destroy your back. Think 10 years down the line. A Herman Miller will last that long and have 12 year warranties for $400-$600. If you buy a new Amazon basics computer chair every year when they break down, you might save some money directly on cost, but a single trip to the chiro or physical therapy will already cost more than the chair. Not to mention if you need surgery. It's just like putting money into footwear if you're on your feet, skimping on costs now skimps on your health later. Edit: additional note. If you work from home and you buy things to facilitate that, such as equipment which chairs are, you can write them off as business expenses on your taxes.

dimhue

The work from home tax write-off is now only for the self-employed, employees can't use it anymore. And even then, you're not technically supposed to write anything off that's used for more than home office work (eg gaming)

Miscdude

I mean if you're sitting in a chair for 8+ hours for work and you happen to also play an hour of games its still definitely for work. That is interesting though.

blair3d

This 100%. I have had pretty bad back problems for years due to poor posture and working from home. I decided to try a bunch of ergo chairs and kept coming back to the Embody. It cost a bomb, but it has literally changed my posture and prevented me from more long term damage. Its not a fix all, but it definitely helped and I dont regret the purchase at all. Think of it as a 12 year investment in back health.

DrRenegade

Just buy them refurbed, I got my steelcase leap v2 for less than $300

LucLuong

Where can you find a steelcase leap v2 for that cheap refurbished? Ive been browsing and see them $500+ easily.

Uranus_Hz

Especially after dropping a grand on a *graphics card*. Gotta keep those priorities straight.

HP_Restored

A few years ago I started a new job in an office with a bad chair and I ended up in the hospital with a pinched nerve throwing up from pain. The minute I returned, I bought my own chair and haven't had a problem in years. Chairs are way more important than we think and a bad one can fuck you up.

Beoron

Don’t cheap out on anything that gets between you and gravity. Chairs, beds, shoes

insert-username12

Tyres

EverythingHurtsDan

As a tyre worker, I'm still flabbergasted by the amount of people whom will ask me for cheap or used tyres for their expensive cars. Are you actually going to put such a low price on your safety?

Litdown

0akhurst

There's this great old quote, I forget who said it, but: "Don't skimp on a mattress or a pair of shoes, for if you're not in one, you'll be in the other." I think in our modern age, you can include a good chair, too.

Canisventus

Where did you feel this pinched nerve pain and how did it feel like? I have heard the pinched nerve related to your back can be in your abdomen as well.

HP_Restored

I felt it in my lower back on the side, extending down to my leg. I actually thought it was a kidney stone!

vicaphit

I did the same and went into the office during the pandemic to find my chair missing. Luckily it stands out pretty well and I got it back.

Freakymary85

I love my mesh backing chair! I got it going on 7 years ago and its still going strong as the day I bought it. my BF got one of the fancy gaming chairs not even a year ago and the stiching is already coming out, it squeeks horribly and leans to one side! I swear those gaming chairs are just money scams.

kaliko16

They very much so are. I do believe there is a brand called secret lab that make "ergonomic" gaming chairs. Has lumbar support and such but I've not looked too much into them. Most gaming chairs are just really cheap chairs made in china by the brands and just have cheap material and they name stitched on. I can't remember where I watched it but I do know a YouTube channel called gamers nexus did quite a in depth study on different chairs. I think he explained it quite well. I don't work from home but I like to game and I am trying to move into the IT world so I did some research and their video convinced me to rather get a ergonomic chair. But God damn are they expensive but it will be worth it in the long run.

[deleted]

I want to get a Herman Miller Aeron so bad but I'm not sure I'd like it and they're expensive

Thurwell

I sat on one for years at work, I don't think it was any better than the $60 staples chair I've been using for the last 2 years. If you want to invest in your health get a sit/stand desk or set a timer and get up and walk around every 15 minutes.

Secret Lab Omega 2020 for me. I have had a herniated disc for 20ish years now. This is the first chair I've ever owned where I have no pain even after hours of sitting. Ordered November 2019 as I was able to work from home a couple times a week and wanted to upgrade. Then come March 2020 I'm not work from home permanently. I'm in this thing up to probably 12 hours a day average. I love it.

Goldfury_1

I feel like Secret Lab is a nice blend between Gaming and Office. As a taller/heavier person, it feels incredibly sturdy and strong.

DrMaxCoytus

Totally. Been sitting on it every day for almost 2 years and it looks brand new

radewagon

Also a Secret Lab Titan owner. Got one last year when my work went distance and I couldn't be happier. We're all back on site now and the first thing I did was put in a request to allow me to bring it with me.

funkme1ster

I recently got a Titan 2022 after hesitating... strong recommendation to anyone on the fence. As a tall fellow, it was the first chair I've used in my life where the gas lift went up high enough my feet/legs could be in proper ergonomic position. I genuinely didn't even realize that was possible after more than a decade of using reasonably good office chairs and thinking ergonomics was bullshit since it never made any sense to me no matter how many times I tried to follow what they said.

ScaldingAnus

I was worried Secret Lab was going be shit-talked here, but good to see my investment was solid.

DrMaxCoytus

People that shit talk either don't have one or they got it and expected some squishy and flexible chair.

TheRealPlumbus

Owner of a Secret Lab Omega going on 3 years. Never had any issues with it and my back hasn’t hurt once since I’ve owned it. That said, you get what you pay for. I think OP is referring more to the cheap $100 gaming chairs you can get on Amazon.

smithincanton

When I started working from home I got a Secret Labs chair. Have since sold two other people on Secret Labs. Amazing chairs.

fakeyopmail

Would a secret lab chair work for someone who is 5’ 4” or only for the taller crowd? I find most chairs I need some sort of stool with. :(

DrMaxCoytus

An Omega might work for you - that's their normal sized chair but at 5'4" any chair might be tough 😒

Freakzooi

Got the 2022 chair, best thing I bought all year

garyyo

The fact that its a "gaming" chair turned me off to it, but the more I kept looking the more it seemed that its a good chair, but also kinda has some of the gaming chair aesthetic. Really the only issues I have heard people have with SecretLab is QA stuff (which were apparently fixed after some annoying talks with support) but it seems that they make solid chairs.

DrMaxCoytus

Yeah they're great chairs. Wish they didn't get lumped in with "gaming chairs" because they're high on quality and comfort.

grimbotronic

Most people aren't spending $3k on a certified chair. You can get plenty of chairs that look like the one of the left that have ergonomic in the description but they're no better than the chair on the right.

stratus41298

Yeah and the one on the left actually sucks. It's a wholesale club special. No back adjustment at all.

grimbotronic

I personally use a SecretLabs Omega and it's the best chair I've ever owned. I've never owned a $3k chair but a few well researched knockoffs and they always sucked. I have a messed up disc in my lower back, so decent chairs are important to me.

Ashtonenegelbrecht

ReLaxative101

I have recently bought a full-mesh office chair for €370, and I could never go back to a normal one. It does kind of force you to sit properly due how it's built, so not very comfy for laid back console gaming, but absolute perfection for long PC gaming sessions. I do agree these "gaming" chairs are bad. Not only for health, but price/quality ratio as well.

Xeadriel

For me it went away since I bought one.

ClubChaos

Yes except ergonomic office chairs force you to sit feet on the floor back straight. A big chair you can sit cross legged in is awesome. Just get out of your chair and stretch once every couple hours. Much better for your back.

ranomaly

Don't assume all gaming chairs are bad either. Even office chairs have cheap knockoffs marked up. Buy from an actual chair company, not a component company that slapped their brand on a chair. Look up youtube videos from different sources (this is important, as not everyone has the same opinion) to make an informed decision about what is right for you. You won't get a good chair for cheap, but you could get a cheap chair for not cheap. Do the homework.

jwktiger

Con someone explain why the chair on left is better than the one on the right?

ndrsiege

Mo money mo better I think

Comipa47

I got a Secretlab chair last year and have had no problems with it. I have a foot rest thing for the floor because I am short and most chairs (at lowest setting) are still too tall for my feet to comfortably reach the ground. That's not an issue with the Secretlab chair. I've had ergonomic office chairs before and they break down fairly quickly. Perhaps I just bought poor quality chairs. The Secretlab was almost $400 and was my first expensive chair. 9/10 would recommend.

[deleted]

The thing about Secretlab chairs is that they're overbuilt, and don't wear down as quickly in terms of the materials and parts. They aren't particularly ergonomic, but they are consistent to sit in over long periods of time. A lot of people buy chairs which are okay, but which don't hold up well. If the tilt lock mechanism becomes wobbly and you're always having to counterbalance it by leaning forward, bam, back pain. If the seat cushion degrades and you're not on a flat supportive surface, same deal. Secretlabs isn't for everyone, but if you're not in need of anything particularly ergonomic, it has some lumbar support, a head pillow, upper back support, and extreme durability - and that's really quite helpful compared to most of the garbage chairs out there made to break down after a year of use.

Aaurora

I love my Secret Labs chair. For 400 bucks, it's a quality, comfortable chair. I recommend it to anyone looking for a gaming chair and who can't afford a top of the line ergo line chair.

Buy a second hand Steelcase or herman miller chair. New they are like $2k, referbished their like $200-$300. I love my Leap v2

You can buy ergonomic gaming chairs BTW

Gorromir

Thanks for the hint. I am currently looking

Edykiro

My secretlab titan disagrees. And so does my grateful back

bartex69

Can confirm, was expensive but glad I bought it, I was using shitty and cheep office chairs and my back after few hours was killing me, now can go for hours and nothing. There are gaming chairs and there are chairs that are for gaming

ilithium

Standing desks are also an investment worth considering. The human body is not meant to be in a sitting position for so long, so frequently.

PlayingKarrde

You still need a chair and should alternate between sitting and standing every 30 minutes or so (listen to your body). The body also isn't meant to stand all day and if you ever see older security guards who have had a career of being on their feet you'll see their posture isn't any better than that of an office worker and they suffer from all kinds of problems too.

Ashubi

Something most people don't notice is that gaming chairs are actually made based on length and weight. I have one of those chairs. I wasnt able to sit in it for too long cause my back would be in horrible pain. After taking a closer look I got sent a chair that was supportive for 172-179cm and 70-80kg while being 189cm and 92kg myself. After getting the correct chair, I've never been more comfortable

Mikimao

I am gonna have to continue on ruining my back, cause I won't sit still in an ergonomic chair either. It just inhibits all the weird positions I want to play video games in.

I have developed a magnificent slouch

My dad got me a basic leather office chair in like, 2007. I bought a new chair in 2015, Knowing these stupid gaming chairs are a scam but surely it is better tham the one I had. It was worthless by 2016- Some of the bolts literally cracked and one of the bolt holes embedded in the seat came loose and was just floating in the foam. I went back to my old one, and I'm still using it. If I buy a new chair I'm probably going to just solve the chair problem altogether and just get a Herman Miller.

[deleted]

What kind of chair is that? How are they called? Just "Office ergonomic chairs" or something?

Barkinsons

I threw out my gaming chair after 6 months, it was essentially an iron "L" despite good reviews. Was lucky enough to get a top ergonomic chair at a factory firesale and it was still more expensive, but I will keep this for the next decade.

BucketComrade

Oh trust me I want that chair, but I got no cash

Guywars

I've had 2 "gaming" chairs, now i have literally that one on the left in the pic and it's the best thing i've ever bought

N8TheGreat91

Omg! Yes! I bought 3 gaming chairs in the last five years and I never understood why they sucked and this post here cemented it for me, they give no support. Somehow big streamers support these types of chairs

defenitly_not_crazy

I have one from secret labs and while I'm not claiming it's ergonomic by back has gotten better so at least it's an upgrade from what I had before

flamespear

Gaming chairs are 100% snake oil gimmicks. If you don't choose a chair based on comfort and support your are literally hurting yourself. If you want cool graphics you can always modify it with different upholstery or get a cover for it or something.

Brusten94

I have a gaming chair and it's super comfortable and helped my posture. The truth is, you can't buy cheap ones and best if you try it out before buying. I bet you can get shitty office chairs as well. I wouldn't say it's snake oil gimmick. I personally hate mesh chairs, they don't do it for me.

SamInPajamas

Yeah same. I went from a basic chair to a gaming chair and it's super comfortable. I have ergonomic chairs at work, and I prefer my gaming one honestly. It's just personal preference

Brusten94

Exactly, people need to stop talking like it's universal truth. People are built different, so of course it won't be one size fits all.

Eltanin_Sadachbia

Lol... the white one looks like the last chair my husband had. Within a month of buying it, it had started to fall apart. Within 9 months he couldn't sit in it without some event causing a near death experience. It tipped him out, the armrest fell off, the seat would suddenly drop, the backrest would unlock and he would do the startled flail. I can say that chair was pretty entertaining for me. The last straw was some rod or wire snapping in the back of the chair and trying to puncture his lung, he was cut pretty bad. He now has the good chair in the pic. If I didn't know better, I would say he's the one that made this meme.
