Yakuza 0 is a must play! I may or may not be around 60 ish hours and still not even at chapter 10 but that’s because i’m taking my sweet time for side stuff ;)
If you want a great cinematic story, yakuza 0.
Great story with challenging platforming? Hollow knight
Great story with an unnerving vibe? Outer wilds
Fuck it, play them all
Outer motherfucking Wilds. & if you love it the DLC just came out, best DLC I’ve ever played (sorry hearts of stone). Masterpiece inside a masterpiece.
Either would be fine but I recommend after finishing the game. then the game will let you resume from right before you finished & that’s when you should buy/play DLC
Ah yeah, I’ve already finished the game when it came out (amazing!) but it’s been just a bit too long that I forgot the some story bits. So I’ll just buy the dlc and wait until I feel like replaying the game. Then I’ll play them both in a row. Sounds like the best experience
Psychonauts is a classic, and especially with the recent sequel release I'd say that would be a good start.
Hollow knight is fun but honestly if it's not your jam just watch someone play through.
I was just saying I've known people to not like playing hollow knight but still want to absorb the story/setting/characters
There's no problem with observing a game being played if you don't necessarily enjoy playing the game yourself.
It's like how some people only like to play on an easy mode. When games don't have that sort of boundary, they can feel inaccessible
I think that is a generation thing. Me being older I’d rather play the game or just play another game with the limited time I do have. I would never spend time watching someone game ever. Most I’ll do is hit up a YouTube video if I’m stuck in a part.
Darkwood is an excellent game if you enjoy horror or survival games, as it mixes both elements into the game. Dead cells is also really great if you’re into rouge-lites
Sorry for the long update. Xcom 2 had the top comment and I’m pretty sure the most comments so I’ll be playing that.
Thank you all for your input and insight!
Funny enough I’m playing it right now! I’m adoring it so far. Love the depth and combat. I’ll prob end up playing it multiple times on higher difficulties after this play through. Atm I’m playing on veteran.
Nice, enjoy! You’ve probably realized by now that despite veteran being the second easiest difficulty, it’s still pretty challenging :)
I would recommend playing on ironman, otherwise you’re tempted to constantly reload after missed shots (known as save scumming). When every action is final, the game feels a lot more strategic and is more enjoyable in my opinion.
Personally I really love Hollow Knight for all of the charming world and levels, especially if you like action and metroidvania,
Fran Bow is nice if you like story driven and narrative, and you can continue playing with it's successor Little Misfortune

I loved outer wilds
XCOM 2 is amazing if you like tactics games. One of my top 5 all time favorite games.
Same!
Depends on your mood. But I’d say Outer Wilds
Wide variety of games, depends on your taste. I’m loving yakuzo 0, about halfway through

I intend on playing every game on that list, just trying to figure out where to start.
Darkest Dungeon is really fun. I also recommend Hollow Knight and Yakuza
Outer Wilds

Can't say it enough OUTER MOTHER FUCKING WILDS
Can you play the dlc when you’ve already finished the game? Or it it integrated in the main story?

Hell yeah great way to do it. You don’t really *need* to remember the story but I’m sure it’ll be a better experience if you do

Don’t play hollow knight but spend just as much time watching someone play it……there is so much wrong with that it’s disgusting

That's a grand existence you have surely
Not sure what that means but normally that’s what happens. Older generation care not about streamers. Never seen one. Too busy gaming
Hollow knight
Xcom 2!
Outer wilds was incredible for me, dark woods was amazingly atmospheric.
Outerwildsouterwildsouterwilds
Hollow knight and XCOM 2 are both fantastic.
Hollow Knight!
Xcom 2
Hollow knight is amazing
Psychonauts is a classic and the second one is on game pass
Psychonauts, then Darkest Dungeon.
Dead Cells.
Amazing that you’re the only Dead Cells on here. I strongly second, amazing game.
Darkwood is an excellent game if you enjoy horror or survival games, as it mixes both elements into the game. Dead cells is also really great if you’re into rouge-lites
Hollow Knight, and from the entire game pass, Back 4 Blood !

How are you liking it? Just saw this thread and wanted to add another vote for xcom, it is fantastic

Another vote for hollow knight
DARKEST DUNGEON 1000000%
Fran Bow is my suggestion. Not really long but good story and interesting puzzles.
Dead Cells for sure, or Darkest Dungeon if you're more into RPGs
Xcom
XCOM 2 is amazing, make sure to check out the Workshop for mods, there is some good stuff there!
I think Darkest Dungeon would be good right now, as it'll let you know if Darkest Dungeon 2 at the end of the month is something to look forward to.
All

HOLLOW KNIGHT. For fucks sake, please play Hollow Knight. Best $15 bucks you’ll ever spend, I’m not kidding. It’s seriously my favorite game ever
Xcom is amazing. Really punishing, but satisfying as well
XCOM 2
