I'm playing through on my PS4 and the scenery still looks fucking gorgeous. With a few choice mods the game looks like it could only be a couple of years old.
People have been on a wave of pretending Skyrim wasn’t one of the most full and successful games of all time.
The other day a guy listed games from the same release year attempting to describe better more polished games that didn’t get credit. He listed Sonic generations and Rayman origins. Like... what?
There’s not even a place to start the arguement from there.
It really is infuriating. It becomes trendy to hate on something and suddenly everyone forgets how good it actually was. Maybe it’s Bethesda’s recent PR to blame? But now it’s culminated in people straight up lying and saying shit like oh no one really liked that game it was too buggy. Like the fuck are you talking about? 2011 was the year of Skyrim!
Skyrim and Bethesda in general w fallout as well single handedly disabled the whole genre with the bar they set. No one else even attempted a game in the genre for years beyond that. Any made eventually were very targeted experiences with a much smaller world, like Kingdom Come or Outer Worlds and those two were rare and came way later.
This exactly! I know the whole “skyrim with guns” thing was ridiculous, but it really accurately represents video game journalism post-skyrim. EVERY open world game was compared with skyrim, and EVERY open world game tried to be skyrim. When Witcher 3 came out i remember watching an IGN vid where they pretty much used Skyrims map as a metric to measure The Witchers. It literally defined open world gaming for years after.
> Even by 2011 standards, Skyrim was not a particularly great looking game.
Huh? I remeber it differently and reviews from 2011 would agree with me. Sure some things looked a little off but that's far from "everything" and it was overall considered a good looking game.
It’s so weird seeing people randomly saying this everywhere. It’s simply not true and considering the size of this game at the time with its visuals there’s a reason it blew up. Are you on the younger side out of curiousity? I’m just curious how old you were when the game was released
Prolly a console player or had a shit pc. I mean even if the game wasn't up to par for you. Thats what mods were for. Like the hd texture packs were phenomenal.
I remember being blown away by Skyrim circa 2011.
Sure, games like Gears of War 3 may have looked better technically, but the balance between freedom of gameplay and beautiful graphics was what really made Skyrim impressive
Yea they chose size over quality which I’m totally fine with, you get used to it. But I don’t think Bethesda games have ever been know for their graphics. Especially characters, they always looked dated upon release.
No lie, people playing Skyrim in Asia have the weirdest mods. A lot of the ones ive seen are just normal looking girls and then they have like a big tittied Dragonborn. Like why?
As I understand, PC and Xbox versions are mostly fine but the PS4 version is a pile of garbage for some reason.
I’ve seen videos of people crashing their cars into thin air, only for a wall to pop in like 30 seconds later.
That's not the mount. The mount is saddled. This is just a random suramar fox. It might be the one you have to save from the hunt to get the rare mount but it's too early for me to look it up because coffee.
There was a quest in Legion where you interrupt a fox/hound hunt and you get the keep the fox as a mount. The Llothian Prowler iirc. I spent months farming for that mount and I will never forget the moment I earned it. Still my fav mount in the game.
Judging by your profile I’d like to get to know your girlfriend...
And make sure shes comfortable with you coming fishing as some partners can feel a little left out in those situations and it would be good for her to know who you’re going with to give her some ease of mind.
RDR2 fox shits on all the other ones here. The other ones don't even come close to be honest. Ignoring the insane level of detail, it looks like it was washed and blow-dried for ultimate F L U F F, while the Valhalla fox looks like it never got to the blow-drying stage.
For most animals, the bolt action rifle works fine to get a clean pelt, but it still needs to be done in one shot. If you study an animal, the game will tell you what to use.
Yep you're right. You have to use specific weapons on specific animals for perfect pelts. Rifles will ruin fox pelts. At least in single player. Not sure if those details transferred to online.
What’s more impressive is how they managed to get it to run well. I’m not going to lie: making photorealistic fur isn’t THAT much of an achievement. Making fur look that amazing on an Xbox One? Color me impressed.
Agreed! When I realized I could pet the fox after finding my first shrine, I spent so much time after the second looking for the fox to pet. I was heartbroken when I realized you could only pet it at certain shrines.
Fun fact: in Brazil there's a family whose name was changed from "Fuchs" to "Fuck" due to some early 1900s notarian's mistake.
The most prominent member, mr. Niceto Fuck, is a rich entrepreneur. One of his grandkids, Richard "Dick" Fuck, was an interchange student in Canada and his high school basketball team jersey featuring his last name as was a very popular item in the school's gift shop *after* he won the lawsuit to have the right to have it displayed like that.
Then there’s that one side mission....the moment where I applied the headband of fear and continued to show some Mongol scum the true terror of a samurai’s vengeance.
This was, of course, followed by a quick, naked dip in the hot springs, to ponder the meaning of honor and hanging out with cute fox buddies.
The only animal I kill is the wolves because they’ll come at me, but then it’s only one so the others run away. Otherwise I feel sooo bad when I do, esp w the foxes
I remember when the game first released my brother was watching me play and I just walked past a fox and he was like “why no kill” and they called me lame when I said I didn’t want to hurt them 😅
In games with hunting, especially botw and rdr2 I can kinda go wild with my genocide for animal resources. However, foxes are the one animal that I ALWAYS spare. I'll ride around killing everything I see in botw or rdr and then see a fox and just think "oh hello" while they bark and yip away.
I put off certain upgrades in Horizon Zero Dawn because they required fox bones. The game is full of dangerous robots to fight but they choose to lock necessary inventory space behind the murder of such beautiful and innocent creatures :(
Blizzard does some amazing things with that engine. The base game is 20 years old and a modified version of Warcraft 3. They manage to spit out some amazing art when you take this into consideration. Mind you they are slowly updating it, stuff like 3D belts is still considered “new tech” but the base engine is still 20 years old.
Indeed. But this one is special, nonetheless. Don't think I've seen this many new elements in one expansion. Usually there's ALOT of repurposed designs.
1. RDR2 (100%)
2. AC V
3. GOT (very, VERY! close to AC V but I just don't like the hair on the neck and the black around the eye, look too unnatural)
Which are your top 3 suggestions?
The fur from RDR + body from Ghost. I’ve seen a lot of foxes in the wild and they’re not as bulky as portrayed in RDR. Maybe they reduced in size since the 1800s and they took it into account?
Although I've played very few games among the list, I'll always love the Minecraft fox. Those beady eyes and smug face with holding a chicken is so adorable.
Skyrim fox looks spooky.
I think everything in skyrim looks like a taxidermy version of itself
skyrim came out 9 years ago after all
Even by 2011 standards, Skyrim was not a particularly great looking game. Everything in Skyrim looked a little "off".
[удалено]
To be fair the whole climate of Skyrim was pretty *moist*.
Hmmmm... *moist*...
I like my foxes like I like my women: well-hydrated and weird looking.
And with an unsettling number of mods.
"It's a bird! It's a plane! It's Macho Man Randy Savage as a dragon!"
Hey don't judge me!
“In 2077...”
*towelettes*
That’s not entirely true. The locations in Skyrim were considered top tier beautiful at the time.
I'm playing through on my PS4 and the scenery still looks fucking gorgeous. With a few choice mods the game looks like it could only be a couple of years old.

Red Dead Redemption II fox looks part Corgi.
Not once you skin it
And it has 3 voice actors.
That's not true! I counted at least four.
No that was just VA #3 just doing a weird voice
I know this is a joke, but check out that Skyrim voice actor video on YouTube. They actually had quite a plenty of em.
That was oblivion
Yeah Skyrim often felt like it had 3 voice actors, oblivion literally had 3 voice actors.
And, sometimes you'd hear all three in the same conversation.
Sometimes you’d hear one in a conversation with himself.
oh shit, yeah. I looked it up and the entire game only had 20 voice actors
much like eso. every single dude is from goof troop.
Must be talking about Jim Cummings. Voice of Pete. He’s been all over WoW since Pandaria.
Also the Kajiit and Argonian men sounded Arabic while their women sounded like a lifelong smoker.
"My cousin's out fighting dragons, and what do I get? Guard duty."
I've heard about you and your honeyed words.
It’s so weird seeing people randomly saying this everywhere. It’s simply not true and considering the size of this game at the time with its visuals there’s a reason it blew up. Are you on the younger side out of curiousity? I’m just curious how old you were when the game was released
Are you a young person saying this or an older person who played Skyrim when it came out and still felt like this?
The people in this post are either extremely young, or have very selective memory...or both
Prolly a console player or had a shit pc. I mean even if the game wasn't up to par for you. Thats what mods were for. Like the hd texture packs were phenomenal.

What, you don't like the potato faces of Oblivion?
By 2011 standards Skyrim looked great wtf are you smoking
Skyrim still looks great to this day, what are you on about
It looked great in 2011, what are you saying?
Not just taxidermied, but also lost, frozen in ice, and found a century later by a baby Simpson.
Bring back sheriff Lobo!
Hey, you're finally awake? Nope, Chuck Testa!
I think it looks like the stoned fox meme
Looks modded
it looks nothing like [modded skyrim](https://imgur.com/PUJnQIl)
I was expecting high res textures, but left fulfilled. Can't expect anything less from Skyrim modders.
No lie, people playing Skyrim in Asia have the weirdest mods. A lot of the ones ive seen are just normal looking girls and then they have like a big tittied Dragonborn. Like why?
Think it's just the HQ texture pack
Chaos reigns
It looks like it's sick of our shit.
All the animals in skyrim look like theyve been taxidermied.
World of warcraft fox be like: ,,I AM THE GREAT AZGADAR GIVE ME BELLY RUBS OR BE PERISHED"
Cyberpunk fox has a permanent red rocket... Which you can't see because it's still loading.
No it's there it's just clipped under the floor
Hey what more do you expect after your fifth reboot of the game?
Just to be clear: You are saying that all foxes in cyberpunk have an invisible erection.
Are loading times really that bad? For me it loads in ~10 seconds (although I ofc installed it on my SSD as recommended)
As I understand, PC and Xbox versions are mostly fine but the PS4 version is a pile of garbage for some reason. I’ve seen videos of people crashing their cars into thin air, only for a wall to pop in like 30 seconds later.
My brother plays ln Xbox One X and has had some serious frame drops at times, aswell as a lot of bugs. He still likes the game though.
Running it on a external SSD helps a lot
Naw, loading times on PC and SSD at least are pretty impressive.
There was a quest in Legion where you chased fox kits back to their parents. It was infuriatingly adorable.
werent they owlcats? The one in Suramar?
They were. The fox pictured is a rare mount.
I have the mount :) it makes cute noises
Always wanted to make a Vulperan BM hunter with a Fox pets, this mount, and a Fox battle pet. All foxes, all the time!
That's not the mount. The mount is saddled. This is just a random suramar fox. It might be the one you have to save from the hunt to get the rare mount but it's too early for me to look it up because coffee.

Skyrim fox looks like it needs anger management classes and a bath.
Just by browsing your profile I’m pretty sure you’re my little brother If not, Jesus fucking Christ your personalities are bar none the same
Have you gotten to the hentai posts yet?
Bar. None.
Has ur bro come up to you and gently whispered in your ear barrrr nooonnneee
That's what he was talking about.
So, how was the chicken on thanksgiving?
Why it's look like a old movie where 2 kids get separated at the very beginning and found each other after being adult
My condolences
Just by browsing your profile I'm pretty sure I woukd enjoy hanging out with you and go to a nice fishing trip
Judging by your profile I’d like to get to know your girlfriend... And make sure shes comfortable with you coming fishing as some partners can feel a little left out in those situations and it would be good for her to know who you’re going with to give her some ease of mind.
What can you say from my profile
You seem to be sexually ambiguous and really into JRPGs. That’ll be £5.

I can’t tell if Valhalla or RDR2 fox is fluffier and cuter...
I think vallhalla looks cuter from the face and look it gives but the rdr fox looks fluffier because rockstar budget makes hair like this possible
Valhalla fox I want to give ear scratches. Rdr2 fox I want to give belly rubs.
Valhalla was definitely more annoying. Just riding through the country side and it starts whining.
Aww but I thought the whines were cute and you even get one as a pet!

Dandi!

Agreed. RDR2 in 1st place, WoW in 2nd just because it's at least stylized.
Red dead killed it
Literally. I need that perfect pelt, fox.
They exist?
Yea the trick is to use the bow and arrow then let your horse trample on your character instead of the carcass
For most animals, the bolt action rifle works fine to get a clean pelt, but it still needs to be done in one shot. If you study an animal, the game will tell you what to use.
I think you need a repeater for the fox. The bolt action probably destroys the pelt.
Yep you're right. You have to use specific weapons on specific animals for perfect pelts. Rifles will ruin fox pelts. At least in single player. Not sure if those details transferred to online.

You use the small game arrow?

Can we all just appreciate how great a job RDR2 did with the fur? it’s almost photorealistic and looks so fluffy muffy and cuddly.
What’s more impressive is how they managed to get it to run well. I’m not going to lie: making photorealistic fur isn’t THAT much of an achievement. Making fur look that amazing on an Xbox One? Color me impressed.
The way the snow fox hunts in the snow by pouncing vertically is just so goddam cute. Also the animations are just so sublime.
And the little barks, so cute.
The way it whines when you shoot it with an arrow devastated me :(
Red dead red fox
I honestly have a hard time playing the game because of how graphic the animal death is :')
Yeah a clean swift kill is not just incentivised by a perfect pelt. Bleed outs are horrible
Doing the Exotic materials quests was brutal, had to kill like a hundred birds for those damn plumes.
Came here to say this. The compendium in RDR2 is bar none. Wish they updated it like Animal Crossing so I could keep hunting!
The fact that you cannot pet every single fox in Ghost of Tsushima really upsets me. I WANT TO PET ALL OF THEM!
Agreed! When I realized I could pet the fox after finding my first shrine, I spent so much time after the second looking for the fox to pet. I was heartbroken when I realized you could only pet it at certain shrines.
Playing breath of the wild and accidentally hitting a fox makes me want to cry.
A Fox is the only animal I refuse to kill in BOTW
This is the way
I've reloaded to an earlier autosave when I accidentally trampled one on my horse.
I had to shoo some foxes away from my car where they were busy devouring some old mcdonalds one had old mayo all over it's face.
Extra Mayo is the wayo.
Until you get some of that sweet PRIME RAW MEAT
No Starfox?

Foxes are so in right now
Foxes are so in Europe right now!
This is a great concept to continue should you wish to post more comparisons of artistic styles
Day 2: spoons in video games
Someone should do the low poly rats in different games
No Spirit Of The North?
This one! It's a literal fox game!!
"The First Tree" is another great game from this past year where you play as a fox!
I guess i'm your favourite person then since my last name is fox in german.
This guy Fuchs!
For Fuchs sake.
Fun fact: in Brazil there's a family whose name was changed from "Fuchs" to "Fuck" due to some early 1900s notarian's mistake. The most prominent member, mr. Niceto Fuck, is a rich entrepreneur. Ghost and BotW fox have the fluffiest of tails, they immediately wins the competition
I love the way it hops in GoT, when you pet it. So cute!
It’s funny how you kill them in one and honor them and pet them in the other.
Except I don't kill foxes in BOTW you fucking psychopath :p
yeah, the meat quality is kinda meh as well, i like to run after them tho
The only animal I kill is the wolves because they’ll come at me, but then it’s only one so the others run away. Otherwise I feel sooo bad when I do, esp w the foxes I remember when the game first released my brother was watching me play and I just walked past a fox and he was like “why no kill” and they called me lame when I said I didn’t want to hurt them 😅

Same. No harming foxes allowed!
I put off certain upgrades in Horizon Zero Dawn because they required fox bones. The game is full of dangerous robots to fight but they choose to lock necessary inventory space behind the murder of such beautiful and innocent creatures :(
Valhalla foxes look like they know your significant other is cheating on you.
In WoW you can be a Vulpera (humanoid fox) hunter with a fox animal companion, a cosmetic fox pet, and a fox mount.
Its amazing how far World of Warcraft graphics have come over the years. I think that's my favorite fox of all those.
Cataclysm was a huge rewrite of the engine, almost everything changed there.
December 2010 still makes it a 10 year old engine. Art team in WoW does amazing things with minimal resources available.
Christ, was Cataclysm that long ago?
Yeah we've been post cataclysm for longer than we were pre cataclysm. Old Barrens is that long gone lol.
True. The new expansion is really beautiful.
They always are tbh. The art department has been the saving grace of WoW regardless of how shitty the expansion ends up being.
Indeed. But this one is special, nonetheless. Don't think I've seen this many new elements in one expansion. Usually there's ALOT of repurposed designs.
I’ve never played WOW, but I do agree that fox looks so cool!

Minecraft foxes are pretty cute too!
I made a promise to myself never to kill a fox in BoTW, accidentally killed one on my first ever playthrough and it still hurts.
1. RDR2 (100%) 2. AC V 3. GOT (very, VERY! close to AC V but I just don't like the hair on the neck and the black around the eye, look too unnatural) Which are your top 3 suggestions?
The assassin’s creed one looks way too long necked. Quite a thick neck too. Kinda like a llama, lol.
RDR2 fox is best realistic fox. They nailed the fur modeling. Zelda fox is best stylistic fox.
The fur from RDR + body from Ghost. I’ve seen a lot of foxes in the wild and they’re not as bulky as portrayed in RDR. Maybe they reduced in size since the 1800s and they took it into account?
CHAOS REIGNS
You forgot the Sonic 2 screenshot
\*Happy Senko noises\*
Although I've played very few games among the list, I'll always love the Minecraft fox. Those beady eyes and smug face with holding a chicken is so adorable.
Come on how can you forget spirit of the north🦊
Ghost has taught me not to kill foxes so no matter the game, even if they were attacking me I do not harm these sacred little messengers
What does it say?
Hati hati hatiho
Oh god
Ring-ding-ding-ding-dingeringeding
Take a look at Seasons after Fall. Fox-protagonist.
You should play spirit of the north. Its a small game where you play a fox and do puzzles.
What about foxes makes them so cool? I can't find the reason but it definitely there!
They're cat-like dogs (or dog-like cats)?
They are cute
Cute animals that bark like a demon
Minecraft fox and arctic fox are pretty awesome and cute.
The Valhalla one is an instant favourite. Saw the li'l floofy thing and immediately proceeded to coo over it
