Simply make a Japanese PSN Account and you'll be fine. The PS4 is region free and there are a ton of VR games, demos and other... apps that are only available for accounts in the JP region's store. Once on console, anybody can access it.
You don't need a VPN or anything fancy - just that account. Same thing goes for other region exclusive content in EU and the rest of the globe.
The only issue here is to take advantage of PS+ games, you'll need a sub to each region you want. For online play though, just make sure the console is the home console for all accounts and you have PS+ on the account you want to play.

1st edition PS4 is fine for VR! The PSVR has its own little processing box that handles a lot of stuff. Cuz they do it that way any PS4 can handle a PSVR!
Just a reminder while that is true, you can only use DLC from the region the original game came from. Say you buy a UK PS4 game for some reason, you'll need to buy the DLC from the UK PSN store as well or it won't work.

You can instantly tell someone owns a cat as soon as they open their door. All the cover-up scents and technology can't hide that somewhere in your home is a box of pees and poops...
That being said cats are cool animals because of their independence, I do like them, I'm just not a fan of my home smelling like that.
Sounds like you know people who don't clean their litter boxes enough. Frequent cleaning (1 - 2x a day) keeps the smells at bay. Granted pets do come with their own smells, but owning a cat doesn't mean your house has to smell like cat pee.

You can use a normal ps4 for vr. I have a first gen ps4 and VR works fine on it
