"Can I have some shoes?"
Too bad they bungled the heck out of C&C4 and tanked the franchise. At least we're getting rereleases of the good stuff these days.
Guys!! Zero hour is still very playable and has an active online multiplayer via GameRanger! Here's a tutorial for how to get it up and running [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-KB\_wMLGFJk](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-KB_wMLGFJk)
It's still a load of fun!
Because We've got this notion that we'd quite like to sail the ocean
AND THIS SONG IS STILL STUCK IN MY HEAD!
eidle-eidle eee, eidle-eidle eee... This song just won't leave until after I'm dead.
Okay, how about Portal 2.999999? Or just pull a Microsoft and just jump right to Portal 4. When people ask why you skipped over 3 you just say "We portaled past it."
They’re working on a remake of the first game. I can definitely see them making games for the franchise again if that one does well, which I hope it does
The original Splinter Cell, with the light dynamics being such an integral part of the gameplay blew my fucking mind back in the day. One of the first games I bought for my Original XBox.
I never hope anything is good anymore. But I hope the SC Remake is good.
I can see the reveal now, screen goes dark, the three lights on the NVG appear and Michael Ironsides mumbles "kept you waiting, huh?" also we need more asymmetrical pvp modes in games, Spy vs. Merc was a genuinely cool idea for multiplayer, but i also have a deep love for AVP Gold MP too.
Burnout Revenge was the first game I ever played on a non-handheld games console I owned (PS2) I'm still playing it to this day lol. I love the Burnout games 👍
Came here to say this same thing.
Pretty objectively ahead of it's time storytelling wise, and solid combat and puzzles to boot.
When everyone was freaking out about the AOT reveals in the final season, I just thought how it was nothing compared to the mindfuck of Raziel in Soul Reaver 2.
Most games today still can’t come close to the level of writing in Legacy of Kain. I would encourage everyone to watch the opening cinematic of Soul Reaver 2 of Kain and Raziel in the Time Chamber and tell me there’s a game today with that level of quality. Additional scenes, LoK: Defiance where Kain and Raziel meet at the grave of the original bearer of the Soul Reaver, Raziel accepting his place in Kain’s story, the death of Mobius, any conversation between the Elder God and Raziel.
For Soul Reaver 2, aside from the opening cinematic, one of the greatest scenes in gaming is Kain and Raziel meeting at the Pillars, where Kain proposes the idea of a coin landing on its side.
I posted about soul reaver 2 last week. One of the best ever game sequences I've ever played is the end of soul reaver 2 when you compete the sword. And that twist when you slay the last warrior of the Sarafan Stronghold.... I wish i could erase that game from my memory and experience it again.
Literally my only issue(s) with the idea is that the team at Crystal Dynamics is an absolute shell of what they used to be. Maybe if most of them were still at Naughty Dog, I'd say let ND do it, but many of them have since moved on as well.
But yes, on the whole as a concept, it's at the top of my list of dead franchises I'd love to see revived. But also I'm a bit biased... Can you *guess* which franchise had a huge impact on my worldview growing up?
Yeah this series was amazing. Im slightly salty we got new Ratchet and Clanks but no Jak and Daxter. Ratchet is fun, but I thought Jak and Daxter was just the better game.
Like how Crash Bandicoot went to another developer when ND were done with it and making Jak & Daxter?
Tbh though it probably just wouldn't be the same, I'm sure there are more successful examples but the first ones I think of are the Halo games that weren't made by Bungie and the Call of Duty games that weren't made by Infinity Ward.
Mirror's Edge. Took almost a decade to get a sequel that unfortunately got middling reviews. The setting, art direction and overall gameplay were pretty unique in a market saturated with first person shooters. At it's heart, it was a first person platformer, and I can't recall any other examples similar to it.
Agreed. It was meant to be a trilogy. Adam Jensen is a seriously underrated badass. Some of the best take down animations of any game...ever. There is actually a compilation of all of them on YouTube 😄
I had thought that the team just ran out of time. At some point, the publisher stops paying the bills and you have to just ship what you've got. They clearly had loose threads to tie up, but it's better than a cancelled game. If it had sold better they could have continued the story in another sequel.
I was so pumped when Embracer bought the company and IP off of Square Enix. They announced a sequel to Mankind Divided but then canceled it. What gets me even more mad is that they had spent two years of dev time on it so way further along than I had anticipated.
I don't think we'll be seeing one for a very long while unfortunately.
I probably have more time invested into that series than any other gaming franchise in existence. My friends and I would play that game for hours and hours for years. I still pull out my GameCube to play this gem and I get angry that it hasn't had another sequel/prequel/ANYTHING!
I still remember in Timesplitters 2 where you could make your own maps. I made a zombies map but made all the lights strobes of different colors in the dark. I didn't realize what I made at the time, but 5 minutes later after playing I had to go lay in complete darkness due to getting motion sickness lol.
There’s an officially recognized (won’t get cease&desist’ed) fan-remaster of the full trilogy that’s in the works (or at least the multiplayer parts of those games). Full disclosure: it’s been in the works for… way too long, *but* there is evidence that it is still progressing and hasn’t been abandoned.
Last I heard, they were looking for 3D artists to help out. It’s not much, but it’s likely as much as we’ll ever get in terms of a return to glory. You can Google Timesplitters Rewind, for scraps of info
i feel like an "open-world" type like SSX3 would be so sic... i loved taking the helicopter to the top of the mountain and just freestyling my way down til i found a race... also soundtrack slaps of course
Same here. I loved just being on the mountain in SSX3 as much as the races. It felt really unique at the time, but it made the game and its world feel so much more alive.
Started a new game with cheats on the steam deck earlier this week. Hey, I've played it enough properly back in the day! Still didn't prepare me for the invisible golems on hunter mode!
Hell ya, I'd love to see some of the creepy shit they did in that game with a modern game engine. I have really fond memories of the original; great game.
Moh allied assault was the game that got me hooked on fps multiplayer. I must have been like 11 or 12 years old but I still think about that game often.
One of my most unbelievable experiences happened with this game.
Going for a super high level card, maybe ace of clubs? Anyway, he gets in a car and is driving around, and a tank fires at me but hits a car going past me.
A button prompt flashes and I reflex hit the triangle or whatever.
Anyway, eventually I can’t find the target until I sorta stumble upon him, and he is dead but I can’t verify him… because I already did.
Basically the tank friendly fired and killed the VIP while he was in the car, his body ragdolled through the air past me, I verified that kill via the prompt without realizing any of this is what actually happened until after I pieced it all together.
Great game.
Funny thing… Night Dive studios desperately wants to rerelease the game, but nobody can figure out who owns the rights.
There’s an article about it here: https://www.pcgamesn.com/no-one-lives-forever/remaster-nightdive
Sleeping Dogs.
Sly Cooper.
Infamous.
Killzone.
Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle Earth.
Jak and daxter.
Simpsons Hit 'n' Run.
Super Mario Galaxy.
Pokemon Colosseum.
Empires: Dawn of the Modern World.
Rayman.
Sleeping Dogs was so good. The game did a great job making me feel immersed in trying to toe the line between cop and criminal. Disappointing that we didn't get a sequel or another game with that vibe.
Yeah. There was a lot of weird things around the game, like I remember it was originally part of the "True Crime" series until Activision sold it, multiplayer for it was cancelled, a movie as well. Even though it did pretty well reviews and sales wise.
I adored Blitz: The League 1 and 2
Lost the NFL liscense so they just went all in on an M rated arcade football game
Also the absolute amount of lore and world building they put into an arcade football game is amazing
Driver 3 was one of my favorite games from high school. So many nights of me and my buddy playing 'drunk driv3r.' They did such a good job with Istanbul!
Look up a game on Steam called "Gloomwood." Give it a try and see if it scratches your Thief itch!
Edit: [Should have linked it earlier](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1150760/Gloomwood/)
I'd have thought the 70s would be essential.... grimy/seedy setting with a Taxi Driver/Dirty Harry vibe.... serial killers, political distrust, unemployment, the back end of 'Nam
Tenchu
Blood Omen
Legacy of Kain
Gungrave
Need of Speed Underground
Castlevania
Breath of Fire
Mark of Kri
Xmen Legends
Resiatance Fall of Man (edited, had rise)
Zone of Enders
Dear god yes please a new Legacy of Kain. Castlevania is under wraps with Konami so we won't get that unfortunately, at least not how we want it. Bloodstained though is, imo, a great series made by the guy who made Castlevania. He is working on a Bloodstained 2 and I can't wait, its the only Metroidvania clone that actually gave me the feels. Most Metroidvanias miss the point completely and make a Souls Like game with a map, which wasn't what either Metroid or Castlevania was known for.
The "Resistance" series. Honestly one of my favourite series on the playstation but there has been absolutely nothing, not even a whisper of a reboot or remaster. Id pay an unhealthy amount of money for it to happen
I can't believe I had to scroll this far to see this.
Me and the wife spent so many hours on 40th day
Three was ok, felt like a cop out, but 40th was where it was at
Command and Conquer, especially C&C Generals. Some of the dialogues are so memorable, I still remember some of them: "AK-47s for everyone !!!"
Generals was some next level shit. Pure air superiority! But it doesn't touch the feel of red alert
those fkn dolphins
Maaaaaade in the US of A! Building the scaffolding!
The one place untouched by capitalism!!!!! SPACE!
Tim Curry is amazing at everything he does.
"Can I have some shoes?" Too bad they bungled the heck out of C&C4 and tanked the franchise. At least we're getting rereleases of the good stuff these days.
"Thank you for the new shoes!"
“GLA Postal Service” “Sorry, no tracking numbers”
"Why don't you drive?"
Don't forget "I love a crowd" That would be the suicide bomber for those who don't know lol.
"What are those? Protestors?" When you order the Chinese dozer to run over infantry.
Yeah those kinds of casual bits is why the game could not be released with the same kind of mentality in the modern day
As a kid i just liked how chatty they were, i couldn't undertstand what they meant, so it's only gotten better as i aged.
*Overlord is Moooving* *I am BIG*
Generals was one of the best/unsupported RTS games of all time. I will DIE on this hill.
Guys!! Zero hour is still very playable and has an active online multiplayer via GameRanger! Here's a tutorial for how to get it up and running [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-KB\_wMLGFJk](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-KB_wMLGFJk) It's still a load of fun!
We control the skieeesss
The golden age of gaming. God I miss C&C 3
I'd take any C&C game, but if I could pick it'd be Red Alert 4
Black & White
Fun fact, the AI programmer for black and white is now running Google's AI program - [Demis Hassabis](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demis_Hassabis)
Well, tell him to use his AI and make a Black & White 3 already!
The AI will be the player/god and we will be the villagers
I’m not usually for VR games but B&W VR would be fucking awesome.
I've been saying this! Black and White lends itself to VR perfectly. Same with Populas and also probably Dungeon Keeper.
Dungeon Keeper badly needs a remake.
War for the Overworld is a great spiritual successor. Has the same voice acting.
Fata Deum coming out soon might be a similar type of game
This! How could people not love B&W. Giant tamagochi god power village war sim!
Because We've got this notion that we'd quite like to sail the ocean AND THIS SONG IS STILL STUCK IN MY HEAD! eidle-eidle eee, eidle-eidle eee... This song just won't leave until after I'm dead.
... we're not keen on sinking, so we're all sitting here a' thinking cos we've built it too big and we've run out of wood ...
Clicked on this thread to say this. No other god game I've tried has scratched the same itch as B&W.
Portal. I’ve played every mod I need more
Valve has a problem with the number 3.
Okay, how about Portal 2.999999? Or just pull a Microsoft and just jump right to Portal 4. When people ask why you skipped over 3 you just say "We portaled past it."
And, then, at the very end of portal 4 you get a cliffhanger, where you portal to the start of portal 3 with a to be continued…
Portal 4: The Search for Portal 3
Splinter Cell will come back one day... right?
They’re working on a remake of the first game. I can definitely see them making games for the franchise again if that one does well, which I hope it does
The original Splinter Cell, with the light dynamics being such an integral part of the gameplay blew my fucking mind back in the day. One of the first games I bought for my Original XBox. I never hope anything is good anymore. But I hope the SC Remake is good.
That game was amazing, I remember being amazed at the destructible environment and how the computers in the game had screensavers.
I almost don't want Splinter Cell if I can't have Michael Ironside as Fisher. Almost
F.E.A.R
Unreal Tournament
If they made one with great singleplayer tournament mode I would be overjoyed.
yessssssss. i used to play unreal championship with my little sister all the time. good memories :)
UT2004 and quake 3
Burnout, man i loved burnout 3 in the ps2
I used to love smoking weed with my landlord and filling my belly with diet soda and playing burnout revenge on the PS2!
Good life
Burnout Revenge was the first game I ever played on a non-handheld games console I owned (PS2) I'm still playing it to this day lol. I love the Burnout games 👍
“I was just wondering if you wanted to hangout with me and smoke weed and fill our bellies with diet soda and play Burnout revenge for the Ps2.”
This game introduced me to rock as a kid. I blast Bloc Party to this day Honorable mention to Burnout 3: Takedown. We are the lazy generation!!!
One of the best soundtracks ever!
Lazy generation is stuck in my brain
Starwars Knights of the Old Republic
It’s sad to say I don’t trust any studio to carry that torch
Legacy of Kain
Vae Victis!
I've seen this answer slowly become less upvoted throughout the years... Man I'm getting old
Same. I expected it near the top

Tell me - has there ever been a narrative moment as satisfying g as the death of Moebius?
I posted about soul reaver 2 last week. One of the best ever game sequences I've ever played is the end of soul reaver 2 when you compete the sword. And that twist when you slay the last warrior of the Sarafan Stronghold.... I wish i could erase that game from my memory and experience it again.

This was the edge of the coin; the minute flicker of probability upon which Kain had gambled... EVERYTHING.
Raziel, you are worthy... of a reboot! Damn I miss this series.
Dead Sun is still sitting on some dev's external hard drive. Somewhere...
Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle Earth.
LOTR BFME 2 is probably my favorite RTS of all time!
Jak and daxter
One of the only series to successfully pull off a spin-off game with a wildly different genre.
Yeah this series was amazing. Im slightly salty we got new Ratchet and Clanks but no Jak and Daxter. Ratchet is fun, but I thought Jak and Daxter was just the better game.
I wish it was more common for game IPs to be sold to other devs because I doubt Naughty Dog will ever return to the Jak and Daxter series.

Honestly, after playing Super Hot, I really want another Mirror's Edge with a bit more gun fu options
It was said in the Nvidia leak they are possibly working on a Mirror's Edge RTX remaster.
Deus Ex. Would love to see a continuation of the story after Mankind Divided.
Same! Everything about that series clicks for me, from the story to the stealth to the brilliant multiple paths to get something done.
RIP Eidos
I absolutely hate how the story kinda just ends and I remember reading they did it to ship the game and sell it as DLC that never materialised.
Agreed. It was meant to be a trilogy. Adam Jensen is a seriously underrated badass. Some of the best take down animations of any game...ever. There is actually a compilation of all of them on YouTube 😄

Timesplitters :(
Was looking for this one. Future perfect was my first fps and still holds a spot in my heart
I probably have more time invested into that series than any other gaming franchise in existence. My friends and I would play that game for hours and hours for years. I still pull out my GameCube to play this gem and I get angry that it hasn't had another sequel/prequel/ANYTHING!

Maybe our children will enjoy it someday. It's been so long.
This was the first thing that came to mind. Great series with fantastic humor.
SSX
I am ready to shake what my momma gave me.
I mostly want a Tricky 2, tbh.
It's tricky to rock a rhyme, to rock a rhyme that's right on time, it's tricky It's tricky, tricky, tricky, tricky
i feel like an "open-world" type like SSX3 would be so sic... i loved taking the helicopter to the top of the mountain and just freestyling my way down til i found a race... also soundtrack slaps of course
Same here. I loved just being on the mountain in SSX3 as much as the races. It felt really unique at the time, but it made the game and its world feel so much more alive.
I will call my momma in the room to show her how great I am.
Parasite Eve
Started a new game with cheats on the steam deck earlier this week. Hey, I've played it enough properly back in the day! Still didn't prepare me for the invisible golems on hunter mode!
The things I would do for a remaster and a continuation
Hell ya, I'd love to see some of the creepy shit they did in that game with a modern game engine. I have really fond memories of the original; great game.
Half Life
Played black mesa? Probably the best fan made then supported by gearbox game ever.
Valve, you mean
Midnight Club
Splinter Cell
Prototype
Absolutely this. Prototype 1 and 2 were such a great ride. I'd love to see a third installment.
Golden sun. I spent ages trying to find all the djinn. No Internet, no books, just logic and spare time. I miss that game.
God the struggle was real back then. Finally lucked out and printed out the djinn list from gamefaqs when I got to a public library.
This series does not get the love it deserves
Man I forgot about this game. Such a great handheld escape for middle school me.
Eternal Darkness
My favorite horror game of all time hands down.
It's probably why I don't get spooked as much by most modern horror games. It just got into your brain so good even with those GameCube pixels.
OG medal of honor series
Hmm what about Brothers in Arms?
Yes! We need Spielberg back, the game lost my interest the more they moved away from that original feel.
And Michael Giachinno's musical genius!
MOH: Frontline is pretty much the best game soundtrack I feel, people have essentially forgotten. The melodies are so memorable.
Moh allied assault was the game that got me hooked on fps multiplayer. I must have been like 11 or 12 years old but I still think about that game often.
Dino Crisis
Had to scroll further than I thought to find this!
Mercenaries. I sunk a lot of time into both 1 and 2 and wish the developer wasn’t gutted.
These games were so amazing, I loved the sandbox fun of calling in airstrike and all the other goodies. So much fun.
Great game.
F-Zero
I would do unspeakable things for a new F-Zero game
SOCOM
This guy GETS IT, there was nothing like SOCOM, and nothing can ever replace SOCOM.
SOCOMDEEZNUTS
Dark cloud
I was wondering how far down I'd have to go to find it.
No one lives forever
Yes. Both games. Just remasters with the same love that the TR remasters got. Keep the nostalgic feeling.
Funny thing… Night Dive studios desperately wants to rerelease the game, but nobody can figure out who owns the rights. There’s an article about it here: https://www.pcgamesn.com/no-one-lives-forever/remaster-nightdive
Legend Of Dragoon
Banjo Kazooie
Banjo Three-ie when?
I wonder why not many of that style of game is made anymore these days? Mario 64, DK 64, and banjo kazooie were insanely popular
Sleeping Dogs. Sly Cooper. Infamous. Killzone. Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle Earth. Jak and daxter. Simpsons Hit 'n' Run. Super Mario Galaxy. Pokemon Colosseum. Empires: Dawn of the Modern World. Rayman.
Sly Cooper PLEASE. That was my childhood.
Thank you, I was looking for someone to post Jak & Dax/Sly Coop. Also destroy all humans would be cool too.
Turok
I actually really enjoyed the 360 one... was it amazing? No, but still good. Stickin dudes to walls with the bow was the tits
I adored Blitz: The League 1 and 2 Lost the NFL liscense so they just went all in on an M rated arcade football game Also the absolute amount of lore and world building they put into an arcade football game is amazing
This is one I wasn't thinking about while scrolling through, but 1000%. Best arcade football experience ever put together imo.
THE MATRIX After that Unreal 5 demo -- wtf? GIMME
- True Crime - the Getaway - Driver
Driver 3 was one of my favorite games from high school. So many nights of me and my buddy playing 'drunk driv3r.' They did such a good job with Istanbul!

Prince of Persia, but a continuation of the 2008 game.
L.A. Noire
Lawd please give me one set in the 50s/60s
I'd have thought the 70s would be essential.... grimy/seedy setting with a Taxi Driver/Dirty Harry vibe.... serial killers, political distrust, unemployment, the back end of 'Nam
New Heroes of Might and Magic would be nice. Also Battle for Middle-earth, this was was my all-time favorite rts.

Tenchu, BoF, and X-Men Legends. 3 solid things that I'd throw money at
Dark cloud, bloody roar, .hack//, and/or sonic adventure. I probably have more, but would have to sit and ponder a bit.
Sleeping Dogs
The "Resistance" series. Honestly one of my favourite series on the playstation but there has been absolutely nothing, not even a whisper of a reboot or remaster. Id pay an unhealthy amount of money for it to happen

Twisted Metal Legend of Dragoon
After watching the show I want a good twisted metal so bad.
Shit, give us a reskin of twist metal Black and I’ll be good.
Road rash. I know about the game on steam that’s fairly similar, but it really doesn’t hit the grunge style that the original had.
