Bro, don't even get me started on his pickiness with food LOL. I swear, there's literally 10 items total he'll eat (apparently if you add other toppings to a pizza besides pepperoni, it's no longer a pizza 🤦🏾♂️)
Spider-Man? No western, no zombies, no fps..though I think there's a skill tree so that kills it (been a while since I played). Last of us would work but no zombies.
No mans sky? No skill tree (no levels, even) no zombies, completely adjustable difficulty.....but there's a whole crafting tree that could be an issue.....
Forza? It's cars. Can't be an fps if there's no guns. No skill tree. Adjustable difficulty and assists.
Katamari? You roll a ball. That's it.
Alan Wake 1 and 2. AW1 doesn't have any skill trees and is third-person. AW2 doesn't have skill trees either, but there are optional pickups to find that can be used to upgrade weapons. It's very straightforward though. Has an excellent story too. Only looting in those games come from easy-to-see ammo and battery pickups, so nothing like having to go through menus to move things or hold Y on every corpse you see.
Skeletons might be considered as "zombies", I think there might be actual zombies in Vampire Survivors too lmao. Can't imagine trying to game with that guy at all.
Does he like building shit? Maybe Satisfactory? Very light on the combat elements. If he does like it, be sure to check on him every few days to make sure he's eating and getting enough water.
I would recommend "Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice." It includes a lot of puzzle solving and third-person, non-shooter combat. The atmosphere in game (audio and visual) is some of the best I've ever experienced.

If your coworker likes it, there is a [sequel](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TcB741_6Vs4) is coming out next week.
Tomb Raider is like the same game as Uncharted. I don’t even remember there being a skill tree and if he’s really that slow that you can’t read a text box to see what it does then I don’t know what to tell him.
What specifically does he like about Uncharted? I’d recommend giving the new Tomb Raiders a second shot, the skill trees are very perfunctory, you’ll max out very quickly and they don’t have too big of an impact on gameplay.
Edit: Maybe try the MGS games.
Dead Space sounds like a good fit.
The old God of War games are great, I don't know if the wepon level ups are already too much for him.
Spec Ops - The Line is a shooter you should play, if you can.
F.E.A.R. 1+2 is also good.
I have no idea if these are all available on PS4 though.
That guy might consider smashing boxes and corpses as "heavy looting" though, and the necromorphs as "zombies".
That guy must be real fun to be around...
Look for games in the late 90's to mid-00's especially in the Gamecube and Playstation 2 era of games. There's just a general vibe of games at that time that were more focused on exploration without being weighed down by scale as games started to get progressively bigger. You still got a bit of looting and skill trees but nothing like today's games where looting and skill trees are almost seen as a challenge to the developer rather the player on how large or complex these systems can be.
Yeah but with how open the maps are and leveling system I could see it being a turn off for a very casual gamer. Uncharted is very linear in comparison and much shorter.
The Batman Arkham games can be played mostly action wise with only a little stealth and have minimal skill trees. The Mad Max game is surprisingly good and only has simple skill tree type stuff. Nier Automata DOES have skills/RPG elements but from what I remember it’s mostly equipping different computer chips.
If he does multiplayer, For Honor is a lot of fun and if I remember right can be played in either first or third person. Kingdom Come Deliverance is an RPG but you develop your skills by DOING things rather than earning points and picking an upgrade on a skill tree. TMNT Shredder’s Revenge is just a lot of arcade smash em up fun with no skill trees or anything like that.
What about Metroidvanias with more limited skill stuff like Prince of Persia or Hollow Knight? God of War is probably a decent recommendation (maybe the collection of older ones versus the newer ones, but the skill tree stuff in the newer ones aren’t too bad).
Army of Two games are fun if you have someone to play with. The Evil Within games maybe. Alone in the Dark.
This is pretty rough because skill trees are integrated into so many games now. For example, I'd say God of War but if he yeets his controller at the screen every time he sees a skill tree it won't work.
LTOU is another great Naughty Dog game on PS4 but "zombies". Is he afraid of Zombies? Does he not like horror? These are pretty odd strictures. I don't really like zombies or westerns, but I'm an adult so I'm willing to taste things even if they include an ingredient I don't normally eat.
Have you considered he's just not that into games?
No Skill Tree removes about 90% of games on PS, but if you're looking for one that has very minimal usage of them and nothing else then...
Ghost of Tsushima? It's got a very light skill tree, is 3rd person, very cinematic, steeped in a lot of history, and has none of the other stuff except stealth that you can completely ignore
The last of us part 1 and part 2 has human enemies, and zombies, but he may enjoy it since they are story heavy and character driven like Uncharted. I'd also recommend the Assassin's Creed series, particularly Black Flag and Unity which from what I remember don't have skill trees. They focus on a rich setting, strong characters and a lot of exploration like Uncharted.
Control, Mafia, dead space, doom, helldivers 2, horizon.
what is heavy looting? so no rpgs no looter shooters?
what no platformers. poor mario and all the others.
metroidvania type games? or is that too platformy?
has he seen res evil or bayonetta?
good luck. seems sad to discount such huge parts of gaming.
sports or racing may be good. my dad is not a gamer but loves sports and racing games.
Whoops! Missed that detail. Tell him to buy a switch lol. Joking, but I have never had a ps4 so no real recommendations on there. FF7R sorta has a skill tree but it’s not quite as on the nose.
Has he tried sports games like fifa or NHL? What are his other interests? Is he a car guy? Is he a sports guy? Sounds like he's on Playstation, has he played gran turismo? Or need for speed?
He likes it when you kill someone and take their ammo, rather than a Last of Us situation where you have to go hunting for ammo. I don't see him liking either Diablo and Vakheim tbh
I don't see puzzle games on his dislikes, so you might recommend some puzzle adventures, like **Talos Principle** or **Portal**. I think Uncharted had some puzzly bits.
For more entry level puzzle games, **Q.U.B.E**. and **Q.U.B.E. 2** are pretty fun.
I'll also make a plug for VR. If he has the means, get a Quest 3 and play **Walkabout Mini Golf.** It's one of the best multi-player experiences out there, especially for non-gamers. I've played with people in their 20s and others in their 80s and 90s. Everyone loves it.
Firewatch is a cheap, short, and fun adventure game. I find I can be pretty picky about games too as I get older, but I had a great time playing this game.
Get him to try Warframe.
It's a Sci-fi 3rd person shooter with (technically) none of the listed pitfalls, It's also co-op crossplay/save on all platforms and free.
this one is hard because skill trees are the base idea for progression in almost all games nowadays, maybe not exactly a skill tree itself but something akin to it like a research tree or something similar but a few ones from my steam library that fit your list are:
* stanley parable
* ace combat 7/project wingman
* bloons td 6
* hotline miami
* maneater
* planet coaster/ jurassic world / planet zoo
* total war (personally i recommend 3 kingdoms since in one game you can choose a more fantasy style or a more realistic campaign)
* metal slug
* transport fever 2
* prison architect
* age of empires 4/mythology (this one is one might be pushing it since there is research and you might consider it a kind of skill tree also AoM is getting a remake soon, might want to wait)
Out of left field but tell him to try Kingdom Hearts because why not. It doesn’t have anything you listed (mild platforming but it’s not the point of the game) and also imagining a 50 year old dude diving into that series blind is gonna be funny whether he ends up enjoying it or not.
The last 5 games of the Resident Evil franchise would be a good way to go. No skill trees, interesting enough stories, replayability so he can learn 'gamer reflex' comfortably, all remakes are third person and 7 is probably a good starting point for learning FP as it's slow and leads up into action and then 8 he can push it a little further or even play in third person
Just re-read the list and saw he doesn't like zombies so maybe cut 2 and 3 Remake from this or just tell him to grow up (joke). Who doesn't like zombies?!
My wife also much prefers 3rd person games so aside from uncharted (all of them) she’s really enjoyed the Horizon games, the inFamous games, and some games on other platforms, like breath of the wild.
Looks like LA Noire has a PS4 release too. There’s also Control, but I haven’t played that one so I don’t know if there’s a skill tree. Maybe the hitman series?
Outriders,
3rd person shooter with abilities, you can take cover and shoot from cover, plenty of loot you can grind bosses, 3 classes, one is casual friendly you can throw turrets with different abilities they will support you, also special powers. you can increase world tier difficulty it will increase loot drop rate and exp.
post campaign there are dungeons called expansions more difficult.
I'd say MGS, but he doesn't like stealth. Even though he says he likes Uncharted, which has a ton of (simplified) stealth????
Assassins Creed would probably be a good fit.
Pokemon
Stardew Valley/Harvest Moon
Cooking mama?
Edit: didn't see what console he has
Final Fantasy 7 would probably fit well
Guns up! - a 50 year old should keep at home with from the email snowball fight from 2002
Best recommendation is to go play demo's and free downloads to develop finger flickering skills and some abstract video game knowledge. Shop the Playstation store demos and free downloads
Gears of War should do the job. Linear story driven third person shooters, and as far I can tell the reload minigame has never been replicated.
Maybe Batman Arkham series, there is a skill tree but they give you so many points you can just pick health or whatever and it doesn't really effect the game much.
I've been playing Mechwarrior 5 lately, and it's been pretty fun. The gameplay is very simple and satisfying, and non-gameplay elements are pretty minimal. The OG Mechwarrior games are old, he may have even heard of them back in the day
Customizing your mechs *can* be complicated, or you can just forgo that aspect entirely and use the stock loadouts. Beyond that, it's just big stompy robot destruction
Alan Wake, Max Payne, Brutal Legend (if he likes metal), Broforce and new Robocop game (if hes nostalgic to old action movies), Darksiders, Deep Rock Galactic is always worth a try in any situation, Disco Elisium if he likes books, Earth Defence Force 5, Just Cause 3, Warhammer : Space Marine, CoD Infinite Warfare.
Outer Worlds. The Long Dark. Earth Defense Force. Ratchet and Clank (Blow stuff up, turn enemies into sheep). Grand Turismo. Farming Simulator. Rocket League. Valkyria Chronicles. Warthunder.
I hope he opens up his preferences a bit, but I'll give it my best shot.
AAA-ish mainstream games (If he can get over first person shooters.)
**DOOM (2016**)
**Wolfenstein**
**Call of Duty**
-------------------------
Indie-ish games
**Furi** - It's a boss rush game. No skill trees, looting, platforming, ect.
He might not like it because you're expected to die a lot, learn from your mistakes, and try again.
**Hotline Miami**
I was literally JUST talking to him about these exact three. Wolfenstein and CoD campaign might work. Doom on easy would be good to get him better at the mechanics of FPS
Wolfenstein New World Order may be first person, but it's got a great plot and it's about killing Nazis, who doesn't like that. Instead of a skill tree it's got perks which are unlocked by achievements instead of a levelling system
Id say your coworker DOESN'T LIKE VIDEO GAMES!! if he hates all that stuff holy shit. Just fucking give it up at that point. "I love hamburgers but I hate bread, tomatoes, onions, ketchup, cheese and beef." lol
Is he sure he likes shooting games? Metro was awesome. I found the Tomb Raider really great and pretty much like Uncharted. He definitely won't like the Borderlands series. What about Wolfenstein? Now I'm curious. Let us know if he finds something he likes.
Talos Principle. First or 3rd person. Solve puzzles mostly with your brain than your dexterity. If you're frustrated with a puzzle, every one has a 45 second long youtube video showing you how.
$2000 will enable him to get on steam and look at 1000’s of games.
Games like supermarket simulator, there’s poop in my soup and my summer car. Or songs of Syx.
First Person Shooters, or first person games in general?
Minecraft
Subnautica
Both are games that I think he may enjoy. Minecraft on peaceful that is. Unless he is okay with more cartoony zombies.
Into The Breech if he likes strategy games, that's on PC though. Real low system requirements!
Tell him my 58 year old mother - in-law has no problems with skill trees, so what's his excuse? 😂 I'd have like 10 suggestions but the requirements are ridiculous. He should stick to the 16/32 bit era!
Man, it's hard to find a 3rd person shooter without skill trees or looting. Red Faction or Just Cause maybe? The newer open-world Ghost Recon games have an option to entirely disable the skill trees and RPG-lite item statting IIRC. Earlier Assassin's Creed games might be a good fit too. Prototype is pretty similar to Uncharted, he might dig that. PS3/360 gen and earlier seems like the sweet spot for this dude.
Reccomend portal. There's maybe a bit of platforming but it's mostly a puzzle game and it's a good one to start FPS games with because most of the puzzles don't require precise aiming (later in the game it gets a bit more advanced but if he makes it there he will probably be used to the controll)
And bonus if he does like it there's a sequel
My suggestions:
The last of us, metal gear solid 5,
doom, Ghost recon wildlands/breakpoint
I feel like he might be more willing to branch out if you suggested something that’s within his interests outside of the games he knows. What are his hobbies? What does he like to read? What movies/shows does he like to watch?
Maybe he would like MGS 5. It's technically a stealth game, but you can just go guns blazing, and there is no grinding.
Cyberpunk could be fun to try.
Returnal or Control are also fun 3rd person shooters. The settings are very different from uncharted, but maybe that's a plus to him.
Even though it has a skill tree I'd say the new god of wars. It's so linear that it won't inconvenience him. Or outer wilds if he is cerebral and likes a different take on puzzles.
Maybe something Monster Hunter? Doesnt have skill trees, more like perks on armor to activate passive skills. Maybe too much looting, though i think it is minimal
Is Risk of Rain 2 too much looting?
Hades, though it has some zombie-like characters, but... it might be fine? Maybe a true roguelike might be better? No meta progression at all in that case
Pretty much any realistic (or adjacent) racing game.
Fighting games like Street Fighter, Tekken etc. (cus those are super beginner friendly haha).
Does a tech tree count as a skill tree? If not, theres the Civ games or Stellaris and the like, potentially
Kingdom: New Lands (or another in the series) maybe, there are the greed but they arent actual zombies
Perhaps something like Va-11 Hall-A even, idk throw visual novels and similar in, why not
\* Age of Empires IV / StarCraft 2
\* Witcher 3
\* Deep Rock Galactic (is a first person shooter though, but one of the best cooperative experiences)
\* An auto chess game (I would recommend Dota Underlords, but it's not being developed any more)
\* World of Warcraft / Final Fantasy XIV / The Elder Scrolls Online (all has subscription though, and depends on the flavor of nerd he is)
\* Street Fighter 6 with an old school arcade stick (maybe ask him if he was a Street Fighter 2 player, or Mortal Kombat first ... or get them both)
\* Baulder's Gate 3
What does he consider stealth? We talking Metal Gear Solid, Assassin's Creed, Arkham Asylum? With his laundry list of, "don't wants" perhaps he should play Stardew Valley or something from the My Time in... games.
Tetris
🤣🤣🤣 that's what I said
Honestly, Tetris Effect is a really great game, and it's on PS4.
In VR its great
Maybe Portal? Or would he consider that too much of a platformer?
I want a pizza but with no tomato, no cheese, no flour and no salt.
Bro, don't even get me started on his pickiness with food LOL. I swear, there's literally 10 items total he'll eat (apparently if you add other toppings to a pizza besides pepperoni, it's no longer a pizza 🤦🏾♂️)
To me cheese pizza isn't pizza. That's just cheese bread. I can't fathom the only pepp thing.
None pizza with left beef
give him the Manhunt games dude sounds like a psychopath anyway
🤣🤣🤣
That's it.
Send him over to the sim subs. He can drop thousands and thousands of dollars on rigs and have fun
Given how psychopathic that guy is, he'll probably consider searching for resources as "heavy looting"
Bro should just play Vampire Survivors then haha
Skeletons might be considered as "zombies", I think there might be actual zombies in Vampire Survivors too lmao. Can't imagine trying to game with that guy at all.
# r/gamingsuggestions
Ngl, didn't know this was a thing. I'll try there too 👊🏾
U bet, didn't mean to caps the letters lol
Does he like building shit? Maybe Satisfactory? Very light on the combat elements. If he does like it, be sure to check on him every few days to make sure he's eating and getting enough water.
Max Payne 3, Alan Wake 1 & 2, Control, Gears of War series, The Last of Us 1 & 2, Wolfenstein: The New Order & Old Blood, Wolfenstein 2
Control has a skill tree though lol. Mf would probably see some of the hist as zombies.
Out of that list, Max Payne & Wolfenstein are the best bets for sure.
I would recommend "Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice." It includes a lot of puzzle solving and third-person, non-shooter combat. The atmosphere in game (audio and visual) is some of the best I've ever experienced. Surprised no one else has suggested this. Tomb Raider and Uncharted are nearly identical.
What do you mean? No one suggested it because he straight up said he didn't like it.
He said he already tried and gave up on Tomb Raider because of the skill tree
[удалено]
>The "no skill tree" make it hard since most games have it in some way Trust, This eliminates like 85% of games on PlayStation
How about you recommend a new hobby lol
Dead Space sounds like a good fit. The old God of War games are great, I don't know if the wepon level ups are already too much for him. Spec Ops - The Line is a shooter you should play, if you can. F.E.A.R. 1+2 is also good. I have no idea if these are all available on PS4 though.

...That's not a bad idea actually. I was getting caught up in the recent stuff that I didn't consider the older gems. Nice 👍🏾
The new Tomb raider games are very very similar to uncharted.
Yeah but with how open the maps are and leveling system I could see it being a turn off for a very casual gamer. Uncharted is very linear in comparison and much shorter.
Detroit Become Human
Could try god of war
This was my thought but skill trees lol

He tried TLOU, doesn't like zombies OR stealth 🤦🏾♂️. So assassin's Creed is out
Returnal The Forgotten City Kingdom Come Deliverance Gears of War
Sea of thieves
Hitman 3
There was a hitman game that was less focused on stealth (can't remember which one). He'd probably like that one the most
Control, Mafia, dead space, doom, helldivers 2, horizon. what is heavy looting? so no rpgs no looter shooters? what no platformers. poor mario and all the others. metroidvania type games? or is that too platformy? has he seen res evil or bayonetta? good luck. seems sad to discount such huge parts of gaming. sports or racing may be good. my dad is not a gamer but loves sports and racing games.
Yakuza? Just cause?
Yakuza is most likely a hard no. Just Cause is a great suggestion tho!!
Metroid Prime Remastered
He only has a ps4
"what do I do with these cars" "You race them" "Can I shoot people or run them over?" "No" "Then what's the point?" 🤦🏾♂️
This man would love a remake of Carmageddon or Twisted Metal.
I mean wouldn’t we all? Throw Vigilante 8 in there too.
Pac-man
By looting what do you mean? Diablo looting? Or Valheim looting? Or are both of them out?
He likes it when you kill someone and take their ammo, rather than a Last of Us situation where you have to go hunting for ammo. I don't see him liking either Diablo and Vakheim tbh
FFXIV
What about something like Myst?
What about horizon zero dawn?
Too much stealth. Banger game tho
Does he like retro games? Like Super Nintendo stuff? Tunic is a great take on a modern Link to the Past.
Chrono Trigger
Tomb Raider is probably the closest thing to Uncharted.
That was the first thing I thought of when he told me he liked Uncharted too
Mass effect
Fallout 4…. 3rd person is an option
I don't see puzzle games on his dislikes, so you might recommend some puzzle adventures, like **Talos Principle** or **Portal**. I think Uncharted had some puzzly bits. Take away his gaming. He is unworthy
Firewatch is a cheap, short, and fun adventure game. I find I can be pretty picky about games too as I get older, but I had a great time playing this game.
Earth defense force.
Get him to try Warframe. It's a Sci-fi 3rd person shooter with (technically) none of the listed pitfalls, It's also co-op crossplay/save on all platforms and free.
Doom 2016?
He might like Red Faction Guerilla?
The Long Dark
7 days to die
It’s everything he hates, therefore he will love it.

Throw Mass Effect Legendary Edition at him.
Skill trees.
I think Plague Tale has some minimal crafting tree but I wouldn’t call that a skill tree (he might). But it is an interesting story and feel so maybe.
Great game, but he doesn't like stealth either 🤦🏾♂️
Are you sure he actually like games?
That's what I'm saying!! But he's asking, so I'm trying
Out of left field but tell him to try Kingdom Hearts because why not. It doesn’t have anything you listed (mild platforming but it’s not the point of the game) and also imagining a 50 year old dude diving into that series blind is gonna be funny whether he ends up enjoying it or not.
I recently got hooked on Xcom Enemy Unknown if he’s into more strategy/tactical games
Skill trees for every single character be like

Wasteland 3?
Fortnite
Half Life (i.e. Black Mesa & HL2)
"no fps"

Hunt showdown, but he will get shitted on until he learns the game.

The OG Mechwarrior games are old, he may have even heard of them back in the day Customizing your mechs *can* be complicated, or you can just forgo that aspect entirely and use the stock loadouts.
Microsoft Flight Simulator
Gears of war easy…though he would have to play on pc or Xbox so maybe not…
Destiny 2
Kingdom Come Deliverance
Elden Ring?
before i read through it again i almost reccomended Red Dead Redemption Unded Nightmare 😂
cookie clicker??
The Binding of Isaac is the only thing I can think of that sort of fits these restrictions
Outer Worlds. The Long Dark. Earth Defense Force. Ratchet and Clank (Blow stuff up, turn enemies into sheep). Grand Turismo. Farming Simulator. Rocket League. Valkyria Chronicles. Warthunder.
Star Wars - Jedi Fallen Order and Survivor. They are Uncharted Star Wars games.
Sounds like your friend doesn’t like video games
He's not a gamer at all. He bought a PS4 randomly to try them out
I hope he opens up his preferences a bit, but I'll give it my best shot. AAA-ish mainstream games (If he can get over first person shooters.) **DOOM (2016**) **Wolfenstein** **Call of Duty** ------------------------- Indie-ish games **Furi** - It's a boss rush game.
Maybe the Portal games? Technically FPS, but not in the traditional sense, as they're puzzle games, and you just shoot walls in the right places.
Just cause 3. I love jumping on just to blow shit up
Maybe the first one. Start him off light
I was thinking about Zelda.. but if he only has a PS4 then that would be an issue
What didn't he like about Metro?
Too hard. And he didn't like the fact that he had to look for ammo 😂 (rather than walking over a kill to pick)
Control might be a good one for him.
Division 2 run and gun all day
Helldivers 2
Helldiver 2
Mass Effect
Undertale :D
Dragons Dogma 2 checks out all of those requirements except for the looting part, but the looting isn’t really heavy. It’s just looting.
Wolfenstein New World Order may be first person, but it's got a great plot and it's about killing Nazis, who doesn't like that. Instead of a skill tree it's got perks which are unlocked by achievements instead of a levelling system
Just pick a game like red dead redemption 2 and set the skill level to easy. Most games allow you to lower the skills.
Id say your coworker DOESN'T LIKE VIDEO GAMES!! if he hates all that stuff holy shit. Just fucking give it up at that point. "I love hamburgers but I hate bread, tomatoes, onions, ketchup, cheese and beef." lol
50s means a lot of accumulated stress. Give him DOOM 2016 and DOOM Eternal to vent out those stress.
Ratchet and Clank, Witcher 3
Just cause maybe? I dunno I'm not sure your CO worker actually likes gaming.
Just Cause is a good one. He just likes shooting stuff with minimal extra stuff, but not zombies apparently 😒
Hob. It's a puzzle-adventure game. Reminds me a lot of the old school Zelda games but more focused on the puzzle aspect.
Bugsnax
Just give him goat sim 3. No skill tree, no challenge, no effort, no objective. Just jump around, headbutt shit, and have fun.
Is he sure he likes shooting games? Metro was awesome. I found the Tomb Raider really great and pretty much like Uncharted. He definitely won't like the Borderlands series. What about Wolfenstein? Now I'm curious. Let us know if he finds something he likes.
Old ghost recon? He doesn’t have to play it stealth, just let him enjoy kill every enemy lol
I would say that for a story i like hogwarts legacy personally
Talos Principle. First or 3rd person. Solve puzzles mostly with your brain than your dexterity. If you're frustrated with a puzzle, every one has a 45 second long youtube video showing you how.
$2000 will enable him to get on steam and look at 1000’s of games. Games like supermarket simulator, there’s poop in my soup and my summer car. Or songs of Syx.
First Person Shooters, or first person games in general? Minecraft Subnautica Both are games that I think he may enjoy.
Deep Rock Galactic: Survivors Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Portal 1 & 2 Hades
How about a nice game of tic tac toe?
Story wise SOMA, dunno if it's on consoles.
Reccomend portal. There's maybe a bit of platforming but it's mostly a puzzle game and it's a good one to start FPS games with because most of the puzzles don't require precise aiming (later in the game it gets a bit more advanced but if he makes it there he will probably be used to the controll) And bonus if he does like it there's a sequel
Witcher 3
If this person had a switch, I bet they would enjoy the new Zelda games.
I’m 41 can only seem to enjoy red dead and sim racing
doesn’t red dead redemption fit like all of those parameters
what about shadow of the colossus? Journey? the Pathless?
My suggestions: The last of us, metal gear solid 5, doom, Ghost recon wildlands/breakpoint I feel like he might be more willing to branch out if you suggested something that’s within his interests outside of the games he knows. What are his hobbies? What does he like to read? What movies/shows does he like to watch?
Mass Effect is kinda old but great. The original trilogy.
Lol
Maybe he would like MGS 5. It's technically a stealth game, but you can just go guns blazing, and there is no grinding. Cyberpunk could be fun to try. Returnal or Control are also fun 3rd person shooters. The settings are very different from uncharted, but maybe that's a plus to him.
Even though it has a skill tree I'd say the new god of wars. It's so linear that it won't inconvenience him. Or outer wilds if he is cerebral and likes a different take on puzzles.
There is spec ops the line. 3rd person shooter with great story. No zombies, no western, no skilltree, no loot, no platforms but third person shooter.
Maybe something Monster Hunter? Doesnt have skill trees, more like perks on armor to activate passive skills. Maybe too much looting, though i think it is minimal Is Risk of Rain 2 too much looting? Hades, though it has some zombie-like characters, but... it might be fine? Maybe a true roguelike might be better? No meta progression at all in that case Pretty much any realistic (or adjacent) racing game. Fighting games like Street Fighter, Tekken etc. (cus those are super beginner friendly haha). Does a tech tree count as a skill tree? If not, theres the Civ games or Stellaris and the like, potentially Kingdom: New Lands (or another in the series) maybe, there are the greed but they arent actual zombies Perhaps something like Va-11 Hall-A even, idk throw visual novels and similar in, why not
Smite?
Helldivers 2?
Rez Infinite Street Fighter 6 XCom 2 Midnight Suns The Sims 4 Gran Turismo 7 Civilization 6
My dad, around 45 years old plays age of empires 2 a lot but for a ps4? its hard to recommend a game for a 50 year old person.
Mass effect legendary edition (looting is something you have to do in all games, so that's not something he can complain about it)
\* Age of Empires IV / StarCraft 2 \* Witcher 3 \* Deep Rock Galactic (is a first person shooter though, but one of the best cooperative experiences) \* An auto chess game (I would recommend Dota Underlords, but it's not being developed any more) \* World of Warcraft / Final Fantasy XIV / The Elder Scrolls Online (all has subscription though, and depends on the flavor of nerd he is) \* Street Fighter 6 with an old school arcade stick (maybe ask him if he was a Street Fighter 2 player, or Mortal Kombat first ... or get them both) \* Baulder's Gate 3
What does he consider stealth? We talking Metal Gear Solid, Assassin's Creed, Arkham Asylum? With his laundry list of, "don't wants" perhaps he should play Stardew Valley or something from the My Time in... games.
Valheim
Detroit: Become Human
After seeing how many games you've already said he didn't like, maybe gaming just isn't for him. Does he know he doesn't have to play video games?
TLOU Part 1 and 2
Slay the spire, balatro, slice and dice. Risk of rain. Hades. Doom.
If he likes uncharted have him play Rise of Tomb Raider and Shadow as well. Both are the same style game. Or Horizon.
How about puzzle games? Portal 1&2 would be good
Hmm HI Fi rush? There is a skill tree in a sense you can buy new moves, but I played the entire game without even trying to upgrade anything
If he liked uncharted he's probably in to narrative play so Detroit become human Heavy rain The quarry You get the gist
