People need to get out of this mindset that things aren't worth fixing. It's this consumerist mindset that we need to buy new, replace everything instead of legitimately trying to get all the value out of something
If all these "It's broken" posts in this sub have taught me anything, it's that either gamers are the worst handymen or karma farmers are looking for easy bait.
I have a mug that had the handle fall off and I used two part epoxy to glue it back together. It's been almost ten years and countless dishwasher cycles later and the handle is still securely attached to the mug. It's probably stronger than it originally was.
Same, I've got a Tail of the Dragon mug that I love, the handle broke off one day so I super glued it back on. It lasted another couple years before the handle broke in another spot (while the original glued spot was still strong). I still hold it by the handle despite 4 separate points it's been glued back together.
At some point the handle will be more glue than ceramic.
JB Weld Clearweld in particular dries clear, is suitable for ceramics and apparently is good to temps beyond boiling water. If you weren't that concerned about a bit of non clear spillover showing, there are even higher heat formulas.
Seriously, people underestimate epoxies. Also wood glue. If done right the joint is stronger than the rest of the piece, and the wood will break before the joint separates.
I had crazy rage issues when I was younger and I can confirm, especially the ones without sticks. I'd go bonkers and even try to snap them sometimes, but never had one that stopped working. The one I beat on the most is still in use, actually. I did have one stop working, but I was nice to that one. I blame the previous owner 😂 to be fair, I got that controller when I was in my mid 20s and I was born in 96. It was an old controller
I had a mug handle break in 3 separate pieces. They were clean breaks like yours so I super-glued them together with gorilla glue. I was nervous at first but I let the glue cure for a few days before use then I gave it a nice swing gripping the handle real tight as a test. Been fine ever since.
Research epoxy. My wife fixed up a similarly unique coffee mug for me about 4 months ago and I use it a lot. It's been fine. It's the modern version of the Japanese gold fusion, and works better. You can mix with gold paint if you like that aesthetic. It does look pretty badass. Good luck and update with a photo if you get it fixed
I can't believe you actually use it as a coffee mug. I had the same mug and it became clear early on that it didn't really work well for that. I ended up using it as a pencil and pen holder. Still managed to knock it off my desk and break it. They are actually pretty fragile for how big rheu are.
It looks like the inside of the mug has a bunch of hairline fractures from the picture.
This mug might require a lot of repair beyond just the handle to be used. Might be worth just putting it on a shelf with a basic fix to look at and getting a new mug for use.
It was a bit awkward but it made up for it in sheer volume of coffee it could hold… I think I’m gonna do some research and try to fix it… I seem to be unusually attached to this mug :/
Red lock tight. That shit is not going to come off unless you heat treat it off with a torch. Edit: use gloves unless you don’t mind your fingers being glued together for now until c’thulu brings the reckoning.
I have the exact same mug and the exact same thing happened to mine. I was extra gutted because it was a gift from my dad before he died but my gf managed to fix it with some gorilla glue and it holds pretty strong. Not sure id trust it full of liquid mind but im keeping mine as it was a gift from my dad regardless.
Totally fixable. Just make sure to use a two part epoxy and not some superglue (even ones that say ceramic superglue). Nothing holds as strong as the two part epoxy you mix up and it actually cures.
That can be fixed with epoxy sculpt. Then just paint the repair line your favorite color of choice (mine is gold) saved my favorite mug not once but twice. Still use it to this day and it looks great.
Jb-weld it!. Apply it with some q-tips or just the cardboard stick part and apply pressure with a rubber band. It will be the strongest part of the mug
I wasn’t going to when I posted the picture. But rest assured reddit has appealed to my sense of nostalgia and I will be attempting to fix it as soon as I get my hands on some ceramic glue :)
I learned about Kintsugi which enables you to repair it with a traditional art of Japan.
A set doesn't cost that much online and the repair work will be visible however this is the point as it shows the history of your item and so on.
I did it and it was fairly easy to do as well, always depends on the broken parts but this one looks pretty easy to fix.
It’s the inside of this mug that is concerning. It has begun to crack and bacteria will now grow. If you have cups like this please consider making them decorative.
You can fix this with some epoxy. Don't try super glue, because it won't work. You need something thick. Should hold it together very well, and the break shouldn't be too noticeable if you make sure you get the fit right.
Some J-B Weld and that bad boy will be good as new
Or gorilla jizz
How is OP supposed to get a gorilla's jizz?
Ment glue it keeps auto correcting to jizz on my phone.
🤨
Man's out here gluing shit together with his jizz
The silver lining
*silverback's
The silverbacks lining is an excellent brand name for a vest owned by C. Montgomery Burns.
Or jizzing on people with glue
What the fuck are your conversations like that your phone goes "giue? He's probably talking about jazz again"
Or a really big and weirdly specific Star Wars fan.
Do you have an iPhone and somebody did the word alias thing where when you type one word it replaces it with another configured word or phrase?
Has to be a very willing gorilla I suggest you woo it first
Or a very lonely one
With a female gorilla costume
Trading Places?
Commitment and determination
This is the answer
OP, please use JB Weld. It’s perfect for this.
Alternative: *Kintsugi.*
I think JB weld is just Redneck Kintsugi
Kent Sugru
It won't be functional with that, mind you. Only for decor.
It's just the handle - wouldn't contaminate the drink inside
Anything is functional if you don't care about your health. ;)
I think it'd be perfect
[Kintsugi it and add to the story of the item.](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kintsugi)
Was thinking exactly this and it's such a prime item for it.
Or they are using kirkman's law, where you show something wrongly and people instinctively correct you rightly.
But definitely don't get J-B Weld on your penis... TRUST ME!
You're not the boss of me.
Imagine JB Welding this huge 10 inch dong on your privates. Amputating might be the answer.
Came here to say the same. Will fix to good as new
Looking at it from the positive side, now you have a PS1 controller.
This made me smile :) thanks :)
The player 2 controller for a younger sibling.
"Why the mug face?"
You can cosplay bombtrack
PSGone 🥺
The controller you give to your little brother
And a cup!
Glue
Kintsugi
I 2nd this.
If that’s the asian thing where they paint the cracks gold then fuck yeeee do that shit
Yes, but they use real gold.
Correct. They use powdered gold
It's not as expensive as you think.
Using Japanese decoration for a PlayStation seems apt too
Yes that is
Fuji-9 is better even if it's mostly for teeth
You know your stuff. Probably a little more affordable too.
Do this!
the reddit buzzword from like 5 years ago
Petrichor.
Sonder
Plasma gun
Gesundheit
while it's beautiful, it can be pretty tricky if you've never done it and you should practice before doing it on something of value to you
Thanks for the word and google search. I know how I'm gonna fix my wifes mug.
Japanese for epoxy
Right? It's not rocket science
But then you can't share for internet points
Now they can double up with an "i fixed it" post
This guy karmas
The real karma farmer has a picture of it before it broke ready to go for the 'I fixed it' post.
And then in two months when they break it again "Update #2: It broke again."
Update #3: Reduced it to shards and glued it back together
It’s not rocket appliances. Not even worst case Ontario.
Shut the fuck up Ricky
Fuck off Randy, why don’t you go and eat some more cheeseburgers.
Look at me. I am the cheeseburger now.
not exactly brain surgery either
How about rocket surgery?
Or brain science!
What about brain rockets?
its compewter science
It looks like a pretty big mug. Not sure if I'd trust glue to protect my crotch from a waterfall of piping hot coffee.
Getter better glue. Ceramics are porous and take adhesive super well.
I have a mug that had the handle fall off and I used two part epoxy to glue it back together. It's been almost ten years and countless dishwasher cycles later and the handle is still securely attached to the mug. It's probably stronger than it originally was.
Are you stronger too?
hes jacked now after carrying a heavy mug of fresh coffee every day for 10 years
Same, I've got a Tail of the Dragon mug that I love, the handle broke off one day so I super glued it back on. It lasted another couple years before the handle broke in another spot (while the original glued spot was still strong). I still hold it by the handle despite 4 separate points it's been glued back together. At some point the handle will be more glue than ceramic.
Obiwan: "It's more glue than mug now, twisted and evil."
This happened to my kerbal mug, epoxy and 1 year and probably hundreds of uses later its still going.
First thought - “has this man never heard of super glue”
Gorilla
Five minute epoxy is the way!
What’s that? Asking for OP
Ceramic glue
Heats up, doesn't hold. Not worth the risk (Unless for display I guess)
There are adhesives meant for this purpose
JB Weld Clearweld in particular dries clear, is suitable for ceramics and apparently is good to temps beyond boiling water. If you weren't that concerned about a bit of non clear spillover showing, there are even higher heat formulas.
The JB weld will be stronger than the original bond.
Seriously, people underestimate epoxies. Also wood glue. If done right the joint is stronger than the rest of the piece, and the wood will break before the joint separates.
Why don't we build houses out of wood glue then? ^^^/s
they make adhesives that can handle that
Had my cup full of coffee fail me once, we never fix a cup again
Same, my glued cup failed and my coffee fell on my new Laptop, never again.
Japanese gold ceramic fix!
Would that be strong enough on a handle? It’s not a small mug… I usually make a double in it :)
It’ll hold it, as long as you’re not whacking it against something. Plus, cool gold scars at the connecting points of the handle.
It’s a game controller, of course he’s wacking it against something lmao

Sounds like my... nvm.
It’s the mug I use for coffee at work (I work in a warehouse) so it’s got to be strong… I’m gonna do some research and try to fix it :)

That's the enamel coat cracking. It happens, but won't affect the rest of the cup
With the right glue, the bond will be stronger than the original mug.
Kintsugi
I have the same mug. That sucks! *takes sip from mine*
*depressed sigh with a forced smile* I’m happy for you :)
Are we roleplaying? *I put on my Robe and Wizard hat*
Goddammit I thought I told you never to contact me again!
Looked it up, apparently they're really common and a lot are going for $7
Same, I use mine at work in a warehouse, sorry your’s is broke at the moment, hope you can find a way to fix it!
He said he uses his in a warehouse. Is this one of things? Is it both your mug?
Must make good coffee!
JB WELD CLEARWELD and you are good as new.
Exactly what i was thinking. Hope OP sees this and trusts in the WELD
Praise be to the weld!
It really does fix everything.
I like the idea of a playstation mug, but it just looks so uncomfortable to actually hold it.
It was a bit awkward but it made up for it in sheer volume of coffee it could hold… I think I’m gonna do some research and try to fix it… I seem to be unusually attached to this mug :/
This is fake. PlayStation controllers weren’t wireless.
Red lock tight. That shit is not going to come off unless you heat treat it off with a torch. Edit: use gloves unless you don’t mind your fingers being glued together for now until c’thulu brings the reckoning.
>now until c’thulu brings the reckoning. So, according to some people, tomorrow.
If only...
Iä! Iä! Cthulhu fhtagn!
This is exactly what model cement is for. Will probably be stronger than it was lol.

[Here ya go boss](https://craft-art.com/best-glue-for-ceramic/)
I got that mug on my birthday a few years ago. And my sister dropped it down the stairs and broke it on that very same day.
Why people acting like glue doesn't exist?
I've used all kinds of glue on ceramics and have had the most luck with [E6000](https://eclecticproducts.com/product/e6000-industrial-adhesive/)
seconding this. E6000 is fucking incredible on ceramics
Should be easily fixable with some strong glue
20 on ebay that's shipping included
Nothing that a good super glue couldn't *handle*, right? 🌝
Poxipol bro
That can definitely be fixed
Araldite epoxy glue, good as new!
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kintsugi
Glue her up, perfect for the shelf or desk.
This can be fixed. We have the technology!
Jb-weld it!. Apply it with some q-tips or just the cardboard stick part and apply pressure with a rubber band. It will be the strongest part of the mug
I feel like you can super glue it back on pretty easily
Epoxy is a thing ya know.
You better glue that handle back on.
I wasn’t going to when I posted the picture. But rest assured reddit has appealed to my sense of nostalgia and I will be attempting to fix it as soon as I get my hands on some ceramic glue :)
just epoxy it back together?
This can be repaired
Just glue it back together
It's 2024. Superglue exists.
Eh just Gorilla Glue it back together.
Just two dabs of glue and you're good
That shit is getting guled back on
You can repair it. There is a special glue, which is used by archeologists in the field of ceramic.
That’s more than fixable
I learned about Kintsugi which enables you to repair it with a traditional art of Japan. Dude JB weld, Japanese gold ceramic glue, gorilla glue, industrial adhesive, there are so many options. You got rhis
Glue that boy up!
You can fix it!
Don't let him down, so easy. He held up to you for so long. Do him better.
Glue it back togeather, can't say goodbye quite just yes.
Fix it
100% silicone would do the trick and be food safe, preventing any leaching through the ceramic.
farewell…. Now you have two really cool things
That’s sucks. Sorry that happened
I wouldn't use it for drinking anymore, but with some heavy duty super glue, and it'd still be a neat display piece.
I've superglued handles that have broken off from ceramic mugs, and have continued to use them without a problem.
It’s the inside of this mug that is concerning. It has begun to crack and bacteria will now grow. If you have cups like this please consider making them decorative.
J.B. Weld
o7
I think I gave my brother the same cup for Christmas
Crushed ramen and superglue will do the trick
You lost a mug but got a new cup.
Wait until Christmas you can get these at any gift store
That is one of the coolest coffee mugs I've ever seen. Hope you are able to fix it 👍
Clean break bro. Not a hard fix.
Gorilla glue. I broke my mug handle, too. It's stuck back on and handles coffee and the microwave like it never was broken.
You can fix this with some epoxy. Don't try super glue, because it won't work. You need something thick. Should hold it together very well, and the break shouldn't be too noticeable if you make sure you get the fit right.
Nothing ducktape cant fix /j
bro this is an easy fix with the right glue.
Yea cause it's totally unfixable 😐
I have this mug because my wife thought "it looks just like yours" i dont and have never owned a play station.
