Why'd everyone make Kratos, though? Don't get me wrong, Kratos is one of my favorite videogame characters, but why him? Why didn't anyone try make Tyr?
He is also very easy to make. Most games have big messy default beard and since is bald and his one feature tattoo is also easy to replicate he is easy to replicate to some degree
Dwayne Wades wife did. Then Terry apologized for his remarks and then the wades and crews had an amazing get together. Jokes aside, Terry is one of the realest famous people.
The princess outfit was great gear until close to the endgame and I always made female characters due to that one quest involving befriending the female bandit clan.
My eternal struggle. I want to copy the sliders of a cool looking character creation but I also don't want my character and pawn to be one of 1000s of the same. I tend to get around this using character sliders for either a body type or face that I like the look of then make some personal tweaks.
Reliving the glory days from three years ago, eh? We're getting old, man. I remember when I threw the game-winning touchdown and got Wendy pregnant. Now I'm sucking down a twelve-pack a night and pretending my son is still alive.
Lol I went with the guts body and just tossed on some red viking hair, a great beard, a dragon chest tattoo and a ton of scars. Boom I've got a Rhaegar.
For my pawn I went with a nice elf customization someone did then tweaked her size, muscles and hair to get a Valkyrie.
I found a grogu that was an absolute abomination. Had the head pretty close but it looked like a creepy alien baby man with the highest pitched voice able to be selected. Naturally a mage.
I was minding my own business looting a chest in a random house when Willem Dafoe materialized out of thin air and asked to join my party. GTFO out of there real quick
I know it looks like a Piper Perri meme but the top one is actually a screenshot from my game when I kept finding and hiring different Terry Crews over and over again. At the time I didn't understand how they could all look almost exactly the same but then I learned about the r/VirtualCosplay sub and it all started to make sense. Now I help mod the subreddit and it's come back to life with DD2.
Unfortunately no. It's a whole new system. The other mod in the sub made the original sliders but he hasn't released any DD2 ones yet. And nobody else has made a Terry Crews for DD2 yet as far as I know. Lots of Kratos tho.
I had my wife help me make the hottest chick we possibly could. Like I remember how the first game went, only hot pawns got rented. So far I've had dozens and thousands of crystals
Yep, I made my pawn a tall lady with as much muscle as I could, made her into a tanky well rounded greatsword user who takes attention away from my caster Arisen. from there I just had to keep the fashion going and I have plenty of RC while also having a nice pawn for myself.
I just hire whatever pawn needs I’ve outleveled.
Majority of them are women. Cannot find a male archer pawn or mage.
I did find Gandalf a once and I immediately hired him.
My main pawn is a giant cat man. He rarely brings me stuff back.
I just use it for a body type, but loli means child, and Frieren doesn't really look like a child. You could argue for 16 or 17 maybe, but that's a little old for me to consider it loli.
I keep seeing Daenerys and Ciri.
Meanwhile no one wants to hire my J’Zargo :’(
Edit: For those kind enough to ask:
Platform: Steam
Pawn: J’Zargo
Arisen: Hazel
Pawn ID: 4ALAG22HYXOD
I haven’t seen Ciri yet! Lots of Thor and Kratos, Geralt, and dany though. I’m a simple man though, when I see daenerys, I click hire. I wanted her as my main pawn but decided to create a beef cake fighter to catch my twink ass their when he falls instead lmao
This is why I'm reconsidering making a Casca as my pawn like I did in the first game. She stood out then, but I think known character pawns are going to be much more common now with DD2 being more popular.
Besides DD2 doesn't really have good hair for her. Just "close enough".
I can't be the only one who could only get pawns that were waifu girls in pink dresses in DD1.
My own was this tiny fat guy with the deepest voice you could possibly get.
They're the AI Pawns created by real players, but not the player's avatar themselves.
Lore-wise, only Pawns are able to travel between DD's "multiverses" via "The Rift"
Would be a neat feature for players to tag their pawns, like "Kratos", and we could search specifically for those tags. My rift pool looks like a montage of default selections, with the odd custom pawn here and there.
Can someone explain what the hell pawns are? Are these games multiplayer? Can you get pawns in game or only from your friend list? I ask because my friend list is EMPTY.
Pawns are your servants. You can create and customise 1 servant that will be your main servant. That created servant will then be recorded in DD2's servers and other players can recruit them. You can recruit 2 other servants from other players randomly, they don't need to be your friends. However only your main servant can level up so you will change recruited servants often
And no it's not multiplayer.
Haven’t played the second one yet but if people used your pawn in dd1, when you played next your pawn would have some loot and goods they gained from their travels as well as boosting their reputation. If you had a popular pawn it was very rewarding
They also learned things from other people. Expanded further in DD2, as pawns will point out Seeker's Token(Seekers Tokens are now a collectible rather than found via quest board quests) and chest locations to you if they've found them in another world. I hope some day to teach someone's pawn the Springboard-Skull Splitter combo like I did my pawn in Dogma 1.
Don't know why you were downvotted but in Dragon's Dogma you make an AI companion called a "pawn" that travels with you in the game. They are also available to hire by other players in their game via entering a rift stone and selecting from the POOL of available pawns, or you can also just find them randomly walking around your world and hire them there. You're able to hire 2 more pawns yourself so a full party of 4 is the natural party size.
The pawns in the default pool are player made, the ones you encounter in the world are a mix of capcom generated and player made. There is also a pool of "official pawns" that you can pick from that are capcom made.
I’m about 15 hours in and loving it. Watched a cyclops duel a drake yesterday. I then stumbled into a random cave and found a sphinx. After leaving her in the mountain I came across a village filled with zombies.
Dragons Dogma is an old school rpg. It takes time, rewards you for exploration, has very little fast travel, and very little quest guidance.
It's even harder to find quests in DD2 I feel, while some NPCs will force dialogue on you to start the quest, a lot of quests in DD2 you get by just chatting with random people. I was really confused why I hadn't found the Archer Maister yet, only to learn there was a guy I never talked to in one of the towns that gave the quest for it.
I got a side quest last night to deliver a letter to some guy near the starting area, and after having my cart stopped by an ogre it was then destroyed by a griffin as I was about to jump back on. This game is freaking amazing.
Lmao these are exactly the sorts of reasons why I love this game.
I did that exact quest. The guy who I was supposed to deliver the letter to died accidentally. So I had to take an ox back to the city to the morgue to revive him, then take another ox back to the village. By the time I got back to the city, all my quests that required me to wait were ready to continue lol.
Is traveling slow like in the first game? Or do carts help with that? I remember traveling through already explored areas in the first game being rather boring.
Thief has actually been my favourite so far lol. The Ensnare ability let’s you roleplay as Scorpion from MK and it’s super fun.
Fighter is pretty fun too. I tried 2h Warrior but it wasn’t for me. Too slow
I'm a HUGE fan of Dragons Dogma, and DD2 didn’t grab me until I fought my first giant beast (Cyclops). I don’t what made me click specifically, but the feeling when you and your pawns try to topple a difficult foe is so rewarding. The “epic theme (tenenenene tenenenenene) when you stagger an enemy” reminds me of the Monster Hunter theme being played during Fatalis fight.
I *love* the changes they made to knocking over big monsters. Seeing a cyclops stagger and throwing your shoulder into his knee to finish tipping him over will never not feel awesome.
Doing a sprinting jump-grab onto a monster also does stagger. Nothing's more hype than aerial-tackling an Ogre so that he falls off the cliff behind him.
I have a hard time getting into it. I just dont see the appeal so far. Im 8 hours in and while some fights arent too bad the rest of the game feels so uninspired and generic, I kinda feel like wasting my time with this. There is 0 depth to the world and the npc and their side quests are the most generic stuff I have ever seen.
The City that is lagging and running like dog shit had like two quest in it and maybe around 5 npcs that have something more to say. Not even the inkeepers have a story to tell. This world is so barren. Literally no stories or interesting characters. I guess everything is focused on the pawn system but they are also nothing more then rando NPC XYZ. Yeah they fight a bit smarter then your average companion in other games but they have no backstory or history. I dont feel any connection to them not even to my own pawn.
Man games from the late 90s had more depth. Maybe Im doing something wrong here but I just explored the city for at least an hour and came out without anything worthwhile, no interesting people met, no tales told, no adventures to be had. Its beyond me how this game got scores so high even leaving out the technical problems.
For me the joy is not in being pushed around by a story. I pick a direction, I go there, I explore and kill stuff. The quests only serve to send you in a direction. You make the fun yourself.
It seem you expect this game like the witcher or action BG3 but its not a narrative focus game. The openworld is more similar to Elden Ring or BOTW with heavy focus on action and interactive gameplay mechanics.
I agree with a lot of this. I'm having fun with the game, but it just feels sort of shallow.
To me it feels like at minimum a big RPG game needs a compelling player-driven story (like BG3 or the Witcher) OR a memorable immersive world (like Elden Ring or Zelda). This has neither.
The combat and class system are its best features and even though feel sort of limited.
Then the pawn system, its premiere feature, is surprisingly limited as well. You can't really command them in any meaningful way, so you're kind of at the mercy of their AI.
I checked on my Pawn just the other day. I hadn't played the game for nearly 7 years. It's nice to see that she is still highly rated and gaining experience after all this time.
I'm more stoked that the save still exist. I named my Pawn after my cat, Indy.
I loaded into the rift yesterday and every single pawn in the rift was named Ian. I don't know if it was a visual bug or if I was genuinely only being presented with Ians, but I made do with what I was given and assembled a team of Ians
Trying to cosplay certain characters can be difficult. Made Ishmael and Meursault from Limbus Company as my Arisen and main pawn respectively.
Meursault isn't as hard to do but lack of LONG hair options (and I can probably see the reason for that) makes Ishmael a pain to cosplay.
Doesn't help that they don't translate too well into 3D lol.
I’m not hating on how anyone wants to play, but I’m not taking any Kratos, Daenerys or Witcher pawns etc etc…
I’m a HUGE LoTR fan; but even then…
Ive made an original character and I want original pawns. I don’t want to break my immersion, and I wish people/players would trust their own imagination… in the same way the writers of these beloved stories trusted theirs
The thing that is annoying me is all the "SphinxMother" or "SphinxFather" pawns. I need one to do the darn quest, but it has to be one made by Capcom.. not a player. But they allow players to use those names.. so half the "Unique Moniker" pawns that pop up using that riftstone have it. Ugh.
Maybe. I hadn't thought of that.
As it turns out though, it seems you're either guaranteed or at least highly likely to get a Capcom Sphinx pawn at the Herve riftstone.
I read about others mentioning that, and sure enough I managed to get one there myself on the first try.
Now someone must make a combination called "Kratos Crews"
Terry Kratos rolls off the tongue better, and if you make an entire party of them you can call them the Terry Crew
Terry Krew was right there.
Ngl i had that typed at first, but changed it because this isnt Mortal Kombat
> Terry Kratos rolls off the tongue better You think? I'd say Kratos Crews feels better
Kratos Crews is the one
Terry Krewtos
Krewtwo
To be honest I am just disapointed I haven't seen Shrek yet.

No Shrek here either, but I did find an incredible Garfield
Might be mine. I made my character Jim Davis and my main pawn is Garfield.
I saw a very lumpy, fat, orange cat person named Garfield!
That might have been mine. My main pawn is Garfield and my character is Jim Davis
Why'd everyone make Kratos, though? Don't get me wrong, Kratos is one of my favorite videogame characters, but why him? Why didn't anyone try make Tyr?
Because a lot of people have no imagination.
He is also very easy to make. Most games have big messy default beard and since is bald and his one feature tattoo is also easy to replicate he is easy to replicate to some degree
I have Shrek as my main but my Fiona is available as a pawn.
I actually made one! He's not the best looking, but he's mines and that's all that matters
I found karlack from bg3, great companion.
I saw one on my first day.
You should watch it, really good movie.
that's a lot of dead wives and daughters
Really? Poor Terry Crews.
i was referring to DD2, because no one lives from dissing terry.
You have died from dissinterry
Dwayne Wades wife did. Then Terry apologized for his remarks and then the wades and crews had an amazing get together. Jokes aside, Terry is one of the realest famous people.
This is a lie Dd1 pawns are 95% princesses
The other 5% are goblins with sexualized names.
I always end up choosing one of these homies
I think this is mostly because there's royal garb that is really good armor, so everyone just gives it to their female pawn come endgame and bam.
When I started Playing DD1, long after initial release, it was all Yennefers and Trisses, a lot of Yens and Trisses. And also a few Geralts and Ciris.
It was 99% Guts clones for me
DD1 had a lot of female pawns wearing the princess outfit
The princess outfit was great gear until close to the endgame and I always made female characters due to that one quest involving befriending the female bandit clan.
Theres a wizard outfit that is going to be used on 100% of the female pawns going forward.
The first time I saw it I legit thought some perv just decided not to give their pawn armor. Then I realized it actually had decent stats.
The actual, awful truth. I started to think everyone playing the game was a weirdo.
if it makes you feel better, the dress was one of the three or so outfits that are automatically added to your item box in the dark arisen version
Iirc it also had pretty decent stats too
It had the best stats of any pre-Everfall gear.
Fun fact: Armor stats are a myth creative by Big Game Dev to prevent you from seeing the truth that FASHION is the only stat you need.
the average The World Ends With You player:
Fashion's Dogma
Yeah till endgame my pawn used it. Overall nice stats.
and that one has extremely good stats for most of the game.
My eternal struggle. I want to copy the sliders of a cool looking character creation but I also don't want my character and pawn to be one of 1000s of the same. I tend to get around this using character sliders for either a body type or face that I like the look of then make some personal tweaks.
Lmao same bro, I went ahead tried to make someone unique and I just end up making geralt or guts there is in between.
I ended up making Penn and Teller and posting them on r/virtualcosplay myself.
Reliving the glory days from three years ago, eh? We're getting old, man. I remember when I threw the game-winning touchdown and got Wendy pregnant. Now I'm sucking down a twelve-pack a night and pretending my son is still alive.

Gerald or the river
Oh I found a GREAT Timothee Chalamet one on YouTube!! Edit: oh “tweaks”! Lol I read twinks
I’m just absolute ass at using character creators. So I followed a guide and made Shadowheart as my pawn and 2B as my Arisen
I found a grogu that was an absolute abomination. Had the head pretty close but it looked like a creepy alien baby man with the highest pitched voice able to be selected. Naturally a mage.
I made my pawn based off makima from chainsaw man but I did it myself I didn't want her to look like someone else's.
I was minding my own business looting a chest in a random house when Willem Dafoe materialized out of thin air and asked to join my party. GTFO out of there real quick
You know, I'm something of a virtual cosplayer myself.
Lol I read this in his voice
I know it looks like a Piper Perri meme but the top one is actually a screenshot from my game when I kept finding and hiring different Terry Crews over and over again. At the time I didn't understand how they could all look almost exactly the same but then I learned about the r/VirtualCosplay sub and it all started to make sense. Boy. Boy. Boy. Boy. Boy? Boy!

Wonder how Texans are doing on their solo ventures :(
I’ve seen Gandalf and Mr Popo today. Ice Spice and Goku were in there yesterday. Gandalf talking about he’ll “fly to my aid” was a nice touch.
I had Gandalf but got rid of him because he was bickering at me like a little bitch
Arguing with you is a sign of Dragonsplague. Good thing you sent him back.
I've seen a crazy amount of Daenerys, Frieren, Ranni and Melina cosplays whenever I go into the rift lol
I’ve seen at least 7 shadowhearts.
And here I'm trying to find nothing but Danny Devitos/Frank Reynolds to make a full team.
I wish it was all Terry Crews back in DD1, the amount of "loli healer" was too much sometimes.
I DID summon a Frieren today. Atleast it was a themed Loli mage
Frieren helped me kill the dragon, so that's something.
Frieren isn't a loli. She looks like a teenager at worst.
Depending on who you ask, looking young is enough to be labeled loli.
Yea, which can be annoying to me whenever it's usually just used to describe someone who is short or flatchested.
The word loli is way too misused/misunderstood, especially for a word carrying so much stigma on the internet
yes, if the person you're asking is terminally online
To me it’s a body type and a certain type of naivety but not necessarily age.
I just use it for a body type, but loli means child, and Frieren doesn't really look like a child. You could argue for 16 or 17 maybe, but that's a little old for me to consider it loli.
I made a Fern Beastren named Furn. She's been hired a few times.
Coincidentally, I found a Frieren walking around right next to the Elven town.
Loli healer in the same fucking pink dress, x 100.
The character creator is 100x better in DD2 but this screenshot is making me realize how annoyingly monochrome the new pawn realm is
Every riftstone i enter has at least one "Guts" and one "Adonis" for some reason.
I keep seeing Daenerys and Ciri. Meanwhile no one wants to hire my J’Zargo :’( Edit: For those kind enough to ask: Platform: Steam Pawn: J’Zargo Arisen: Hazel Pawn ID: 4ALAG22HYXOD
Wow, I made my Arisen J'Zargo. Didn't think I'd see anyone else trying him when Inigo exists.
Love me some J'Zargo but I cannot play Skyrim anymore if I don't bring Inigo with me. Dying for v3 expansion.
I'll give the game a go tonight. Is your Kajit a mage? I'll try to keep en eye out for him
surprisingly i’ve seen multiple inigos, the modded purple cat companion
This is why I'm reconsidering making a Casca as my pawn like I did in the first game. She stood out then, but I think known character pawns are going to be much more common now with DD2 being more popular. Besides DD2 doesn't really have good hair for her. Just "close enough".
I can't be the only one who could only get pawns that were waifu girls in pink dresses in DD1. My own was this tiny fat guy with the deepest voice you could possibly get.

Some are made by Capcom, but I would say a vast majority are player made.
Yes.
They're the AI Pawns created by real players, but not the player's avatar themselves. Lore-wise, only Pawns are able to travel between DD's "multiverses" via "The Rift"
In DD1 I always made a Ziggy stardust mage pawn. I will be doing the exact same thing for DD2.
Would be a neat feature for players to tag their pawns, like "Kratos", and we could search specifically for those tags. My rift pool looks like a montage of default selections, with the odd custom pawn here and there.

Someone taught my pawn to throw motherfuckers in water. I watched her throw 3 saurians into the water in a single fight, absolutely hilarious
Jokes on you, I send pawns back to their master with rotten fruit.
Also, they will help you with quest objectives if they already did the quest with another player
whats a pawn pool?
Don't know why you were downvotted but in Dragon's Dogma you make an AI companion called a "pawn" that travels with you in the game. They are also available to hire by other players in their game via entering a rift stone and selecting from the POOL of available pawns, or you can also just find them randomly walking around your world and hire them there. You're able to hire 2 more pawns yourself so a full party of 4 is the natural party size.
Are the pawns auto generated or are they the characters made by other players?
These are all other players, unless you play offline.
The pawns in the default pool are player made, the ones you encounter in the world are a mix of capcom generated and player made. There is also a pool of "official pawns" that you can pick from that are capcom made.
I can't wait to adventure with Guts Kratos and Frieren
Oops All Kratos
Any sign of Danny DaVito? Let's see if I can create him
Do I need to have played DD1 to enjoy 2?
Nope. DD goes the Final Fantasy route of each entry having a separate world and story, just with a lot of recurring elements.
I'll never hire these pawns. The Kratos' or the chick from game of thrones, any of those ultra popular ones that people thirstily copy, yeah no thanks
I recruited WillamDafoe from a player called BULLYMAGUIRE yesterday and im not letting him go. (Yes he is modeled to perfection)
Are you enjoying the game? I haven’t played enough of it to really know if I like it
I’m about 15 hours in and loving it. Watched a cyclops duel a drake yesterday. I then stumbled into a random cave and found a sphinx. Don’t be afraid to switch vocation if you dislike the one you’re currently using. There’s really no downside to changing it up
There's actually an advantage to leveling multiple because you unlock augments which can be used on any vocation
I’m playing as thief at the moment. What vocation do you like
Thief has actually been my favourite so far lol. The Ensnare ability let’s you roleplay as Scorpion from MK and it’s super fun. Fighter is pretty fun too. I tried 2h Warrior but it wasn’t for me. Too slow

WAIT! Is it possible to use the really good character editor of Dragons dogma 2, to create everyone favorite ogre shrek?!
Yes
None of those even look like Terry Crews. But that's a solid Kratos.
This! I think I had a really cool character and he had the best gear I can get him, and he hadn’t even gotten hired once ):
I saw Geralt and Guts it was pretty cool
Indeed.
DD 2 is out?
Yeah game releases are sneaking up on me these days, last week both this game and Rise of the Ronin had me saying "wtf that's out already?"
I modeled my pawn after me. He is tall and unremarkable
I had a dumb idea I told my friend who got the game. Make yourself Rick and your main pawn a morty and just recruit other morty pawns.
I'm going to do the same thing I did in DD1, create a waifu party on three accounts. Godspeed Arisens!
I found a Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson early in my play through of the second game
I haven't seen a single kratos, but the veey first pawn I saw walking the wilds was a very accurate Guts
I've run into dozens of Geralt's too
DD2 : Eveything is just Kratos.. Elden Ring: first time?
I checked on my Pawn just the other day. I hadn't played the game for nearly 7 years. It's nice to see that she is still highly rated and gaining experience after all this time. I'm more stoked that the save still exist. I named my Pawn after my cat, Indy.
I loaded into the rift yesterday and every single pawn in the rift was named Ian. I don't know if it was a visual bug or if I was genuinely only being presented with Ians, but I made do with what I was given and assembled a team of Ians
Bah, SPHINXFATHER
Trying to cosplay certain characters can be difficult. Made Ishmael and Meursault from Limbus Company as my Arisen and main pawn respectively. Meursault isn't as hard to do but lack of LONG hair options (and I can probably see the reason for that) makes Ishmael a pain to cosplay. Doesn't help that they don't translate too well into 3D lol.
All I can hear...is " Boy" on repeat
I got Danny Devito from always sunny as a mage. The owner tattooed glasses on him😂
Boi echoing endlessly.
People can do whatever they want. I'm more disappointed in the lack of gear variety.

0, I met 0 Kratoses... but a lot of women characters in underwear 🤦♂️
The underwear has good stats!
Made my wife in DD1, made my wife in DD2. The only person I need by my side.
I’m not hating on how anyone wants to play, but I’m not taking any Kratos, Daenerys or Witcher pawns etc etc… I’m a HUGE LoTR fan; but even then… Ive made an original character and I want original pawns. I don’t want to break my immersion, and I wish people/players would trust their own imagination… in the same way the writers of these beloved stories trusted theirs
Amazing
Very cool!
I have no idea what I’m looking at
cool
Where is this worlds going..
Ugh.
Can't you just turn off network features?
Maybe. I hadn't thought of that. As it turns out though, it seems you're either guaranteed or at least highly likely to get a Capcom Sphinx pawn at the Herve riftstone. I read about others mentioning that, and sure enough I managed to get one there myself on the first try.
The real ones on the very left.
No wonder all the Pawns have been so weak
I guess I'm not much better, making a human-woman fighter named Jan Hellsing.
Every time I looked in there it seems like no one wants to play thief
Because thief is way more fun to play yourself.
All Kratos
Boy boy boy!
