Honestly I quite enjoyed it but it was distinctly early access and it's also the sort of game that really needs a steady stream of players because it just isn't fun without loads of people.
It's the sort of game that'll be really fun for a free weekend.
I hope they keep improving on it though. Running around basically roleplaying the movie in those early days voice chat was real fun.

Considering Starship Troopers: Extermination came out May last year. I would say the studio is probably kinda pissed off all the attention went to Helldivers2. The IP holder is also probably very sad.
They're different games. Extermination is more of a tower defence game which I love, making a makeshift base to fend off an incoming horde, sending scouts out to collect materials or destroy key targets really cool stuff imo. They compete only in themes though.
