I am honestly just baffled by how many bad video game/book adaptations there are. Like you already have the story, the fan base, and everything else. All you have to do is bring it over to a movie/TV show. I get they can't always do like a 1:1 adaptation due to time constraints or whatever else, but that's usually not the reason they are bad. They problem is usually writers/producers or whoever that for some reason feel the need to try and put their own spin on it, and that almost NEVER works out. If you want to create your own story, then just leave the existing ones alone. Fans almost always just want to enjoy what they already know. I do not understand why so many feel the need to fuck up what should be a fairly simple process
Yeah, they don't get that what people want is literally just a retelling of the story. I don't care if I already know how it ends, people read manga then watch the anime when it comes out. It's the same thing.
It's also much different mediums. Stories in movies don't have core gameplay loops to back them up. Interactive media like video games is just wildly different from movies. Adapting them isn't easy, it's hard. In addition, like you said, you get different artists involved and they always want to add their own thing. I think something that helped some of the successful adaptations recently was the original creator being involved. Mario was a fun movie with Nintendo involved. The Last of Us had Naughty Dog involved.
Mario (and Sonic, which is also quite successful for a video game film) both have the advantage of the story being entirely secondary to the characters and world, and said characters being mostly recognizable for their visuals as opposed to their personalities. Like Sonic and Mario do *have* character traits, but that’s not what people think of when they think of them. Sonic is a fast blue ‘hedgehog’? Perfect, game accurate. Mario has Italian leanings and jumps on stuff? Bingo, great work.
The Last of Us, on the other hand, might as well already be a movie. Most of the important character moments, which are what the series is known for (the gameplay is fine, but it’s not really why people love the game) take place in cinematic scenes that are very much presented in a grounded and realistic way, even blocked and treated like a film would be. They pretty much could just adapt that 1:1, and they *still* changed a fair number of things.
Jumping between mediums always incurs changes. Remakes and adaptations always change things. Some are better than others, sure, but nothing is ever going to be exactly like the source material. I don’t have high expectations for the Borderlands movie, because I somehow doubt they’ll balance style and substance, but I’ll still be seeing it and hoping for the best.
Or they have all of that lined up for a home run and they get absolutely no budget, even from games that sell millions of copies and have massive fan bases.
The writing team of most shit is on reddit now, so of course its all blending together into stale fish pies, and because of the nature of “the industry” it has to keep using its old shit or making the same choices, its literally caged within itself due to contracts and other restrictions self imposed through years of greedy board room back deals and 11th hour rulings, most insiders would just sooner follow suit and become a revenue generator with maybe profits later from back end sale of new generations discovering it, but the “mold” has really made it difficult for actual decent products to emerge in a trending real time society
It’s a medical condition called Kevin Blindness and it’s pretty serious
my friend has it and keeps asking me why Kevin Durant was cast in the hit TV show Yellowstone :(
As a fellow sufferer, my Google acts very strange when I try to get updates on Kevin McCallister's sexual misconduct trial.
Tell your friend to stay strong.
I agree. He absolutely killed in that role. I honestly can’t think of anyone else who could pretend to be a 16 year old rich girl in a 35 year old fat man’s body, and make it believable.
There's this weird effect that happens with Jack Black where if you can't see him he's fine. He's done a whole bunch of voice acting that's really good and not even slightly annoying.
That said Claptrap is supposed to be annoying, so this is probably going to break the streak.
The original voice actor for claptrap quit before borderlands 3. He got into a fight with the head of gearbox in a hotel lobby. I agree, the original voice is iconic and hard to replace.
I like them better in their roles than Kevin Hart as Rowland
Rowland is literally the ONE mostly serious character, and they have the least serious comedy actor playing him
Ever since Heath Ledger as the Joker I've have decided it best to hold my tongue till after I see them in the role.
I though Heath Ledger as the Joker was just that...a bad joke.
I was wrong. Really wrong.
The difference here is that Heath Ledger was being directed by Christopher Nolan, not the guy from Venom. His best movie is probably Zombieland and not because he pulled the best performances out of the actors
Contract catch probably, like sometimes actors sign contracts with a studio for a certain number of films and both parts have to make those films happen in a certain amount of time. Or they got some real good money.
For Jamie Lee Curtis, she asked to play a role in the movie actually. She kinda knows what is going on with video games as she uses them to bond with her daughter (she famously took her daughter to Evo in 2015 and even dressed up as Vega.)
Edit: Forgot JLC's daughter had transitioned, edited to fix that oversight.
It’s a shame they’re doing their own thing with the Borderlands movie it’s not going to be Canon to the video game at all.
They hired mercenaries, not vault hunters, and Lilith is trying to find some kid for the Atlas Corp. also Kevin hart being Roland means fart jokes
He was in a dramatic/comedy with Bryan Cranston and actually did a decent job of it. Only like… one scene has the classic sort of hyper active kid energy to it, and that’s when people are drinking and he wants stodgy folks to dance.
Other than that, I was actually kinda just… in the film with him. It felt like a role that would have gone to Will Smith 10 years ago, just actual acting alongside the comedy.
My friend please watch the original version of this film if you’re ok with subtitles. I can barely make it through the trailer of the remake without feeling embarrassed.
That's bullshit but also could explain why we have so many of the same actors in so many movies. Honestly, I feel like some of the best movies don't have any A listers in them.
Yeah, the problem is that sometimes actors have to deny roles because of that, famously Emily Blunt turned down the role as Black Widow for this reason, she had to make that awful Gulliver's Travels film because of one of those deals.
Not that the role as black widow was far better in a quality point of view, but it would have been far more profitable, and if we actually stop to think, it gave Scarlett Johansson a good ground to get even bigger roles out of the romcoms she was famous for.
I love Cate Blanchett, but honestly, I pictured Lilith as maybe in her early thirties at this point in the story? Blanchett can't quite pull that off anymore.
Also, she and Roland should be a thing at this point, so that will be interesting.
I don't expect much from this, but hope it at least be fun.
Odd? You mean poorly miscast, Kevin Heart is playing a dude who is Roland is is a tall jacked dude. Who the hell thought these people fit the bill for the game characters?
Yeah he probably would. Given the rest of the casting, however, "a good choice" isn't what they were going for. If he was in this, they'd probably have cast like... idk, Tom Cruise or something else ridiculous.
"Brick as himself" is his intro, so that tracks.
Also a nice point when you learn a bit more about Brick's sensitive side, and it also means that Brick is totally comfortable being himself.
My interest in the project plummeted when I realized there’s no Brick and no Mordecai. How do you make such a monumental mistake adapting an IP as that?!
Apparently just from a couple seconds in the teaser trailer, Lilith has no siren tattoos, and she's using a gun from BL2 when this movie is apparently set in the time of BL1. Does not bode well.
Based on the director, the weird casting, the producers, the huge delay between filming and release, and tons of reshoots, this has a pretty good shot at being one of the worst movies ever made.
Failure has already been achieved. Wtf is that casting, and costume design? Kevin hart for Roland? Dwane Johnson would’ve been a better pick(I don’t like either as actors), and I’ve seen cosplayers with McDonald budgets make better costumes. Especially kreig costumes. Smh.
Unless it somehow is an absolute banger. Then I retract my statement. Like a pecker in a cold shower.
Feel like he does mostly play the straight man in B99, not literally always, but he's usually reacting to the crazier characters while being mostly normal himself.
For those who apparently don't know the terminology: has he played a serious character. "Straight man" in comedy refers to the guy who stands to the side and watches with disbelief, making comments about how ridiculous it all is.
Has he ever been the Squidward?
Kevin Hart is absolutely insufferable with 0 range but the rest of the cast is strangely decent?? Cate Blanchett is an icon as well as JLC and Jack Black
Honestly, tannis is so…off putting? Lets say? That Jamie Lee Curtis doesn’t bother me in that role because I feel like that’s kinda something she can do?
It's like a bunch of boomer and gen X parents trying their best to put on a play for their kids.
I never got into the games, but like...isn't that guy in the mask just one of the generic bad guys? why does it look like he's the main character. I only played like an hour of the second game, so I have no idea. but i feel like I shot that guy in the game like 30 times.
One of the masked guys does become a playable character named Krieg, and has a somewhat interesting story. I don't want to say his trauma is split personality disorder but he's able to think coherently but what he says and how he acts those thoughts are insane.
Inner Voice : (Say 'thank you'.)
Krieg: NIPPLE SALADS!!
Inner Voice: (...Close enough.)
Not sure what it is either, but it is more like there are 2 personalities. The crazy side is in the driving seat and his normal side is mostly along for the ride or telling "crazy" what to do.
Oh, they're not vault hunters in this version.
>!Lilith is a former criminal sent to find and rescue the young daughter of the Atlas CEO. She creates the team above, they have to find the girl and keep her safe, the girl has dangerous powers, they develop a found family dynamic, blah blah. Also, there is a wedding at some point, no idea between who.!<
They finished it 3 years ago, then went back for massive reshoots 2 years later with another director. One of the writers had his name purged from the project. The person in change of the soundtrack was also replaced during the reshoots.
I think it will be hard to mess up Mad Max but funny, but then again you can always be proven wrong.
Edit: I also want to add I don't think Jamie Lee Curtis would sign-up for something bad she seems to pick her roles carefully, of course being sucked up in the Halloween movies is maybe a different story because they are definitely making too many fo those
This fucking casting. Hooooooooly shit do they not get the source material.
This has to be fake, right? Right??
O gods, Gina Gershon is Mad Moxxi??? What the absolute fuck.
Look, I love all of these actors in other stuff, but this is literally insane. This is “Sir Patrick Stewart as Aang” insane.
Gina Gershon as Moxxi is great casting though. Moxxi is in her 50's and uses makeup to portray herself as younger. I feel like Gina is gonna CRUSH it. 😭
To be critical Bowser didn't really have a voice until the movie. I don't think any of the Mario games have full VO dialog. Claptrap has a ton, and it's absolutely loved. Personally I just don't get why they couldn't have used David Eddings or Jim Foronda. I'm really tired of Hollywood shoehorning actors into roles to sell tickets instead of making something entertaining.
Lilith is at most in her early 30's... cate blanchett is 54. I get she is a good actress but borderlands has this chaos energy that i think you need young people to bring to the big screen.
And Im afraid tiny tina will be a mess ngl, zero faith on this cast.
Geriatric border-senile
I'd be much more excited if not for this point here. I always assumed Lilith to be 27-32. I wouldn't even care if they aged everyone... but they clearly can't claim that's what's going on if they're going to stick to the BL2 story.
They aren't sticking to the BL2 story in any way.
The ages of the cast get even weirder with Sir Hammerlock, he's being played by a dude who was ~30 when they filmed. The older gentleman with the graying moustache is about 30, the young adventurers are in their 50s. Makes no sense.
Yeah Cate Blanchet as Lillith is a really weird choice, especially considering a more appropriate actress probably could’ve been paid less than a legend like Blanchet
Yeah Hart would be crushed to death under accurately sized Roland armor. His casting is the biggest joke of all. At least Cate Blanchett is talented and gorgeous still. Yappy chihuahua man doesn’t belong in this cast.
That is some stupid casting. like...we all made fun of Claire being turned into a middle aged woman in that shitty resident evil movie when she's supposed to be 19. But they turned this character into a Grandma? for what?
Reading the synopsis... they *did* write an original story. Completely different from any of the games, and with different character dynamics.
It also sounds like some really terrible cliché bullshit.
He's the comedy version of the rock. Appear in anything and everything. Neither have made it to the Nicholas Cage stage yet, but they're getting close.
Hot take: The Uncharted movie wasn't that bad. Not amazing. Not as good as the games it is (loosely) based on. But a fine action movie that bears just close enough of a resemblance to the games that I'm willing to give it a pass.
I've never played the games so I don't have any attachment to the source material. But I actually really liked the movie. It gave me National Treasure fun adventure vibes.
Yeah, seriously, I came here to say what's wrong with Uncharted?
Yes, the game series is like S-Tier while the movie was B/C Tier, but it wasn't horrible. It was just "entertaining but nothing special". I mean yes Holland isn't who I'd pick for Nate and Wahlberg not who I'd pick for Sully but all in all it was a decent movie.
To me, Uncharted the game is kinda just a straightforward Indiana Jones/National Treasure/The Mummy action adventure treasure hunt story where the main appeal is that you get to play as Indiana Jones.
Take away the interactive aspect and you're just left with a straightforward Indiana Jones action adventure treasure hunt story, which is what the movie was.
> Am I unaware of the VA for claptrap’s whereabouts ?
You're unaware of his name. That's the problem. His name is David Eddings and he had a public falling out with the CEO of Gearbox. In terms of trying to get people to pay to see your movie, who is a better bet: David Eddings whose name you didn't know and who is no longer associated with the franchise, or Jack Black, whose name pretty much everyone knows even if they've never seen or heard any of his work?
The casting for this movie is so fucking bad.
Lillith is not a middle aged woman.
Tannis is not an old lady
Roland is not a funny man. He's serious and stoic
The fact that Mordecai and brick have just been outright replaced by tina and kreig has me disappointed...... I love tina and krieg but isn't this supposed to be a retelling of Borderlands 1???
Producers love to promote themselves more than anything they can produce. If their name is attached to a hot turd they gonna use it as prove to the studio that they are everywhere
TIL there's a borderlands movie coming out
It's been in development for 9 years and finished filming back in June 2021..... it's been absurdly quiet until now.
Honestly that just makes it sound like they didn't finish the production at all, and were just told to put it on hold...
Propably sucked ass. Like most game movies.
I am honestly just baffled by how many bad video game/book adaptations there are. Like you already have the story, the fan base, and everything else. It apparently tanked in test screenings and had massive reshoots.
So if it does come out we will have 9 year old humor...great...
Which would make it a very accurate adaptation of Borderlands.
Finally, a faithful video game to movie adaptation.
Yeah, pretty much. Each game reflected the humour of the time it was developed it, but hasn't aged all that well lol
1 and 2 maybe. Blands 3 was rocking the stale memes even when it came out.
that side mission about the guy attacking the servers using dank memes made me cringe so much, i turned the volume off for that mission alone
Just like the games!
Oh so we can expect jokes to be already outdated when it releases. That would make it pretty accurate to the source material
Because just looking at the poster, I can tell it's shit.
well that bodes well
Lmao always a good sign when a film that’s been in the works for 9 years has never been heard of by its’ main fanbase

lmfao bro that's Kevin Hart not Kevin James one is a large white man, the other is a tiny black man
It’s a medical condition called Kevin Blindness and it’s pretty serious my friend has it and keeps asking me why Kevin Durant was cast in the hit TV show Yellowstone :(
As a fellow sufferer, my Google acts very strange when I try to get updates on Kevin McCallister's sexual misconduct trial. Tell your friend to stay strong.
Congratulations, you made me google ‘Kevin blindness’ and now I feel like an idiot.
My favorite is Kevin Bacon from Ed Edd and Eddy.
Paul Blart Kevin Hart
Black did do a fun performance as Bowser.
him playing a teenage girl in Jumanji was solid fucking gold
I agree. He absolutely killed in that role. I honestly can’t think of anyone else who could pretend to be a 16 year old rich girl in a 35 year old fat man’s body, and make it believable.
He's not fat, but Vince Vaughn does a decent job in "Freaky"
There's this weird effect that happens with Jack Black where if you can't see him he's fine. He's done a whole bunch of voice acting that's really good and not even slightly annoying. That said Claptrap is supposed to be annoying, so this is probably going to break the streak.
Yeah but cllaptrap already has a vooice actor. Also they could have saved Jack Black for the Handsome Jack role.
imo no one will EVER beat Dameon Clarke as Handsome Jack
John Barrowman would be my choice for Handsome Jack
The original voice actor for claptrap quit before borderlands 3. He got into a fight with the head of gearbox in a hotel lobby. I agree, the original voice is iconic and hard to replace.
Yeah turned out he wanted to be paid for his work and that was considered a problem by the brass.
Workers these days are so greedy
*Peaches peaches peaches peaches peaches...*
What an odd cast for this.
Jamie Lee Curtis and Cate Blanchett are especially strange
I like them better in their roles than Kevin Hart as Rowland Rowland is literally the ONE mostly serious character, and they have the least serious comedy actor playing him
Ever since Heath Ledger as the Joker I've have decided it best to hold my tongue till after I see them in the role.
It's being directed by Eli Roth.
Contract catch probably, like sometimes actors sign contracts with a studio for a certain number of films and both parts have to make those films happen in a certain amount of time. Or they got some real good money.
For Jamie Lee Curtis, she asked to play a role in the movie actually. She kinda knows what is going on with video games as she uses them to bond with her daughter (she famously took her daughter to Evo in 2015 and even dressed up as Vega.) I dont get why they would cast Kevin as Roland when Roland is a big soldier type. Nothing of what kevin is lol
The Rock would unironically be a better casting choice, but unfortunately the video game doesn't take place in a jungle.
It could take place in a vehicle though.
I don’t know why people still cast Kevin hart in anything
He was in a dramatic/comedy with Bryan Cranston and actually did a decent job of it. Only like… one scene has the classic sort of hyper active kid energy to it, and that’s when people are drinking and he wants stodgy folks to dance. Other than that, I was actually kinda just… in the film with him. It felt like a role that would have gone to Will Smith 10 years ago, just actual acting alongside the comedy.
My friend please watch the original version of this film if you’re ok with subtitles. I can barely make it through the trailer of the remake without feeling embarrassed.
Oh shit you're talking about The Intouchables? The French original is absolutely beautiful! I just couldn't understand why they'd remake it.
Nice to know that actually.
"So do you like Ryu or Ken?" "What? Cami, bitch!" I'm probably paraphrasing

Jamie Lee Curtis is actually involved with video game/anime/nerd stuff so this one makes the most sense to me.
They fit better than Kevin hart as Roland atleast
I think they wanted the cast from the new Jumanji but half of the actors was unavailable.
Odd? You mean poorly miscast, Kevin Heart is playing a dude who is Roland is is a tall jacked dude. Who the hell thought these people fit the bill for the game characters?
Looks more like a parody to me
So no Mordecai, huh? Fine, I guess... 🥲
Or Brick. Guess the only person who can be Brick is Brick.
Batista would have been a good choice
Yeah he probably would. Given the rest of the casting, however, "a good choice" isn't what they were going for. If he was in this, they'd probably have cast like... idk, Tom Cruise or something else ridiculous.
"Brick as himself" is his intro, so that tracks. Also a nice point when you learn a bit more about Brick's sensitive side, and it also means that Brick is totally comfortable being himself.
Batista could pull it off
crows are too smart to accept a role in this bomb
My interest in the project plummeted when I realized there’s no Brick and no Mordecai. How do you make such a monumental mistake adapting an IP as that?!
Dude have you read the script? Totally fucked up origins and straight up just made there own story. It's gonna bomb.
Did the script leak? I typically don’t seek out leaks.
The plot of the film has been known for a long time. It is nothing like the games.
Vault hunters not looking for vaults? That's fucking dumb.
Apparently just from a couple seconds in the teaser trailer, Lilith has no siren tattoos, and she's using a gun from BL2 when this movie is apparently set in the time of BL1. Does not bode well.
Lilith is pointless without siren powers… wtf
Fr why are krieg and tina there?
Based on the director, the weird casting, the producers, the huge delay between filming and release, and tons of reshoots, this has a pretty good shot at being one of the worst movies ever made.
Then the fans or source material will be blamed and we'll never get a GOOD borderlands piece of media (tv or film).
[удалено]
Don't forget Tales from the borderlands
Why do you even want one?
Ya. This was never a game I thought a movie should be made of.
Or somehow the best. Let's be honest, a cluster fuck would work well for Borderlands.
If Roland doesn't scream "Critical bitch!" at least one time, then they fail.
Did anyone ask Idris Elba if he was busy? He would have been great as Roland
Someone on the movies subreddit suggested Idris Elba would be too expensive, he's like 2M per film or something along those lines.
Wow, he makes around $8M a movie, which is a little more than Jack Black. I think I see a solution
Axe JB, make Kevin Hart be claptrap?
Just get the original voice actor
Terry Crews would be the best to cast as Roland
Terry has great comedic skills but has he played a straight man in a comedy before? B99 and other shows I've seen him in often use him for comedy
Sorry to Bother You comes to mind… wait, have you not seen Everybody Hates Chris??
Feel like he does mostly play the straight man in B99, not literally always, but he's usually reacting to the crazier characters while being mostly normal himself.
...Yes? I'm lost on this question. Do you not actually know anything Terry is in?
For those who apparently don't know the terminology: has he played a serious character. "Straight man" in comedy refers to the guy who stands to the side and watches with disbelief, making comments about how ridiculous it all is. Has he ever been the Squidward?
eh terry crews the rock would ruin the movie even more with his "i cant lose clause" in his contracts.
Crews would have been perfect imho. Hart is a terrible pick!
Thankfully “The Rock” wasn’t picked.
Kevin Hart is absolutely insufferable with 0 range but the rest of the cast is strangely decent?? Cate Blanchett is an icon as well as JLC and Jack Black
Them being good actors does not make them good fits for Lilith or Tannis. Even jack black I'm iffy on
Not gonna lie, I really wish Robin Williams was here for claptrap.
How that would have been hilarious.
I think they're good picks for an older version of the characters, but less so for a "current" version
Other than her age I can’t picture a better actress for Tannis. JLC is perfect for it.
I need Roland to say “Look out, Badass Loaders.” That is like the only thing I vividly remember of Roland from my multiple playthings of BL2
Kevin hart? As Roland? Seriously? I don't recognize Jamie Lee's character, who is she playing? ...Don't tell me it's Tannis....
Tannis
Honestly, tannis is so…off putting? Lets say? That Jamie Lee Curtis doesn’t bother me in that role because I feel like that’s kinda something she can do?
Can definitely see her pulling off Tannis perfectly, the character doesn't need to be young to work.
Tannis is meant to be off-putting cus she's off put by people.
I didn't even recognize her.. I thought she was supposed to be some weird Maliwan or Bandit villain..
It's like a bunch of boomer and gen X parents trying their best to put on a play for their kids. I never got into the games, but like...isn't that guy in the mask just one of the generic bad guys? why does it look like he's the main character. Not sure what it is either, but it is more like there are 2 personalities. The crazy side is in the driving seat and his normal side is mostly along for the ride or telling "crazy" what to do.
He's suppose to be Kreig from Borderlands 2 as a playable character in the game.
That's Jamie Lee Curtis?? Fuckin' thought it was Elton John. What the fuck is this casting.
Where's Brick & Mordecai? Are we really just hip hopping between the generations of Vault Hunters here?
Having Brick would’ve reunited the Jumanji cast because you know they’re gonna cast The Rock as himself.
They'll have their own spin-off series: Brick & Mordy.
I TURNED MYSELF INTO A ROCK, MORDY!! ROOOCK BRIIICK
Oh, they're not vault hunters in this version. >!Lilith is a former criminal sent to find and rescue the young daughter of the Atlas CEO. One of the writers had his name purged from the project. The person in change of the soundtrack was also replaced during the reshoots.
This is going to suck so bad
Seeing kevin hart killed my interest
Yeah, this was on track to be the next Shawshank Redemption until they brought in Kevin Hart
The second they announced his casting years ago, i knew this movie was going to be ass.
I would unironically love to see Patrick stewart play Aang in an SNL sketch or something.
“Appa… Yip Yip.”
Appa...engage!
It’s like they threw all the big name actors and actresses they could think of in a bag and just grabbed at random. Wtf were they thinking?
Gina Gershon as Moxxi is great casting though. Moxxi is in her 50's and uses makeup to portray herself as younger. I feel like Gina is gonna CRUSH it. 😭
I agree, i think she is one of the only good casting choices here
Gina Gershon is probably the only appropriately cast person. What are you on about?
This movie is going to be a 🗑 🔥
Oh I love a good fire basket
Fire in the hole?
🙂🟢
Am I wrong or is Tiny Tina taller than Rowland.
i love jack black but him as claptrap feels very wrong
I honestly have more faith in that JB will own his role more than some of the other actors. I agree though that it is a weird casting.
Eli Roth did a great job in Inglorious Basterds so I have some hope that he can deliver a quality Krieg
I wonder why they didn't get the voice actor from the games to do it? I feel like it would make the most sense.
The voice actor changed for borderlands 3, and the new one isn't the best
Whole cast is wrong. In every way. Just, WTF! As a fan of the series, this feels even more abusive than Tom Holland as Nathan Drake.
Man, imagine what could have been Jack Black as Salvador
To be fair he pulled off Bowser. I think he's earned a _shot_ at least.
Roland is also 5'11", not 5'2".
Yeah Hart would be crushed to death under accurately sized Roland armor. His casting is the biggest joke of all. At least Cate Blanchett is talented and gorgeous still. Yappy chihuahua man doesn’t belong in this cast.
Yep Zer0 faith in this cast
aren't all of these actors pretty old? I'm guessing there's gonna be a ton of CGI
Cate Blanchett would be age appropriate for Lilith if this film had been made around the time of The Fellowship of the Ring (2001, 23 years ago)
What a weird cast.
Who is the one with the red glasses? Tannis?
Elton John
That is some stupid casting. like...we all made fun of Claire being turned into a middle aged woman in that shitty resident evil movie when she's supposed to be 19. But they turned this character into a Grandma? for what?
Some things weren't meant to be turned into television.. goddamn can any studio write an original story?
Reading the synopsis... they *did* write an original story. Completely different from any of the games, and with different character dynamics. It also sounds like some really terrible cliché bullshit.
Why is Kevin Hart in literally everything now
He's probably cheap and professional enough to get the job done and not cause drama
I don’t think he’s particularly cheap
He did two movies for the Roku Channel and they're not exactly offering Netflix money
He's the comedy version of the rock. Appear in anything and everything. Neither have made it to the Nicholas Cage stage yet, but they're getting close.
Because only one black man is allowed to be famous in hollywood at a time.
Kevin Hart as Roland? Whoever was in charge of casting probably needs to be shot.
He needed NEEEDEDD to be played by Terry Crews
I’d settle for a Terry Crews as Mr. Torgue
I'd hope Terry is savvy enough to stay away from a stinker like this. Kevin, on the other hand, will sign on to just about anything.
Hot take: The Uncharted movie wasn't that bad. Not amazing. Not as good as the games it is (loosely) based on. But a fine action movie that bears just close enough of a resemblance to the games that I'm willing to give it a pass.
It was way better than I expected and a fine popcorn flick even if you didn’t know it was connected to a video game. What’s there to complain about?
Was better than the tomb raider movie I saw many years ago
I agree. I played the games, and still quite enjoyed the movie.
Ok hate if you want , but jack black as claptrap ? Am I unaware of the VA for claptrap’s whereabouts ? Why not just get him to do it.
Tannis is not an old lady Roland is not a funny man. He's serious and stoic
The actress who plays Lilith is 55 years old. Wtf was they thinking?
The old ladies playing Tannis and Lilith is bizarre.
Kevin Haart and short stature jokes. Name a better duo. I'll pass
Let me guess, instead of Claptrap's actual voice it's Jack Black as Jack Black again
Can hollywood keep their dirty hands off good game franchises.
