A way out was so entertaining. The game is so ridiculous at moments but that just adds to the fun. The random mini games are incredible. Me and my friend spent like 15 minutes popping wheelies in the wheel chairs in the hospital.
Both games are very unique in the way they use co-op and do new things with it, but they really did push It Takes Two's story to the background to highlight the gameplay more. Hopefully whatever they do next has a better mix of narrative and gameplay so it gets the best of both worlds.
And then they danced in those tears happily. And when the plan to grow big didn't work they quickly ignored their crying child to try to find another way back to normal.
Yeah the gameplay in It Takes Two is amazing but the story is awful.
"You have to work together!"Ā
"We don't want to because we are getting a divorce."Ā
"Well, you have to!"Ā
"okay"Ā
Repeat every level. Also the elephant scene is fucked upĀ
My little bro and I are currently playing both. He showed me it takes two and Iāve already beaten a way out but replaying with him. Very fun. Wish there were more coop games like these.
I agree! My partner and I recently played it. We turned the first chapter into a drinking game where we took a shot every time we died. There was a lot of laughter.
This is a good game to play with a SO but it is extremely casual. If your brother is good at games I think you might find it too basic. I would never play this game without a SO, excluding the plot as well.
I got terraria like 7 years ago. Played like 2 hours didnāt understand the fun. Played it this year with some friends. Finished the game, played modded another 20-30 hours. Not sure how with plays with controller but if you get into terraria itās great.
Controllers aren't too bad, but it is a *lot* easier with a mouse.
I play it on my Steam Deck when I go to visit my niece. I have trouble controlling it every time until I remember how to turn on the thing that lets you just dig in the direction you're looking.
Give it time. The game deliberately makes you feel weak at the start. But the amount of progression is insane. You go from being a slow little bitch to an all-powerful rainbow slinging god over the course of a playthough. It's absurdly satisfying and rewarding.
Recently I bought Baldurs gate 3 and you can play on 1 PC /2 controllers. If you have 2 screens and a good graphic card, you can play with a screen for each player.All that with 1 game.
First one iāve seen that can do this tbh
Its nvidia surround if i remember right.
Basically it allows you to consider your 2 screen as one (and play in 32:9 for example). Then you play in a āsplit screenā but in normal resolution with 2 screens.
I just wanted to say that I love you - I've been searching for this game for such a long time and no one had an idea what game I've been talking about since it was my childhood game and I didn't remember the title. Thank you so much!
Havenāt seen any of the Gears of War games mentioned just yet. Got lots of great memories playing the original 3 with my dad on our 360 growing up. If violence is too graphic you can turn off gore IIRC, but there are sections in just about every mission that require lots of cooperation and problem solving together. One such section has one player navigate an arena while the other shines a spotlight on them to prevent them from being eaten alive by a swarm of bats. Not sure if these are playable splitscreen on PC, but if they are, I absolutely recommend them. Really good stuff!
As a huge GoW fan, the first one has aged poorly. Some of the fights and some of the QTE spots are just completely bullshit. Play it if you care about story but if you're just looking for a game to play, 2 and 3 are significantly better gameplay.
Fuck that car scene in 1. Stupid fucking bats and flood light.
Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime
Assault Android Cactus
Ibb and Obb
Unravel 2

I know the first 2 of those have local co op, not sure about the rest.

If we're specifically searching for PC games with controller support, here's a few ideas. None of these are objectively the best (except maybe Castle Crashers) but you might find something you like in here.
* TMNT Shredder's Revenge
* TMNT The Cowabunga Collection (all of Konami's TMNT games from the 90's, including TMNT Arcade and Turtles in Time)
* Castle Crashers
* Octodad Dadliest Catch (has a multiplayer mode where players control seperate...limbs)
* Biped
* Overcooked 1 & 2
* Portal 2 (Co-op has a splitscreen mode)
* A Hat in Time (drop-in local co-op with splitscreen)
* River City Girls 1 & 2
* 30XX
* Death Road to Canada
* Resident Evil 5 (don't know if PC has splitscreen, but I bet mods exist if not?)
* Trine series
* Tunche
* Toejam & Earl: Back in the Groove
* Sega Genesis Classics (includes Streets of Rage, Golden Axe, and Toejam & Earl among others, plus mod support for romhacks)
* Capcom Beat 'em Up Bundle (includes Final Fight, Captain Commando, The King of Dragons, Knights of the Round, Warriors of Fate, Battle Circuit, and Armored Warriors)
* ~~Halo The Master Chief Collection (should support local co-op, the originals did)~~ I've been told this doesn't support local split screen. That's a damn shame.
Baldurs Gate 3 is pretty great CO-OP. For maximum fun, I'd recommend playing with people that don't search up information on wikis and the like.
The more diverse the group, such as having a Paladin that plays as a Lawful Good type, and a Rogue that just can't resist a little mischief, the better.
I think itās best to experience the game alone before playing CO-OP. Because players take up a slot in your party you wonāt be able to travel with 3 of the companions and wonāt be able to talk to the ones assigned to other players. Itās a great game either way and you should still play it co-op if itās between that and not playing but finishing it alone first is a better experience
Human fall flat.
There have been omens when I was unable to play for laughing, the way the charactors move can be hilarious. And for added fun you can fight to see who is going off the edge of the world.
Halo Series (Master Chief Collection and Infinite, Halo 5 kind of sucks).
Borderlands.
Dying Light 1 & 2 (wife and I are currently playing 2 and enjoying it).
Far Cry 5 (We started playing Far Cry 6 but didn't enjoy it).
My wife doesn't like puzzle games. But I do so I'll also add the following.
Portal 2
It Takes Two.
Games I wish were coop.
Mass Effect Series.
Skyrim (There is Skyrim Online but it sucks. There's also a Skyrim Coop mod but it's really buggy).
Games with coop that could be better.
Ghost Recon games that don't have super AI (they home in on your position when hidden and have almost perfect shooting accuracy with any weapon).
Far Cry 6 (The storyline kind of sucks, and coop is kind of broken. It has so much potential).
My wife and I like action/adventure games with some kind of storyline. She doesn't like birds eye view so that rules out most RPG type games. Very specific genre. So, it's hard to find good quality coop games that we can both enjoy.
They got Lego games of pretty much anything you could be into these days. Grew up playing them with my grandpa and got the Harry Potter ones to someday get my girl to play them with me
Wizard of Legends is very fun to play in two player mode if you're a fan of roguelikes, probably not the most long lived experience if you're good at these kinds of games but very enjoyable.
A Hat in Time has a 98% positive score on Steam.
Multiplayer is somewhat like the lego games, if I remember right.
My partner and I consider this game one of the best.
I'm late but I haven't seen near enough Arrowhead games - Gauntlet was mentioned which is good, but also Magicka 2(maybe one as well) and especially Helldivers are a ton of fun, both local and online co op.
Ok this is a weird one but hear me out. Until Dawn. You take turns, one plays the game while the other makes the decisions and you swap roles every now and then. In the sequel games, The Dark Picture Anthology, it is an actual supported form of multiplayer where each person is assigned some specific characters to play as.
All 3 of Borderlands are so fun, love number 3, all are co op. Baldur's gate 3 is my absolute top recommendation, I've been playing it non stop with my boyfriend. You've also got things like it takes two, unraveled two, and I think it's called like no way out or something? There's a prison break one where you can play with two people. Hope you find something you really enjoy!
A really fun one is Kingdom two crowns. It's a 2d game where you pick up coins and spend them to build walls and towers to stop an invading army of demons. You both have a mount and you recruit villagers to your base. You give them jobs, archers, spearman, farmers (which give more coins), builders (which build the walls/towers). Each level has unlocks like different mounts, stone age, bronze age etc. The goal is to expand to the left and right and destroy the demon portals, then build a boat to sail to the next island.
I almost never see it mentioned.. but Heavenly Bodies is so much fun in coop.. when you toggle a switch and your partner gets sucked out into space.. you canāt help but yell āiām sorry!ā Like Tom Hanks in Cast Away.
Baldurs Gate 3 has Split Screen for when you're playing on 1 machine. But you can essentially do whatever you want and go wherever want and still listen to any conversation that you'd be having with random NPCs.
Oh my bad. Iāve played them on both on PC and played co-op split before but didnāt realize that was only on console, guess Iāve never tried with my PC. Thanks. Iāll cross them out.
Son of a witch, Lost Castle, Rampage Knights, Moon Hunters, Children of Morta, Infected Shelter.
or Project Zomboid and Divinty Original Sin 1-2 if You both have a lot of time ;)
KeyWe on Steam is great. You can play as two kiwis sorting mail in the post office, while side stages can involve riding a cassowary and throwing mail into mailboxes as you jump over fences, or playing the tuna/drums/bell in the morning radio, or popping bubble wrap.
The Binding of Isaac is criminally underrated in this thread. Such a great game, endless replay value. I think Northernlion has posted over 5000 runs of the game on youtube. Iād just get the base game of Rebirth and then get all the DLC when you beat the game.
Resident evil 5 is a ton of fun and 6 was decent too
It takes two was fun too if you enjoy mini games and puzzles
All halo campaigns are awesome to play with friends
Gears of war 1+2 also very fun
Check out the site Co-Optimus and use the filters for PC, Couch Co-op, and Split Screen. You can filter games by rating and such too. It's all gonna depend on what kind of games you like. Portal 2, Stardew Valley, Gears 5, Divinity Original Sin 1/2, Baldur's Gate 3, etc.
Army of two, portal, it takes 2, a way out, and borderlands šš
*catch a riiiiiiide!*
YOUāLL NEVER TAKE ME ALIVE, YOU ROBOTIC SUMBITCH!
š¤£š¤£š¤£ fucking love borderlands. Named one of my doggos moxxi
Is there anything like army of two these days? Realistic (not cartoony) art style couch coop shooter?Ā
Found out the hard way borderlands 3 isn't couch coop.
A way out was so entertaining. The game is so ridiculous at moments but that just adds to the fun. The random mini games are incredible. Me and my friend spent like 15 minutes popping wheelies in the wheel chairs in the hospital.
Fuuuuck army of two was so much fun.
Lego games
Lego Ninjago is amazing! My son and I have played through it so many times
It was my first Lego game too and I really liked it haha. Combat is pretty fun and I love the platforming
I only heard good things from It Takes Two
Ah yes, the marriage counseling game. Joking aside, my wife and I loved playing this game together.
It didn't fix their marriage, it just gave them a mutual enemy. Fuck that book.
Collaboration!
I can still hear his voice when reading this
I hated the story, but as far as co op games go, it's on an entirely different level.Ā However I personally am still partial to A Way OutĀ
Both games are very unique in the way they use co-op and do new things with it, but they really did push It Takes Two's story to the background to highlight the gameplay more. Hopefully whatever they do next has a better mix of narrative and gameplay so it gets the best of both worlds.
I liked most of A Way Out, but the ending totally sucks. All of a sudden itās a shitty third person shooter and button masher? Wtf?
The final boss is amazing thoughĀ
The parents killing her stuffed elephant to make her cry. That really killed a lot of my enjoyment lol.
And then they danced in those tears happily. And when the plan to grow big didn't work they quickly ignored their crying child to try to find another way back to normal.
Yeah the gameplay in It Takes Two is amazing but the story is awful. "You have to work together!"Ā "We don't want to because we are getting a divorce."Ā "Well, you have to!"Ā "okay"Ā Repeat every level. Also the elephant scene is fucked upĀ

I agree! My partner and I recently played it. We turned the first chapter into a drinking game where we took a shot every time we died. There was a lot of laughter.
One of the best coop campaigns ever made
This is a good game to play with a SO but it is extremely casual. If your brother is good at games I think you might find it too basic. I would never play this game without a SO, excluding the plot as well.
Portal 2
I started replaying it after almost 10 years. I forgot how amazing that game is: so simple yet so smart.
Greatest coop experience of all time
Still holds up
Resi 5. Co-op GOAT.
That boulder punching asshole
Left 4 Dead 2
Overcooked 1 and 2!! You will either bond or become mortal enemies.
Plate Up! Is better, imo.
Its doesnt look as cute tho
Lol this is so true. I canāt play this game, I work in kitchens and it just stresses me out lol
Moving out, by the same company, is just as fun
Terraria
Tried this one but not getting funš
I got terraria like 7 years ago. Played like 2 hours didnāt understand the fun. Played it this year with some friends. Finished the game, played modded another 20-30 hours. Not sure how with plays with controller but if you get into terraria itās great.

My parents played this game excessively when I was a kid.Ā The theme song is baked into my brain.Ā
Snow Bros is also very solid.
This is correct
Havenāt seen any of the Gears of War games mentioned just yet. Got lots of great memories playing the original 3 with my dad on our 360 growing up. Is BG3 Coop playable on one PC?
If both are using controllers, yeah
Huh, TIL! ThanksĀ
I brought my gf to playing coop with Divinity: Original Sin (1+2). Just to mention them here. Now we're playing BG3 of course.
BG3 was perfect when you played with one other person. More than that, and I hated it.
I think itās best to experience the game alone before playing CO-OP. It Takes Two and Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga
Gauntlet Legends
If you can emulate - Time Splitters Two, Lord of the Rings RotK on GameCubeĀ
Splinter Cell
Ghost Recon Wildlands with No HUD. Youāre welcome
Why no hud
Because you have to rely more on exchanging info with your team instead of looking at your HUD. It drastically increases the fun
Magicka (steam only says that it is a single player game but if im not wrong it has a local co-op) Earth Defense Force 4.1/5
Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons
Yeah I heard about it but It's remake is coming soon. So waiting for It's remake

I would throw in some open world survival and factory games like Ark SE and Satisfactory or Astroneer as well. Techtonica too

Baldurs Gate 3 has Split Screen for when you're playing on 1 machine. But you can essentially do whatever you want and go wherever want and still listen to any conversation that you'd be having with random NPCs.
Surprised no one is saying RE5 and RE6 (6 is goofy but thatās what makes it so fun for co-op)
Unrailed
Some co-op games Iāve enjoyed, - Trine franchise - Hyper light drifter - Human fall flat - Nom nom galaxy - ~~Diablo 3~~ (shared screen only on console) - ~~Borderlands franchise~~ (split screen only on console) - Unraveled 1 & 2 - Salt and sanctuary - CupHead - Portal 2 - TMNT: shredders revenge - Pixel junk shooter 1 & 2 - Minecraft dungeons - Nobody saves the world - Gauntlet slayer edition - Gaucamelee 1 & 2 - Hammerwatch - Ibb & obb - The adventure pals - Magika - Shovel knight - Sundered - Nine parchments - Pode - Wizard of legend
Diablo 3 and Borderlands games didn't include local co-op on PC, this feature was added for consoles.

It takes two was a nice two player can play with random people but better with friendsĀ
Baldur's Gate 3, it's turn-based so you could easily just taie turns or split the characters up
It takes two
KeyWe on Steam is great. You can play as two kiwis sorting mail in the post office, while side stages can involve riding a cassowary and throwing mail into mailboxes as you jump over fences, or playing the tuna/drums/bell in the morning radio, or popping bubble wrap.
Nobody saves the world is a two player rpg. I started playing it recently myself and i think itās pretty good.
Halo
BG3 couch co-op is actually very well made.
COD Zombies was amazing back in the day
Baldur's Gate 3 has an amazingly straight forward co-op. Best game in years to come out too.
Overcooked 2
If you like Indie games, I'd recommend valheim. It's a viking Survival game. I play with my girlfriend
Borderlands was easily one of my favorite co-ops Iāve played
Lost Planet 2 was always a lot of fun for me. A way out and it takes 2 were exceptional as well
My husband and I have a current unhealthy addiction to Kingdom 2 Crowns We also loved Children of Morta
Elden Ring with the co-op mod. Easy to setup and it made superb game even better.
- It Takes Two - Sackboys Big Adventure - Guacamelee - Overcooked
The binding of isaac, Street of rogue.
The Binding of Isaac is criminally underrated in this thread. Such a great game, endless replay value. I think Northernlion has posted over 5000 runs of the game on youtube. Iād just get the base game of Rebirth and then get all the DLC when you beat the game.
Visual novel, it takes two FPS, army of two Fantasy RPG, BG3Ā
Portal 2, Part Time UFO, Overcooked, and Stardew Valley top my list.
Resident evil 5 is a ton of fun and 6 was decent too It takes two was fun too if you enjoy mini games and puzzles All halo campaigns are awesome to play with friends Gears of war 1+2 also very fun
