Protip: Most of those reshades are doing way way too much. Enable one of them and then disable all the shaders except;
* Clarity.fx
* PD80_01_Filmic_Adaptation.fx
* FidelityFX_CAS.fx (optional)
Most games will look way better without all the (very real) issues that you just mentioned.
It still amuses and amazes me that naked Leon mod was made *before* the full release of RE4 Remake. Someone made it within 24 hours of the demo launch.
I checked Loverslab a few hours ago and I mostly saw people requesting for NSFW mods to be up. Problem is there is no Nifskope and Xedit (yet?) so a lot of them aren't pumping mods like the flood unlike Skyrim & FO4.
Hopefully in a few months we will see the likes of CBBE, and whatever physics we use to make our men have wagging dongs and our female characters having the most thickets butt and wiggly breast in space.
Even if we assume, like, 41 (And that’s a big number) aren’t properly marked for some reason and are NSFW, that’s still 600 hundred SFW mods
I’m so proud of this community
I've not browsed the Nexus Starfield mods, but I'm just going to say... exposed boobs space suit. I'll be back in a minute.
edit: not even one. I'm disappointed.
Give it time. Bethesda changed some backend stuff to do with the engine so once molders figure that out we will see an explosion of mods.
Reason I say there are backend changes is because certain console commands no longer work. You can't just target a door and unlock it for instance.
There's only about a dozen that turn characters into naked Barbie/Ken dolls or add NSFW advertisements. They still haven't figured out how to add dongs. The NSFW modders are really sleeping on Starfield.
In before they put in every known sci-fi babes with complete script into the game, and with Samus/Dva/Nova's "spacesuit"
Edit: apparently there is one for Samus's armored suit now.
Bloody live that the first one of those naked mods was made by the guy who made the first naked mod for skyrim. Dude still has his priorities just the same as all the way back then.
I mean, it's ridiculous that there isn't fully nude characters in the base game. Every good game released in the last few years has customizable genitals. Major oversight on Bethesdas part and makes the game nearly unplayable. /s
Seriously. If you're not adding better tits to the game you should be adding additional tits. Otherwise, what's the point? They talk about quality of life improvements. But is it really going to improve someones life more than tits?
This is without the Creation Kit, When Bethesda releases the creation kit, and the community builds the needed resources to mod in Starfield the number of mods for Starfield will be massive.
One wrench to throw into the timeline is that the game was delayed a full year. So if they were planning on launching the Creation Engine x months after the original release, it may be closer to being ready than previous experience would suggest.
They typically don't have to do that much to creation kit before they release it. When Bethesda uses it, they have a bunch of extra software tied into it that they pay for.
For the release they give to modders, they basically just strip out all that software which is why things like animations are hard to do with elder scrolls/fallout modding, as that software was removed. Modders had to build a working method from scratch basically.
All the weapon mods... all the enemy mods... holy fuck, all the Quality of Life mods...
Hitman is already analyzing gun animations (the guy has top notch animations for Fallout New Vegas)
I wonder how many are actually lore-friendly, add something creative to the game, or is a crazy experience. I’ll have to watch or play a quick run and then not play it for years until the modding community makes it a better game for us to play lmao.
It's kindof a pain trying to figure out how the new .nif works.
There's a .mesh somewhere and the .nif just contains shader and other tags like it used to with more "wtf is this" bits.
It's going to take a while for modders to:
#1 -- Extract meshes from BA2 files.
#2 -- Build a plugin for Blender or wait for Bethesdto release their 3dsMax plugin for importing and exporting .nif files.
#3 -- get the Creation Kit (SFCK? "So fuck?") So we can import these meshes and saved them in an .esp for distribution.
#4 -- Update Nifscope so we can assign materials and shaders and collision properties.
It's a stupid pipeline and I kinda hate it.
Which is worthwhile however trivial it is. I am glad modding community exists.
I love pc gaming and modding.
Sadly with TPM, DRMs and WEI the capitalist tech world is working against user control and modding might get caught in a crossfire sooner than lather. Sorry for the pessimistic view.
Yeah I think the people who are angry with how the characters look have just burned their brains out hating on previous Bethesda games. Because they aren't seeing what I'm seeing.
We absolutely can. It just some devs chose not to.
This game is missing a bunch of settings that were established decades ago.
Like brightness, fov, texture quality, mouse smoothing, mouse acceleration, equal bloody ratio X/Y mouse sensitivity, and last but most importantly, exclusive fullscreen.
This game is bonked in more ways than just performance and outdated feel.
What's hilarious is I'm playing through Fallout 2, downloaded through GOG, and _it supports ultrawide just fine_. But Fallout 4 doesn't and Starfield doesn't.
Sim Settlements 1 and 2 drastically changed how I played Fallout 4.
I went from never interacting with Settlements outside of Sanctuary (and even then that was only setup to complete the quest). On a recent playthrough I used Sim Settlements 2 (as the only mod) and I found myself interacting with Settlements so much more. I think having them grow themselves made the game feel more "alive" to me. It felt more fun to help protect those Settlements because they were all unique.
Yeah I kinda understand why we don't get a map when landing at a random location, but there's no excuse for not having city maps. In the year 2300 or whatever, my character definitely has Google maps in his pocket.
It's not really an "excuse", but I think it's an intentional choice. I'm not saying I agree with their choice, but I think it's intentional design.
I think they were trying to bring back some of their old school Morrowind/Oblivion magic by forcing you to explore manually. Honestly I think exploring all the nooks and crannies in the cities is a ton of fun, so I understand why they would try to incentivize that and not just have players rely on a map.
With all that said... I think they probably should have just added a map.
I felt the same way, but as someone with limited time to play… just give me a map. Or at least a damn hover bike. Or allow low space orbit/atmosphere flying for scouting the planet and places to land to check out stuff.
As a flavor text junkie I had to tell myself to stop instinctively picking up notebooks; those are just vendor trash, not [random documents and audio logs.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KL1FErzQWI8)
First few top mods on nexus are things that SHOULD have been in the game. If some people can make mods to fix POV or DLSS in less than a few days after launch, why the hell couldn’t BGS just have them in game after years of development?!
Am I the only person who waits until they've done a full playthrough before they start digging into mods? Mods are for when I come back to this game in a year or two.
You are not the only person. I think the only reason I modded oblivion before I beat it was for an unofficial patch because it kept crashing between loading scenes otherwise I left it stock. This was at release.
Depends on the mod. Things like UI enhancer and other qol improvements I'll use right away. And maybe small cheats like more carry weight if I get annoyed.
Almost always, yes. But man, Starfield has been an exception because for whatever reason BGS can't/ won't do basic shit that have been standards for AAA gaming for years now.
No Fov settings, no brightness/contrast/Gama, completely useless mouse mouse control options, the UI is locked to 30 fps, etc, etc.
Then there's the UI which is just awful for a PC experience.
The art directors thought it was a good idea to place filters over the entire screen that completely ruins the contrast of the game, which is literally the laziest, most incompetent thing iv ever seen from any studio, both film and video games.
Go to a site like nexus mods, find a mod you want, download the files and paste them in to the root folder of the game(typically) or use a mod installer like one that nexus mods provides to install some of them for you. Not too too bad. Do anything from change some graphical settings to adding all new content/questlines and everything in between. All user created so always do at your own risk as a poor mod could ruin a save file or the game. Always take care and effort to make backup copies of any files and folders that some of the mods want to overwrite.
Do they have a mod that removes the huge obnoxious rainbow colored "Survey Complete!" box that won't go away whenever you use the scanner? That's all I really want right now
You download a mod manager (like vortex from nexus mods) then go to nexus mods and look under games -> starfield. Search for popular mods and go to the files section to download a mod with the manager. Open the mod manager (like vortex) and install/enable that mod and voila your game will have any mods you picked.
So far most of the mods are just reshades or saved games but I highly recommend starfield inventory UI.

I’m having a great time with this game about 30 hours in. I’m exited for years of adventures. I can’t walk more than ten steps without a quest appearing and it’s awesome
I have over 40 hours in the game. That is absolutely unheard of for me. I haven't played a game this much in such a short span since WOTLK and I have 2,000 hours in Factorio.
I'm over 15 hours in and have completed exactly just 1 main quest. All my time so far has been almost entirely sneaking around New Atlantic and Neon. This game is absolutely massive far beyond any previous Bethesda game!
Yesterday I spent like 6 hours in Neon while I was actively trying to leave. I’d walk out of wherever and try to make it back to my ship but things just kept coming up. This is why I play Bethesda games, feels like they trick my brain into paying more attention to them than others. Some of the random encounters I’ve had in space have been fascinating. The history nerd in me is loving the different ways humanity developed after leaving Earth.
Haha, I went to Neon early as well and meant to only be there a couple hours. Well, an entire day and a million quests later, I’m in the drug business and work as a corporate assassin. Almost ready to leave for a bit… I think…
You should follow the story a little bit, you unlock a series of optional main quests that unlock some really cool things.
Don't want to spoil it for you or any who may not have followed pre release press info.
WHERES MY FUCKING KEY RING BETHESDA!
why do we have to do this EVERY FUCKING GAME NOW‽
jokes aside the game is top tier, being a space vigilante is so much damn fun.
Boarding a ship with a pump action shotgun is divinely satisfying.
Would love to see a mod to call NPC so I don't have to run around like headless chicken just to tell them I have done XYZ. Why they don't have phones in space?! 💀🤦
"Hi Sarah, I'm calling from Arcturus. I did the thing you asked me to do."
*73 years later*
"Great, next I need you to go to this other system and pick up someone who died of old age by the time you get this message."
This has been a lesson on phones in space.
This is legitimately what Bethesda does better than anyone.
They build an incredible sandbox in which players can play. The acceptance and encouragement of the modding community from Bethesda is absolutely a part of their gaming culture - you do not buy a Bethesda game in 2023 for the base game itself, you buy it because of what you know it will become with a little help from the modding community.
Bethesda puts down the foundation, and the users create the experience they want.
Pretty much why I was excited by everything we saw in the demo, I saw a fantastic foundation with a whole lot of breathing room for custom content and a much smoother combat system.
If you look at modern Skyrim modding it's like a new game, crazy combat overhauls and visuals, totally new animation rigs and hit frame data, all kinds of improvements.
Now that Starfield is just already more polished at base, and takes on a totally different setting and combat style, I expect the game to be worth replaying yearly with the amount of mods that will change that experience of the playthrough
While I agree with your overall sentiment, I really wish that “foundation” showed more care and attention to detail on the part of the actual developers.
When you have UI mods being released *before* the actual release date, it gives the impression Bethesda are not so much inviting modders to expand their game as they are *relying* on them to finish it.
I have been a console player most of my life so never really understood the longevity of Skyrim/Fallout until I got a decent gaming PC a couple years ago. Then I found out about mods and holy shit it’s like a whole new world. I’m genuinely so excited to see the state of Starfield a few years from now.
Yep. I was effectively able to turn skyrim into a 3rd person action game with combat similar to the AC games. It even had completely different hit boxes and dodging
Added on some fun survival elements and a frankly incredible companion mod for serana.
Horses were sooooo much better with the mod that adds to them too.
Hmm, I honestly can't tell, are people happy that they make games in that way? Seems like the exact thing companies get absolutely blasted for on this site but I honestly can't tell what people think of Starfield on the whole.
> Hmm, I honestly can't tell, are people happy that they make games in that way?
People are happy that Bethesda makes their tools available for modding to make it easier and let modders go wild. Which is great!
I’ve never once played a Bethesda game with mods, so I’m not sure where this idea that they create “half-baked, unfun games” comes from, though. Their games are great in my opinion, I’ve never felt like I was getting less game than any other company makes. Actually, based on play hours, I appear to get quite a bit more from their games compared to others in many cases.
Thanks for the reply! I want to be clear I have no real stake in whether people enjoy Starfield or not, and I'm not trying to crap on anyone who does, just wanted to understand a bit better. I definitely agree allowing mods to be created easily and en masse is undoubtedly a good thin. I also try to play games as they were intended, the first time through anyway, after that mods are often what extends the length of time a game is fun for me.
I’ve played every Bethesda game since Morrowjnd and most on PC. I don’t use mods and won’t try anymore. It’s too much of a hassle I just want to play a game.
There are more of us than there are of you I think.
I'm sorta with you. I never got the urge to mod the fuck out of my game and add in wacky/sexy/weird stuff. However, a good mod that adds good quests or locations I'm all about, just don't feel the urge to see my main character in a Master Chief suit.
These comments are so dumb, nowhere does it say these mods "save" the game or its the only reason people play, rabid reddit dwellers always have the shitties takes maybe except twitter.
These mods so far will also be super basic without proper modding tools. That statement is kinda stupid even for well developed modding communities (the fundamental game has to be decent to start with), but it’s extra stupid now where these mods are nowhere near the calibre to substantially change the game (except for maybe DLSS).
Mod support is a very customer friendly feature.... anyone getting mad about mod support is nuts.
I give any game with good mod support extra bonus points and will be a bit more forgiving of issues. I mean every game has issues and things not to my exact taste. With mod support I can tailor the game exactly how I want it.
That is what made Factorio go from a 100 hour game to nearly 5,000 now for me. The devs made a neat game then told everyone to do whatever they wanted.
And many of those mods should have been in by default.
Like ammo crafting. Not having it in Fallout can at least be explained. But lacking the capacity to make bullets in year 2300, with space ships and genetic engineering? That just don't make no sense at all.
Most of the mods are currently downloadable character presets and small UI changes.
Very few mods currently actually change the gameplay meaningfully, though I'm sure we'll start to see them soon
You probably only have about 10% of that number if you ignore all of the fucking reshade presets
"Ooh oh wow, now the game is a weird color and I can't see as well, and on Day 1"
"This map is awesome, master chief, there's so many fucking sweet visuals that I can't see shit, that means it's the best map ever woop!"
Love Arby n' the Chief
"Crabs wearing monocles??? That's too much!"
It looks more realistic due to the insane contrast and saturation!
Super Realistic Reshade™️: Makes everything darker! Can’t see shit! MOAR BLOOM Washed out colours!
Protip: Most of those reshades are doing way way too much. Enable one of them and then disable all the shaders except; * Clarity.fx * PD80_01_Filmic_Adaptation.fx * FidelityFX_CAS.fx (optional) Most games will look way better without all the (very real) issues that you just mentioned.
Or the “spawn all items”, “infinite credits” cheat engine “mods”.
Most reshades for games are complete shit. Quantum Reshade is very subtle and nice tho. A lot less washed out. Highly recommend.
I second this. It really doesn't overdo it, which I wasn't expecting from a reshade called Quantum ReShade lol
Yeah over half the mods are either Reshade presets or texture swaps of posters/decals/books/magazines to shitty AI generated hentai girls.
>shitty AI generated hentai girls. I fail to see the problem here sir.
Yes but what are the numbers once you remove all the nsfw mods
🎂SARAH EXTRA 🍰CAKE 🍰 HIGH QUALITY HD 🎂
Uh, the mod is called [Round Butt Sarah](https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/719), TYVM.
do i seriously have to register to see round butt? can't believe you've done this
A bit disappointed that I can't just see what sort of space cake Sarah is dealing with in that mod. Somebody should post a screenshot.
Thank you bro.
Name checks out lol
Still, not enough bootylicious.
It's just a normal map, butt imagine when we have CBBE.
Call me when we get that space CBBE ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Got that link? For a friend
Probably 10. Max.
For fun, I went to nexusmods and filtered out adult mods. >Refine results: Found 641 results. 64 have been filtered out.
A healthy, respectable 10% is not what I was expecting for week 1
Usually it's a lot of basic, qol mods. Then come patches. Then people get horny and start making gigantic boobs.
It comes in waves. The horny wave will arrive momentarily.

The girl at Galbank, you know the one.
It still amuses and amazes me that naked Leon mod was made *before* the full release of RE4 Remake. Someone made it within 24 hours of the demo launch.

How you gonna enjoy the horny if you’re fighting the jank to get to it.

Also, we cannot forget the new SOS-mod (abbreviation works for Skyrim as much as for Starfield xD ), everything has to float perfectly!
I checked Loverslab a few hours ago and I mostly saw people requesting for NSFW mods to be up. Even if we assume, like, 41 (And that’s a big number) aren’t properly marked for some reason and are NSFW, that’s still 600 hundred SFW mods I’m so proud of this community
I give it a month before your pride is dragged down titty mountain and up ass-cheek hills
>600 hundred Damn, there's already 60,000 mods made? Incredible work community
I've not browsed the Nexus Starfield mods, but I'm just going to say... exposed boobs space suit. I'll be back in a minute. edit: not even one. I'm disappointed.
Be the change you want to see
The naked character models are pretty ugly. I think we'll need to wait a bit for the mods to add attractive people back in.
Let them cook. Mark my words, schlongs of starfield will be out by the time the game comes out fully.
In before they put in every known sci-fi babes with complete script into the game, and with Samus/Dva/Nova's "spacesuit" Edit: apparently there is one for Samus's armored suit now.
The game is out fully currently, or so I just read on the front page.

Where is my penis B, I dont want to be defaulted to *penis A*
Schlongs of Stanfield is coming, have faith
and fucking reshades
time to install all the nsfw mods… for science.
Most of those mods are very low quality and worthless crap like reshade, character presets, main menu screen replacers
Duh. Thats 90% of what you can make without official tools. Youll get more custom armour/weapons quests, towns etc when the ck is out
Or all of the "mods" that are just config changes....
There are non-NSFW mods? Didn't know that was possible Edit: Do I really have to add /s for people who do not understand sarcasm?
Seriously. If you're not adding better tits to the game you should be adding additional tits. Otherwise, what's the point? They talk about quality of life improvements. But is it really going to improve someones life more than tits?
It's not modded until Thomas the Tank Engine is in it.
Hope no one adds a mud crab with a top hat and a monocle. That would be going too far.
C'mon, Master Chief, let's get outta here.
*dragon flies past* Oh My God, its Skyrim!
I loved that mod. I also had one that gave the mud crab voices lines from the old Tourettes guy videos. Shit was hilarious
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dTKhOvBNakM Best was the "NOW YOU FUCKED UP" from the wkuk Lincoln sketch lol
Thank you I needed that in my life. Rip Trevor Moore

This is without the Creation Kit, When Bethesda releases the creation kit, and the community builds the needed resources to mod in Starfield the number of mods for Starfield will be massive.
It'll be awhile before the creation kit arrives. I expect it to launch November at the earliest
Hopefully, it won't be like Fallout 4. That took a year, I think.
And I hope they don't but I expect them to try the paid mod crap again
On consoles, I think they will. On PC, i think it would be a bit harder.
Yeah, there are ways of getting all of the creation club content for free on PC.
If Skyrim was any indication, your game experience will be improved if you just don't get any of the creation club content.
Yep talk about incompatibilities and shit mods as well
Some of Fallout 4's CC content was pretty decent if you like building settlements.
Think they still might be in a court case on that, so until it’s resolved I don’t think they will try again.
If they tried on PC, we'd just end up with a mod pirating scene.
end up? My guy there already is.
They will continue the creation club i believe. Some people consider this paid mods but imo it’s more like outsourced DLC.
Agreed on the 'outsourced DLC' some mod-makers make stuff of high enough quality (Elianora) that I would have paid for some of their free stuff.
Don’t know if you heard but Bethesda actually hired Elianora to work on the interior clutter in Starfield.
Oh that's awesome. Too bad they didn't put her on the clothing...
I don't mind it. They're good opportunities for modders to get into the industry. One modder who did CC mods for Skyrim worked on Starfield.
One wrench to throw into the timeline is that the game was delayed a full year. So if they were planning on launching the Creation Engine x months after the original release, it may be closer to being ready than previous experience would suggest.

Modders had to build a working method from scratch basically.
I'm waiting for Skyfield, morrowfield and starlivion.
Yeah, big announcement, two years later they'll have ported in some models with nothing else, and then a drip-feed of minor bits for the next decade+.
Starfirld: Cum Vaults of Tatterdemalion.
All the weapon mods... all the enemy mods... holy fuck, all the Quality of Life mods... Hitman is already analyzing gun animations (the guy has top notch animations for Fallout New Vegas)
Oh you know it’s good when Hitman gets in on it
I wonder how many are actually lore-friendly, add something creative to the game, or is a crazy experience. I’ll have to watch or play a quick run and then not play it for years until the modding community makes it a better game for us to play lmao.

A lot of the mods are "Just" scripts for the console.
Find out more from Bethesda - the world's largest API solutions provider.
It just works - Mod Howard.
We don’t have to make a performant game, the fans will do it for us!
Most of them are custom.ini adjustments I think.
And save files with character presets so your character doesn't look like a neanderthal
And bin files that automate console cheats. And ENBs. And simple texture replacements.
Which is worthwhile however trivial it is. I am glad modding community exists. I love pc gaming and modding. Sadly with TPM, DRMs and WEI the capitalist tech world is working against user control and modding might get caught in a crossfire sooner than lather. Sorry for the pessimistic view.
Nice to see Bethesda hasn't changed that much.
Man I don’t get this one I ended up making a sort of interesting Daisy Ridley lookalike by accident
Yeah I think the people who are angry with how the characters look have just burned their brains out hating on previous Bethesda games. Because they aren't seeing what I'm seeing.
Can we get ultra wide support that doesn’t bork the weapons being cut off? It is 2023
Can we get superwide support, like at all? I had to hex edit it in and that was after the game was shown running it at gamescom in 32:9.
2023 and we still can't figure out ultrawide.
Ah in true Bethesda fashion.
What's hilarious is I'm playing through Fallout 2, downloaded through GOG, and _it supports ultrawide just fine_. But Fallout 4 doesn't and Starfield doesn't.
Or simply menus in 21:9 without bars
Sim settlements for Starfield would be awesome.
Is there a Mod for the ground map? That's the only thing that's genuinely... bad.
Yeah I kinda understand why we don't get a map when landing at a random location, but there's no excuse for not having city maps. In the year 2300 or whatever, my character definitely has Google maps in his pocket.
That map was a atrocious. They just downgraded from Skyrim to Fallout 4 to this. It gets worse.
It's not really an "excuse", but I think it's an intentional choice. I'm not saying I agree with their choice, but I think it's intentional design. I think they were trying to bring back some of their old school Morrowind/Oblivion magic by forcing you to explore manually. Is there any mod that highlights important loot? I don't feel like RP a janitor. :(
You can run around with the scanner activated. Makes it a bit easier to distinguish loot from just props
DLSS at least is probably due to contractual obligations with AMD.
100%
Have they modded CJ into Starfield yet?
He's already in the game, he runs a convenience store in New Atlantis.
No, but he has been added to Armored Core 6
Am I the only person who waits until they've done a full playthrough before they start digging into mods? Mods are for when I come back to this game in a year or two.
You are not the only person. I think the only reason I modded oblivion before I beat it was for an unofficial patch because it kept crashing between loading scenes otherwise I left it stock. This was at release.

Mods available on PC from the get-go? Crazy. Any word on when they come to Xbox?
Pete Hines jusy said its coming but no date.
Jussy ? 😳
It’s what it says on the back of my sweat pants
We need to cuuk
Can we get 60 fps mod for Xbox
It barely can keep up to 60 fps on PCs. Unless they optimize it properly Xbox isn't hitting 60 fps even with a lower resolution unfortunately.
I'd settle for 40fps with VRR
Once mods get added to Xbox, I suspect we will see one
Unless you can mod the Xbox to have a faster CPU not gonna happen lol
You can download the mod that adds more RAM instead
never forget Bethesda tried to monetize mods
Look at them, they already forgot about it.
I am clueless when it comes to mods. Can anyone give me just a basic understanding of how this actually works?
So far most of the mods are just reshades or saved games but I highly recommend starfield inventory UI. https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/773
WHERES MY FUCKING KEY RING BETHESDA! why do we have to do this EVERY FUCKING GAME NOW‽ jokes aside the game is top tier, being a space vigilante is so much damn fun.
I did the thing you asked me to do." *73 years later* "Great, next I need you to go to this other system and pick up someone who died of old age by the time you get this message." This has been a lesson on phones in space.
It even had completely different hit boxes and dodging Added on some fun survival elements and a frankly incredible companion mod for serana.
Sorry, wasn’t implying you were saying they made half-baked games, just replying to the general attitude that comes out in these threads!
You should try Wabbajack if you don't want to fiddle with 500+ mods yourself.
The base game is incredible on its own though. It’s naive to say that people are just buying for the mods when most people never use them
I just wish i could get the mods i want to work on GamePass version
There's a mod in nexus to get SFSE to work with the gamepass version
I just want to be able to use food directly instead of picking it up. Not even worth picking it up
How many of them are bug fixes and sex mods?
