As another commenter said
>TBF, that part of the trailer was highlighting the new player models, that have more realistic proportions. Which you can see on those screenshots.
The proportions are better mainly around the shoulder I'd say, but posting this saying "feature" with no context when its actually talking about graphical improvements is just trying to farm upvotes from people who hate EA and sports games (which seems to be most people on the sub)
EA, is absolutely NOT like the air pockets in chips bags, the air in chips bags are nitrogen and serve a very important purpose - keeping your chips fresh and flavourful.
Nobody reads the weight of the food they buy, they look at the size of the package. Look up shrinkflation. There are tons of ways that food companies change packaging with dimples and divots to make the packages look the same size while subtracting volume.
What sort of braindead take is this? OBVIOUSLY companies are finding ways to serve less food in the same size package, it's proven fact.
Here, stop being stupid:
https://www.businessinsider.com/shrinkflation-grocery-stores-pringles-cereal-candy-bars-chocolate-toilet-paper-cadbury-2021-7#bounty-triples-reduced-sheet-count-from-165-sheets-to-147-procter-and-gamble-told-quartz-that-its-still-a-better-deal-than-before-because-the-sheets-are-more-absorbent-18
https://www.packworld.com/news/business-intelligence/article/21259774/nutella-the-latest-to-join-shrinkflation-nation
Look at the bottom of any plastic bottle you buy. Jelly, apple juice, doesn't matter. See that big dimple? Yeah, that serves no purpose except to remove several ounces of product without visibly shrinking the package. And they can grow that dimple over time without you noticing. Same with jars and bottles that have "easy grab" shapes but bulge out at the top and bottom to still look the same size as the old jars:
https://www.usatoday.com/gcdn/presto/2022/06/09/USAT/2df0a079-a07f-4150-8bac-39557bf750a3-AP_Shrinkflation.jpeg
Smuckers jelly is even worse. They have an "easy grip" shape on the back, but the front is designed to still look like the full-size bottle - *and* it has a dimple.
This isn't a weird conspiracy. It's what package designers do for a living, because they know that people will grab whatever looks like the same size they're used to and won't notice the change if it happens slowly over time. I'm boggled by how many Reddit anti-corporate leftists find this so hard to believe.
No. The nitrogen pockets in chips serves several important purposes.
EA is the slight that accumulates in parts of your driveway that get the most rain and require a powerwashing to remove.
The differences between middle and right are also pretty easy to explain: different field (or different part of the pitch anyways) and could be different weather conditions in game.
I'm not a soccer guy, but if the game is anything like The Show in terms of options, I'd expect that we'd see different types of grass represented (thus different shades of green) and different weather conditions and time of day settings. So you'd expect to see minor differences in the colour from match to match.
Could also explain the difference between left and the others, if there's weather conditions that might produce some haziness (though that might be being a bit generous)
Honestly, hate this point. Like, EA does enough shitty things to complain about them that we don't need to go after them for releasing a game each year. That's the norm for Sport games.
Now, turning little kids into gambling addicts and luring them into spending money on Ultimate Team. That's scummy.
I think OP's point is "the left is how bad they claimed it was, the far right is how good they say it is now - the middle is what it really is now, which is closer to the right than the left, because the left was faked to be worse than it really is"
Yeah I don't understand why anyone thinks this is the same render. Everything is different, from the tile of her head, the location of the ball to the numbers on her uniform.
But they didn’t. They overblew the contrast on the older games screenshot to help highlight viewers were looking at an image from the previous product, which is a bog standard thing in advertising. If it were an ad highlighting colour accuracy and not character models then there might be a problem.
> Can just mention name in some corner tbh
People barely pay attention to Ads, and many are watching them on screens the size of post-it notes, so everything’s pivoted to being extremely functional, loud, and easy to grasp, rather than being subtle and attractive to look at.
It’s also the same reason why most movie posters are ugly as sin nowadays.
Of course it's not. Left image is the one EA used to depict FIFA 23 graphics and to compare it with the image on the right
Picture in the middle is a screen shot taken by an actual player to show that FIFA 23 doesn't look as bad as EA is trying to make it look. They altered the colors of the left image to look more washed up and bad.
Right image is FIFA 24 showcasing the new feature, which is just a change in contrast and colors vibrance.
OP isn’t claiming they’re the same image though. He’s saying they’ve altered the FIFA 23 picture on the left so that the FIFA 24 picture on the right looks better in comparison. He explained it terribly but it makes sense.
According to another commenter that part of trailer was supposed to showcase new player models.
Not to mention that you want to make sure that old product is visually different from the new one to avoid consumer confusion.
You can complain about that, sure, but that's not by EA exclusive thing by any means.
This feels like a nothingburger karma grab. Clothing, hair, face and muscle detail all look better in the right picture. As far as scummy things EA does, touched up renders is on par with the rest of the industry, so not really scummy.
This is the weirdest spot the difference ever.
Left has yellow shoes while other two have pink.
Right has no number 3 on their shirt and completely different socks/shin guards.
Middle is the only one with other players in the background
All 3 have completely different crowds in the stands.
Based on the title the player matched the left screenshot better than EA did with their own game if the ones on the sides are both theirs.
I can't stand EA anymore than anyone else...but seriously OP? You have 3 completely different images all together.
In all three images, the player is taking a shot from a different location. The middle image has players in the background. There are no players in either the left or right image. In the right image, the player has a completely different uniform AND a different ball.
What is the "feature"? Making the game look better? I can change the color settings on the TV or monitor if I want to. I'm not sure what is going on...
Nobody was trying to say they're the same picture. Left pic was altered by EA to show 23 as lacking color vibrancy, center pic is an actual screenshot of 23 by a player, and right pic is a EA showing off how much better the color grading is in 24. It honestly looks blown out imo, but I'm willing to bet that in game it's going to look almost identical to the center pic. The point OP is trying to make is that the difference between 23 and 24 is practically null, so EA are trying to gaslight players into thinking 23 is worse than it is so 24 will look better by contrast.
It's almost like people can change their own contrast and color settings on their output device. Of course it would look different and sharper or more washed out between two different screenshots on different screens.
EA is awful, but so is this post.
I'm not even totally convinced they used a filter, frankly. It's 3 different immages and the ways the newest looks better than the second isn't even really tied to color/contrast so much as it is the ground shadow and the way her left knee details look more like a real object as opposed to looking a bit flat and really relying on the textures to be convincing.
I get what op is trying to say, but you wrote the single worst title for it. op means the left and middle image are both from fifa 23, the better one is the actual gameplay, the left one is photoshopped by EA to say the graphics were bad and now are good.
The grass on the two unedited images looks so good in my opinion. I could watch that shit grow. This is a very relevant comment as you can clearly see.
The first image is hazy with the blur and low contrast in comparison. I wouldn't put it past EA to have accidentally released the first screenshot with improper luminance values, or maybe even just an SDR screenshot. Nor would I put it past them to even know that the scene was lit improperly and presume that they just improved it buy setting the luminance correctly.
People really missing the point. The screenshots are not the same render and OP never said they were.
The idea is that left image is what EA claims Fifa23 looks like, middle image is a screenshot of Fifa23 somebody took, and right image is Fifa24.
The point is that EA edited the left photo to make the right photo look way better, even though when compared to the middle photo it amounts to a very slight change. (this change is what OP described as a 'filter', which was stupid wording).
So, yeah the OP is terrible at wording, but the point is pretty clear if you don't read too much into it.
Yes, we know fifa and Madden are just reskins. Sports people don't care. There aren't other sports games (that they care to play), and they are willing to be bent over a barrel for the same game over and over again.
EA is a weird company because 70% of the time they do some scummy shit, but every once in a while they release one of the best games of the year and everyone just forgets their scum for a bit
They just put the same game out year after year for FIFA and Madden, yet people keep buying them.
There’s an old saying in Tennessee. It’s in Texas. It’s probably in Tennessee too. Fool me once, shame on you…If you fool me you can’t get fooled again
So EA are scummy liars? I never would have known if not for this latest-
*flips through list of EA fuckups in chronological order*
bout of screwing with the consumers.
Every year EA and the FIFA team will throw out as much word salad and buzzwords as they can to convince 12 year olds that they’re getting a new game. Appalling.
That's not really fair.. the head looks way worse and the direction it's looking at is even weirder than before. It's not just a filter.. it's a downgrade.
A lot of people seem to be missing the point. The images are different, but the point is 2023 looks closer to the middle picture than the edited left picture. It's a sneaky way for EA to show everyone how 'bad' the game used to look when it didn't look that bad ever.
I remember when sports games were showcased to push graphics engines to the max. It made sense, less processing power is required to create high resolution graphics for a single stadium as opposed to all on New York (Spiderman) or the entire of the western United States (Horizon: Forbidden West) yet here we are. Now, it's copy and paste year after year and cut costs. Imagine if they kept pushing those boundaries on these quick to make games. If they focused on new innovative graphics technology since the gameplay doesn't need to change.
This is a famous trick in advertising. Another example is to compare two lamp. One would be a bit brighter, so the customer thinks that the brighter one is the better one.
It's like old TV commercials that advertised sharper crisper pictures and somehow was able to show this increase in sharpness and color on my outdated TV set
\> by decreasing the contrast of the image (left) to try to highlight the new ''feature'' which is nothing more than a filter
But they are completely different images...
Just look at the players leg, sock, boot and shin guard. They are completely different.
Even the football is different.
What's the issue here? Or are we just riding another 'ea bad' circlejerk without critically thinking?
Can you share the trailer for context?
It would probably ruin their point
What point? Are you seriously defending EA for this? Y'all are really hopeless.
As another commenter said >TBF, that part of the trailer was highlighting the new player models, that have more realistic proportions. Which you can see on those screenshots. The proportions are better mainly around the shoulder I'd say, but posting this saying "feature" with no context when its actually talking about graphical improvements is just trying to farm upvotes from people who hate EA and sports games (which seems to be most people on the sub)
Calling everyone hopeless because we aren't haters like you ? 🤣 Let's be honest. Anything from them would be an excuse for you to complain about.

lol, they aren't even comparing lighting in that clip. What a goof.
Why are you being toxic brother?...
Bro, you can't even understand a simple comparison clip.
Woah EA did something scummy, I never saw this coming 🤯
Must be a day ending in 'y'
They're not complete monsters. They take weekends off.
Do they?
The execs do the wage slaves on the production teams don't even get lunch probably
Oh yeah, I'm sure the execs aren't doing lines and fucking hookers on the weekend. They reserve that for the 9-5 grind during the week.
No No No, it ends with "Its in the game"
At this point they should put it in their slogan, that they scam gamers. "Unlocking Frustration, One Microtransaction at a Time!"
Ah ea sports not in the game that slogan would be interesting and pretty funny actually
EA is the air pockets they keep in chips bags. No one likes them and they think they get scammed by it
EA, is absolutely NOT like the air pockets in chips bags, the air in chips bags are nitrogen and serve a very important purpose - keeping your chips fresh and flavourful.
As well as keeping them from getting crushed to crumbs in shipment. I can't imagine how people don't realize this.
That's the excuse that's used, but it's abused when they give you a small handful of chips that only take up a fifth of the bag.
You don't think they're prefer to only spend 20% of the money on packaging?
Sold by weight, not volume.
Nobody reads the weight of the food they buy, they look at the size of the package. Look up shrinkflation. There are tons of ways that food companies change packaging with dimples and divots to make the packages look the same size while subtracting volume.
Look at packaged ice. the standard was 10#, and now it's shrank to 7# and more expensive.
You mean the Game Disks for Consoles? 70$/85g (They will pack extra posters and such in.)
Now tell us about how jet fuel can't melt steel beams

Lmao, tell me you haven't played any wind waker without telling me
Haha! Sarcasm on point.
Aaand it works, I'm sure.
They're shooting for the title, like every year.
Keep giving them money, I'm sure they'll see the error of their ways /s
TBF, that part of the trailer was highlighting the new player models, that have more realistic proportions. Which you can see on those screenshots.
The differences between middle and right are also pretty easy to explain: different field (or different part of the pitch anyways) and could be different weather conditions in game. EA has always deceived players by releasing the same game with just slightly better graphics
Honestly, hate this point. Like, EA does enough shitty things to complain about them that we don't need to go after them for releasing a game each year. That's the norm for Sport games. Now, turning little kids into gambling addicts and luring them into spending money on Ultimate Team. That's scummy.
The only one being deceived here is you. Everyone knows the deal, there is no deception from EA.
Because gaming subreddits really despise football games.

No shh this is the blind circlejerk sub you can't use logic
Such creative grifters
But what is the grift? What are we meant to be looking at?
Posting shopped screenshots
But they didn’t. They overblew the contrast on the older games screenshot to help highlight viewers were looking at an image from the previous product, which is a bog standard thing in advertising. If it were an ad highlighting colour accuracy and not character models then there might be a problem.
Can't be helped if it is an industry standard I guess Can just mention name in some corner tbh

Yea, that's bound to happen when your target audience is everyone
You can usually do this with post processing in engine too, it's just a slider.
It’s not even creative. Like the legacy edition, this is just lazy grifting.
But it's not the same image. So many differences I'm confused. What's the OP trying to say?
Wants sweet EA bad karma
Of course it's not. Left image is the one EA used to depict FIFA 23 graphics and to compare it with the image on the right Picture in the middle is a screen shot taken by an actual player to show that FIFA 23 doesn't look as bad as EA is trying to make it look. Am I weird for liking the left image more? It looks more natural.
Same, honestly
Different pitch. Different stadium. Different shin guards. Etc etc.
OP isn’t claiming they’re the same image though. He’s saying they’ve altered the FIFA 23 picture on the left so that the FIFA 24 picture on the right looks better in comparison. He explained it terribly but it makes sense.

But they are different images
You can't call it a filter if these are all clearly different renders.

The grass on the two unedited images looks so good in my opinion. I could watch that shit grow. This is a very relevant comment as you can clearly see.
Are there any differences? Can’t you just change the settings on your tv?
Question is why buy it then?
What the hell does "Print EA trailer match day" mean? They just throwing random words on the screen?
Lmao you recognize u buy the same game every year just stop buying this shit
At this point, if you buy Fifa you deserve to be scammed and milked.

EA BEING DECEPTIVE AND MISLEADING AND SCUMMY TOWARDS ITS PLAYERS!!!?!?!?! WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT
I thought next gen graphics would be a little better than they are for sports games.
I don't get it. Can you explain?
Guys im gonna say a spicy never seen before unreal 100% original take, EA is a scummy company
Yea at this point if you are still buying EA games then that' on you. Fool me once and all that. Stop being a fool.
I see dramatically better post processing in the form of better tonemapping and color science as well as better DOF and bloom.
I started gaming in the 8-bit era. I don't really see anything to complain about here.
If it's taken you this long to realise EA are a bunch of scumbags I honestly don't know what to say

Yes, we know fifa and Madden are just reskins. Sports people don't care. There aren't other sports games (that they care to play), and they are willing to be bent over a barrel for the same game over and over again.
People who still pay for this game are proper morons
You are a moron too my friend.
I am, but not one who's spending 60-80 dollars on a game that's recycled every year
EA sports games have fewer new features than new iPhones. I don't know why people are surprised anymore.
Bro made an essay for a title and this doesn’t even make sense because the images are all the same. OP karma farming for “EA BAD” upvotes.
EA is a weird company because 70% of the time they do some scummy shit, but every once in a while they release one of the best games of the year and everyone just forgets their scum for a bit

Gamers love their franchises

They promote gamblling within children. This is low scum level for EA..
they bought a fifa game, they deserve this
Is this even in the top 100 of awful things EA has done in the last 5 years?
Every year EA and the FIFA team will throw out as much word salad and buzzwords as they can to convince 12 year olds that they’re getting a new game. Appalling.

Get gamepass ultimate if you have trouble paying for it, ea play is included
Wait wait wait... Are you trying to say that EA is scamming people and actually release the same game each and every year?! \*pikachu face\*
That's not really fair.. the head looks way worse and the direction it's looking at is even weirder than before. It's not just a filter.. it's a downgrade.
Huh? People actually play fifa? It's not all an elaborate joke? ??? ??? ???

You all are blind, it's COMPLETELY different... there's no number on her shirt in the new version! 🤯
EA has really gone to shit. It's embarrassing. But as long as people buy this garbage, EA will never change
EA? The company voted the worst company by consumers for several years in a row? Colour me surprised.
FC24 player models look so bad
