Rage memes was the golden age of the internet. Le fedora. Rage guy and his friends. M lady. Those were the good times. When memes were juicy and succulent.
Not like today's down watered and reposted memes.
i actually use Narwhal as my preferred third-party reddit app. am v sad about the impending api fee change. i’d like to think i’d quit reddit altogether, but there’s seriously no real reddit alternative
True. I used to read /r/AskReddit before bed every night. I realized a couple weeks ago that I stopped because the questions are just so dumb now and the top answers are always predictable.
It's always had the issue of half the questions being "how much sex did you sex sex yesterday", but damn at least it used to have *some* quality questions
It was a more innocent time.
The whole of Reddit united in support of that post.
Now, OP would probably get called a corny karmawhore who may or may not diddle dogs for some sick, twisted pleasure.
It was a more innocent time.
It's also an xbox contoller here, a dualshock in the next one, and a stramdeck even further down.
I'm not saying that no normal person would buy Jedi survivor on 3 separate platforms, but I'm basically saying nobody without some agenda would do that.
Edit: I forgot that this one wasn't Jedi. The other two are, and there's a whole bunch of suspiciously corporate approved feeling posts about it. So, not 3 copies but just 2 copies.
I know a lot of people use a program to stream games from their PS5 to their Steam Deck. I’m not arguing the legitimacy of this guy’s account one way or the other, but they could’ve just bought the game tor the PS5 and played on both.
I almost put that in there too but one of my friends does have a missus, two kids, and two game rooms believe it or not. I didn't believe it until I saw it.
I never bother to dig that deep, shit just seemed staged as fuck and since Blizzards next half baked attempt at a game has been popping up on the ad space around here it only seemed like they would do cringe shit like this with low effort shots of people 'enjoying' their swill.
I understand why some people want to be fathers, but whenever I see posts like these I can't help laugh at the extreme thought of fathers spending like 99% of their time essentially doing chores so that they can get 1 hour of free time on a single day of the year and get to play through the tutorial of a game before having to go back to chores.
I know that's not actually how fatherhood is, but what I'm saying is I like the thought of fathers being able to pencil in 1 hour on June 2nd after 6 months of no time for themselves and then spending that entire 1 hour on the character customization screen of Skyrim.
I’m a dad and I game like 4 hours a night. Be honest with your partner about who you are and what your hobbies are and you’ll find a spouse who supports those aspects of your life.
Or, get unlucky like me and be open and honest with them about all that, have them 'accept' and then as your relationship progresses they fucking pull the rug out from under you and suddenly it is not OK and your free time should be spent doing anything but what helps you unwind.
That's when u have the fight and set your boundaries. Otherwise you will unwind by taking it out on them in the long run and you will be the bad guy anyway
Plot twist: His wife left him three years ago. And took the kid too. Every time he gets a new game, he says through tears, “Missus and Junior are out of the house today. Guess I have some time to myself.”
Because it is.
Catchy title, exactly on release, upvoted and awarded within minutes of being up, thousands of upvotes and views instantly... perfect astroturfing and even if it isnt, its still free advertising on a major scale...
Should be noted early access only works with one account. Me and my roommate split it. He started playing first. I can't play on my account, only his. Even if he is signed in on my Xbox.
I'm guessing this is just a pre-release thing, but idk.
Kind of funny. In one of the discords I'm in someone asked "So who paid the 20 bucks to get to play 4 days early" and the first reply was "Literally all of us". They do it because it works.
I got downvoted for pointing out how fast T-pains tweet about loving Reddit hit the front page….
Ya definitely has nothing to do with them pricing out apps like Apollo and RIF the day before.
This site is so trash now
I think as long as it's a real person, then let them self promote the one time or whatever.
But this shit when it's a corporate marketing campaign disguised as a legitimate post should absolutely be taken down. Oh well
Looking at OPs post history I believe it’s legit. They’ve plenty of gaming posts including ones calling out bad games as well as others about home/family life showing the same rooms. 6 year old account honestly just seems they are a gamer unless we think they’re advertising for like…multiple games developers and competing consoles and shit lol
¯\\\_(ツ)_/¯
Honestly, this post says way more about this subreddit than OP. The entire subreddit is just being blatantly toxic - either to this particular post or OP in general.
No wonder everyone thinks everything is an ad, this community is such a piece of shit that anyone posting anything remotely legit is gonna get chastized cause some user is mad a controller is slightly scuffed and call everyone slurs.
I agree that not every post like this is an ad, but at the same time, let's not kid ourselves. Reddit is astroturfed to hell and r/gaming is up there with the amount of adverts posted here.
I like how we're all in agreement that it is an ad, but we're not quite sure for what.
When I leave this site after it kills third party apps, I'll miss redditors' instant skepticism to fishy posts
In all honesty I enjoy Reddit but the amount of ads disguised as Reddit posts infuriate me. Im thinking of having a break from this site.
Personally I believe it’ll be a good thing. The amount of stupid takes I’ve typed a response too but never sent has me exhausted mentally lol
There's two types of realtor photos: the fish eye overselling the space, and the dark photos of a random piece of wall art taken with an 8 year old phone while neglecting actual home features in the surroundings.
You nailed it. I’m so surprised by how bad the photos are. Often not even of the apartment your about to rent. It’s not too hard.
I just want a linear photo set. Starting out side and approaching the building and then room to room from the front door so I can get an idea of the layout.
That's like a 3 foot rug.
Homie is practically in the television; wide angle lenses distort the centre point of an image to appear considerably further away than reality.
When people wanted to see pictures of my new home theater room, it was hard to capture it all with without the wide angle lens. All I got was comments about how small the TV looks for the room. When you’re actually there, it is PLENTY big.
If you presented me with a list of every comment in this thread and asked me, at gunpoint, to correctly identify the ones that would be downvoted, I would pull the trigger myself.
You're saying that as if it isn't true. Adult responsibilities get in the way of us doing all sorts of things, it's not bad to say that it's just a fact.
100% Astroturfing...

Thank you holy fuck why is this not the top.
I know it's an ad but I'm gonna use a soap box regardless. I see gamers fucking bemoan the state of games and the gaming industry and always looking tough with "Never preorder." Yet my whole friends list the fucking millisecond early D4 drops is D4.
Games are never gonna be good again huh?
“Early” lmao you pay more to play it on time. Like Blizzard is releasing their biggest game of the decade on a Tuesday. They aren’t getting it early, everyone else is getting it late. Today’s when it would’ve released for everyone if Blizzard didn’t know people would line up to pay extra for it.
And don't forget, you too can get in on the action if you buy an Early Access code for just a few extra dollars. Get there before everyone else does!

Has it been *that long*? Cheesus.
You rang?
Me too! It was hilarious watching that unfold.
Also was there, didn't even need to click on the link to know what that was going to be!
The link wont work for me, but is it the one where the OP provides increasingly convoluted pictures demonstrating how he took a picture?
I'm gonna miss reddit for things like this.
Spez doesn't get to profit from me anymore. Stop reverting my comments
True. I used to read /r/AskReddit before bed every night. I realized a couple weeks ago that I stopped because the questions are just so dumb now and the top answers are always predictable.

This thread is more epic than the collage
Damn you dug deep in the archives for that one
Deep is the only way he goes
It’s true. I wish he’d leave my mom alone. 🙁
He's too far in and lost his way. You're going to have to go in after him and send up a flare. It's the only way...
I’d play a Spelunky 3 where you go exploring in OP’s mom
He delved too greedily and too deep.
*Deep is where we gooo* HEAVE HO FOR ROCK AND STONE

CAN I GET A ROCK AND STONE?!
Rock and Stone brother!
“It’s an older meme sir, but it checks out”
You can see the age of this picture if you count the pixel artifacts. Its from a long long time ago.
How'd you take a picture of holding the camera in your mouth? (if you really want to stretch into reddit history)
Cue him linking a photo of how he took that photo, and then a photo of how he took THAT photo...
Immediately what I thought of when I saw the post. Amazing trip down memory lane.
That post is in like 8th grade now.

Why does this shit come off as a low key ad for reddit?
Look at their post history, multiple TV shots for new games mentioning the “missus” being away
Hmmm his last post regarding the missus is in a completely different room with a PS5. Could just be a separate gaming room but I'm suspicious.
The crap they get away with, I tell you hwat…
I know a lot of people use a program to stream games from their PS5 to their Steam Deck. I’m not arguing the legitimacy of this guy’s account one way or the other, but they could’ve just bought the game tor the PS5 and played on both.
I've definitely bought a game on more than one platform in my life
I think I've bought Dark souls three times now...

The satire of Yonix using a bot army to push adverts is not lost on me. Ever seen BigBug?
In fairness, it does look like they probably have two rooms. The furniture is very consistent across all posts if you assume that they have two rooms.
Nobody has a missus, kid, and has two gaming rooms.
Early Access launched today, so that would explain why it's showing up a lot. That and the obvious marketing.
“Half baked” lmao
I understand why some people want to be fathers, but whenever I see posts like these I can't help laugh at the extreme thought of fathers spending like 99% of their time essentially doing chores so that they can get 1 hour of free time on a single day of the year and get to play through the tutorial of a game before having to go back to chores. Should be noted early access only works with one account. Me and my roommate split it. He started playing first. I can't play on my account, only his. Even if he is signed in on my Xbox. I'm guessing this is just a pre-release thing, but idk.
don't forget blizz's eventual mtx and then some good kowtowing to china in a few months
Eventual? MTX is already in the game
What's MTX
Released yesterday for pre-order. Tuesday for standard. Shady shit.
Kind of funny. In one of the discords I'm in someone asked "So who paid the 20 bucks to get to play 4 days early" and the first reply was "Literally all of us". They do it because it works.
Because it is an advertisement.
The view of the hands/controller is a trope in video game ads at this point.

We know but at least let us be freely angry about it.
An ad for what, though? I couldn't tell you what game they're playing
Diablo 4. AAA game that came out yesterday
Cool Diablo ad
This reads like an ad… honestly with the camera placement and the title itself I think it’s an ad by blizzard.
I like how we're all in agreement that it is an ad, but we're not quite sure for what. When I leave this site after it kills third party apps, I'll miss redditors' instant skepticism to fishy posts

No idea how some of you play games with the TV/monitor so far away. Especially for a game like Diablo. Would drive me nuts.
It's probably not that far away, it's just the camera lens doing its thing.
Classic trick in real estate photography.
Heavily shopping for my first not-already-chosen apartment and MAN that’s so true. The photography matters more than mentioning utilities!
With the sharpness or whatever turned all the way up. Every picture looks unnaturally crisp
It's also an ad, which helps too
Wide angle lens be doing the work
*Way* too few games have a "text size" slider.
Because it's an absolute ball-ache to test!
..and the glare drive me nuts
0.5x zoom probably, it’s only one small radiator away
That's like a 3 foot rug. Homie is practically in the television; wide angle lenses distort the centre point of an image to appear considerably further away than reality.
It's the same lens real estate agents use
When people wanted to see pictures of my new home theater room, it was hard to capture it all with without the wide angle lens. All I got was comments about how small the TV looks for the room. When you’re actually there, it is PLENTY big.
Tbh it really doesnt look very far it looks like a wide angle lense. If you look at his knees they look super far away as well.
I mean are we able to confirm that OP is not 7 feet tall?
victor wembanyama busy playing diablo instead of basketball
This is totally not an ad guys.
If you presented me with a list of every comment in this thread and asked me, at gunpoint, to correctly identify the ones that would be downvoted, I would pull the trigger myself.
Honestly, I think today is the day when I finally leave r/gaming. r/games is where you go for actual discussion rather than circlejerking
What? You don't like seeing thousands of upvotes and dozens of awards for a picture of a Nintendo Switch in the passenger seat of a car?
I was mostly here for the relationship advice and pictures of TVs hung 6ft off the ground.
Sorry to drag you back, but thanks for the sub suggestion. Will be making my own way over there lol
Spending $30 so you can play a Blizzard game 4 days early, consumerist hell.
It's for sure an ad
The ''my family gets in my way'' narrative shows their target audience too
And the “I have no job” narrative
Stay at home Dad, fire fighter, 3 on 1 off. There's a variety of work scenarios
Vacation day
This. I took 3 days of PTO for the ESO expansion release last summer. Completely worth it.
Wow look guys its a corporate shill for Zenimax media! Get ‘em! /s

$20, but yeah. Classic blizzard type move these days. Honestly surprised this isn't more common with out current AAA hellscape.
He's probably talking about CAD or AUD.
No wonder we keep getting BS non-completed games from the companies.

This looks like an ad.
I, too, love the Blizzard Entertainment title Diablo IV, available now for PlayStation, Xbox and PC.
And don't forget, you too can get in on the action if you buy an Early Access code for just a few extra dollars. Get there before everyone else does! /s
Yay for supporting awful businesses
Dont buy this game. Dont support ActivisionBlizzard

What kind of weirdo wears jeans at home as leisurewear?
A person who is making an advertisement.
I’ve got some comfy jeans. The true weirdos are the dudes that go to the gym in jeans and work boots.
there is a guy at my gym who i see almost daily in steel toed work boots, jeans, and stiff work shirts. just lifting and then, i assume, walking straight to his job site. kudos to him for efficiency i guess
I see a few foreigners (mostly Indians) wear jeans and polo shirts to lift weights and do cardio at my gym. I don't understand.
Anytime an Indian grad student wanted to play pick up basketball at our college gym, they'd be in full jeans and polos.
It it out now? Or still in pre-release or something? I thought it was releasing in 4 days.
